Not sure my story applies to most women, but I'm having to take a double dose every day because I haven't stopped bleeding since my son was born in April. I'm scheduled for an ablation which I am not happy about. This is a procedure which is supposed to stop the bleeding permanently. They actually burn the blood vessels inside the uterus to seal them off. I just wish the bleeding would stop on its own like it's supposed to. It finally did stop after a week of taking Femcon fe, 2 at a time and so after three weeks I cut it down to one a day - hoping nothing would happen, but I started bleeding again the second day. I guess I should count my lucky stars that I'm not having migraines. But the nausea and bloating and extreme fatigue and depression are what made me find this site. I've also gained weight - even since starting to exercise again! Seems like every couple of days I just hit a wall and can't carry on any more. Im lucky to have a supporting husband who takes over the care of the house and kids for a few hours while I have a meltdown and some rest! I have two more weeks to go and I'm really hoping to never have to look at another birth control pill again! What the heck was the point of having my tubes tied during my c-section if I have to take pills anyway AND get my uterus messed with? Right now I feel pregnant all over again -- just without the wonderful package at the end of it!

Thank you for this site! I am glad I'm not alone:)...I've been on Jasmin for over 4 years. I had mood swings, felt sad most of the time (for no reason), no sex drive, etc.. Several months ago I noticed, sorry to be so graphic, an excessive white vaginal discharge. I went to several different docs, had every possible test done. They all told me all the test were fine, so basically they did not know what was causing this and what it was! According to medicine there was no problem, although the docs could actually see it! It has no smell, doesn't itch, but drives me crazy and it's embarassing, since it increases after the intercourse. I stoped taking Jasmine about 3 weeks ago. (my husband has been using condoms ever since I noticed the discharge) I appologize if this is a bit too graphical. I just hope to find some relation here between the symptoms and Jasmin.
Did any of you experienced something similar?? Please let me know...it's really important to me, because i just don't know what else to do...any idea how long it will last? :((

Hi Bitter RN!!

I'm so sorry, I misunderstood your last post. I thought you would post again over Sarah's forum so that we don't have to post here again (someone complained about our "personal chats" here a few days ago...).

The appointment for the bloodwork (iron levels, thyroid levels, etc.) was this morning. I think I'll get the results back about thursday next week... Hmmm, again a very long time to go on with those extremely weak muscles and that horrible tiredness....

The results of my hormonal test by my gyn a few weeks ago I had already posted here, but I didn't know the normal ranges then (they could'nt even tell me in the gyn's office, how they are.... Hmmm...). My gyn told me everything was fine with them, and another doc, to whom I had posted the results over the internet (www.cyberdoc.de. or something similar) told me, they were not ok at all... Wham! I think the docs even don't know by themselves what is right or wrong...

But I think if the bloodwork, which my family doc has done today, will not show anything, I'll ask him to send me again to the endocrinologist from two years ago whom was the second doc who believed, that my symptoms could have been caused by Yasmin and suggested to stop taking it (she even attested me this in her report!!). It hink she could perhaps be the one to find out anything about my still lasting hormonal chaos...

I realized some other very unusual changes in my body over the last hmmm, I think 4 weeks, ok, since my last period. It already started about 2 days too early and only with some kind of "spotting". This lasted for about 5 days until I was hit overnight with a full bleeding... I thought I was gonna faint because of that heavy bleeding. This heavy bleeding lasted even 6 days more until it slightly stopped...

Then I usually got terrible hurting breasts around 10 days before my period and also a very heavy discharge (normal color, nothing pathologic, just the normal ovulation discharge...). All those things didn't happen this cycle besides a horrible upcoming and increasing tiredness and weakness and dizzyness (that kind of dizzyness I had the first few weeks off Yasmin because of the hormonal changes...)....
I already wondered if I could be pregnant...... ???

Well, I'm also anxious to see the results of my iron levels. If it would be just that there would at least be a way to treat my symptoms... Well, and that muscle weakness had again gotten so bad after my period started again in August 2006... So I think there might be a correlation. I'll have to wait and see...

Thank you for caring bitter RN, I'll let you know the results as soon as I have them!!

How are you doing?? Hope you're still feeling better day by day...

All the best and read you soon!!

Silke

Sorry to those who are enervated by our personal posts, but please remember ladies, these posts have already saved some lives out there........

Hello,

I am writing for my mother who has been taking prednisone for the last 2-3 months. She was prescribed prednisone for kidney failure. Well I don't think I can possibly name all the side effects she has had but I will try. She has experienced the moon face, contracted diabetes, loss of muscle coordination, vision imparment, insomnia, loss of appetite, purple rashes throughout her body, muscle pain, fainting, and the latest which was the worst of all, she is in the hospital because the doctors are saying she had a mild infarct(heart attack) my mom is no longer the person I knew, I also have a feeling that the doctor who prescribed it to her, overdosed her with 6 pills a day, I feel he should have started her with a much lower dose. My mom never had any of the above problems before. If you are going through something similar you will be in my prayers.

Hi,

This is the second time I've been on warfarin in two years (prescribed following a DVT in both cases). I've noticed that each time I've been on it, even when I'm in the zone I'm supposed to be in, I feel tired. Even when I sleep well, I feel like my eyes are dry and bloodshot and my face feels like it is sort of flushed or red all the time. I'm very fit and healthy but it doesn't seem like these side effects are really mentioned anywhere. When I tell my doc, he says those are not really common side effects. I'd love to hear from anyone else who has experienced something similar.

I was prescribed 500 mg Levaquin for a bacterial throat infection. About 4 hours after taking my first dose and going to bed, I jolted out of my sleep in a panic. My heart was racing and I was covered in sweat. I assumed I had experienced a nightmare but after several minutes my symptoms did not subside. I felt "out of my body," my head was spinning and I was experiencing what I now know was a severe anxiety/panic attack. (I almost asked my roommate to rush me to the hospital) At that point I did not connect the anitibiotic with this reaction. I took another dose the next night and again experienced the dizzy~lightheaded~sweaty~slight paranoia-type symptoms, but not to the extreme as the first dose. On the 3rd day when the joints in my right fingers felt swollen and painful I decided to cruise the internet for side effects. I was shocked to see so many others had experienced something similar. I'm discontinuing this drug (a wasted $35) and will warn others about my reaction.
*On a side note: My roommate was placed on the same drug and spent 7 days on this medicaiton. She experienced no adverse side-effects.

There are many side effects to Doxycycline. I took it for a bug bite I got (I tested negative for West Nile, Lyme, and every other blood born disease from a tick...the doctor still doesn't know what bit me...thinking it was a house centipede based on my research and seeing a couple dozen of them in my garage this summer)...200mg for 2 weeks.

For me, it was the dizziness, headaches, chest pain on and off after taking it, and the itching that would move all over in spots. Doxy is not the best antibiotic for acne though...you should take either Tetracycline or go with topical stuff (Differin or something similar)...the problem with taking Tetra or Doxy is that once you're off of it, the acne comes back even worse than it was before, then by taking it again, the stuff doesn't work. Plus, taking Doxy for several months or years will reduce it's effect and you will build up an immunity to it...any cycline has the same side effects, but I never had the nausea/diaharrea/vomiting that most people.

But please, read the leaflet and talk to the pharmacist/doctor before taking this stuff. The big side effects are the nausea, vomiting, and dizziness. If you have to take it with food, please do, but the Doxy will not work as well (absorb through the body) when taking simultaneously with food. Be careful taking this stuff...and quit taking it if the reaction is that bad because there are other medicines that won't do this stuff.

I have been on Yasmin for a few weeks now and have gotten so depressed and have also noticed weight gain and water retention. I notice these same side effects whenever I begin taking a birth control, but my doctor says I need to take them because I have something similar to endometriosis that causes uterine pain without them. I also have excruciating periods. I have taken Allese and Ortho Tri-Cycline, and another pill recently that I can't remember. Has anyone found a pill that does not make them gain weight and despair? I almost think dealing with the pain was better than this. Now every waking second is affected, not to mention broken sleep. I think I'm just going to ditch them. Any advice would be great.

hey lisa,

sorry you were asking about vitamins and stuff... you can get magnesium suppliments which help with the heart palpitations because it allows the blood to flow better through the arteries....or just eat more food that contains magnesium...

also there is this stuff you can get from like the chemist to help with anxiety... its called St John's Wort or something similar to that.... even valerian can be purchased there but that might make you a bit sleepy....

apart from that i didnt take any specific medication because i didnt want to rely or anything that i might get addicted too..

if you get your hormone levels checked you may find that your progesterone is low which is causing the palpitations...

i hope this has helped...

I am 32 years old and taking Lupron shots prescribed by my OBGYN doctor. I want everyone to know that Lupron effects everyone differently. Different doses can make the difference too. Mothers out their that are having problems having a baby don't worry about Lupron. Just ask your Doctor and Nurse every question you want and need about Lupron. So far I have had hot flashes. But heck it'll let me know what I have to look forward to as an elderly woman. If you really think about it. Every medicine in the world has some sort of side effect. A positive attitude is something I strongly recommend to you all while taking Lupron shots. I can't speak for the men, but for women going through IVF or something similar to have a baby I can. I am trying to have a baby and though sometimes the shots burn or tingle... I keep in mind the little bundle of joy I may get to bring home. So please keep in mind to follow your doctor orders closely. If you feel you need a second doctors advise please do so. Lupron if takin correctly can be helpful. Lupron stopped without a doctor knowing can be scary and painful. Your doctor should be able to help you while you are on or off Lupron. Other wise change your Doctor right away! Go to an ER! God Bless you all and best of luck with your Lupron.

Today my 5 year old son's father and I conversed about calling a child psychologist immediately for a "tic" my son has abruptly developed this weekend without warning. I spent most of today crying. He saw the Dr. today, and we are to follow up immediately with a nuerologist to rule out phsical damage. For five years there has been nothing wrong with him except seasonal asthma, and as an alternative to the nebulizer we were given singulair 2 months ago. Who knows, meds, in my opinion only lead to more meds. They are evil. My son slightly jerks his head to one side when he is aggitated. I know my situation is a little different than others I've read here, but maybe someone has experienced something similar.

A good friend of mine (82) was recently rushed to the hospital because he woke up and could not get out of bed. After a week,he is now in rehab using a walker and going through leg exercises to build back his leg strength. The doctors are suspecting the Lipitor he has been taking (10 mg 2 times a week for about 3 years.) to be the cause of the muscle "atrophy". After reading these stories on this web site I am shocked to hear about all the problems Lipitor has seemingly caused people. I tried Lipitor for about 6 months, and had leg cramps in the tops of my legs (where they meet the body) and the Dr. promptly took me off of it and now I'm on Zocor, with no apparent side effects-but I'm reading up more on that.

Now in reading about Rhabdomyolysis (a severe side effect with muscle breakdown and kidney failure), I'm asking the doctors to check for that as my friend has had some symptoms-weight gain, weakness and now not being able to walk. You know, these men don't complain about aches and pains and many may be walking around with a time bomb going off inside them with these symptoms.

If anyone has experienced something similar, I'd love to hear from you, especially how long the recovery of muscle use can be.
Thank you.

Hi ladies. I started taking Yasmin about 8 months ago because I had terrible PMS. For the first 7 months, my PMS symptoms totally disappeared, making me very pleased with this pill. However, all of a sudden this month, for the past 2 weeks leading up to my period, my PMS symptoms have returned (i.e. bloating and swollen, tender breasts). Has anyone else experienced something similar after taking Yasmin for this amount of time?
