I am 56 years old and was on Advair for about a month and found that I was having night time leg cramps. I have always had occasional problems with night time leg cramps, but the Advair was causing cramps every night. Many nights I was having several episodes which would cause me to get out of bed and walk off the cramp. One night I counted about six times that I got up with very painful cramps. So I stopped the Advair and now I am sleeping again. I think it will take a while before I feel rested again. I am so tired from this whole experience. Leg cramps are not listed as a major side effect for Advair, but it should be. These leg cramps were agonizingly painful.

I don't know how many of my problems are associated with NR, but after reading your posts, I am seriously wondering. Here's what I've got:
--tired all the time - no problem found with my thyroid, I've had it checked multiple times
--weight gain. I don't know how much of this is because I got married when I started NR and of course eat more complete meals rather than on-the-go kind of meals, or how much because I am so tired it is hard to make it to the gym. I will say, though, that for a couple of months I was really good (exercising for about an hour each day, four to six times a week, plus eating much better) and still gained weight. Disappointing. I don't try as hard now - what's the point if exercise and diet don't help?
--no sex drive or much enjoyment while having sex
--pain when having sex - not sure if that's cuz we only have it about once a week (I have to force myself for the sake of my husband). Now I take a bath after sex to alleviate some of the pain. Still annoying, though.
--nasal issues - I know someone mentioned having to take sudafed, I take it every day and also nasonex and mucinex... no apparent nasal problems to the doctors to explain this... I think it's overkill on the meds, but I take them because otherwise I am miserable with nasal problems
--headaches - I have never had headaches bad enough to take even tylenol or asprin before using NR, now I take ibuprofen about 5-6 times a week. I don't know if it is related to the stress of being married or not. I have graduated, so it is not related to stress at school, and stress has never given me bad headaches before. Basically unexplicable for me.
--problems with contacts
--pain in area right below breasts. Very tender. If I touch, it feels as though it will leave a bruise. It doesn't, but it hurts for about a minute before it goes away, just from pressing lightly.
--can't keep the nuvaring in. Not really a side effect, but very frustrating. I also have to keep pushing it in each time I use the restroom. I can't seem to get it in far enough, I guess.
--periods seem to be getting later and later. At first they came like clock-work, the day I took the nuvaring out. But after a year, the period seems to come about the day I put it back in, which leaves me freaked out that I'm pregnant. And they aren't even lighter. They still last about five to six days and are just as heavy, just late.
--muscle stiffness. It is a little hard to walk sometimes. Not sure this is related, but quite a few of you have listed it. Not many cramps though, which is nice.
I have been on NR since a couple months before I got married (about 17 months ago), and hadn't had sex before NR, so I don't know how much NR has affected some of these things since I don't know any different, but as I said before, these are some of the symptoms I have had while on NR, things with no apparent other cause. I am seriously considering another BC option, since I don't really like having no energy and no desire for sex (biggest problems for me).

I had mine removed today, my experience started in May 07; by the first week in June, I had reported to my general practitioner (GP) for first symptoms (headaches), by Dec 08, I had been to my GP, the neurologist and the rheumatologist FORTY SIX times. Prior to that, had been to her only 13 times in 10 years so I KNOW it's not b/c I'm a "sickly" person at age 38. My symptoms were awful, neurolgical mostly, made me think I had MS or Lou Gherig's disease. BUT after reading all the posts on this forum and the other Mirena forums and I'm convinced Mirena was the culprit (fingers crossed).
When the GYN took it out today, it had tissue on it so I'm SURE that it grows into your uterus. He had to manually dilate my cervix and go fishing for it -- very painful. Since then, I've been bleeding very heavily. Has anyone else had Mirena removed and saw tissue stuck to it? Heavy bleeding immediately upon removal?

Hey everyone! My names Janelle and I'm 20 years old. I went on Loestrin about three months ago and am going to quite taking it. I have experienced just about every side effect mentioned above. From depression, breast tenderness, severe mood swings, increased fatigue, and increased weight gain. I am a very healthy eater and exercise almost six times a week. The exercise has helped with the mood swings a bit but has not helped with any of the other side effects. My plan is to stay away from birth control, exercise frequently and remain abstinent until marriage! I know this won't work for some of us so I would recommend taking another pill. I have also tried YAZ and that was MUCH WORSE. Probably the worst birth control pill out there!!!

I just started yasmin. After reading your posts i dont think i want to take this pill. i went to a clinic and this was the only kid of birth control pills they had. I dont want to have any kids ever and i wanted some other kind of birth control besides condoms. I wanted to make sure that i used two types of birth control condoms and something else to make sure that i never will get pregnant. This is the first birth control i have ever taken. I have only taken one pill and i have a headach behind my eyes, i am extemely hungry but get nausea when i look at or smell food, i am tired i can barely stay awake, and i kept waking up like five or six times last night and was sweating. any suggestions on what other types of birth control i should try.

I just recently found this site and am very thankful I did. Has anyone ever even heard of someone being prescribed 1000mg oral prednisone for 7 days, followed by 500 mg oral prednisone for 7 days for a one day occurance of optic neuritis. It happened to my father and he died 3 weeks later. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who can help me make sense of this dosage.

I am 33 years old and and am going next week for my fourth shot. I'm due to get t a total of six for adenomyosis which is similar to enym. I had surgery three months ago to remove fibroids but found out I had this condition. I have not slept in three months. I get up an average of four to six times a night. The hot flashes are the absolute worst so my doctor put me on premrin which has helped with the intensity of the hot flashes, but it makes my eyes very puffy. Since I have been on lupron, I have gained some weight and no matter how hard I work out, I can't seem to drop the pounds. My hair is growing like weeds and my memory (I'm in grad school) is beyond frightening. I can't remember one minute to the next which is really disturbing. I don't have periods anymore. My sex drive has not changed. I'm hoping this is working and I was just wondering if anyone out there went through this and went back to normal and if they did, how long did it take? It's nice to know I'm not as alone as I thought I was before I read all these testimonials.

In June I was prescribed Levaquin for a urinary tract infection. Didn't have any problems at that time, but two weeks later my UTI was back, so they prescribed me Levaquin again. The day after I started taking it, I was experiencing sharp pains in the palms of my hands and the arches and heels of my feet. Since I've been on Levaquin many times before, it didn't even occur to me. By the third day my feet hurt so bad it was painful to walk, and I started breaking out in hives ALL over my body, and I experience some nausea. I obviously had developed an allergic reaction to Levaquin. I was able to look online at my pharmacy's website and track all the times I've been on levaquin. Six times in eight months for ear infections, UTIs and sinus infections. Wow-do you think maybe the doctors rely a little too much on this drug? I'm thinking my body had had so much of it that it finally rejected it. And now I just want to crawl out of my skin-four days of prednizone plus a shot and the hives will NOT go away. It's been a week since I've been off the Levaquin. How long does it take to get it out of my system already????

Hi everyone, I have just read all thirty pages of posts to try to find some answers to my crazy reaction to prednisone. My thoughts are with you all since I have had an usually severe reaction to prednisone. I was on prednisone for 1 week in October 2008 at 60 mg/day for a sinus surgery. I am still having the following side effects at full force:
Axiety to the point I can't socialize
mood swings
hot/sweating even in freezing weather
whole body shakes
severe migraines
tooth sensitivity
muscle pains
extreme thirst (I drink almost 2 gallons/day)
hungry all the time
moon face
water retention around waist
acne
hair loss
rapid heart rate
dizziness
nightmares
night sweats
high blood pressure
high hear rate
I'm not exaggerating, my parent's can contend to that. I do have a history of having sever reactions to medication and I've had all the gland and blood tests which all check out. I never had a single one of these before the prednisone - I was a healthy 22 year old.
I was wondering if any could tell me when this hell will end - my job and well-being depends on it!
