I took ortho-tricycline low for 6 years with no problems whatsoever. At 18 my doctor switched me to Yasmin, by my 28th day on Yasmin I had a intense dull pain in my left hip/groin area and the of my knee and calf area. After two weeks of putting it off as a sprain, it had only gotten worse, my entire left leg was swollen to about twice the normal size and had purplish discoloration and I was could barely walk or sit. I was taken to the ER where they diagnosed me with a DVT the size of a softball in my left thigh. I spent two weeks in the hospital on narcotic painkillers and IV Coumadin before they would let me go home. I spent an additional 6 weeks at home on light duty and bed rest. I stayed on Coumadin for a year before it almost killed me as well. Today I am 23 years old and still feel the effects of the clot I had 5 years ago. My leg a calf are still swollen, though not nearly as bad and anytime I'm on my feet or have to sit in a chair all day I have to deal with moderate pain. I wasn't on Yasmin on Yasmin long enough to experience any other side effects but I would strongly advise you do your research before taking this medication.

I was 19 years old when I was put on Yaz. About 1 year after using Yaz, I had my gallbladder removed. My gallbladder was diseased and the doctor told me if I was to wait any longer it could have possibly ruptured. Then 3 months later I had a softball cyst removed from my right ovary, and use told that I now have endometriosis. Then 6 months after that i had another cyst the size of a grapefruit removed. I am going to school for nursing and while on the Yaz pill I always thought I was a failure and that I would never make it through the nursing program. I was always having mood swings, depression, bad headaches, stomach problems, bad back pains, and ovarian cyst always popping up and growing. If someone could please let me know how to contact someone about the class action lawsuit it will be very helpful. Thank you

Well I posted a couple weeks ago and thought I would update. I intially thought I had no symptoms but lately it seems that in the morning getting out of bed that my muscles are extremly tight in my legs from my calf to my ancles. They seem to stretch out ok after a few minutes but i wondered if the damage has already maybe be not reversable. I just happen to have been seeing a physical therapyst for surgery I recently went thru for another problem altogether. I mentioned this drug to him and he had not heard of it. I told him of the tendon problems people have experienced. I asked him if he knew of any drug that can cause this effect and he stated cortizone can. He says its acks in destroying tissue, cells that act in supporting the tendon and allows them to stretch. . So knowing that a drug can actually cause the same symptoms some of you have experienced I am a believer now. I can see how this drug can possible reak havoc on any part of your body. So since i seem to have been feeling possible symptoms I was wondering if any- one has felt muscle aches and leg stiffness issues and how long after stopping the levaquin were the symptoms felt and what did they progress into if anything and did they subside and or go away all together. To me it seems that if this is about damage then its possible that just simple stretching can cause the tendon to snap. I can also see why some people may have recurring injurys. This would be a sign that one does not heal or the healing process is greatly lenghtened. I do plan on eating better and using some supplements to help.

I tried it 6 weeks ago for 1 day for high BP (145/95.) I was wiped out the next day and had loint pain in my foot and felt just lousy. So I stopped. When my BP got back up to 150 or so regularly, I tried it again. I've had light headedness playing softball and two episodes of chest pain followed by weakness and anxiety. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I'll take 1/2 a tab tomorrow to wean off, then none. There have got to be better medications that don't make you sicker. What a scam, making patients.

Hi gals, I have already entered my side effect (I was the one with the endometrioma), so I'm just responding to some of you all who have had other symptoms that kinda set off alarm bells... if you are having spotting, leg cramps and abdominal pain and have not already done so, you should have a transvaginal ultrasound to see if you might have endometriosis, especially an endometrioma. They can sneak up on you for years without causing really debilitating pain, and can get to be softball-sized monsters before you start noticing symptoms. Just rule it out, can't hurt. Good luck!
