PREDNISONE: One of the most scary medications that I have EVER taken.
I had injured my neck about 6 months ago. The doctor prescribed 20mg to be taken in the mornings. I am also taking Lorazepam (.5mg) Lorazepam is a tranq and muscle relaxant. I was taking .5 mg 3 times a day and 1 mg at night to help me sleep.
My experience with prednisone was short term: 20 mg the first 2 days... then I was so preoccupied that I forgot a day. On the 4th day I resumed taking the medication, but I was experiencing panic attacks, hostility, and depression.
Soooo, I increased my Lorazepam. By the 5th day, I had no concept of time or space... I had obviously over medicated myself, and luckily didn't die. However, when my significant other got home and tried to take my pills, I became violent. I guess I thought I was superwoman! I among other things, threw him out and called the police... He did not press charges, but the state did... on him, because I called first. Now we have to go to court.
I can honestly tell you. For me, this is a dangerous drug. Needless to say the doctor told me to stop taking the drug when I called the next day. My remorse was unbearable.
My doctor claims that I was only on a small dose and that he had only seen one bad reaction in his 30 years of practice; and he said she was taking twice as much. The doctor said that the prednisone cause the irritability and the Lorazepam removed the inabition (much like alcohol does). The pharmacy did not warn me or give me any paper work on the drug when I picked it up.
It is too bad that we find this site after the fact.

I was really looking forward to taking Yasmin, as all other BCPs in the past made me gain quite a bit of weight. I thought the first 3 days of nausea would go away, but the nausea continued every night, and was interupting my sleep and workout patterns. Many nights I had cold sweats and severe nausea. On the 2nd pack, I had to double up JUST ONE NIGHT, and ended up vomiting. My significant other also said that I am acting different, nervous, testy, etc. Like the others have said, Yasmin isn't for everyone, neither are BCPs, so just choose thoughtfully and carefully.

My significant other took Doxycylene, 100 mg, twice a day for two weeks to treat a swollen lymph node under his arm. During the treatment he experienced nausea, stomach pain, rash and cold sweats, nothing too bad. 3 days after the last dose everything got significantly worse. It started with sever chest pain, so bad we went to the emergency room thinking it was a heart attack or blood clot. They found nothing and discharged him. Over the next 3 weeks he started vomitting, diahrea and developed jaundice. Constant queeziness and chest pain. After numerous tests, ultra sounds, MRCP, the doctor has ruled out various hepatitas's and every other disease he could think of. He's also rulled out any kind of bile duct blockage after the MRCP. Its now been 7 weeks since all this started, my friend has dropped 40 lb's (190 down to 152) and still dropping. Our doctor (gastro interologist) has admitted he's stumped and is currently contacting a professor in Miami as a last hope. The only thing our doctor keeps comming back to is the Doxycyclene and that my friend may have had that one rare acute reaction. We're frazzled and don't know what to do next.
