PLEASE READ BEFORE TAKING LUPRON DEPOT:
Hey there, I just thought I would add my experiences with the drug for everyone. I am a 25 year old with stage IV endo. I have already done a Laparoscopy and removed some of my endo. Started the Lupron on a six month treatment. My doctor said I would probably lose my period in a couple of months... well, I was due for my period two weeks after first shot and I didn't get it. I didn't have a period from then on.

This drug is great for only one thing: pain removal. It's been great for this aspect. I was in SO much pain that it was unbearable, but the Lupron Depot shots REALLY helped with this. No pain whatsoever.

HOWEVER:
Side effects: Wow...these are extreme!

WEIGHT GAIN:
Now, I am a very healthy person. I was a college cheerleader and in shape. I eat well and exercise very regularly. This did not help one bit after taking the shots! Within six months I have put on 30 pounds!!! And this is even though I am still exercising more than ever and eating amazingly! It just doesn't seem to matter.

HOT FLASHES:
My hot flashes are severe. I carry a fan with me everywhere I go--and use it all the time. They can come on me so sudden. Sometimes they are based on emotions (e.g. if I get nervous or excited or sad...they come on really strong).

NIGHT SWEATS:
Um, yeah...it's gross. I keep a fan on my face, the window open, barely any clothes on, no covers...and I still sweat!!!!!

INSOMNIA:
I have not had too many good night sleeps since I started the shots. I will say though that as long as I am kept cool through the night then I have a better chance of sleeping well

NAUSEA:
It's strange, but I never get nauseous...not even from motion sickness, but I have been starting on the last shot of the treatment. It was so bad that I would throw up!

One last thing, I tend to have a messed up equilibrium a bit. Seriously, I find myself walking crooked all the time!

On a whole the best I can say is that this drug makes you feel like it's not really your body. I kind of feel like my body has the flu or something.....it just feels weird and strange all the time. You can tell your body is all screwed up.

Other than that I haven't had anything else.

This drug is GREAT for pain removal and it's also nice to not deal with a period for a while, but the other side effects are so horrible that I would rather deal with the pain.

I just pray that the weight I gained will come off after the estrogen returns to my body....

Only 5 days on Lisinopril and I'm done with this one. Coughing - not sleeping well due to coughing during the night, cramping, constipation, headaches, severe fatigue. I called the doctor and requested something else.

I feel so blessed to have found this site tonight!!! I took Lisinopril for a year...June 05' to July 06'. I started experiencing allergic reactions....swollen lip, eye, hives (more like welts) all over. Did not connect to the lisinopril right away though I had just renewed my Rx and the pharmacy was using a different manufacturer for my medication. I then started experiencing indigestion and constipation (never ever had problems with)....actually had to go to the ER one night.....ended up calling 911 the following morning because I was going to pass out....woke up fine, after 10 minutes broke out in a sweat....my BP was apparently dropping....never passed out in my life, but knew it was coming so I opened the front door and called 911. The operator kept me on the phone talking while waiting for help....I started throwing up as they walked in the door, and felt immediately better. They had me sit, took my pressure....I was feeling much better.....I still didn't tie it to the Rx, but after several more allergic reactions and tired of taking Benadril, I asked to have my BP Rx changed. I continued to have allergic reaction on 4 different types of BP Rx over a 6 week period. I decided to stop taking all BP medication Sept.06'. Two weeks ago I decided to try the Lisinopril again as I have not been able to control my BP for the past year. I thought maybe I had experienced a food allergy last year....until I found your website tonight. What caused me to look for info tonight was a hot flash experience today....all day. I am 48 and Perimenopausal, but I have not experienced a hot flash as of yet....after reading all the blogs, I don't think I was experiencing a hot flash! I also have not been sleeping well the past two weeks....and I never have trouble sleeping. I also have been lacking energy and have had tingling in my hands and aching muscles....I'm not taking another pill!!! I'm going search for a natural remedy and start working out!

I originally went on 10mg of lipitor a day in January,2007, experienced leg pain, muscle ache and weakness,so after 3 weeks went off the drug on my own.In June 2007 after talking to different Dr's I went back on Lipitor,10mg, figuring that I had not really given the drug a chance as sometimes side effects do subside after a while.I saw my Dr on July 3rd & my cholesterol had gone down to 170 in about 3 weeks.I told him about my symptoms, which were the same as before & he told me to let him know if they got worse.By August 30th 2007 I just could not tolerate the pain and achiness all over my body,I was not sleeping well as every time I turned in my bed I woke up from the pain ( We even got a new mattress fguring maybe that was contributing to the joint pain) My joints became swollen & red,I could not lift up my arms, they were so sore and weak,my neck was so stiff that it was hard to drive and have to turn my head,I had a constant headache and what seemed to me like a"fuzzy brain"I am 63 years old and have never experienced anything like this,I am an active woman with a great deal of energy and people who know me could not believe what was happening, instead of scooting ahead of everyone I was barely keeping up.I found myself not wanting to eat as my stomach was constantly bloated & in pain & I was gaining weight too.
I went off Lipitor on September 1st and the withdrawal sypmtoms have been horrendous, I went to see my Dr yesterday & he put me on an anti inflamatory drug ,I have taken 2 dosages & am already feeling an improvement. This web site really helped as I felt I was not alone suffering from the side effects of Lipitor. Many people I have talked to have experienced the same symptoms but were attributing them to aging.

I am a 45 year old female who was treated with this antibiotic for a sinus infection three days ago. Within one day, I had black loose stools and cramping. I have had anxiety attacks for the past two days and am not sleeping well. I'm glad that I found this website. I won't take this medication again!

Hi

I have read Kevin Tredeaus book and was a follower of him prior to this experience. I almost or did have a nervous breakdown from taking Yaz I tried to deal with it for 5 weeks on my own taking natural things Kava and St Johns Wort valerian walking swimming, I almost killed myself by not taking anything so be careful to scare women on here against taking anti anxiety meds.

Its a case by case situation.

I never took tylenol or nothing before this

Now Iam on lexapro I was one step away from having to be admitted to a hospital Dejay was locked in the bathroom reading to hurt herself she and I both treid on our own to solve the anxiety ours was horrible. I couldnt sleep bauseated lost 15 lbs crying hysterically in and out of the ER 7 times.
The anxiety was so horrible I cant even dscribe how horrible I felt. I still dont feel good on the Lexapro yet but Dejay is back to her old self shopping going out and is sleeping well but only after 3 weeks on Lexapro it saved her life.

Just be careful telling people not to take them someone could take their life by reading this forum and being too scared to take them.

Again I would of never of in my wildest dreams thought I would take one I didnt own a pill but I was at the brink of maddness.

If I could of done it without a pill trust me I would of.

Iam still shakey as I type my stomach is so torn up I cant eat well half the time cant work cant go in stores not doing well

iam using Calmfortay with the Lexapro tried it last night it is very soothing and homeopathic.

I wonder what Kevin Tredeau would do if he took Yaz or Yasmine and felt like us???

I received 10 Kenalog injections on 9/15 in my scalp to help with hair loss. I am 34; the doctor biopsied and said I had scarring alopecia. I asked about cortisone shots and she elected to give me a series to see if it would help. The shots were painful, of course. But I'd read that steroid therapy can help regrow hair, so I remained hopeful. On my return visit a couple of months later, I pointed out the dent to her, and she said it would fill in in a few months. She gave me a 2nd shot of Kenalog in my left buttock.

I got home that night and looked up the drug and its side effects. I found this board. I cried all night.

It's 3 months later and I have one huge, tender indentation in my scalp--it is BALD; how ironic as there was hair there pre-Kenalog. I also have several less deep dents in my scalp. I've also had the yeast infection, but so far I have yet to develop an indentation or discoloration in my buttock. I am wondering if I should see a lawyer because I was not informed of the risks of this drug. And apparently rather than improving the situation it was prescribed for, it made it worse.

Sigh.

Started taking Lisinopril one week ago today. By saturday I was feeling bloated and on monday I felt like my tummy was going to explode! Hard to breath when walking, not able to work out at all, not sleeping well, tired etc. A little cough, not bad. Stopped taking it today and I already feel better, can walk and the full feeling is getting better. I am lucky my PCP is very helpful and we are already looking to other treatments.

Our doctor prescribed Singulair for our 4 year old as a preventative measure for bronchitis this past Friday (July 7th). That night, she was up every 2 to 3 hours saying that she's scared and that her legs hurt. She has slept through the night since she was 6 weeks old, so this was shocking to us. We just thought that because she was sick she wasn't sleeping well...even though other times she's sick this didn't happen.

Saturday, Sunday, Monday went by and each night she woke every few hours...crying and crying. She was dreading bedtime (this was also strange). On Tuesday, I found this site and read all the stories....and many of them were similar to our situation. My wife and I talked about it and we decided to take our daughter back to the doctor on Wednesday to let her know that we'd like her to try an alternative medication because of her reactions to her meds. She listened to her lungs and said just to stop the meds...she sounds ok now.

Wednesday night...still woke up....but fewer times. Last night...slept from 8pm to 8am!!! Was in a great mood, no talking about nightmares or achey legs!!

Beware of this medication....we will not be using it for our little girl ever again!!! Thanks to eveyone who shared their story.

I started using topamax for migraines on January 20 and have been feeling a little tired, some tingling in the fingers and a weird fluttering in the back of my head every once in a while. I am on 25 mg a day to start for the next 3 months and will work my way up from there. So far no migraines. Have been sleeping well, (I take it at night). I seem to have more muscle pains than normal. ie. Stiff shoulders and neck. Also, my appetite is not the same, don't have the same tatse for foods lately, just want to snack.

i used nasonex as needed for alergies for about six months. i was having migranes for about two weeks. i dont think i used nasonex the whole two weeks. one morning i woke up and i couldnt see out of my right eye and my head fealt terrible. i hadnt been sleeping well, so i took an ibuprophen and had a cup of coffee and 20 minutes later, my sight had come back. the next morning i had the same problem, so i took and ibuprophen and waited. i waited all day and finaly at about 8 at night i went into the emergency room. i have been tested for every disease out there and i had no answers for why i lost my vision in the right eye. about six months later (when i very rapidly lost most of my vision in the left eye) i was diagnosed with chronic steroid dependent autoimmune optic neuritis. i have wondered thinking back if the nasonex was responsible for the steroid dependancy, but i guess there is no way to be sure. if anyone has anything to tell me or a simmilar story to tell me email me at ******

I was given a kenalog shot in September 2005 Late October I noticed that my arm had become disfigured. They gave me the shot in my upper arm above my deltoid. It looks like my bone is sticking out of my arm now. My period has not stopped since September. I have a loss of apetite and I am not sleeping well. I went to a plastic surgeon and he said that he could take some fat brom my belly and inject it into my arm. This will require general surgery. He has suggested that the doctor who gave me this shot should have to pay for ALL problems that I am having. Will it ever wear off? Does anyone know?

I've been taking Lipitor for just about a month now and am not sleeping well. I take it at night and am having hot flashes followed by chills that wake me up at least 4x/night. I think it's the Lipitor because I can finally sleep undisturbed ~6:30 a.m. (when I usually have to get up)!

Grateful to find this page! I'm having the strange experience of muscle cramping after 3 months on Yasmin. The first month I spotted every day (but assured this passes and it has the past two months) and nothing else. Towards the end of the second I had finger and toe cramps (you know, where they pull together). This month I'm having leg cramps as well - especially when I stretch, the calves, feet or thighs tighten up. Painful! I'm not sure what to do. Mentally I'm feeling stable - sleeping well, no anxiety - but I'm so glad I've read this is something which might occur after I quit taking them!

Began Topamax/Relpax rx in Jan 05...had been increasing the Topamax dose to 75 mg total/day until 3/05 but felt irritable, not sleeping well; Dr. added Elavil at bedtime to help me sleep and it has really helped. I have just inc. to the next level dose of Topamax :total now at 50 mg in the am and 50 mg in the pm . Side effects are tingling /buzzing sensations in my heels- this seems to calm down after I get used to a dose level... Forgetfulness and trouble getting my words out, mixing up words and even occas. slurring. This does frustrate . BUT, my headaches are so much fewer. So , it is working well I'd say .I have lost a few pounds but I am watching my intake and exercising .I notice that exercise helps my headaches too !

My eight month old son was prescribed Omnicef for a double ear infection and possible strep throat. After one dose of the medication, he has had several bouts of rust-colored diarrhea which could be mistaken for blood. Since there is nothing in his diet that could turn his stool this color, I assumed it was the Omnicef. I called the pharmacist to see if there was a red dye in the medication, but he insisted that this was an abnormal occurrence. The pediatrician told us that it does contain a red dye. My son has been irritable, clingy, restless, and is displaying anxious behaviors. He is not sleeping well. I can only attribute it to the medication, as his ears and throat are getting much better. I still have another 6 days left of this; if it continues for another day, I will stop.

To those of you who are continuing to give/take this med, I have split the dose into two and this seems to be helping. I give it in the morning and evening after a full meal. The diarrhea is less frequent and less watery.

This website was the only thing verifying my experience. Thank you to everyone who has contributed their insights.

My 6 month old son started taking Omnicef 6 days ago for a bad ear infection. On the 5th day he started having reddish colored stool. I called the doctors office and they said if he has any more (which it sounds like he will), then they are going to test his stool for blood. He isn't sleeping well either. He becomes so tired but won't allow himself to go to sleep. He just lays there sobbing. He also started having a fever last night and this morning. He only has a few more days on this medicine. I just hope it helped the ear infection. I would hate to think he was on this medicine with all these awful side effects, and still has an ear infection on top of it all. I do agree, the reddish colored stool should defiantely be listed as a possibel side effect.

I am 26, and I had my thyroid removed in November 2003 as a result of having thyroid cancer. I have been on Levoxyl ever since. The first few months, I had trouble sleeping and even taking a 5 minute nap during the day would cause me to be unable to sleep at night. In November 2004 (after a year of adjusting my dosage), they said my thyroid levels were at goal. At the time, I was feeling pretty good (sleeping well, feeling healthy and energetic). But the past month or so, I have been extremely tired and quite moody/depressed. I cry a lot - many times for no reason at all. I had my thyroid levels checked a couple weeks ago, and they said htey at at the goal level. I was talking with a family friend today who is a nurse and told her that I have been extremely tired and fatigue easily. She said that she thinks that the thyroid medications do have side effects that we are not always aware are really from that. Let me know if you have found any solutions to the moody/depressed feelings and emotions and the extreme tiredness. Please email me at ****** if you have any solutions! Thanks!

I feel I need to add my story for some balance on Lupron. I'm 53 and am finishing my fifth month on Lupron. I began taking it because I'd been anemic and bleeding very heavily (because of a fibroid) for quite a while, and I wanted to avoid a hysterectomy.

Mine is almost all good news. My hematocrit (I think that's the word, it measures iron) went from 30 to 40 after a couple of months, most bleeding gone although the verdict is still out on whether I've hit menopause and can expect to not resume bleeding when I go off Lupron (this month or next). My side effects have been almost non-existent. Occasional headaches, some fogginess, absolutely no weight gain (and I'm the type that gains weight easily), sleeping well, and normal moodiness. I fully expected hot flashes especially since I'm almost at menopause anyway, but haven't had any. I do get warm sometimes, but no intense heats or sweats. I exercise (walk or lift weights) almost every day so maybe that had something to do with it.

I think it's important that a woman considering Lupron know that it's not always grim news when you receive the shots, and that even if you do experience some of the side effects, it is better than the effects we are currently suffering (i.e. pain from endometriosis, excessive bleeding). I don't think women should reach for Lupron readily, but in some cases it is the best option.

I stopped taking Zocor 6 weeks ago on advice of a metabolic specialist. I started to feel the best I have for four and a half years. I was going about my daily routine last week when it dawned on me I had no muscle aches or pains at all. I was feeling so well, not depressed or tired. I have been sleeping well at night time and now I only have pleasant dreams. I wake up refreshed and full of hope and the stiffness in my body had gone completely. I take the dog for a walk daily and the other night I found I went for a short jog with him, I couldn't believe I could actually jog. I had been finding it impossible over the past four years to gain any level of fitness, although I exercise daily, and have always eaten only the healthiest food. I never lost weight during the last four and a half years, and gained a lot of flab on my stomach. The metabolic specialist stated that the Zocor had destroyed muscle and replaced it with fat. Now that I am not taking Zocor I have started some light weight training, and I have found this to be beneficial. I will see my GP in 2 days time to report my good health. I will never take Zocor or anything like it eg.Lipitor or any statin drug. I believe these drugs are not beneficial to a person's health. I feel sure I will lead a normal healthy life from now on with sensible exercise, continue with good common sense cholesterol lowering foods to compliment my optimistic outlook. Even although I have a family history of heart disease, I believe I will have a better lifestyle looking after myself the natural way. I prefer to believe what I have read on this website from the people who really know what it feels like to be suffering continually from aches and pains, and feeling as though I was a constant pain in the neck for my family. I have had so many of the side effects described I felt like I was a hypochondriac and so I gave up complaining about all of my symptoms to my doctor; exteme fatigue, feeling unwell and depressed, swelling in my legs, trouble walking up 2 flights of stairs, stiffness, particularly in my legs, feet, more so on the right side, sometimes stiff neck(which the Dr said was a wry neck), burning sore feet continual, waking at night with my lower body just aching like a toothache, feeling freezing cold; sometimes I would wake and the joints on my lower trunk where my legs start felt like they had ridges of built up swelling or calcium. I have had bleeding gums at times, and sometimes mouth ulcers. 2 years ago I had unexplained vaginal bleeding, my stomach had blown up and I looked like I was 6 months pregnant although I was post menopausal (early menopause). I had to have a curette because they thought I must have cancer, but there was no explanation for the bleeding. 2 months ago I had tests for diabetes, my blood glucose tolerance test came back with a concave reading, which the GP could not make sense of, so this is why I was referred to a metabolic specialist. The specialist could not fault my dietary intake. It was found that I also had a severe depletion of iodine, although I had been tested for hyposthyroidism 2 years earlier and nothing showed up. From time to time I have had abnormal liver function tests, put down to overuse of paracetemol or anti inflammatory drugs.....so I stopped taking these completely and managed the pain with some help from a psychologist friend with self hypnosis. I believe that all of my symptoms were due to taking drugs, and prior to taking Zocor I had no need to ever take anything. It was only because the GP recommended Zocor after a High Cholesterol reading and I was considered to be in a High Risk Category because my Mum died of a sudden heart attack and my dad had Angina. Mum died at 61 y.o. and dad at 78 y.o. I am 54 y.o. and started taking Zocor at 49 y.o. I stopped taking Zocor 6 weeks ago, now feel great and would not recommend it to anyone.

I have been on Advair 500/50 for about 4 to 5 years. I cannot keep the weight off. I eat hardly anything at meals. I eat no sweets or bread. About 2 years ago I starting experiencing severe drowsiness even after sleeping well the night before. I was so tired. I had every test done at the dr. possible. I am on a C-pap machine and I kept bugging the sleep dr. about the pressure not being right on the machine. I had a hormone saliva test done and got my hormones on the right track. I kept waiting to feel better.I have had what I thought was irritable bowel syndrome for over a year now and been on medicine for that. It hasn`t really helped. Anyway, I read on the internet about candida and did the spit test. I had lots of yeast. I have been on a large bottle of Nystatin for the yeast now. The allergist said the Advair can cause a yeast problem in the throat and stomach. I feel much better after finishing the Nystatin, but I am sure the yeast will come back. I have to be on something as good as Advair since my asthma is so bad. I am also on Singulair and allergy shots. (For 3 years now) I still can`t handle being in the cold air. My lower calves swell up at my sock line when I am on my feet a lot. It is never ending! What do we do? Can`t live with Advair and can`t live with it!

My friend has been on Seroquel for about 1 week and have experienced dumbness in the upper and (lower lips), nervousness and not sleeping well at all. She has stop taken Seroquel. She was also taken another medication, can't recall the name and it did not help either. Seroquel is the second medication given to her by her physician. She was not given any information about the medication, such as the side effects or what the medication is used for. HELP!

I've taken guaifen for almost a week now for fluid in the middle ear. I'm not not sleeping well at all. By the way, my doctor did advise me of this side effect. However, in that I'm a busy lady, it's not all that bad. I'm getting a lot done!
