I've posted before about the side effects I've experienced and wanted to report that my sex drive, while not the same as it was before, is much better, and I've had some really good sex.
I understand that I could be spotting off and on for months, but I've had MAYBE 5 consecutive days without any sort of bleeding since I had it put in over a month ago. I'm nearing another two weeks of having my period.
If it weren't for instead menstrual cups, I'd have no sex life at all. I can handle it but I admit, it's starting to make me a little crazy having to wear something ALL THE TIME. I hope it ends soon!

I've been taking Yasmin for a year and a half now and have been suffering so many side effects I thought I might be imagining them. But now I know I'm NOT! 2 months after taking Yasmin my hair started to fall out in clumps, and has been falling out for over a year now. As if that wasn't bad enough, I've been moody, weepy, anxious, feeling ringing in my ears and vertigo, tiredness and so many other side effects described by other women on this forum.
I felt not myself for so long now and put it all down to the stress of a moving to a new country. But I know better now and only wish I made the connection sooner. I am going to stop taking Yamin immediately, but am worried about losing even more hair. Have any of you had similar experience, and most importantly - will it grow back?

I was prescribed Lisinopril for pre-hypertension at 10 mg a day. I've only taken it for 2 days and have felt so sluggish and tired but revved up on the inside at the same time. Had a headache too last night and blurry vision. It does work in lowering the BP though. Last night I felt as if I couldn't take deep breaths to relax myself and then I started having shaking chills and tingling in the hands and feet. Thought I was having a panic attack so I took my clonazepam. Then I felt like I'd have to throw up or go to the bathroom to get relief. The clonazepam kicked in after about an hour and knocked me out, but I still woke up a few hours later still feeling extremely anxious even though the clonazepam was still in my system (I take it twice a day for panic attacks) along with Lexapro for depression/generalized anxiety. I'm refusing to take any more of this drug. I will lose weight and exercise and eat healthy just to avoid this drug.

I have been off Zocor now for almost 6 weeks. I am not sure if my symptoms are from Zocor but they have been slowly, very slowly getting better. I have had numbness in both my legs, groin area and feet. Now there is this crackling feeling in both my feet and the numbness has changed to a feeling that my muscles are tightly flexed all the time. Has anyone else had these effects? I am trying to see if it is the Zocor or may be some other problem I may have.

Hi, my 14 year old daughter was prescribed Topamax about 6 months ago due to migrains that started when she had Mono. The mono lasted a good five months and the nuerologist to whom we were referred prescribed Tomamax after nothing else worked.
This morning as she was leaving for school, she said " I will take Aleve twice a day for the rest of my life, the Tomamax has made me stupid and I can't take it anymore!" With that my beautiful, brilliant daughter was out the door.
I am sick that I didn't look into this drug sooner. I found this site and am floored at all the side effects that sound exactly like hers. She has always been an A+ sudent who works hard, she lately has been saying she feels dumb, can't remember things, her knees hurt, her hair is falling out, she can't think, she is depressed etc. I have been downplaying her symtoms and blaming it on the mono. I am outraged at the craziness this drug has obviously caused and my failure to recognize the cause.
My questions now are, can she quit the Topamax immediatly and when, if ever can she expect her cognitive ability to return?
Please tell me the effects are not life long and what my next step should be to help relieve her of these symptoms.
Peace, Becky

My father was in for a quintuple bypass and had a stroke on the table. After surgery they put him on Levaquin, unbeknownest to me. He is now in a rehab facility and had I not walked in one morning and saw the IV drip, I would not have known. He has been having wild hallucinations and confusions so I asked them about it and they discontinued the drug right then. He was on this drug for 22 days, and 6 days later there has been very little change in him. I am very concerned about this, he was always very independent (only 73 years old) he did everything for himself and to see him like this breaks my heart. I hope it will eventually will get out of his system, but from what I have read I am doubtful. Make sure no one you know and love is put on this crap, I sure wish I would have known 22 days sooner.

I recently had gum surgery and was prescribed dox. I am only taking 100 mg/day, but I've had extreme lethargy, headaches, itching, swollen lips, nausea and bouts of confusion and dizziness. I feel very sad on this medication and I'm usually a very happy person. I'm stopping the meds today, so hopefully I will be back to my normal self within the next week. I wish I had researched the drug sooner so that I could have stopped taking it earlier...I thought my reactions were due to the pain meds, but I was mistaken!!!

I started using the NuvaRing a couple months after it first came out. I loved the freedom of not taking a pill evey day and my periods were very light, and lasted only a couple of days. I had used the NuvaRing faithfully up until January of this year when I became separated from my husband and decided that I really didn't neeed to be on birth control since I wasn't having sex. Until I came upon this message board I'd never been aware the NuvaRing had so many side effects that were NOT listed in the medication info. I am a nurse so I realize that there are side effects of medications that sometimes aren't listed, but that's usually because they are very mild and may only be experienced by a few people. Since reading other people's experiences with the NuvaRing, I am now starting to wish the NuvaRing never existed and I am very angry at this drug company for it NOT listing side effects that seem to be very common in users. I too had the annoying, embarassing, heavy discharge which was sometimes a brownish color, and it also had a funny smell to it. I almost felt like I could "smell myself" down there sometimes, even if I was clothed. My breasts were always tender, and my neck, shoulders, and all my joints ached and were stiff all the time, I noticed those symptoms more just after my period ended and I reinserted the ring. Otherwise I was fine and enjoyed a wonderful sex life and was happy.
Then about 2 years ago, I started to have a lack of motivation, uncontrolable mood swings, and I felt nervous and depressed all the time. My moods were horrible! I'd make the biggest deal out of nothing, lash out, and cause a lot of tension and fighting in my home. I felt depressed, wthdrawn, and wanted to not be around people a lot. Everyone annoyed me; EVERYTHING annoyed me! I became a very mean person. The weight gain was a horrible issue. I'd gain 20lbs. in three months easy and it WASN'T because I was sitting around stuffing my face. I had to almost starve myself to lose the weight. I'd finally get sick of eating rice cakes and salad all the time and start to eat normal again...and BAM...the whole weight gain cycle started over again. My weight kept going up and down like a yo-yo! I am a very active person, I like to eat healthy and exercise, and weight control had not been a issue since pregnancy. Sex began to be a chore for me and I hated it. The thought of having sex made me sick. I had a bad self image because of my up and down weight all the time and I would do anything to avoid letting my husband see me naked. I didn't want to be touched. My breasts weren't just tender, they were so annoyingly sensitive that I almost wanted to punch my husband if he touch them because the over sensativity sent a sickening feeling to my stomach. My cervix hurt during sex and the pain made it unbearable if my husband was inside of me too deep. I also experienced spotting after sex, sometimes heavy. I've never experienced those problems before. I also began to experience about 1 1/2 wks before I was to take out the NuvaRing, I'd start to have a heaviness in my chest almost like a panic attack was coming on; this would occur almost daily. Everytime I tried to inhale it was like I couldn't get my breathe in, and the coughing was horrible. I'd also not be able to fall asleep at night or I'd wake up in the middle of the night panicing and crying over stupid things. I used to blame it on the stress I was having in my marriage, but I'm starting to wonder if the NuvaRing was really the cause of the stress in my marriage! My husband would get so mad at me beacause of my moodiness and irritability that he started not wanting to be around me and started not coming home after work so he wouldn't have to deal with me. I became even more depressed and started having suicidal thoughts because I was unable to control my mood swings and didn't know why. Needless to say my husband left me. And since I didn't plan on having sex , I stopped using the ring. With in the next month my moods became stable, I was happier, felt good, and I began to sleep a lot better. I thought it was because my life was beginning to calm down.
Then in April, I'd started seeing someone and once again found the need for birth control, so I started using the NuvaRing again. I started to feel like crap again during the first week I used it. I had no idea why I was feeling this way again, until now. I have discontinued using the NuvaRing this month, not because of the way I was feeling again, but because I found out I'm pregnant. I'm not happy at all either. I don't want anymore children. Thanks NuvaRing! Had I known all this time that it was the ring that was making and had made me in the past so miserable, I would've just gotten a tubal and not wasted my time using such life ruining and ineffective birth control, and maybe I'd still have my husband too. If anyone out there reads this and their doctor has said it is such a wonderful method of birthcontrol...don't believe a word of it. Use something else. Take the advice from me and all the others here who've shared their experiences with you.

Wow. This site has been enlightening. I've been using the Nuvaring for almost 6 month. The side effects that I've experienced include nausea, loss of appetite, weight loss (probably from the nausea and loss of appetite), plus horrible migraines. My sex drive has plummeted to almost nothing. The thought of sex makes me feel disgusted and ill. Horrible mood swings - I feel incredibly angry a lot. I feel uncomfortable in my own skin, like the one user who felt like barbed wire was being dragged across her skin. Also, I've had constant itching and burning, plus painful urination.

I've been taking Januvia for 8 weeks, and have experienced muscle cramps with shock-like pain running down my leg into my heel; upper and lower GI spasms; night sweats with sleep interruption; and I gained 5 pounds in the first 4 weeks which I can't attribute to anything else. I've also taking metformin and glyset for several years, and although I've experienced the night sweats, they've greatly increased in intensity.

I've been on Nuva for about two months. So far the only side-effects I've had is lightheadedness... and it may not be related to the ring. I'm wondering, though, why some of you have had bad experiences with it, and yet you remain on it for 2,3,4 years???

My 7 year old son was just diagnosed with OCD and has been prescribed Prozac. I am not happy about this at all. I have had him on Prozac for one week now and thought I would check the internet on the effects of Prozac and Singulair on kids and was shocked to find out all of his current problems may be a result of the Singulair. I am taking him off of it effective today! This is after about 3+ years of being on Singulair. I am very disturbed at what I am reading about Singulair and the fact that it may be responsible for all of the terrible problems that he has been experiencing. He is beautiful, smart little boy that has been experiencing terrible thoughts and feelings lately to the point where he has told me that he wishes he was dead. I feel so bad that I did not check sooner. He is off Singulair today. I am notifying his pediatrician and hope this will result in a much happier little boy. I will write with results in a couple of months.

I read a ton of scary stuff about Levaquin. My doctor prescribed a 7 day dosage of 500 mg for a severe tonsil infection. I went on a vacation trip and didn't want to take the Levaquin due to the scary things I read on this site. I got sicker and sicker.
Finally, I decided to take the Levaquin. It helped the infection and pain in my tonsils and ears within a couple of hours.
I wish I took the antibiotic sooner and didn't get scared from the websites.
The only side effect I had was a slight loss of appetite and a little stomach upset.
The benefits far outweighed the consequences.
Levaquin was fine for me. BTW I'm a 29 year old female.

To poster 41496: I guess you haven't been hit by the poison. You can drink all the water you want, stay away from caffeine, and try everything else that people suggest. The fact is: If you have an adverse reaction to this drug (poison) you will be damaged for the rest of your life. Some of the things get better, but they never really go away. You can have permanent damage; brain receptors, hearing, tinnitus, neuopathy, cns problems so bad that suicide has happened to many. This poison should be off the market even though it's helped many, it has hurt many more. The true numbers will never be known because our wonderful FDA doesn't require drs to even send in a report to medwatch. That's the reason everyone should send one it. The sooner they realize just how many have been damaged, the sooner it will be taken off the market.

My 7 mth old daughter was given Onicef for her double ear infection. Several days into the medication we noticed her stools being an orange/red color and was worried that there was blood in her stool. My husband and I were not aware of this side effect. She has also started waking up several times during the night crying out and will not go back to sleep. This is very unusual for her since we can put her down at 9:30 and she will sleep until 6:00 the next morning. I am glad to know that we are not the only ones experiencing these problems. I wish we would have know sooner.

Hi Everyone,
Have been off for about 2 months. My muscles feel "off." I get weird aches in my ribs (hurts to breathe and when I press o them) and sometimes it is the muscles in my stomach? I also notice I have a lot of black and blues on my body and before I hardly ever got bruises??? Anyone else experience this? I think maybe it is related to how the Yasmin affected my adrenal glands. Any info?
P.S. I hate this stuff. I am so mad with myself for staying on it for 2 years and not going off sooner.

I took Neo 12 hour twice in the prescribed 24 hour period. I noticed the next morning that my heart rate was elevated upon rising, and while taking a shower, noticed that I was having lots of palpitations or "skipped beats" followed by a refreshing feeling...you know, the feeling you get after you hold your breath for a minute and then let it out and take a deep breath. I didn't think the episode was due to the Neo 12 hour, but changed to the Neo 4 hour because I wanted the stuffy head/nose to clear up sooner than 12 hours. I wanted to know if the Neo could interact with Sudafed or not, and if so, could it cause this problem to be worse than just one of these meds by itself?

I was prescribed a 4 week treatment of Levaquin for "Lingual Tonsillitis", which was mis-diagnosed by my internist and it wasn't until a month later my ENT was able to diagnose by doing a scope procedure. He prescribed Levaquin for me and I've been on it since December 9, 2006 and last night and this morning I couldn't walk. I had to go to work with a cane. It's been too painful to sit for any length of time. I had to start walking down the stairs one step at a time. I called my ENT and asked, at first, could this severe leg pain be a side effect of the medication and while I was waiting for a return call I side a google search and found similar stories of leg and joint pain. I called the ENT's office again and stated what I had found on the internet and wanted to be taken off the medication and given something else for the remaining 11 days of treatment. I got a call back from the ENT's assistant stating I should stop the medication and wait until it is out of my system before prescribing something else for my throat infection. While taking the medication initially, I had the constant need to stretch my legs and thought I just hadn't been walking enough and need to exercise more. Then I just started putting 2 and 2 together and realized this pain I'm experiencing must be from the medication...because I've never really had any problem with leg pain. I'm so angry for not getting this information sooner. I originally did a google search for "Levaquin" when I first got the prescription and got the same info I was given by the pharmacy...then today I did a search for "Levaquin Side Effects" and got a completely different list of sites. Now I know that putting in the name of the medication alone isn't enough information. Now I know better.

I take 1500 mg. Niaspan about 1 1/2 to 2 hours before going to bed. My Dr. advised me to take it with apple juice. My low fat snack and low dose aspirin is 30 minutes prior to taking niaspan/apple juice. As long as I follow this routine there is very little flushing. If I take niaspan sooner than 30 minites I have medium flushing for about 45 minutes.

BitterRN here again. Im sorry yesterday was the craziest day for me, at work and at home! But I did want to get back to you sooner. I think the reason you are getting sick is when the testosterone is dipping lower. Testosterone also helps keep the immune system strong. So it sounds to me like your body was (the past few months as you were feeling better) starting to kick your testosterone levels up a little higher which would cause you to feel better and kick your periods back on again.(When estrogen dominates periods dissappear)
but then you said after that month of a good period (higher testosterone) the following 2 months you only had light spotting (testosterone dropping again) Hormones fluctuate constantly all the time, this is why we feel ok some days and horrible the next. I think your testosterone dipped lower the past couple of months, this can be caused by many factors, the body demands more testosterone for stress, exercise, and any kind of healing. So you may have just overexerted your body in some way and caused it to go down. This would explain why you got sick (lower immune system) and why your symptoms came into play again, or the virus you caught may have caused the symptoms because your body could not fight it with the lowered resistance. I will write you some more tonight silke. I am at work and have to go. I just didnt want you to think I forgot about you.

Am I going crazy? I've been taking yasmin for only three weeks, i started having horrible back pain a few days ago that wont go away, and for the past three days i've litterally crying non stop and i dont know why which makes me cry more and have been very short tempered with my boyfriend over stupid things that dont matter at all. bless his heart because he probably thinks i'm crazy...I'm really considering stopping it because the only reason i was put on it was because i had a cyst on my ovary and its gone now so i figure from what everyone else is saying the sooner you quit taking it the better.
someone please tell me i'm not going crazy
thanks,

I just got my first prescription for Neurontin. When the pain management doctor told me he wanted me to try this, I asked him if there wasn't anything on television regarding this drug & suicide? He said he wasn't aware of anything. No sooner do I get home & the commercial for a law firm says if you or anyone you know has commited suicide while taking this medication contact 1-800 so & so..I am terrified of trying it! What do you recommend? I am truly afraid of that particular side-effect, the one where you get so depressed that all seems hopeless & commit suicide. Can anybody advise me?????Thanks, Margarita

All I can say is thank you ladies for posting all of this. I was on Nuva ring for almost 2 years. my boyfriend complained I was getting worse and worse in terms of my anger and mood swings. He called me a monster. Then days after my 20th birthday I experienced lots of itchiness and pain after sex so I thought it was a yeast infection. When I did not respond to over the counter meds I went to the hospital to get testing for STDS. When all the test came back negative I went back to my regular doctor two weeks later. Again, I was tested and a month later tested again. No one could figure out why I was having burning and itchiness with no other symptoms and all my STD test negative. Finally I gave up the ring and have been symptom free now for nearly 6 months. To this day the situation plagued me because the doctor swore I couldn't experience this from the Nuva ring. I spent a whole summer in pain because of this. Now I am birth control free but my boyfriend of three years and I would love to add to our family.
