Skin condition symptoms and conditions

Been taking this for the past ten years and it is the only thing that allows my skin to quickly recover from eczema. Eczema started at age 22. After my first injection I felt more powerful than Darth Vader and noticed an increase in energy and stamina. A few weeks later, a crash begins and I feel the side effect of lethargy. Consistently, after each Kenalog shot, my skin will develop several pimples around my buttocks area and sometimes on my back after a month or two. I would prefer never to use Kenalog, but it has been the only thing that relieves the patches of skin that become red and flaky due to stress, lack of sleep, and a poor diet. Ultimately, I did develop 'hypercutia' which is a skin condition which allows my dermis to bleed more easily. After stopping the Kenalog injections for a few years, my entire dermis still remains thin and more vulnerable to bleeding. I make my living as an actor and it is part of the reason i still rely on Kenalog whenever an audition comes up and I need to show my body. The pimples eventually become little scars, which eventually become little darker spots on my body. I still believe that in spite of all the side effects, it is worth it if you make your living as an actor or model.

I had MIRENA put in OCT 2003 and just got it removed OCT 13th 2008 - the greatest thing ever was no menstrual cycles, although I did have the sore back and breasts every month.....I noticed a decrease in my libido after my son was born but thought it was due to having a child and just getting older, changing. schedules etc...I also noticed a tremendous hair loss within the last year and an unusual skin condition on my chest. Turns out i have psoriasis! ?? anyone else have derm issues with MIRENA? .....anyway after it was removed my libido has increased 100% and now I finally know it wasn't just me!! My husband is soo happy! :)

I'm a 35 year old stay at home mom and graduate student. Since taking a 10 day course of Avelox for a nasal cavity infection I have had severe hives for the last three weeks. The hives started about a week after finishing the Avelox course. The doctor that prescribed me the Alevox told me that it is what is causing my skin irritations. I have good days and bad. Sometimes I wake up with swollen eyes and puffy lips. The hives are extremely irritating and look like a chemical burn. They cover about 75 percent of my body. The worst irritation seems to be on my feet, legs, arms, face and hands. The only thing that takes away the discomfort are oatmeal baths; however the hives are quick to return. I don't know how long I will suffer with this skin condition. I am on my second course of prednisone and I take antihistamines around the clock, but still no relief.

I was prescribed LEVAQUIN 500mg/day for 30 days. In that duration this is the list of side effects: diarrhea, sleep disorders, insomnia or excessive, and I mean excessive fatique, washing the dishes made me want to nap. heart racing, trouble breathing, tingling sensation either on my left or right side of my body, headaches. I actually finished the script, and now I have a yet undiagnosed skin condition which looks similar to MRSA, but the culture came back negative. The skin sores are very painful, so my doctor put me on DOXYCYCLINE 400mg/day for 2 mos, it didnt help the skin condition and only worsened the effects of LEVAQUIN, now my doctor has me on BACTRIM, because he is convinced it is MRSA. I am also suffering from severe depression, i never contemplate suicide, yet i would drift in and out of daydreams of wanting to quit, dizziness, when I was on LEVAQUIN my equilibrium was completely off. This skin condition is very painful, and I am on my 3rd antibiotic since June. I think I need help too!

Hi there I have had the mirena for over a year. I breastfed my child so therefore I had only one period after delivery and nothing since.I thought that the first year was pretty normal but I had a lot of cramps I thought they were just "period cramps" so I didn't think that much of it however in this year alone I am seeing more mood swings in my self as well as depression. I have been to the doctors more times this year I have been in my whole life. I was also seen for eczema which is a skin condition. I had it so sever that it covered most of my body. I also went to the doctors today and was told that I have an enlarged uterus and ovary I am going for an ultrasound. Oh yeah and to top all of that off I also at 22 do not have a sex drive anymore. So no sex drive, mood swings, eczema, depression,enlarged uterus and ovaries. Yeah so after my ultrasound mirena will be coming out!

IM trying to figure out if Boniva is causing me to have severe eczema on my hands and feet; palms and soles. I am 58 yrs old and never had this happen before. I began taking Boniva in late Nov 2007. Followed directions carefully. The first week I STARTED TO HAVE the flu like symptoms and fatigue lasted well into january and also seemed to lose a sense OF TASTE FO R FOOD AND DRINK. JAN17TH -FEB 2 GOT AN AWFUL FLU THAT LASTED ABOUT 5 DAYS. 102 FEVER, MUSCLE ACHES, PAIN, JUST AWFUL. THEN MISSED TEN DAYS AT WORK BECAUSE IT TURNED INTO A SERIOUS BRONCHIAL/ UPPER RESPIRATORY INFECTION- I FELT LIKE I HAD WHOOPING COUGH.THE DOC GAVE ME A REALLY STRONG ANTIBIOTIC-( CLARITHROMYCIN ) AND IT TOOK ME UNTIL MID MARCH TO FEEL LIKE MY SELF. NOTE; I HAVE NOT MISSED MORE THAN A DAY OF WORK FOR SICKNESS IN OVER TEN YEARS.)drink. The taste buds seem to have come back but WHEN I TAKE THE BONIVA PILL I FEEL FLU LIKE AGAIN- FOR ABOUT THREE-FIVE DAYS.
ALL OF THIS WAS BAD ENOUGH BUT I CHALKED IT UP TO FLU SEASON ETC' THEN IN MID MARCH I STARTED TO HAVE A TERRIBLE CASE OF ECZEMA ON THE SOLES OF MY FEET AND PALMS OF MY HANDS, IT IS REALLY CHRONIC AND VERY PAINFUL. I HAVE TO SLATHER MY HANDS AND FEET WITH VASELENE EVERY NIGHT .AND HAVE BEEN TAKING PROBIOTICS AND L-LYSINE FOR THE PAST MONTH WHICH DOES SEEMS TO BE HELPING- BUT NOW I'M WONDERING IF THE SKIN CONDITION IS A SIDE EFFECT FROM THE BONIVA? FIRST THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE THE CLARITHROMYCIN. BUT I HAVE A GUT FEELING ITS THE BONIVA/ ANY IDEAS?

I had kenalog 10 injections in my scalp due to a skin condition Prurigo Nodularis. After about 3 treatments (2 weeks apart), I started noticing indentations at the injection sites. I've now done a little research and see that other people have had these side effects. I will consult back with my doctor to see what's the problem.

I was prescribed Doxycycline 100mg tablets twice a day, for 3 to 4 months, for a skin condition (perioral dermatitis) which causes small sores to form around my mouth. After my experience with this antibiotic, I'd rather have the sores!

I took the Doxycycline twice a day for the first week with no side effects. Antibiotics always cause yeast infection, so I took Diflucan before I started treatment and didn't have that problem. On the tenth day of the Doxycycline, (two days ago) I took a tablet with a little water and went right to bed. As I have read in previous posts on here, BIG MISTAKE! It felt like a giant gas bubble just below my breastbone, in my stomach area. Not too painful, but annoying. Every time I woke up during the night, that feeling was still there. The next day, the pressure was still in that area of my stomach, and it began to feel like heartburn. This feeling persisted all day, no matter what I ate or drank, which is very unusual for me as I don't usually have stomach problems. That's when I searched the web for side effects of Doxycycline, and found this website.

After reading many posts on this site, I decided it was indeed the Doxycycline, so didn't take them yesterday. However, the bloated, burning feeling was still present last night, a full 24 hours after the last capsule had been taken.

I had read someone's post about drinking apple juice, and thought it couldn't hurt...and I'll be darned if within 15 minutes that bloated, burning feeling went away, and hasn't returned. I don't understand WHY that works - unless maybe there is residual medicine sitting in the stomach which can't be digested, and the acid in the apple juice neutralizes it, but it WORKS!

I will NOT take any more Doxycycline, and will just keep the perioral dermatitis! I didn't have the depression or fatigue I see others have had, but since I was only on the meds 10 days, maybe those symptoms didn't have time to develop.

Hi all! I just began taking YAZ two weeks ago and things were fine up until two days ago. I started experiencing itching on several parts of my boy an last night, realized I had hives on my waist at my back, near my underarms and have serious itching all over the rest of my body including the palms of my hands. Please, please, please if anyone reads this an has had similar side effects, please let me know. Furthermore, I did not take the pill last night as I knew this could be the only thing causing these issues. Does anyone know the reprecution of stopping the pill mid month? Please let me know and thanks for your help!

I've had my Mirena for about 15 and a half months and I am having it removed today at 2 o'clock. At first I had sharp pains when I would sit down and I felt like the cords were poking me and irritating me. My OB/GYN requires patients to come back one month after having it put in so he can check it and make sure it is still in place. At this visit he also trimmed the cords although he acted like he didn't believe me when I told him that I could feel them poking me when I sat down and that it hurt. At first I didn't notice any bad side effects, but I did have one good one: my periods stopped, but I still had occasional and sporadic spotting. I didn't think to look for any bad side effects because I got the device under the impression that it had no bad side effects. I thought it only had a rare complication of perforating the uterus, but since mine was in place at the one month check, I didn't think about anymore until I started thinking about having another baby recently. I went online to see if I had to have a doctor remove the Mirena or if I could do it myself, and I found out that it's best done by a professional because bad things can happen and then you'd have to go to the doctor anyway. Plus, I didn't want to hurt my chances of having another baby. While online I discovered this whole world of message boards where women were having a lot of the same problems I'd been having in recent months and they all blamed their Mirenas. Some claimed that their problems had gone away since having it removed. I never thought to link my circumstances to the Mirena, but when I saw how many women are having the exact same problems as me I knew that I needed to go ahead and get mine out ASAP. Here is a list of my side effects, and I've found other women have had them as well with Mirena: weight gain, bloated stomach, depression, short temper with husband and daughter, acne, low sex drive, spotting, cramps, constipation, and back pain. There may be more, but I can't remember them all right now. Some of them may not even be related to the device, but I've read of so many women with Mirena who are having or have had the same issues, so I suspect a link between my problems and Mirena. I took this medication seven years ago. After a couple of days I broke out into hives. When the initial Hives went away I kept itching. Then, the itching began to spread all over my body. I have been turned away by many doctors who wished me luck and said they were sorry but they couldn't help me. Since then, I have become a science project for doctors. I have taken a number of medicines to calm me down and an assortment of creams and lotions. One spray that takes the itchy hives away for awhile is CLOBEX. It's very expensive. It costs me $250 a month (out of pocket). The only medicine that relieves the condition for about a week is prednisolone (another drug that's not so great for you). I now take that once a month for one week’s relief. Each night, I have to scold myself in the shower to relieve the itching for a few hours so I can go to sleep. I'm currently at a new Dermatology Clinic. Guess what they prescribed for me? CEPHALEXIN, the drug that caused the poor quality of my life I now have. Doesn't anyone listen to the patient? The only best medical friend I have is my Primary Care Physician who has greatly supported me all these years. I pray that someone may read this and I have an answer me.
If you have not yet taken CEPHALEXIN, think about it long and hard. It's not for everyone and MAY not be for ANYONE. If you've read this far in my note, I consider you a new friend.

Still Itching in New Jersey.

so far so good except a few headaches

On my six day of taking this medication I awoke in the middle of the night with a fever of 101 and was shaking almost uncontrollably due to chills. The next morning, the fever subsided but I began noticing red, rash-like dots all over my arms, legs, and torso. After doing some research on this medication and learning about some of the possible SERIOUS side effects I decided to go to the emergency room. The ER doctor told me I did not have "Stevens Johnson Syndrom" (my original fear) and prescribed me some Benadryl and Prednazone. A day later the rash has not improved and seems to be a little worse. The areas are red and feel warm--almost like a sunburn. I'm obsessed over this and am wondering if the doctor misdiagnosed me. Has anyone who developed a fever/rash from this drug and remember how long it lasted? Even tho the ER doctor released me, should I question this?

I HAD BEEN ON 80MGS. OF PREDNISONE FOR TREATMENT OF SEVERE SORIASIS. IT WORKED WONDERS FOR THE SKIN CONDITION. , I WAS SPEEDING MY BRAINS OUT , AND GOING 100 MILES PER HOUR. IT WAS SOMEWHAT EUPHORIC. I AM 45 YEARS OLD AND HAVE BEEN IN MENOPAUSE SINCE MY LAST CHILD WAS BORN 5 YEARS AGO. AFTER I TAPERED OFF THE PREDNISONE OVER A MONTH PERIOD... I STARTED TO HEMMORAGE. I HAD UNCONTROLLABLE VAGINAL BLEEDING, BLOATING , PAIN, MOOD SWINGS, DEPRESSION, ETC. THE BLEEDING DID FINALLY SUBSIDE AFTER BEING OFF THE DRUG FOR 10 DAYS. HOWEVER , NOW THE SKIN IS DETERIORATING, AND THE JOINT PAIN IS EXCRUCIATING. I CAN BARELY WALK. I AM A DANCE TEACHER, AND THIS IS BECOMING DEBILITATING. I ALSO HAVE A CANCER HISTORY, AND THYROID DISEASE. IT WAS AND IS ROUGH. I GUESS I HAVE A CHOICE BETWEEN HAVING HORRID, DISGUSTING SKIN ( AND UNABLE TO GET A PUBLIC JOB) AND BEING EMBARRASSED ALL THE TIME AND DEALING WITH THE VERY DIFFICULT SIDE AFFECTS OF THIS MEDICATION. I AM HOPING FOR A BETTER ALTERNATIVE. THE SUFFERRING IS UNBEARABLE. LIBBY B.

Please help! I was on Prednisone for about 3 months for pyoderma gangrenosum (skin condition on my shin). I gained around 12 pounds and thought it would have disappeared by now. I have been off of the Prednisone for 5 weeks, have been eating well, and have been working out 4 to 5 times a week. How much longer before this weight goes away?

I guess I'm lucky - I suffer periodically from "pimples" under the arms that turn to abscesses. I've had one drained surgically, two nearly at that stage and a few luckily gone away. I also had one on my leg that was surgically drained.
I was prescribed Doxyclcine and have been on it for a month.
I noticed sensitivity to temperatures - particularly sun. I would step outside and almost straight away feel my arms burning (I've never worn sun block on my arms, legs before). The burning leaves quite different reddedened areas - like blood spots.

My condition is very periodical and comparatively minor so I've chucked the doxy out today. Fingers crossed it doesn't recur again soon.

p.s. my skin condition only started after having children.

I only added this just in case someone else suffered in the same way - there don't seem to be any reports of it - only moer serious side affects.

In Sept. of 2003, I had an eczema breakout, when I went to my Dermatologist I was given a Kenalog shot, which helped with the skin condition but, noticed several days later I had some bleeding from the rectum. When I went to the Family Doctor to have this checked, was scheduled for a coloscopy. When I talked with my Dermatologist, he said it was possible this was a side affect from the Kenalog.

This past Sept. 16th, 2004, had major skin flare-up when I applied Calamine Lotion to my skin that had some breaking out and was itchy. The Dermalogist said that some people who have eczema cannot Calamine Lotion; hence the flare-up of my skin. I was given a Kenalog shot on the 16th and then again on the 24th along with a Benedryl Shot for the itching.
I have had for the past 4 days a headache, soreneck on the right side of my neck as if I've slept wrong and menstrual type bleeding from spotting to heavy bleeding. My Dermatlogist again said that it's possible that this is a reaction to the Kelagon again. I just wanted to pass my experience on to others who have had this treatment.

Are these side effects for long term use?????? I have just been put on Predisone for a bad skin condition, "Granuloma Anulari" but only for 30 days. Will I get side effects that soon? Do any of you out there have this skin problem and been put on Predisone for it????????? Results???????

I took Yas for 2 months, both months right before and during my period I got these HUGE, CYSTIC erupting pimples that were so painful and lasted for 2 weeks, wouldn't heal and got severe scarring. It was so horrible and I have never had such bad skin condition in my life. I did lose a little bit of weight but I was moody, irritable and depressed, more so than on any other pill.
