I have been on Lamictal for about five months for bipolar II. I has been increased slowly over these months and I am now up to 300 mg a day. I have a tendency to sometimes forget things but remembering numbers has never been a problem for me. In fact I can look at someone's tag number driving down the road and remember it for days. Phone numbers of people I have known for 20 years would stick and I wouldn't even have to call them on a regular basis to know the number. However, recently while trying to use my bank debit card at the store I was asked to enter my PIN number and totally could not remember. I tried it several times but it never came to me. I felt like a fool!. At this time, that was three days ago and I still cannot remember it!
This is very, very distressing to me. I feel like something has been wiped clean and that I will never get it back.
My Lamictal dose has been increased in the last couple of weeks and I thought maybe Lamictal or one of my other meds could be making this happen so I started researching and found this site where other people were complaining of memory loss while on Lamictal.
Headaches are another common side effect for me while on this med. It has really helped me emotionally and I need to know if the memory loss is just going to be a temporary thing and it will get back to normal or if I will be forgetting more and more over time. PLEASE HELP!!!

I put up with Yasmin for just 10 days because it turned me into a completely different person! I was shocked at how quickly it affected me! The doctor changed me to Yasmin because it would be better for my skin (I've been on Trifeme for about 3 years with no problems other than a recent skin pigmentation) and started taking it one Saturday morning. The next morning I woke up feeling terrible, and snapped at my bf really badly. I was really really angry for no reason at all! I got really dry, sore eyes and wasn't sleeping well at all. I'd be so tired during the day I felt like I could just put my head down on the desk and go to sleep!! These feelings continued and worsened every day, until I started feeling like I could punch something if it stepped out of line... and the tiniest things would annoy me so much, like simply my bf sneezing! After a week I looked up the side-effects of Yasmin (disbelieving that something could effect me so quickly) and when reading the many sites like these I suspected it could be the pill. After a few more anger attacks and crying for no reason (and a particularly bad case where I cut my finger and yelled at my bf because he got me a band aid, locking myself in the bathroom and crying for 30 minutes - go figure?) I decided to stop taking Yasmin. I've been off it for 5 days now and I feel so much better!!! Never again! I'm going to try a pill-free lifestyle for while I think and use other forms of contraception... it's just not worth it.

I just wanted to follow up to my earlier posting. (I have copied it below). Turns out the side effect was not from Yasmin. Actually caused by a nerve. I wanted to post a follow up should anyone be scanning this site.
I started taking Yasmin in July. I had taken other traditional birthcontrol pills for years. Decided to try Yasmin as my OBGYN suggested it may help with weightloss as I was having a really hard time losing weight despite diet and excercise and ruling out other issues. I have not had the side effects such as anxiety and skin pigmentation that others mention. It did make my periods heavier and more cramps. Cramps mostly went away with ibuprophin.
However, I have been having a symptom that I am wondering if others have had. I have been to my primary care doctor, orthopedist, nuerologist, vein specialist, and no one can seem to find the issue. I am now wondering if it could be a Yasmin side effect. Since mid July what started out as a tingling (almost numbness) in my upper right thigh. It sometimes feels like pins and needles, other times like a bruise, and other times like a sharp pain. Seems worse at night. But numbress is always there.
I am very interested in hearing what people have to say. I am going to make an appt with my OBGYN to try another pill.

I am 36 and I've been taking Yasmin for 6 months now. 13 years ago I took ortho novum 777 for my first 6 months of marriage and it was a nightmare. The anxiety was so bad and I am thankful my new marriage made it through that rough first 6 months. I quit it then and refused to take another for 13 years. I have terrible pms and HEAVY bleeding. It was causing me to stay home for about 2 weeks out of the month. I was put on lexapro for the pms b/c I would not take the pill. I gained 25 pounds in 2 months so quit that. finally decided to go with the yasmin and it has been really really good for me. My last period was so light that I just could not believe it. I feel very good on it. I was always "happy" when pregnant and that is kind of how I feel on it now. Not sure how that will be down the road. I do have skin pigmentation like I had when pregnant and I have dry eyes and some headaches around my eyes. So, I guess the jury is still out. I do think it raised my cholesterol. I will say that if I have to discontinue it, I will be upset because I feel like I have my life back regarding my menstrual cycle. It is also great to skip a period if I am going on vacation, etc. Maybe age has something to do with it. Maybe women who have had children and deal with pms/heavy periods are better candidates for yasmin.

i was taking yaz for about 1-2 years. it was great - my moodiness subsided, lighter periods, no cramps, and it made my acne go away. i noticed that the longer i was on yaz, the more frequent my migraines became (4-5 per month). i didn't realize it at first because i have always gotten migraines (3 per month) since i was a child and i would always attribute the migraines to either stress or stormy weather. with the increase in migraines, i started trying various migraine medications, including zomig and maxalt combined with an alleve. however, i recently switched to nuvaring because my doctor said my blood pressure increased and i was placed on a low dosage of a beta blocker. nuvaring has a lower dosage of hormones and was recommended to me. i used nuvaring for 2 months and then stopped because i had problems with it slipping out. tired of trying differed birth control methods, i simply asked to go back on the yaz. this is when it dawned on me. the entire time i was using the nuvaring, i barely had any migraines (maybe 1 or 2 over 2 months compared to the usual 3-4 per month). i've been back on the yaz for 2 months now and i am having a migraine EVERY week and they last about 2-3 days long. i'm seeing my doc ASAP and getting of this pill immediately. i'm tired of the migraines interrupting my life. they completely immobilize me. i also noticed it completely got rid of any sex drive i have.
