Hi to all,
I wanted to take a minute to say Thanks to all who post and search for answers to this drugs confusing and serious side effects. To all who have taken the time to contact the FDA and file a report to help others.Dr.Sarah Sellers is no longer the person to contact at the FDA,she has moved on after concluding her end of the investigation on Singulair. If you have a serious side effect please still take the time to file on the official FDA site for adverse event reporting. In NY. state we are still searching for legislation to help with the notification process for these serious side effects. There are to many Doctors that still do not have a clear idea of the updated side effects, and are not reporting as they should.
Letting your doctor know that good medicine is all about follow up on complaints, such as researching the singulair website to rule out that it may be the drug or it may not.Just dismissing the patient and prescribing another drug is how these drugs go undetected for so long.We want this to stop and only the unfortunate recipients of the horrors of this drug can make this happen.Again thank you for your efforts to change the system with follow through and perserverance. Our horror story is one of many and we want to help those who have survived the ravages of this drug, OUR CHILD DID NOT. Kate and Dave M.

I used the Nuvaring for 3 weeks while waiting for a tubal ligation. I am a single mom with 4 kids and was loving life until I used that ring. Two weeks after insertion, I was crying about everything and tired. I felt like I was 2 months pregnant except MUCH more emotional. The third week I was snapping at my kids and fighting with my boyfriend. 24 hours after taking it out, I felt like a new person. I will not use the Nuvaring again.

Hi again all! Well, just to refresh...had my mirena in for just over 10 months and out now for 6 weeks...This past Tuesday I started my period, on time, and it was normal, I had NO cramps (which I usually do) and I finished yesterday!!! I did have a break out of acne (which is normal), I haven't lost any weight yet (although I think at 35 it is just harder to lose, I wish it was as easy as it was to put on with this darn thing!) My moods are much better, I am not as exhausted (I am a single Mom, with a house and a job) I can actually go a whole day without a nap!!!! I guess what I want to let you all know is it seems that at some point, at our own personal rate, we will become our "normal" selves again. Now, if I could just lose these 10 lbs!!!! Keep thinking positive!!!

My baby is 3. She had strep throat from Jan to April. I'm talking off the antibotic for max 4 days and the fever would return along with swollen glands, difficulty swallowing and just plain miserable. Took me 2 ENT referrals for someone to finally agree with me that this is not normal and something needs to be done. We scheduled a T & A for April 18th. The surgeon told me that she had a severe sinus infection as well (surgery day). He recommended that we start Singulair 4mg at night along with Nasonex to possibly help with her constant sinus congestion. I gave it to her and noticed nearly an immediate a change in her disposition.(looking back now) At the time I simply chalked it up to having her tonsils out. She was on the medication until Friday May 9th. Her babysitter said that she was seeing what I was at home...only I hadn't shared my dgtrs behavior at home with her...call it guilt for being a single mom who works...I just thought she was having trouble adjusting from a week at home with mom from the surgery recovery to getting back into the "norm" routine. At home she would cry at the drop of a hat. Not just wimper or whine....but tears and screams for nearly an hour. I would ask her why she was crying and she'd simply reply "I don't know Mommy." One minute we'd be playing and she's be laughing and the next she was angry and anxious. She would complain of "tingles in her feet"...I thought she had just been sitting on her legs and her foot had fallen asleep. She would deliberately instigate her older sister...totally not her. She became fearful of her room at nighttime...and took for ever to get to sleep. A co worker had mentioned that a little boy she worked with had his medicine changed b/c the dr said one of his meds may contribute to his behavior issues. Being a nurse I asked what med...SINGULAIR. I immediately went to the web and googled singulair. I found this site...and began to read parents horror stories of their experiences. She has not had another singulair nor will any of my children - EVER. I feel guilty that I didn't take the time to research it before I put her on it. I feel blessed that I was in the right place at the right time to find out about this site. I thought that my kind and sweet little girl had turned into. I know it's only 5 days off the med but she's back to her sweet self about 75%. I am blessed that my experience was not even a month long...but losing your child to a medication that no one warns you about even for a day is WRONG. I think I would be more "forgiving" if anyone along the line of me picking up the med had said ANYTHING...but no one said a thing. My prayers are with those who were not as lucky as I was to stop this med so quickly. I hope your children return to their pre singluair selfs quickly and permanently.

Hi guys,
I came to this forum after a client at our firm told me to check out whats happening with singular. I am not a lawyer, but I am a secretary for a med mal firm and I can tell you that we have already started taking these cases. I saw a few questions posted about whether you had to wait 9 months for the investigation to finish, but that doesn't stop you from filing suit. If it were my baby boy, I would switch meds, but if you can't--make sure you journal EVERYTHING. Take videos of outbursts, etc. We have one client who's son is self mutilating after using singular. If thats happening to you, try to document the episodes. Like I said, im not a lawyer, but I work for some so I can answer a lot of questions and I would be more than willing to help. I am so disgusted by what I have read. Please email me if you have any legal questions, etc. If i can't answer them, my boss will and if its a medical question, we have a staff nurse so I will give her a call. Again, I am so sorry for what everyone is going through. I pray to god I can help in some way.

I have an 8 year daughter who has been on singular since the age of 4. I began to notice behavior changes, but contributed it to me being a single mom, and her aneixty about school. She became very germ a phobic and these behaviors became worse when she began displaying aggression towards me and her grandmother, not wanting to go to school, inability to focus and very "worried" about getting sick and dying. She is now in the 3rd grade and was diagnosed w/ aneixty disorder and ADHD and is taking two different meds for this. It does take much to get her upset and she often describes herself as a horrible person, and she "hates" her life. This was a very happy infant, and easy going child. Now it is a struggle everyday to keep everything "under control" and her stable. I wonder. Many of the stories that i have just read are so similar to mind and I know how difficult it is. I did not give my daughter her singular as she has mild allergy induced asthma and I will be consulting my Pediatrician ASAP, to find other options.

I'm 46 and been on the Mirena IUD for 5 yrs this Oct'08! It's been great for past the 1st couple of months of extreme headaches and hit-or-miss flow.
I've enjoyed 4.5 yrs. of either no period or slight bleeding each month.
I worked better than the Depo because I didn't have to go get a shot every 3 months (or whatever the procedure is) and more convenient than the Sponge!
I was able to attend Grad School, work and be a single mom w/o PMS, cramps or heavy bleeding. I very rarely used tampons---just slim maxi pads.
However, now that I'm ready to take it out sometime b4 the Oct'08 deadline I'm starting to have a lot of those annoying symptoms I experienced when I 1st got the Mirena inserted: extreme headaches, body aches, slight nausea.
I don't think I'm pregnant because my beau is "fixed" but I have to be realistic in keeping in mind that anything is possible---he may have one good sperm left and I may be in that .01% risk of pregnancy.
I plan to go to the doctor next week to find out what's happening now that my 5 yr. Mirena is about to expire.

I have been SO EXHAUSTED ever since I had my Mirena put in (almost 2 months now). I have a toddler at home and am a single mom, so sure there is already a propensity to be tired, but not like this. I find myself unable to stay awake - I lay down any chance I can, and I sleep in a fog that feels similar to when you're sick and just so "out of it" that you can't imagine being fully awake anytime soon.
Besides that, LOTS of lower back pain, gas pain, abdominal pain. Also, my periods, though much lighter, last FOREVER...10 or more days, and they come whenever they choose, there is no rhyme or reason.
Anyone else feeling extremely tired?? It was so painful to have put in, and I was so looking forward to lighter periods (mine were terribly heavy before) that I'm hesitant to take it out and just keep hoping my side effects go away. Ugh.

I was on Yasmin for a long time- maybe a year or more. That was about 3 yrs ago - I've been off it for at least a year.
Here's my question: how long will these symptoms persist after I go off the pill? I'm not sure why I have my symptoms, but maybe this pill started it. I am constantly in muscle pain, high fatigue, swollen, painful feet daily, ache/painful shoulders, back, hips, but and legs. I am not myself and haven't been in years. Maybe this drug started it.?? Your opinions based on your experience?

I started Topamax about a week ago. Also after starting Depakote which made me gain weight. They stated they would start me on the Topamax due to help with the migraines that I have had all my life and weight loss. I had a recent MRI which stated that I have been having mini strokes. I am a 30 yr old single mom.. Who now has been at home for a week because I feel so ill. My doctor has me taking Topamax at night and I am not sure if anyone else has had these problems but I am really confused between dreams and reality. I wake and think that there are things there. That really are not there at all. Then because I am scared to fall asleep because of what I might dream of since they are all nightmares and I cant seem to get out of them even when I am awake. I feel like crap the next day and have a migraine. Due to lack of sleep. I also deal with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue. I tell the doctors that I am always falling alseep at work. All the meds they give me make me sleepy anyways on top of that. I work 2 miles from where I live and I cant make it sometimes without falling asleep at the wheel. I do not understand why these doctors do not see fit to help me more. This is all affecting my job and life...

I was put on Lisinopril for high blood pressure one month ago. I had previously been on Benicar but could not afford it to be quite honest as I am a single mom. Anyway I developed the dry hacking cough right away but thought it was allergy related as the pollen count around here is unbearable. Finally after taking all kinds of over the counter meds for allergies to try and ease the cough, I finally went back to the doc to be treated for the allergies ? only to be informed by the doc of the cough as a side effect of taking Lisinspril. I had no allergy at all ! He immediatley switched me to Diovan ( I think I have that spelling right as I don't have the bottle in front of me ) and so since I am still coughing some ( not as bad ) and since its just been 2 days I thought I would look into seeing how long this cough was supposed to last after discontinuing the medicine so hence I found my way to this web site listing side effects. Haven't found out how long I might still have the cough after discontinuing but hope its not much longer. Anyway just wanted to post and warn all about the cough. It is horrible and kept me up all night long for weeks and would choke you without warning. Awful stuff althought it did the trick where the blood pressure was concerned I can not justify the cough.

I started Zoloft about four weeks ago for extreme anxiety and major periods. I am 43 yrs old., and a single mom of two children . I am not a "drinker", I will go out when the kids are w/ there dad and maybe have a few glasses of wine. that's like once every two months!
Last week after meeting a friend and having some wine, (two glasses) I was pulled over by the police and got a dui. I could not walk a straight line, was confused and exausted. I am going to loose everything for this. My car, license for ten years and maybe jail. Has anyone ever experienced these kind of side effects while drinking when starting out with zoloft? I looked as though I had twelve glasses of wine. Please help me, I trying to keep my faith.

hello all,
I was on Yasmin for like 5 months. I had missed 2 pills and followed the instructions by taking two then the following day 2 more. However, the next day on my way to work I passed out on the train. I thought maybe taking too many was too much so I stopped. The following day I got tingling/numbness on the left side of my body. I went to see a cardiologist but they found nothing. I've been to the ER twice and they found nothing also. Now I'm working w/ an internist who discovered acid reflux but not the tingling/ now its turned into burning sensations which I feel through my back. I too feel this is related to the pill. However, I'm going to Neurologist on friday. I'm also having a stress test done as well as an MRI of the spine. I'm missing days of work because I almost fainted at work then I was sent home. I had extreme fatigue and weakness and could hardly walk. Did anyone else experience this? Does anyone have suggestions to help me cope? I'm a single mom and one paycheck away from being on the street.

I was put on prednisone for 10 days due to an allergic reaction to a medication. While looking into my car mirror on a sunny day almost a month later, I noticed hair on and under my chin and on the side of my face. This was just a few days ago, and I'll hav to see the dr, but I'm so depressed by this. Esp. since I read these adverse reactions can be permanent. I'm already dealing with a seperation, being a single mom to 3 yr old twins, and alot of other problems. I'm 26, and thinking this might be permanent makes me suicidal.

hi a am a 30 year old single mom of a ten year old. I have been on clonazepam for over five years. I developed panic attacks shortly after having a surgery to correct my heart. I was born with two electrical pathways, and would have heart palpitations that lead me to the emergeny room several times. I am currently taking 1mg three times a day. I would like to get off the drug, and have heard from a friend that I causes damage to your liver. Has anyone heard of that? If anyone has heard please let me know.

i began taking topax in oct 2004 due to migraines and seizes and have a serioues famliy history of brain aneurysm. I started taking smail dose 25mg at night working my way to 200mg a day. My head acheah where a little bitter and the seizes werent as strong and i could felt the medication working to control them . i have always suffered from depression and the medication control my mood i was at first happy. i work at a very stressful place and as my job became overly stressful during our yearly audit time i couldnt cope and i missed my does of medication i began to get all of side effects. weight gain : ( when at first i was losing a bit) mood swings, confusion, i couldnt put my words together right and my thought pattner was off. but, and during that time i wasnt sleeping and one of the things i enjoyed about topmax was the that i could finally sleep at night. i would call my doctor and he would add other things to my medication regain such as vim c for the tingels , iron, and for the headaches i was getting very strong pain medication which i wouldnt take. i was becoming very depressed and had to stop the medication so i did for a about 3 months but i realized that i do need it and now am back on it and try not to miss my doeses which cause my problems, but im facing the mood swings right now but all medication have side effect you just have to make a personal choice what your gonna choose for ou what most important. for me in 34 single mom of a 12 and a set of 5 year twins and ill all they have and so i have to ensure that im at healthly as i can be because they need me.so good luck

The ignorance of our guest M.D., doesn't surprise me at all. Maybe is an arogance acquired in medical school. We are just dumb patients, is that it??? We couldn't possible know anything. . . right??
While there may be the odd person who "coincidently" acquires a health problem, the vast majority here are more than likely correct about the association of the med with their adverse event. Just check the PDR.
Neither the ER, nor the M.D.'s I see thought what I had was a side effect of Levaquin. So, I printed an article out and took it to them, and asked that they share it with their colleagues. I don't expect the docs to "know everything", but when a bizarre symptom suddenly appears in a very healthy person, they should stop and think about it, and check their PDR.
I am a single mom, and it is devastating to have problems with my hands (peripheral neuropathy). This showed up after only 3 doses. I took a fourth dose and pretty much lost all use of my hands. (some in my feet too, and a slight area in my face). Still the M.D's didn't think it was the levaquin, and advised I continue taking it over the weekend. That's when I did my own research, and took it to them. Since stopping the med, my hands are somewhat better, but still not 100%. The fact the they got better after stopping, pretty clearly implicates levaquin.
My advice to everyone. Don't count on M.D's to know. It is tragic that so many people are getting switched to another antibiotic from the SAME family of meds after their initial adverse event! Stay away from quinolones if you can!!

I was really jumpy, leg spasms, couldn't sleep, hot and cold flashes, trembling, nausea. It was like having the flu really bad. I also had a couple brain zaps. I wish I never would have started geodon. It's awful.
