Hi All
I've been on Yasmin for a year. At first, it’s fine until there’s some side effect such as emotionally, leg cramp, headaches, breathless, chest pain, etc. since July ’08. Had stopped taking Yasmin on end Aug ’08. Since stopping it, I feel much better emotionally but was feeling so sick every day as had gained about 9 Lbs, stomach bloating, indigestion, abdominal pain, headaches, water retention (swelling on my finger & legs), having acne on my face, skin become very dry & skin allergy and the worst is that I’m losing lots of hair everyday (about 1/4 of my hair in the past few months and it’s still dropping & some portion already bald).
Could anyone give some advice how to get my hair back to normal through their experience?
Thanks

You people are freaking me out. I just started today with my first dose of prednisone for my first bronchitis diagnosis. I've been sick for 3 months and thought this would be a good med for me to rid the coughing. I'm starting to reconsider taking any more if all I can expect is long term adverse effects. I took this once before years ago for a severe skin allergy. I got the psychosis initially but then adjusted the dose. Then, I would get euphoric and full of energy, like being on a stimulant. I had no idea the round face thing was due to this, I thought I just ate too much while I was home sick for 2 months. I think I'll try the herbal alternative route. If it works, I'll write again and let y'all know. Thanks for all the comments.

I to have a huge dent in my right butt cheek. I would be interested in a class action suit. This is ridiculous! It has been about three months since I received the shot. Has anyone noticed their dents getting better with time?

Im taking 2000mg of niaspan and the flushing thing has happened to me a bunch of times. I immediately take an ALAVERT allergy med and it helps within 5-10 minutes. I wish my doctor told me about this common side effect, I went on for months thinking I was developing a skin allergy.

I took increasing amounts of Niaspan for a number of years and experienced the flushing that even at its worst soon passed each time. But earlier this year, while on 1000 mg, I suddenly experienced terrible itching after showering, even after taking cool showers. It was maddening, as sometimes after a shower, there was no side-effect. When it reached the point one day that I had hives, I stopped Niaspan. I have been off the medication for about 4 months. Two weeks ago, I started up again at 500mg. I have been ok with no flushing. Today, after a cool shower, I experienced a bout of severe itching on my legs. I don't know what to do. I can't tolerate the itching but my HDL has already gone lower than before. Any ideas?

Post your symptoms since stopping Yasmin!!!
Hey everyone it's Kay21 here and I just wanted to post my 3 month off Yasmin update. Because stopping the pill is a hard decision, I figured we should all post are updates here to help/support those who are planning to stop or who have recently stopped Yasmin.
I have been off of Yasmin since April 17. As some of you already know, I was experiencing horrible side effects while on Yasmin for 3 years (particularly stomach problems, vaginal dryness, muscle cramps, increased blood pressure and heart rate and anxiety).
The first 1 month off of Yasmin was okay. In fact, I felt the best I had ever felt in a while. My blood pressure and heart rate decreased and the migraines and muscle cramps went away. But when I hit the 2 month (8 week) mark, I felt HORRIBLE. I was severely depressed and anxious. I was crying all the time and felt a severe sense of DOOM! The physical symptoms also started to become problematic. The acne increased and I started growing more facial hair. The worse symptom, however, was that I started losing a ton of hair. I would lose stray hairs all day (probably about 200 a day). Since I have hit the three month mark, the hair loss has gotten MUCH WORSE! Now I am losing CLUMPS of hair all day. I have seen several doctors about this. Some say it's because of stress and a few (a derm, GYN and endo) say that hiar loss is common after stopping bcp. I have already loss about 1/3 of my hair.
I am also really concerned, because I have not had a period since April 22. So my doctor has put me on provera for 10 days to induce a period.
For those who have stopped Yasmin, what have your symptoms been (i.e. increased acne, weight gain, anxiety, etc.). Has anyone experienced hair loss? How long did it take to get a period???
Thanks...

I have a friend who was on Prednisone (80mg.) for a severe skin allergy and weaned herself off of it because of a severe headache. While she is now off of the drug X 3 weeks, she is still experiencing the headache and nothing relieves it. She is discouraged. She was on Tamoxifen prior to taking the prednisone. Any encouraging words?

I was glad to see a website like this. I was on predisone about 14 years ago and have suffered a lot of the same side effects. The reason you feel so hot is predisone attacks the central nervous system so I was told by a health nurse. I was hospitalized for 45 days after taking this med. I refuse to take it ever again, I really thought I was going to die. After I was released from the hospital it took 1 year befor I felt normal again, it was a long process. You are not crazy but this med. has so many side effects especially if the Dr. puts you on large doses you will begin to question your sanity and I think its time Dr.'s realize this can be a very dangerous drug. I was prescribed this med due to a skin allergy, all I can say is to make sure your doctor is aware of what is going on and if they refuse to see you and say this is normal, I'd get another Dr. real quick.

Oh wow ladies. Thank you all so much, really, for speaking out about this horrible birth control. Everyone but my husband thinks I'm crazy for associating the Mirena with all of these symptoms. I got mine in December '08 after having my daughter in October. Within a month I had lost my breast milk. I bled for about 3 months straight, plus severe cramping (I screamed that I wished I was in transitional labor again and I gave birth without drugs), and all the other things you ladies have said. I thought there was something horrible wrong with me. I can't have sex because it's too painful for me. My entire genital area has been irritated and swollen since I got the Mirena. Since I have sensitive skin, I just thought (at first) it was some sort of skin allergy to detergent or something. I've since switched everything: underwear, detergent, soap, toilet paper, etc. and it hasn't helped. Now I've finally started finding out about the negative side effects of the Mirena and I know it's causing all of these problems. My doctor and everyone else I've talked to about this has told me that there was no way that the Mirena could cause these problems, but I know my body better than them.
Thank you again, ladies.
