I've been on Topamax for over a year for hormonal migraines, and it's working great for the headaches. I started out at 25mg twice a day and now I'm up to 100mg twice a day. I've lost 40lb (mostly due to the drug -- but my appetite is starting to come back) and have just recently started experiencing the anxiety and tingling in the extremities. I've always felt I've had trouble concentrating and "finding the word", but I attributed it to lack of sleep because I have two small children. My most recent side effect, however, is most worrisome, which is the reason for my visit to this website. I am experiencing severe abdominal pain, almost constant, and it seems to be increasing. I had abdominal pain and diarrhea when I first started Topamax last year, but it stopped after the first month or so. I'm just wondering if maybe long term use can cause ulcers or other stomach problems. Anyone have any experience with this? I know from experience that Topamax dosages have to gradually weaned up and down, so I'm considering decreasing my dosage to see if my stomach problems will stop. I'm just in so much pain, yet my migraines have almost stopped now with 200mg a day, that I'm reluctant to change my dose.

I'm glad I found this site .. I too have been on Advair for many, many years due to chronic asthma. While the drug has helped me control my asthma, for the past two years every time I get a cold, I get pneumonia. I also have chronic thrush I cannot get rid of and one poster had mentioned her feet cramping and I've had some of that too. My doctor doesn't really listen to my complaints, but getting pneumonia really scares me - I have two small children to take care of. Hope all the posters are doing better now.

The instructions that come with this medication clearly indicate that this medication , and is typed in caps USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED IN CHILDREN under the age of 15. Please talk to the doctor about the risks and benefits before giving this to your child.
Now that is with the print out you get when you pick up this medicine from Kaiser, and other drug stores, so I am really shocked to read all these stories of people giving this drug to so many small children. Always research your medication BEFORE you give it to yourself or your child.
I have had many bad reactions, and had to learn the hard way for myself and mor my aging mom, she almost was rendered brain dead from a drug I did not research. Do your homework FIRST! I will never make this mistake again. Hope this helps someone.

I have been on Nuva Ring for about 7 months now and at first I loved it. It was great not having to worry about taking the pill everyday and with 2 small children who has time to think much less take pills. I started having problems about 3 months after taking it...bloating so bad I looked 4/5 months pregnant, gas pains that would wake me up at night, heartburn/acid reflux. I have been through numerous tests to try and find out what is causing my stomach pains (ct scans, ultra sounds, blood work) now the Dr. wants to put me on Paxil after putting me on Prilosec and Gas Relief Chewables. Nothing is working, I can't stop the bloating for nothing...its interfering with my everyday activities. Not only is my stomach an issue but my moodiness is TERRIBLE. I hate EVERYTHING, I dont want to be bothered...leave me alone is my new attitude. I have always been a moody person but this is severe. Everyone around me says I need to be on "be nice pills" and that makes me even angrier when I hear that. I cry/laugh/get mad feel like Im screaming inside...I am still taking this stupid thing listening to the Dr. saying the Nuva Ring doesn't cause these side effects, but after reading all this I think I'm going to take it out for a couple of months to see if anything changes.

Hello, i just googled 'migraine with yasmin' and found this site, I have read through many of the posts, and feel that a lot of it is exaggerated scare mongering, however i have just started yasmin, i am on my 5th day and i am coming right off it. I have experienced, bad vision, extreme tiredness and migrain in the last 3 - 4 days.
Is yasmin really renound for having bad side affects? I am quite worried.

Took Avelox - one dose - two years ago for a chest infection. Within two hours, experienced acute weakness, dizziness and bizarre (and frightening) sensations of falling/collapsing/sinking. Changes of vision and loss of acuity of hearing followed. In the ensuing days, severe neck pain, inability to regulate body temperature (feeling constantly cold), involuntary muscle movement, acute diarrhoea, confusion, low blood pressure, low oxygen levels in the blood, crushing chest pain, slow heart rate required hospitalisation. In retrospect, I would have to say that those first few weeks were terrifying not just for me but for my husband and small children. It took several months for these symptoms to resolve completely. The peculiar sensations in the neck persist intermittently. In my opinion and experience, Avelox is a dangerous drug, which should be withdrawn from use immediately. Notably in this episode, the specialist/consultant who prescribed the drug refused to accept that Avelox caused any of these problems. The GP was far more aware of this drug's potential to do damage. I would strongly advise that anyone visiting this site never, EVER, give fluoroquinolones to anyone in their family. Wishing good health to all who have been damaged by this drug. MM

First, I am a little leary of all the "guest" posts...why not use some kind of name? Am I missing something? I basically have to ingore those posts. Anyway, like the 4/18/07 "guest" post below, my 4 yr old son started Singular on Monday along with Albuertol. Man, we've had that same bizarre behavior. We took him off the Albuertol and switched to the Xoapanol(sp) version with much better success today even though he is still on the Singular. We've talked to several parents and they all said the Albuertol was evil for their kids. My son just did his afternoon breathing treatement and my wife said he is fine...the Albueterol is going in the trash. 2 parents have been on the Singular for 1 yr and another for 3 (small children) with no noted side effects. I dunno, the posts scare me in general so we will monitor very closely.

Our 8 month old daughter had a serious (chronic) case of
bronchitis. .083% dosage 4 times a day of Albuterol. Her
eyes rolled back into her head. We broke up the dosage with
same effect. I tried it and found that dizzyness and tingling in
toes lasted a half hour with no reduction in mucus in my lungs. We would not recommend this drug for "any" small
children. Dangerous.

hi kim123.
i did not take lexapro, i tried diazepam for a very short while but it did not help me long term,it just took the edge off.i stopped it because it is very addictive. i did use the linden method,it is very good but i just did not have the time to do all the realxation cd's as i have 2 small children and getting 20 mins silence in my house would be almost as much of a miracle as me waking up cured! i imagine any kind of relaxation tape would be good.you need to relax your body and relax your mind, the linden method tapes basically tell you that your anxiety cannot hurt you and you do visualisations that include filling up imaginary clouds with your fears etc. if you have the time to do it then i recommend it. i also read loads of books on positive thinking and changing your life by changing your thought patterns. i know how you feel right now. i used to wake up and feel ok then within litterally seconds of getting up i would be full of fear and anxiety.i no longer feel that way.so it will get better for you to. if you do not want to increase your dose of lexapro then try the relaxation techniques.you can do it yourself by finding a comfy spot and thinking of a lovely peacefull scene, relax all your muscles and fill your mind with positive thoughts like how strong you are and how wonderfull your life, tell yourself you have no room for fear and negative thoughts, imagine a cloud and send all your negative thoughts into the cloud and just let them float away. it will take a while but you will feel more relaxed day by day.

My 4 month old son was given the usual dosage for wheezing, the smallest dosage they had. Obviously it was way too much because after about the 3rd dose throughout the day he was so hyper and moving sporadically, his heart was racing then his eyes started rolling to the back of his head. It was very scary. The doctors decreased the dosage to only a quarter of the vial. Then we decided to just switch to Xopenex. NO side effects/ PARENTS with BABIES and SMALL CHILDREN I highly reccomend using Xopenex instead of Albuterol.!!!!

I was prescribed Avelox on December 21, 2005 for an ear/sinus infection that would not go away despite taking other antibiotics. I took the Avelox about 9:30pm that night and 20 minutes after taking the first pill the stomach cramps started and I rushed to the bathroom, while on the toilet I started vomiting in the waste basket, then I felt (the only way to describe it is a burning) in the middle of me body and it seemed to start to spread outward. In a few minutes I was drenched in sweat (my hair was dripping wet) and I started to tremble. I made it out of the bathroom and yelled to my husband that we needed to go to the ER. By this time I was starting to have trouble breathing - my throat didn't close or anything - the feeling was in my chest, felt like my lungs wouldn't expand and I was gasping for breath. Instead of calling the Ambulance my husband drove me to the ER which is less than 10 minutes from the house. When I got to the ER all I was able to say was Antibiotic Allergy and they started giving me shots. I lost consciousness (sp?) and when I woke up some 30 minutes later I was having convulsions. The ER Doctor said I was going to be all right but I was a very lucky girl - couple more minutes and I would have died. The gave me massive doses of epinephrene and steriods to conteract the Avelox. They wanted to hospitalize me but it was 4 days before Xmas so I pleaded with them to let me go home so that Christmas wouldn't be ruined for my 3 small children. Almost was a disasterous Xmas, thanks to Avelox. Later learned that Avelox has a high incidence rate of allergic reactions --- Anaphylatic Shock -- So people beware READ the information carefully before taking any medication.

I was just given 750 mg 5 day pack of Levaquin over a week ago for acute bacterial sinusitis. I have have never taken this antibiotic before and since I am allergic to penicillin, the Dr. (who I have never met before) felt that it was a good option. Let me say that I am a physically fit woman with 3 small children and exercise everyday. I fortunately enjoy good health and rarely complain about anything.
Once I began taking this medication, I could barely function. The fatigue was incredible and I suffered from dizziness. The Dr. failed to tell me to stay out of the sun, and as a result I have blisters all over my legs due to the photosensitivity from the drug. I also had neck and jaw pain and still have knee pain. I do feel much better know, but still suffer from slight dizziness and fatigue. I would never take this medication again, and I hope that there will be no long term effects from such a short period of time. By the way, my Primary care physician who was not available the day I needed the antibiotics saw me for a follow up last week and told me that I am entirely too tiny for this drug, and it is generally prescribed to grown men. She also felt that all of my aches and pains were from a direct result of the Levaquin.

I've been taking topral for about 4 or 5 months.
It was prescribed to me in order to slow down my heartbeat.
SInce I've been taking Topral, I seem to itch a lot.
A couple of times, I purposely skipped taking it and seemed the itching stopped.
I called my doctor and they said the itching is not from the drug.
I check my blood pressure everyday and sometimes it drops to 100/55 and 115/60 and the dr. office told me not to be alarmed.

I just read through all the pages of side effects associated with Singulair. I have noticed sore muscles also. I have also itched for no apparent reason. I am going to stop taking it for a while and see what happens. This is important: I am a healthy 25 year old man. I suffer from asthma and have all my life. As I read through the side effects of people who have small children and are noticing a change in behavior;
I myself recognized that as being one of my side-effects. I have had anxiety fits lately, trouble sleeping due to stress, and find myself becomming angry at people for really no good reason.

TOPROL XL 25mg (43yr old white male)
I went to the dentist where they took my blood pressure (180/95). they suggested seeing my medical doctor. my doctor started me on 50mg to get the pressure down. the first three or four days I felt like I had run 1000 miles everyday, I was so fatigued. I called the doctor and told him and asked if I could cut them in half (they have a cut line on them). I have now been taking 25mg for about year maybe a year and half (time flys). I am still fatigued but not as badly, I am over-weight by 30-40lbs and I also smoke. additonally, my knees "ACHE", my calves ache and most recently my right hip and my wrists and forearms are aching (like carple tunnel of something). Finally, my indigestion is back (after starting toprol that kind of subsided for several months). I have just been passing it off as getting older and having to chase two small children around.
after reading some of your posts, I wonder if it's not the toprol causing the fatigue, joint pain and the return of my acid-reflux.
I am sitting here typing and my knees are screaming, right now!
has anyone else experienced all these symptoms?

My 5 year old was on Singulair for 30 days for coughing asthma. Our normally happy-go-lucky daughter suddenly changed into a crying, clingy child who was tired all the time. Her mood swings were severe and she was complaining of nightmares. She is normally very easy-going and loves kindergarten. Now she was crying at the bus stop. She was not eating and even fell asleep at the breakfast table. We, along with her teacher, were so shocked and confused!!! I only thought to look at the side effects of Singulair because I was calling for a refill and it got me thinking. The information on the prescription form did not mention tiredness, mood swings or nightmares as possible side effects. Only on-line did I find all this information....and I was SHOCKED. It sounds like 90% of the posts include nightmares.......I don't understand why the drug company would not warn parents of this. How are small children supposed to realize what is happening to them.....I think parents need to be told to WATCH for symptoms. We stopped using the Singulair immediately, and I discussed the information I found on-line with our pediatrician. She was anxious to read it, and says she has NEVER heard of any side effects from any of her patients. I also let the pharmacy know of my findings. How is it possible that there are such severe side effects out there, and no one knows? I have been telling EVERYONE I know.....just so people are aware. The pediatrician would like us to try Advair next......but I am extremely weary now.

I have had 4 shots of Lupron, after having surgery for endometriosis. I am 39 years old and had the surgery for a suspicious ovarion cyst found on ultrasound. Turns out I had significant endometriosis, but have had 3 children despite this. My side effects have been hot flashes, insomnia, back, spine and hip pain and most distressing, an increase in migraines. I tried taking the add back therapy but that just increased my headaches. After recently vomiting during a migraine, my heart started racing and beating irregularily. My husband brought me to the ER and I was given IV's to get my heart back in rhythm and was also given numerous tests to see what was wrong. They were all normal. The atrial fibrillation may have been caused from vomiting, from the Lupron, who knows. When I went to my OB after all of this, she took me off of the Lupron. My advice is to think hard before taking this drug. It definately helped my pelvic pain, but as a mother with 3 small children, I felt the side effects were too difficult for me.

I was recently diagnosed with a UTI and was prescribed Doxycycline for it. I had taken 5 of the 7 days of the script, with no relief. I went back to the Dr. and was given a 7 day sample of Levaquin. I took one last evening around 8pm, and needless to say...I got about 4 hours of sleep. Not continuous sleep either, that was in about 30 minute intervals. The nausea set in, my head started pounding, I was freezing and hot all at the same time. When I finally did get to sleep, I had horrible vivid dreams, woke up completely drenched, my heart racing, out of breath, and my head still throbs. I am also having trouble swallowing. I am so wiped out I can barely type this message. I can barely climb the stairs without having to sit down and rest afterwards. I did not get any kind of side effect leaflet due to this being a sample, and thought I would look it up on the Internet. Well...I am glad that I read this before looking up the general side effects, as I will not be taking the remaining 6 pills. I am a single mother with 3 small children, work full time, and definitley do not have time in my schedule to feel like this!

I'm thoroughly AMAZED that this drug is still in the marketplace. It is HORRIBLE, especially for small children whose symptoms can be overlooked as developmental issues.
