My blood pressure was sky high and i couldn't sleep for 4 nights in a row then realized it was the nuvaring too!
It has been 10 days since Ive removed it and pressure is down a little but still have chest pain arm pain and shortness of breath. Was in the ER over the weekend!
Do you know when (or if) things should go back to normal? I went through this with bc pill in the spring and was totally fine in 3 days!

I cannot believe that I have been using NuvaRing for such a long time and Torturing my body. I am 25 years old mother of two, I have been using it for about 2 years now and for the last 1 1/2 year I have been suffering from constant chest pain, anxiety, panic attacks, lost of breath, depression. I can seriously tell you that as of today I am removing the NuvaRing and every chance I get to explain to people the harm this thing can do I WILL. I hope that once I remove it I can live my life like a normal person....

Hey there ladies,
Well I am on week 4 of the NuvaRing and it is out. Everything was going just great until I needed to take it out.
After taking out the NR the emotions and depression had sky rocketed!
My fiancee and will be having a discussion and he will say something that I don't like and I will end up flying off the hinges as he is there looking at me like I am flipping crazy (which I am right now). Then I will go off in my room crying and then I will start balling wondering what the hell is wrong with my head and the way that I am thinking. It almost feels like there is a monster inside of me that controls how I feel and it scares me a lot.
Before I have always been a happy go lucky person.
Not these days.
I have not had any other side effects that others have mentioned except for the weight gain.
Please, if you care about your sanity and health, don't take the NR. As I have read so far, there are so many bad things that can happen to you.

Went off simvastatin in March, all pain went away within a couple of months, but muscle weakness in legs remained. In October, found out my cholesterol is sky high, over 325. So Dr. wanted to try Crestor 5 mg. Within 1 week, I had overwhelming fatigue, could hardly stay awake during the day and the weakness in my legs was getting worse. So I just went off Crestor. Frustrating!!

I have had mirena since March 2007. I am so ready to get rid of this. I can admit that the first 6 months for me were amazing, no troubles at all. but about the the 6 month mark i started getting nausea, stomach pains which are like little stabbings in my cervix area, depression, i am very mean and moody. i am tired. and i cannot lose any weight. when i had my son in January 2007 i weighed 200 lbs, once i inserted the mirena i ended up sky rocketing to 225, the amount i weighed pregnant! i started working out to lose weight in march of this year, and have since lost 45 pounds, but it has been with a hardcore diet and exercise program. i used to weigh 143, so i'm trying to get back to that weight. i am currently stuck though.
I have no energy, always want sweets, which i used to never crave. i have horrible back pains. my vision seems to suffer at times also. i bleed after sex, not a lot but a little. i have this odor that didn't exist before with some discharge. but i am going to go to the doctor here soon. i am tired of this weird body i have encountered since having Mirena. i also have major hair loss and acne.

I have been on Toprol XR generic brand metoprolol since February 2008. No side effects originally. My blood pressure wasn't extremely high but enough that I needed something. Just recently, my BP has sky rocketed. Dr. upped med from 25 mg per day to 50 mg per day. In the last month, I have put on 18 pounds. I am lethargic, not sleeping well at all. Mostly 2 hours a night. I don't have nightmares, just can't sleep. I want off this drug. It isn't controlling my bp anyway. I have a doctor's appt. in a few days. I don't look forward to the withdrawals but it has to be better than the alternative and staying on it. I am afraid of CHF. My legs, hands and face are swollen from fluid retention. I have pitting edema in my legs. I am not having trouble breathing but I don't want that to happen before I decide to go off of it. The website has helped me to realize it is the meds and not me. Thanks for the support.

I was put on PredniSONE for my asthma. On day two of taking it I started to feel really awful. I couldn't lay down, sit down or stand without feeling like I was going to explode. So hubby took me to emergency. My blood pressure was sky high. 201 over 90, they put me on a fluid retention iv drip. I had retained way to much fluid and it made my blood pressure go skyhigh.

Hi all. I'm wondering if anyone can help me. I'm a 34 year old woman. I gave birth to my daughter in October 2005 and in December 2005 I had the Mirena coil inserted. It's due to finish up this December as it's approaching the 5 year mark.. In the last 6 months, my skin has gone from being clear as a frosty sky to that of an acne ridden 15 year old. I'm breaking out on both my cheeks, neck, jawline and chest. Could this be a side effect of the "winding down" hormones in my coil? I've had the coil in almost 5 years but I'm only getting really bad skin now...... for the past 6 month or so. I've always had relatively good skin so as you can imagine, this is most distressing for me. Could it be the "last of the hormones" in the coil? Could anyone shed light on this for me? I would have thought that if my skin was going to "break out" with the coil, it would have done so almost immediately after inserting the coil in in the first place..... Not almost 5 years later! I've no allergic reactions to creams, lotions, foods, etc. My diet is quite good (I've never changed my diet so it's not diet!), I'm not stressed. I get at least one new spot every day. They last for days, or a week. They are really deep rooted so most of them I can't even "pop"! Can anyone help? It's my birthday next week so it would be the perfect birthday present......

Regards and thank you in anticipation

Yvonne xx

I lied about when I was taking risperdal. I took it from the end of 6th grade to before I started 11th grade. When I first started to take it, my weight sky rocketed. I went from being 140 to being 200 pounds in the first 6 months. After that, I went from being 200 to being 254 pounds in 10 months and then I reached my highest weight of 262 by March of 2003. It was a constant battle to get the weight off while being on risperdal and I stayed at 262 pounds until I started the 11th grade. That's when I was put on seroquel and taken off of risperdal. I am no longer taking risperdal or seroquel. I am now taking 5mg of Abilify and as of yesterday, I have lost 100 pounds in a year in a half. My weight today is 162. I use to wear a size 22-26 and today I wear a size 12-13/14. I love my new lifestyle of eating right and exercising and I never want to go back to being fat and lazy.

Yasmin is a steroid so when coming off it you can suffer all the same symptoms as someone stopping a steroid drug... and by the way, when people are taken off steroids it's done in a controlled way - they cut down on them very slowly by reducing the dosage. It's a real shock to the body to just stop a steroid. This could explain why a lot of us feel so terrible when we stop taking it. I know I had a real increase in severity of symptoms followed by months and months of exhaustion and fatigue.

My God, This is so confusing!! I 'm 23 yrs old and I've been taking YASMIN for about 2 yrs. It really helped with my period pains, my periods were lighter and everyday in every month was totally normal for me. Everyone else in the world had the pains pains except me!!
A couple months ago, I decided to stop taking the YASMIN, because I thought that maybe I would be ok without it and save myself some bucks everymonth. But Oh My GOD!!
I never believed in the existence of PMS until last week:
I was on a diet and last week I just ate junk food none stop, my mouth was like a conveyor belt for ice cream, cake, chocolate, meat, pizza. And I knew I should stop cuz I was ruining all the progress I made with my diet... But I couldn't stop eating!!
My libido sky rocketed... Which was difficult because I was trying so hard not to be sexually active with my horrible ex-boyfriend... I tried to concentrate on other things, but having sex was literally taking up everything!!! I felt like a real whore....
My ability to suppress negative emotions was also difficult. I usually deal with a lot of upset persons on the phone and I usually am the one to re-assure them and give them all the information they need. One of my superiors enjoys picking on me and I ALWAYS let it slide. But last week... My God, I knew I was getting angry, I told myself "don't allow yourself to look ignorant and blow up" but it was as if I didn't have control!!!
I got bad cramps days before my period. Usually I get them the day before or on the day of my period. But I couldn't function!!!
My period came really really really late, by about a week and a half. I was so worried that I was pregnant especially because of my week of weakness with my ex... I took four EPT's.
When my period finally came... It came really heavy. This is embarrassing. But I'm wearing adult diapers at night. Tampons would be a waste. When I use the bathroom, blood just drips out in large gross clots.
And so I'm starting back on YASMIN.
Friends who took YASMIN experienced negative side effects: breast tenderness, leg cramps, increased PMS. But what I listed here was what happened when I came off it for two months. I'm not recommending it. But after reading this I realize that we are all different, different how?? I guess we'll need a Gyno or MD to give reliable answers.
Good Luck, and my condolences to you all!

Inserted 2-25-08
Insertion uncomfortable but would do it again for 5 years of birth control with little to no period and not having to worry about taking the pill or paying $50 and up a month for it.

Now the down side: am losing my hair little by little and my blood pressure is sky high. Two years ago my pressures were perfect through my whole pregnancy and now as high as 140/90. Have been working out 3 times a week and can't seem to lose the baby belly. After reading these posts am wondering if Mirena is the culprit there too.

Called the doctor today to ask to have it removed. Appt. scheduled for mid August. Wish the side effects weren't there because it would be wonderful otherwise.

I just wanted to share my experience with Mirena and hope that it helps someone else. I had Mirena inserted on 7th July 2008 after having a copper IUD removed. I chose the Mirena because I had heavy periods and understood that the hormone would be localized to my uterus and only a very small amount would enter my bloodstream.

After a very short time (probably a day or so), I started getting symptoms of nausea, headaches, dizziness, forgetfulness, depression, bloating, cramping and just a general feeling of something wrong with my body. One day I was just sitting at my desk at work and my heart starting racing! I also felt very anxious and panicky a lot of the time.

The nausea and headaches just got worse every day until I couldn't stand it any longer - I was completely miserable - and called my doctor's office to make an appointment to have the Mirena removed. When I went to the appointment, my blood pressure was sky high and I had a severe headache. Although my doctor said she believed I was having these symptoms, she didn't think the Mirena could be the cause.

Anyway, I had the Mirena removed on July 25th and a few hours later, my headache had completely gone. I slept great that night and woke up for the first time in 2 weeks not feeling nauseous. I had my blood pressure checked today (2 days later) and it was back to normal.

I'm pretty sure that the Mirena made me sick and I wish I'd done some research before I had it inserted. It's been interesting to learn that so many people are experiencing similar problems.

I have been on Yasmin now for 2 months and have had no problems with it. i have not gained any weight or felt moody. i actually feel that my face has definitely cleared up and on my last periods they have been shorter. the reason i asked my doctor for this specific pill was because i had HORRIBLE cramps that i couldn't move. my whole entire body would ache and my appetite was sky high. since being on it i think that it has helped me out. i think if your questioning taking this pill just give it a try for at least three months or so. every woman is different just remember that!!!

My granddaughter has been on this for 2 years and we are devastated. We took her to a counselor 2 months after she was put on this drug for for allergies. Her behavior was bizarre. The counselor attributed her mood swings and behavior to moving to the country and attending a new school but never to Singulair. After we just saw this news story it was like the sky opened up. My beautiful 11-year old granddaughter has been affected by this chemical and we did not know it. I am currently getting all of her medical and psychological records together and taking her off this medication. We will seek natural, organic solutions and never again accept what these pharmaceutical companies routinely tell the doctors. We did not know that Singulair even had these side effects, the doctor never told us. She has exhibited anxiety, mood swings, depression and abnormal behavior. She NEVER had had problems like this before this chemical. It took us 2 years to find this our? Our whole family is so angry about this and of course feel terribly guilty that we didn't see the connection. However, the pharmaceutical companies bear a great deal of responsibility, they market this to doctors and the public as harmless wonder drugs. I can only pray that getting her off this will restore her to a normal childhood. Can they ever give back the 2 years she lost?

My fifteen year old son—all star athlete, good student, always following the rules has been through hell and back with this too, and is still feeling the stigma. After being on Singulair about 6 months, he started hearing and seeing things. He woke the whole house up one night with a blood-curdling scream. We immediately sought help and i started investigating the side-effects of Singulair. Every doctor we spoke too, Primary care, Allergy specialist, and 2 psychiatrists, discounted my theory that the Singulair might be causing all this. He did express having depressed emotions and thoughts of suicide. This kid had no previous pre-existing conditions that would account for these symptoms. Thank god the Psychs ruled out schizophrenia, which was what we were all afraid of, including my very intuitive son. I NOW FEEL LIKE I HAVE TO DO SOMETHING. This is so wrong. I tried to speak up about it and was swept under the rug many times. Please tell me if there are lucrative organizations i can report this too. My kids has been emotionally injured from this drug and it seems there are many more that have actually years from their childhood.

I have been on synthroid for about 6 months now. Some of the side effects I have been experiencing are numerous.I have hair loss, sometimes I get so ill that no one can stand to be around me, my weight has gone up about 30 pounds, my cholesterol levels went sky high so now I'm taking Crestor, I'm bloated most times, I have episodes where my face flushes and gets so red that it feels like its on fire, and now I've just started experiencing burning and aching of the legs, I'm tired a lot too! My doctor said I would lose the weight but every time I go for check ups and get on the scale it just keeps going up. I would like to know if anyone else out there is experiencing the burning and achy legs because I have been tested for everything and they can't find out what is going on. They of course say it's not the medication. It seems to never be. Does anyone feel me??

There has been at least two documented cases of women having extremely high acid levels due to taking Xeloda. These high levels ultimately caused their deaths. All drugs cause side effects but death is not one listed in any of the literature that Roche presents with this drug. If you are taking this drug please make sure that your acid levels are checked regularly and if you know of someone who had the same complications from Xeloda please contact us.

I am 60 years old female & have been taking Lipitor for about 4 years. I recently went off the drug for 3 months, & in that time much of the muscle pain I was experiencing began to lesson. I have pain in both arms from the below up to my shoulder. Hip pain & leg cramps. I have trouble sleeping & absolutely no sex drive. Of course, my Cholesterol went sky high, over 300. I have only been back on 80 mgs for a month and a half, & all of the aches and pains are back ten fold. I feel a hundred years old.I have to make a big decision...die of high Cholesterol, or live a life of constant pain and sleep deprivation. This is really bad. I f I had to run or crawl to save my life, I'd never make it.

Oh my goodness! I am so so glad I found this site!! I have been taking Yasmin for about 2 months now, and although it has helped with some acne problems a bit, I felt like I have been going crazy. I have not been using it as birth control (I am only 16 and I have been taking it for an ovarian cyst rupture I had), but I, like almost everyone else that has commented, thought I was going crazy!!! After 2 weeks of taking it, I started getting even more severely depressed than I usually get. My anxiety sky-rocketed! Boys that I used to flirt with and crush on were/are no longer that interesting to me. Even romantic novels didn't give me a tingly feeling I normally get. Nothing has been interesting to me lately!! I also have been a lot more vicious with my parents than I usually am. I have just been a ball of anxiety and depression! I seriously thought I was going crazy and going to commit suicide before I came to this website! I sure am hoping it is the pill that is doing this, because then I will just stop taking it right away, starting tonight. I definitely do not recommend this!!!

I started taking Toprol XL on Wednesday 11-14. I had been admitted to the cardiac unit after having to be given 2 nitro pills and also a nitro patch to get my chest pain to go away and my blood pressure to come down.

That evening my cardiologist put me on 50mg of Toporol XL. I have had a headache pretty much since that night, that just won't go away. I had an anxiety attack last night that left he crying for no reason pretty much all night long, I have not slept well since the night they put me on it, I have been sick at my stomach since that night, I have been dizzy and not feeling like myself since that night, and I also continue to have a feeling of something being wrong, even though all the bllod work and the stress test came back good.

They told me that my problem was stress related and for the next 2 weeks am to try and remain stress free. But everytime I take the medicine I continue to feel worse with these same symptoms.

I would like to stop taking paxil, I have been on it for 3 yrs. When I skip my medicine I get what feels like electrical shocks in my neck & head. I wasnt sure if I had a pinched nerve at 1st but began to associate this with the event that I had not taken my meds. I also have onset of panic attacks & rapid heart, & terrible terrible forgetfulness, as to even what cabinet I would like to open, I open the wrong one, go into the wrong doorway, wrong driveway. I am very concerned. I have told my Dr. that I would like to get off this Paxil but Ive been told that it would be best since I was suffering from anxiety attacks in past. I would like to be committed to be able to handle the withdrawls. If anyone has been successful in stopping Paxil and now feels pretty back to normal, please let me know. Thanks
