I was prescribed 42 pills (20 days) of 10 mg Prednisone which I am to take beginning with 4 pills for four days and steadily decreasing every four days down to four 1/2 pill the last four days. I took my first dose yesterday and was told to drink lots of water. I do not wish to gain weight nor have a moon face. My doctor does not feel this will affect me in that way, but may have water retention (swelling). I am 73, and this regiment of Prednisone was prescribed to decrease inflammation due to a possible siatic nerve problem, which is causing extreme pain in my left leg. The pain is excruciating when I get up in the morning but eases down by mid morning with some pain all day and some nights if I move just the wrong way.Does anyone have a suggestion for the best foods to eat and what to avoid? I read that grapefruit juice may be beneficial.

Six years on Singulair and I didn't think that I had any side effects. I did develop multiple health issues that no one tied to the Singulair. To understand the range of the side effects that Singulair had on me, Google Churg-Strauss Syndrome. Before quitting Singulair in mid February of 2006 I was close to dying. All of my health issues (including a very high tryglyceride level) began reversing after stopping Singulair. My once great memory is returning, the chest pains have stopped, the arthritis is reversing itself, the anxiety attacks are less often and less intense, the muscle and joint pain is gone, the weird skin lesions are gone, etc, etc, etc.

I still have mild asthma issues but I'm getting my life and myself back. Singulair might work well for some people and have no significant side effects, but in my case it stole my health, my life, and my spirit. If you are a long time user of Singulair be aware of Churg-Strauss Syndrome and if you have some of the related side effects (Churg-Strauss Syndrome is a known side effect of Singulair) get to your doctor before it kills you. Good luck to all of you.

I am a 45, male and I recently experienced a severly torn bicep muscle and a friend mentioned to me that it could be related to degenerative muscle loss from Lipitor. After reading all the articles posted here I realized I have been suffering for 6-7 years.

I have had, ringing in my ears, muscle cramps, disabling lower back pain, skin lesions, swollen neck to the point I can't look up any more, anxiety, depression, racing heart beat, weight gain and high appetite and chest pains. Over the years I have had several of the episodes you all have described and I attributed them all, AND SO DID MY DR. to something else.

The muscle tear in my bicep seemed wierd since I have been to the gym regularly for 2 years. My wife thinks I'm a hypochondriac for complaing about every little pain, but in retrospect it must have been the Lipitor.

At a recent check up all my numbers were great, and I remember my Dr. telling me that the benefits of this drug out weighed the side effects, but I would like to see the proof.

Would anyone recommend a less side effect laden drug?
