This is a nightmare. I have been on Lamictal 200 mg, tab in morning, for approx. 5 months. About 3 1/2 months ago I started getting muscles aches and weakness, muscle overuse problems, fluid retention ( like 12 pounds), stayed in a trance with very little short term memory. Thought it was everything but this medicine....I am an avid athelite, yes, even at 51. So, I blamed myself for not slowing down. Quick exercising totally, for 2 months, iced 3 times a day on leg muscles. Finally after making it to the summer without a mental breakdown, I went to the emergency room and a new internist to get checked out. Blood work, thyroid, hormones,ok.... Really don't care what they think , I can not walk, it hurts like hell. The Dr. did tell me to get off Lamictal....ok 7th day and I have some relief but it is not complete. Called manufactures, interesting, yes- these are side effects!!! But the studies are limited. Listen , unless you have seizures, get off this medicine... you read the full disclosure of side effects and then search yourself......It can ba a huge FOOOOOPA.....And you are the fool that will end up holdling the bag, not the manufacturer. Hopefully I will get better. Right now , I just trying to stay calm.

My 6 year old son has had all of these more or less. He has been on Singulair for about 5 months. We took him off last Friday when he started having seizures. It is only now that we are connecting the things he has complained about. He is still going through testing but everytime a test is done it is negative. He is in perfect health. The dr.s are stumped. What happens is, he smells a wierd smell. Then he sees lights. After this he has a bad headache and becomes weak so he lays down. Shortly thereafter he stiffens and starts shaking his arms and legs while clinching his hands. He also grunts and makes a buzzing sound and appears as though he only breathes out. the dr.s say it is not seizures but movement disorder and if it is Singulair it should be out of his system within 3 days... He is still having the seizure type fits and its been a week since we took him off singulair. He is still losing his temper and having horrible dreams as well. Cat scan was normal, EEG was normal, blood work is ok, they want to do an MRI but does this sound familiar to anyone?

I guess you right about not being able to sue the Pharma, that is if they would have listed the worst side effects on the label. Or if my doctor would have warned me, that this medicine could kill me. If all the websites are correct, I should only be taking 250/50 for my copd, not the 500/50 that I have been taking for 3 years. I understand your thinking, that maybe one drug could help you with your illiness, but the cure could kill you. I mean I may not die with a Pulminary disease, but; if I am lucky I could die of one of the side effects. That is what is wrong with the medicine and health fields in this country, why should we have to settle for dying from any medicine, especially when the medicines cost more than a lot of people's mortgages every month. It is not a good trade off. I understand though, 20 years ago, I got lead poisioning, and was told that if I take the med. to cure me, it was only a 50/50 proposition, but; if I didn't take it I would surely die, but; that was 20 years ago. Today we should not have to choose which medicine is going to kill us. If we sit silently by and allow the pharmacuticles to choose profits over the right and moral thing to do then we deserve what they do to us, but; my friend if somebody does not stand up and say enough is enough then all hope is lost.

I thought this would be interesting for everyone to read. I went to my dentist the other day for my checkup and he commented "I see you're no longer taking the Lipitor". I was quite surprised and wondered how he knew since I did stop taking it 4 months ago because it left me in crippling muscle pain in my back and legs. He said he could tell by looking at my gums - that they look much more healthier now. I never had any gum problems my entire life even while taking lipitor so I was surprised at this observation. It just goes to show you how dangerous this drug is, that if it can be seen in the gums this drug must affect the entire body whether you have symptoms there or not and who knows what it's silently doing to you. The dentist commented that everyone that takes this drug seems to get muscle pains and many are left crippled long after they discontinue the drug and he wonders why doctors so blindly keep prescribing this drug and why they keep advertising it on TV like it's candy.
