Well, I had foot surgery. Several days later when I returned to doc my foot was obviously infected. He gave me Cipro AND Levaquin at the same time even though they are in the same family of drug. I went home and ate supper then took my first dose. I had a weird feeling like I was about to pass out and was home alone. I unlocked the front door and waited for EMS to arrive.

They checked me out and I was going to go to ER by car. When I stood up, I turned white and fell back on the sofa. I had a rash on neck/chest and felt like someone was squeezing my chest all the way around my body. They said my blood pressure dropped. They gave me epinephrine in ER. I looked at my daughter and said it is happening again. I thought the top of my head would blow off. I turned white and started vomiting everywhere. Turns out the nurse should have given it in the muscle not by IV.

A few months later, I took my first dose of Avelox (also in same family as Levaquin and Cipro) for a sinus infection. (I think it caused palpitations the one other time I took, but I do that occasionally anyway so I didn't connect it to the antibiotic.) Second time I was out at a restaurant with my sons. I felt like I was about to pass out again. I called an ambulance because they aren't old enough to drive. I told them about my reaction to Levaquin, but to my surprise my blood pressure was sky high. Again it felt like pressure in my chest but no difficulty really breathing. Since I had an "atypical" reaction, I had to stay overnight in the ER and be evaluated for a heart attack! I had an EKG, stress test, and cardiac enzymes drawn all night. What a pain! Then the dufus ER doc told me to continue the antibiotic. My daughter, who is a paramedic, said just nod and smile. Then go home and throw it away. Call your regular doc and ask him to change it. That is exactly what I did.

Now I am petrified every time I have to take antibiotics! I have to talk myself through it.

Second time I took it, I felt weird again.

I am a 56 yr old female, placed on Lisinopril in lieu of Atelenol, which I have been taking along with HCTZ for a least 5 years. BP was 148/83, Dr. thinks still too high so Lisinopril it is. I was on it for a week and I, too, developed some really annoying side effects. Dry, almost spastic cough, especially at night when I attempt to sleep. Have been on the sofa for over two weeks to avoid disturbing my other half's sleep with my constant coughing. The Lisinopril makes me tired anyway but with the lack of sleep, I am exhausted. I am also an Multiple Sclerosis patient and fatigue is a big factor of the disease so lack of sleep is not good. I had the perpetual headache everyday, not debilitating but enough to ruin your day. Also felt extremely dizzy, to the point of feeling like I could pass out when I raised my head. The newest symptom, is a sore tongue. Feels like I have many cuts on the front of my tongue which foods and drink irritate but there is nothing there. Dr. has taken me off saying that I am experiencing an allergy to Ace Inhibitors and switched me over to another med called Benecare. Have not taken one yet and will do so along with the Atelenol so don't know how it will be but just wanted to share the allergy concept about Ace Inhibitors.

okay ladies, I'm not sure what you all are experiencing since I'm not a doctor. But I will tell you that a huge amount of your symptoms can either be age related or post baby related. I have four children ages 15, 6, 5, 3.
The beginning stages of the Mirena granted are not pretty and can last for months. I was having a terrible time with my periods and was out of commission for the first three days of every cycle each month. I have had my Mirena for almost 2 years now and am going on 41. I had to wait it out for about 6 months before seeing any huge improvements. I will tell you this, over eating and NOT eating a healthy diet of fruits and veggies will aggravate bloating and mood swings. You could have these with or without the IUD. I never lost my hair unless I was 3-6 months post partum.
A diet rich in potato chips, bread, meats and cheesy pizza will show on your hair skin and nails. The typical American diet will leave even your special guy moody. As we age the expectation is that we will always feel 18 and I have had to come to grips with how my body ages and how I take care of it. A new baby whether it is your 1st or 4th will cause unwanted fatigue. I still struggle with fatigue because not everyone sleeps thru the night including my hubby so my sleep gets disrupted a lot. There are several things you can do to help your Mirena work for you and not scare you. I NEVER lose my sex drive unless I fail to exercise even a little each week and have fought back with a super charged diet. I'm not perfect at it but boy does it ever help. Sugar has a HUGE impact on your hormones and fatigue level. Limit it. Got to bed as early as you can and avoid late night TV. Don't give your precious zzz's to some silly show that won't help you be a better person any way. Get moving and add a little (or a lot) of weight training to your days- your sex drive will soar and your body will thank you. Pray for wisdom. God will help. Sometimes he uses fatigue to slow me down and focus on what is really important. Granted not everyone can handle an IUD. But if you try a little self care and be patient you might find that it works for you. I had heavy bleeding and at my age the doc said I got it just in time because from 40-50 I could expect more of the same. I am grateful for it because I felt like I was dying every time I had a period. A little fatigue is worth the benefits. Keep in mind that even your little ones get tired. They need naps and they are kids. We need rest in the afternoons too. It's okay to stay off the phone and rest a little if you can. My energy drainers are TV, negative people, talking on the phone too much, eating too much especially when I'm not really hungry, the wrong foods when I do eat, and not getting sleep or exercise. Start small and see if over time it doesn't make a big difference before you throw in the towel. Blessings to all and especially the new mommies.

I've had Mirena for nearly two and a half years now. About 6 weeks after I got it in I had to take a pregnancy test because I was dizzy, nauseous, bloated, and had sore breasts. I was not pregnant. But I've had a repeat experience every few months since then. Sometimes I feel so sick and tired that I can't do anything but lie on the sofa. After I stopped nursing I got bad pregnancy symptoms and cramps so horrible I thought my IUD had punctured something. Currently I feel sick to my stomach, and I've been getting headaches, and I'm tired and terribly thirsty all the time. I've read about others who had the same problem. I've also had nearly continuous yeast infections and vaginal irritation since I got it in. My libido has dropped incredibly and I'm always kind of dry during sex. I had problems with depression before getting the Mirena, but now I have anxiety on top of that. At the two-year mark I started getting nasty under-the-skin acne under my chin, and I've gained ten pounds since then. Some of that might have been my own fault, but I currently eat healthily and exercise 1 to 1 1/2 hours most days, and it's taken weeks for me to stop gaining, and I know I'm losing way slower than is natural. I put up with it this long because I haven't gained huge amounts of weight or had really bad mood swings, and I'm afraid of what might happen with other types of birth control, but I am sick of being sick all the time. I'm getting this thing out!

I have been prescribed Prednisone after I had an adverse reaction to an antibiotic which i was taking after an insect bite became infected. I am covered in a sore extremely itchy rash of weels all over my body.

I took 6x5 mg of Presnisone with breakfast and as I was feeling ill because of the rash I took it easy and lay on the sofa suddenly about 60 to 90 minutes after taking the pills I had an overwhelming feel of wanting to be sick and diarrhea, my head was spinning and I came out in a cold sweat. I become very anxious and felt like I would die, so quickly and severely did this come upon me.

All I could do was lie down and let it pass. fortunately my husband was at home and I felt reassured that if needed he would ring for emergency treatment. after a while this feeling passed but did return about an hour later. It took about six hours before I could move my head without feeling sick.

I spoke to my GP on the phone and he said I shouldn't have had a reaction like that, it was not the usually side effect! Reading the post on this forum I think it most definitely a side effect of Prednisone.

Now I have to decide whether to take it again tomorrow I am still very itchy and the rash hasn't got any better but no worse. My GP suggested taking 3x 5mg for breakfast and 3x 5mg with lunch.

I only have to hopefully take it for one more day after that. I do feel for those of you who have no choice but to take.

All this new information has me wondering. My 16 year old son has been on Singulair now fro approx. 9 years . He started having some problems in school like worrying about everything and being afraid. When he turned 12 we seen a big change he refused to go to school he would cry and hang on the sofa arm , his father would have to to remove his fingers and carry him to the school bus. No counselors could tell us what was wrong. The school provided a tutor one on one that seemed to work but he would not steo foot in a school or socialize with kids. He is now 16 and I home school him he still at times will show some signs of anxiety but he is happy at home with family. He is also tired a lot and has trouble concentrating for long periods of time . I wonder if this drug has done this to my child and taken away the education he could of had. I will be calling his Ped. on MONDAY.

I have been experiencing very brief blackouts (fainting). I don't know if the Lisinopril is the cause but that would be my first guess. In the middle of the night I wake up with bad stomach cramps and diarrhea. When I am in the bathroom on the toilet my stomach hurts really bad and the next thing I know I wake up on the bathroom floor with my face cut open. The first time I slit my eyebrow (which had to be glued) and this time it was my chin. I am 24 years old and don't know what could be causing this? I am presribed 80 mg. which I take at night along with a sleep aid called Trazadone. The first time the doctor told me I was dehydrated and this time I have no clue. Could Lisionpril be causing these episodes and if so why didn't the doctor tell me? After the episodes I am very hot and sweaty, face bleeding, dizzy, and lots of diarrhea. I have never done anything like this before and I am very worried about this. I am also very tired of cutting my face and the scars! Please help and give me some insight. Thank you, Anna

I switched to wellbutrin about 6 mo. ago and have noticed crazy hair lose... it is on my pillow in the morning, on the sofa after watching t.v., on the back of my shirt, and coming out by the handfulls when shampooing or brushing my hair. What use to be a full, thick head of hair... is now so thin I don't always brush my hair everyday (makes me sick to see all the hair). I talked to my dr. about it and she said it must be my blood sugar and that I needed to lose weight for it to go away.... um, yeah... eating low carb, walking, and still losing just as much hair... I am giving her a call today after reading that HAIR LOSS IS A SIDE EFFECT!

I was started on low dose Lisinopril 2.5 mg./day a few weeks ago. My pharmacist told me there are absolutely no side effects except for possibly an ACE inhibitor cough. That immediately made me think this drug was too good to be true. I am very sensitive to medication and have only had the need to take an occasional tylenol or motrin - ever. Usually I thrive on stress and am the type of person to go, go, go all day and once I hit the sofa after supper, I relax. Now I just feel unusually tired and wiped out during the daytime. I started with a headache yesterday that took 2 tylenol to make go away. I am able to get energy bursts, but then the tiredness! I have felt some fluttering of my heart as well. My hands feel unusually cold and achy when I type or hold the steering wheel of my car or a shopping cart. I am usually very focussed, but things are a little fuzzy in that department from time to time over the past few days. My most recent BP was 114/61 - perhaps too low? I see the MD next week for a follow up. If I tell her I'm unusually tired, she will try to put me on thyroid meds (I have been borderline for years). She also said my blood sugar and cholesterol bear watching. You know, I've been healthy for 52 years and all the doctor can say is that now my life is catching up with me. I can't help but think she has some long term pharmacological cocktail planned for me!

I've been on Toprol for about a year or so. I have had severe weight gain also while barely eating much. I had high bp to start and the cardiologist told me to lose weight and I'd be fine. But he gave me Toprol and things went from bad to worse. I too have been living in a fog, just super tired, my bp now has been around 40 and low 50s. I'm totally exhausted doing nothing more than walk thru my house. Work has been a nightmare, I do alot of walking and bending. I have been sweating terribly also. My hair will be wringing wet. My new cardiologist said that all my synptoms could be from the Toprol so he cut me to 1/2 dose for 4 days and 1/4 for the next 4 and then off of it. Within one day, I don't feel exhausted or hard to breathe either. I feel about 80% better in one day. I'm definitely not going to take it again. I wouldn't say I was really depressed but just didn't have any energy to do anything, even work. Come home and drop on the sofa and not get up. I feel like a weight has been lifted and I hope my mind clears up also. Sometimes I can't seem to remember anything from one minute to the next. Physically I feel alot better and can't wait to get off it totally. My low bp was the result of the Toprol I guess.

I'm taking toprol-XL 100 mg. 1 time a day for high bp and fast heart rate. I would wake up some nights out of the blue with my heart beating so fast it feels like it was going to jump out of my chest.I'm also taking Benicar HCT for about three and a half months now. I have been very tired all the time, I also feel like something is in my chest sometimes. When breathing out I hear a rattling sound in my chest but can't cough to clear it up and I have gotten hoarse. sometimes I can be seating or lying down on the sofa and start to feel really bad all of a sudden for no reason and my pressure goes up really high. My pressure have not been stable since, it has even been low as 95/72. When it shoots up for no reason it is 163/113.I also have jumping in my fingers and muscles, Has anyone experience that.

I had my first shot of Lupron about 1 week ago. After I had the Lupron shot I started to experience numbness in my left hand, foot and face. This only lasted about 2 to 3 minutes after I got up from laying down or just sitting on the sofa. I was worried to I saw my General Doctor. He told me it was nothing to worry about. He was wrong. Four days later I had a stroke (minor) and was in the hospital for 4 days. I believe this shot was the cause but my doctor insist it was not.

About a month ago I was put on Lisipril in place of the Verapamil I was taking. My pressure was at 148 over 93 for the longest time and my PCP didn't like it. Since I've been on the Lisinipril I've noticed a difference in my sleep habits as well and I do have a cough that wakes me up in the middle of the night and I wind up sleeping the rest of the night on the sofa so I don't wake my husband. My doc never told me of any side effects. I'm so glad I decided to check out this web site. I will be seeing my doc again soon for a BP Check and I will be telling him about these things.

I am on day number 4 now for ambien, and i feel klutzy after taking it, so I go to bed within 15 or 20 minutes. I sleep very deep and snore, according to my husband. He shakes me and cannot wake me, so he goes out and sleeps on the sofa. I am going through menopause and have terible innsomnia. I do not plan on staying on this very long, as I do not want to become addicted to this or any other sleep dependent drug.

I just started taking Topamax for migraines. I'm still in the titration phase so I'm only taking 25 mg right now, but at the end of four weeks I'll be at 100mg daily. I'm extremely disappointed because I love carbonated water and it taste absolutely awful, even after less than one week of taking the meds. I'm also finding that my hands shake a little, almost like tremors. I'm not sure if that's related to the drug or not. For the time being, I'm extremely tired. I take my dose in the evenings with dinner and usually fall asleep on the sofa. In the morning, I can barely make myself move. However, I'm already finding a decrease in migraine aura which before was a very serious problem for me.

I am a 46 old male in good health. My doctor put me on Lipitor bacause my cholesterol was 286. After taking Lipitor for approx. one year it was lowered to 219. In my opinion, the cost was to high. My short term memory is shot all to hell. I have pain in areas I never hurt at before. My vision is blurred, my sex drive went from 110% to 10%. I used to be on the go work outside all day. My wife would ask "why can't you set still for awhile?" Now I don't feel like getting off the sofa.
