Wow - I can't believe I didn't stumble across this website when I was researching Mirena. I got mine in April 09 and have had a lot of random things going on that I never put it all together that it could be the Mirena. Today, I took TWO pregnancy tests - tender breasts, swollen vag, face breaking out, achy stomach and back, specific stomach weight gain - it HAD to be pregnancy!

My girlfriend told me she was going insane w/ the same thoughts until she started reading stories of other peoples issues. Now, I'm reading all of your stories and just shaking in disbelief...

Weight gain - check.
Sore back/lower abs - check.
Slight odor - check
Terrible PMS symptoms but NO period - check
Zero sex drive - check.
Hair loss - check.
Wild mood swings - check.

The list goes on and on, it's madness! Since day one it has felt "weird" when I go to the bathroom, I just chalked it up to me thinking too much about it being in there.

I'm 32 with one young child and would prefer not to have another. I'm calling my Dr. tomorrow to discuss my options. Thank you ladies for sharing your experiences.

Well here is an update from my last post of April 23, 2009.

I am now free from all the headaches, chest pain vertigo almost gone, legs are great, breathing is 100%. So I am still off of Lipitor, and I will stay off.
I have done a tremendous amount of looking online about these satin drugs, and as far as I am concern they are poison for me. Maybe they are good for some I don't know, but not me.
Thank you God for listing to my friends in New York about this stuff, I will not be a guinia pig for any drug company anymore.
God Bless,
L. B., Maine

I have to say, I am not experiencing any horrific side effects like some of you. When I first started taking the pill about a month ago I did for a week or so wake up with nausea but only once did I actually vomit. As many people have mentioned, different bodies react differently, and I went on the pill not to avoid pregnancy but to decrease pain associated with my periods. The women in my family have terrible episodes at the onset of the periods, PARALYZING cramps, headaches, vomiting, weakness, even fainting. My last period was hardly a period, I had minimal cramps and only spotted a couple days... no bleeding at all. So for me this pill has done more good that bad. But again, it is a smart move to talk to your doctor if you are experiencing such awful side effects. One pill is not always right for every person. And hey, if many are really worried about getting pregnant but are going through this HELL experience due to birth control, explore other options; getting tubes tied or men 'snipped' might be in fact a better alternative. I wish you all well and better health!

Hi all, I'm hoping someone here with Seroquel-experience can help us with some information. My wife has been on Seroquel for approximately 5 weeks (ramping up to 200mg per day during the first 10 days, approximately). After 4 weeks, the severe breathing problems started. Physicians have verified the oxygen level in her blood to be excellent, her lungs and heart are in perfect shape, she has no fever and no indication of bacteria-infections. All indications are that this is caused by the Seroquel. She explains the intense sensation as drowning, almost passing out while gasping for air. She's feeling very dizzy, probably due to breathing too much as a result. Occasionally her breathing is not so deep, but more like hyper-ventilation. The problem became unbearable (and my wife endures a lot) after approximately 1 week, so 5 weeks into the Seroquel scheme she quit cold-turkey two days ago. The breathing problems are still the same. We are hoping someone could tell us how much time these breathing problems can be expected to remain, as I've googled my eyes out without finding any information on this. A week? - Two weeks? -Even more? - please respond, and in advance, thank you for your help!
