Does anybody have anything GOOD to report about Mirena?
I got my mirena a week ago today. I'm not sure if i'm just being a Hypochondriac - or if I just have a lot going on in my life, but I feel that fog that other women are describing, and I swear I feel like i've gained 5 lbs in a week because i'm so bloated. ?? I scheduled a follow-up for exactly 2 weeks to discuss symptoms with my Dr. I'm scared now! I wish I read these reviews before I got the mirena!!

I love Yasmin! I've been taking it for over a year now (I'm 31). I have little to no pms, super light periods, perfect skin, and no weight gain from taking this. My only complaints would be that I do get mild, dull headaches in the temple areas of my head more often than I ever remember. They're not bad though, and they don't ever last long. They're just annoying. Also, I noticed my period doesn't show up til day 4 of the placebo pill, which can be a little nerve wracking.
My 3 close friends, 2 sisters and a sister in law of mine all take Yasmin and none of us have ever had any major complaints about it. :)

Hello- I am having my yearly physical tomorrow with my doctor. I am seriously considering having my Mirena removed. I have had it for 4 years now and thought that everything was going good. I have just been prescribed antidepressants for the third time in the four years. I was told that i like a lot of people cycle through a depression but now I am thinking that it is due to this. In the last year I found out that I have Crohn's disease. Could somehow this IUD have caused this? I wonder. In the last year i have gained 45lbs and cannot lose it no matter what. I have had no bleeding other than a little spotting now and then but nothing major. I do have headaches very often. I cannot believe that I was not told of these side effects when I had it inserted. My sister-in-law, who is now pregnant, plans use this birth control after she delivers. I will point her this way and let her know what I have learned. I am so glad that there are sites like this one. I will learn more about my birth control before I begin using any now. Thanks to everyone who has posted.

My son is 11 yrs old. I can not believe what I am reading. My son has been taking Singular for about 3 yrs for asthma and allergies. My son was always
happy and the most confident child I know, he did great in school. All of a sudden about 2 years ago everything has changed. He is always moody,
upset, has fits and argues about everything no matter where. My husband and I could not understand it, he was never like this. His grades have gone
down dramatically. One teacher told us she taught he had hearing problems
and that I should have him tested. We did last year and they said he had no
problem and that he needed his adenoids taken out that were swollen and compressing his ear drums so we had them taken out. I do not see a difference we still believe he has problems hearing at times we have even
kind of test him at home at times and he can not hear well, he has even
been talking very loud as if he had a hearing problem. His academics still
continue to drop. We taught this is just a phase he is going through.
Recently at school the teacher told me he might have ADHD and that maybe
I should put him on Medication. I refused !! You see I have a 16 yr old
that has ADHD and had all the symptoms from an early age. But my other
son never showed the signs he was alway attentive and did well in school.
He has been complaining of headaches and stomach aches we had him checked out and nothing we taught maybe he does not want to go to school
or wants attention. He is also depressed at times. My question is will this
go away when he stops taking this medicine. I have not given it to him since
3/21/08 that my sister in law told me about the news. I have an appointment
with his doctor next week. I feel so horrible for not even considering that this
medication might be the problem.

I have a 12 year old son who has been on Singulair off and on since he was 10 years old. It wasn't until he started taking Singulair on a daily basis in 2007 that I saw a change in his personality. I thought it was due to him starting Junior High. He has always been a loving and mild manner kid.
He started having strong mood swings. Yelling, crying, back talking and being very rude and hateful. Then he would go through periods of depression. He wanted to sleep all the time. Wouldn't come out of his room for days.
He complained of Headaches and Stomachaches all the time. He said he had bad dreams and he couldn't sleep.
He even told his dad at Halloween he wish he could be like his costume (which was a skelton) DEAD!! Hearing those words come from my child's mouth broke my heart. Knowing that he could feel such sorrow and pain.
It wasn't until I read the Singulair article that things started making sense to me. I can't believe as a parent that I was giving my child a medication that could have caused him to take his own life. You could imagine how I feel right now. I stopped giving the Singulair. I'm hoping that he will go back to the loving and happy kid he was before this medication took over his body and mind.
And it's not only my son...My nephew who is 6 has been on Singulair for 2 years and he has become very emotional. He has outburst of anger and he is very short tempered. He has bad dreams and cries for no reason. I shared the information with my Sister-In-Law and she stopped the Singulair as well.
I hope my story helps all you parents that haven't heard the truth about Singulair yet. Be Safe!

I can not believe I found this web-site. I honestly felt like I was going crazy and that this was in my head. I was prescribed Levaquin for a sore on my finger to fight infection. I was taking 750mg every morning, once a day. The morning of the 8th day, I woke up and felt like I had been ran over by a truck. I felt foolish telling my family even the "back of my knees hurt." By the evening of that day, after laying in bed for just 45 minutes, I couldn't put down my right leg or put any pressure on it. I haven't taken the Levaquin for 24 hours now and it still hurts to try to open doors because my hands are so cramped. Does anyone else feel dizzy? All of sudden I just won't beadle to focus and my head hurts, only last a few seconds, but it is definitely there. Does anyone feel they have long term pain or affects of this drug? This is unbelievable that so many of us fell this way. Just yesterday I was at the doctor because of the pain. He instructed my to stop taking the Levaquin and told me, he has never hear of anyone feeling this way, but it is listed as one of the side effects and is very rare. Apparently it isn't that rare!! Glad I found you guys.

My sister-in-law started taking Advair about 6 months ago and since then she has been going down hill. From Dec. 20 2007 to today 1/16/08 she has been hospitalized 3 times. First time for pneumonia. Second time for swelling of ankles, feet and belly. Also serious diarrhea. Third time for difficulty with breathing and continued swelling of feet, ankles and abdomen. I am beginning to suspect Advair.

I took the horrible drug for five weeks. I have been to the doctor 3 times. They gave me anti-biotics and said I had brochitis. I have a terrible sounding cough and mucus, I missed over two weeks of work and sent alot of money on medicine. I stopped taking Lisinopril 10 days ago, I feel better but not 100%. My doctor says that if will take a while for the cough to go away. I so mad because I really believed I was dying and took chest x-rays and a TB test. My boyfriend has been giving my dirty looks, and guess he think he going to catch somethimg This medicine has ruined my summer and my vacation, because I'm afraid that I will gave a coughing attack so I stay close to home or if I do go out I keep cough drops and cough syrup in my purse. I feel like a drug addict.

My sister in law has been taking topamax for at least two years now for migraines, I think 50mg a day. She has developed serious issues, which she nor her doctors believe is from the drug. She has back pain, moodiness, sleeplessness, extreme muscle cramping. Most recently, her legs have become extremely swollen, larger than any pregnant woman I have ever seen. The skin on her feet is breaking open and peeling. The doctors can't find the cause, but I think it is the topamax. Has anyone else had this swelling?

Hi Everyone,
I have been taking Topamax 25 mg for 1 week. I can't stand it. Today I am to up my dosage to 50 mg.I am not sure if I want to do that. The side effects suck.. I think I would rather just deal with my migraines, at least I know how to do that since I have had them for over 25 years. I have tried everything and nothing has worked so the Dr. and I thought we would give this a try.
I am trying to keep my place of employment happy with trying to cut down on the migraines but nothing works.
Most days I just want to give up.
Hopefully we will be able to figure something out.
I can't stand the pickhands and feet, the stumbling like I am drunk( and I dont' drink) nothing tastes right anymore, I have the shakes and I ache.
And all it does is makes me sleepy and like I am in another world.
I went to work today and made it half an hour before I came home because I stumbled and almost fell over. And when the boss talked to me it was like I wasn't there. So I came home. I don't know but I don't like it at all.

My son is 15 months. He has been on Omnicef 2 times prior to this with only great results. Where other drugs had failed to cure his infections, omnicef wiped it out. Yet this time I have a different story. I am an RN and have enough education to know that the problem may not be omnicef at all but yeasterday I swore I knew it was. Four days ago my son begain running a temp (102/103). I don't like to rush to antibiotics everytime he gets sick so I decided to wait a while to see what happens (because this was really the only symptom he had). After about a day and a half I noticed a little sinus drainage. My sister in law who is a Family Nurse Practitioner took a look at him and said he has a bit of an ear infection and inflammed throat so she decided to put him on omnicef. The next day his fever broke and seemed to be feeling better. Of course I noticed the usual reddish colored stools but this is normal (as well as some abdominal discomfort and runny stools). Anyways after about 3 doses of omnicef he began to develop a rash on his trunk. This same rash had appeared the last time he had augmentin and thus his Drs weren't sure if he was allergic or not. The rash isn't hives or the type of rash associated with allergies so it was a bit confusing. But, after his 4th dose the rash got 10 times worse. Naturally I started to freak out but this morning I took him to his pediatrician and he thinks its roseola. After reading more about Roseola I am fairly certain this is it but I'm still quite confused about the coincidence with this rash appearing after augmentin and now omnicef. I know that there is cross-sensitivity between penecillins (augmentin) and cephlasporins (omnicef) and so I was really convinced he was having some sort of mild allergic reaction to both. After educating myself more on the signs and symptoms of roseola, I am 99% sure that it is the real culpret. I do wonder however if antibiotics such as the ones I mentioned can aggrivate it??? Anyone else out there have any similar experiences??? By the way, because I am a mother and a nurse, I find it hard to discredit other parents beliefs when it comes to things like this, but you must always stop and ask yourselves if some of these strange "behaviors" aren't due to the fact that your kids are already ill? My son kept me up all night long too and I admit it is tempting to blame the drug but who really knows. My advice is to take the severity of the situation into strong consideration. Like I said, I have had wonderful results with omnicef in the past. but just because a drug works, doesn't mean it doesn't have consequences. Its when the risks outwiegh the benefits that another option should be sought after.

I just read all the posts on this site and was wishing there was an answer after each one from someone who knows. I had a thyroidectomy a year ago and have had several things. The pop up rashes only lasted a few weeks and my sister-in-law had them too only lasting a few weeks when she started on another thyroid medecine. My psoriasis that I had didn't get worse but I got it on my face and had never had that before. I didn't get medecine for 10 days and I don't think that was a good idea. I got stiffness in a couple fingers which has gotten better now. Another lady I know didn't get medecine for 30 days and got carpel tunnel. I can't imagine why she didn't go into a coma by then. My gripe is that my tongue swells so that my teeth make it sore and especially when I lay down to go to sleep. I am so confused on the numbers and levels cuz when it looked like the levels were low, the Dr. put me on 125 instead of 137. I guess it goes backwards from what you would think. I was too tired on that level and my periods were screwed up and my tongue was too swollen so I cut up pills to bring myself back up to 137. I am alright for someone with a mild schedule but I take too many naps and can doze in a very interesting bible study or lay down on the couch and visit a friend and fall asleep on them and feel like a dork. I would appreciate any input from any of you. I do think there must be a lot of people happy on this drug because us who arent are the ones who would find a site like this so if you are new and reading this. Hey you might love it and do well. Reading all the problems would be enough to depress anyone. love y'all

Just started Levaquin 250 mg for a UTI, have only taken one pill (last night) and experienced the most wicked nightmares and disorientation upon waking that I have ever had. Fell asleep at 10:30, awoke at 12:00 and was up the rest of the night with insomnia. I remember my sister in law telling me her husband experienced depression, nightmares and palpatations after being on Levaquin for a few days, and that is what I initially thought of after my head cleared a little last night. Got up, read the PDR (probably should have done that BEFORE I took the meds) and then found this site. Thinking back, I stopped taking this two years ago when I had palpations and severe anxiety. That's it for me!

OK, first off I wanta say that(please don't get mad at me)when my sister in law told me about this website and the things you guys had said about Yasmin I was like "are they crazy?". Well I see now I was. I thought Yasmin was wonderful, I've lost weight and everything, well after reading what many of you wrote I see now my other problems are from Yasmin. Shortly after starting Yasmin I started taking Serafem for extreme moodiness, didn't link the two together. Then I have 0 and I mean 0 sex drive, I've started eating uncontrollably in the past 2 weeks(I've been on Yasmin for 7 months by the way)and the other day I was talking to my husband when all of a sudden I had what felt like an earth quake in my head! My vision shook and I was dizzy and had a horrific headache(which I most of the time have). It wasn't till I found this site that I realize that was a very serious side affect. It could have been a stroke-like side affect. I've been dizzy for quite some time. I also already a heart condition that causes a fast heartbeat so I definately don't need any help in that area. I'm so glad I found this site. I started my first Nuvaring today so I'm looking up. I really would like to report this drug. Good luck to you all!

Coughing at least 3 times during daylight hours.
Nights are horrible. I'm lucky if I get an hour of sleep before the coughing starts.
Have had a chest xray-negative
They have me on Serevent and two other inhalers.
Nose also dried out.
I am falling asleep 7:30pm some nights or as my husband is driving I will fall asleep.
It's been weeks now since I have slept in our bed the entire night.
My sister in law said to check side effects. I will be calling my doctor tomoorow.

Lots of leg cramps & severe bruising have been my problems with this drug. I have been on Yasmin for a year to clear up severe acne, which it did beautifully. But these bruises are really freaky and sore. My sister-in-law is also taking Yasmin and is also having problems with cramping.

Hi my name is Kim. As I posted in the forums this birth control pill remains a mystery. It does different things to different people and I love reading your comments. Please keep them coming. Id love to know your experience with yasmin. This is my first low dosage birth control pill in 10 years and Ive been on it for 5 months. The first couple of months I had bad headaches but other than that this pill has made me feel great. I have never had any luck with weightloss on my other birth controls but since I started this one I have lost around 30 lbs and am amazed and thrilled over that. My sister in law was a different story though. Yasmin made her have migranes during her period and she craved food all the time and gained weight. Plus she felt uptight all the time and wasnt relaxed. Since she switched to ortho tri cyclin lo she is feeling 100 percent better. If so many people are having trouble with yasmin then looks like its only a matter of time and it will end up discontinued. Im sorry for those of you who didnt find luck with it as I did.

My daughter was born in August of 2007; when I heard about Mirena, I was really excited. My sister in law has the copper IUD and loves it. I thought the Mirena was basically the same thing but with a different name. Boy was I wrong. I had the Mirena inserted in March 14, 2008 and ever since then, I feel like my life is slowly falling apart. I have gradually gained 6lbs despite being an avid running and eating well. During my cycle (I tend to gain anywhere from 3-4 lbs of water weight). For the first month, I bled for about 14 day straight, which was not a good time (ruined lots of nice pairs of underwear).
-- By sdaltonking | Reply | Send Private MailThe worst side effect, for me, has been the mood swings; I think I'm psycho; I want to kill my husband most of the time, the poor guy. I have ZERO sex drive, which is also a huge problem for my relationship, so if I keep going at this rate, I think I can blame Mirena for a divorce. Fortunately, I am having this thine REMOVED TODAY!! I cannot wait! I feel as though I was "talked in to" getting the Mirena because I orginally said I wanted an IUD with NO hormones; for some reason though, I left the office with this horrible product. Something needs to be done about this product!
The insertion was not horrible, but it wasn't fun either.
Mirena is the devil!!
