I have isolated the additive "Silicon Dioxide" which is contained in many snack foods, gravy mixes, fixodent etc. as the cause of Extreme Joint Pain through a careful diary of the appearance of symptoms and my intake. Recently while carefully avoiding any packaged goods I again developed these symptoms. After carefully reviewing everything Including the Ingredients on the label of the Gax X strip I used, I decided to continue the research of the strips "online" and II found this:
Ingredients
Calcium Phosphate Tribasic , Colloidal Silicon Dioxide , D&C Red 30 Aluminum Lake , Dextrose , Flavors , Maltodextrin , Propylene Glycol , Soy Protein Isolate

I am a 34 year old male. I have been on 80mg of Prednisone 7 days a week for 2 months now. I will be getting my dosage lowered to 60mg tomorrow but am having a difficult time dealing with the Moon face, eye bags, acne, and sleepless nights. I go to the gym 4 times a week and am in shape other than this freak fake head it looks like I have now. Has anyone been able to find a way to make the effects not so noticable..as in diurex or diet pills. I would like to try anything but want to be safe at the same time. Thanks for any help and god bless. David

Hi I have read the posts here with interest. I have been trying to get family and friends off of all meds! I firmly feel that doctors push pills too quickly when there are other methods to control cholesterol etc. My cholesterol was rather high a couple of years ago, and my doctor wanted to put me on lipitor. I asked for 6 months of dieting first and he agreed. When I ate less meat and more soy protein, no trans fat and less than 10 grams of saturated fat per day, my cholesterol lowered. My ldl was still high at 160 but my hdl was high at 60 and my tryglicerides lowered to 89, my doctor was so pleased that he said keep on doing what ever it is your doing! The real measurement is the ratio. My ratio is 4 (trying to get that lower now) a 4 is good and lower is much better. It's the hdl that makes the difference. I hope everyone can make the switch to a healhier approach to managing your cholesterol and bp. I am 53 by the way, and have never taken a bp or cholesterol med. Increase your soy intake and the #s will drop.
peace and love to all

I've taken Synthroid since 1969. The only time I had side affects was when the drug was reformulated (without my knowledge) and the dosage I was taking became Toxic to my liver. My hair started falling out, my leg muscles became enflamed and I didn't feel well.

Most of the symptoms I've read here indicate incorrect dosages. Today's doctors treat lab tests more than patients' symptoms and the lab tests most doctors use don't reveal whether T4 properly converts to T3. Typically, they run a TSH and if you're lucky, they might throw in a T4. There are many other drugs on the market that block T4-T3 conversion (i.e. birth control and anti depressentants type medications are two of the big ones) as well as other environmental factors. Clinical studies have proven that soy protein blocks thyroid hormone production/obsorption at the cellular level. It's hard to find food products today that aren't loaded with soy. Don't take my word for it though. Research for yourselves. Hair loss can be caused by too much, too little or Synthroid not actually working at all due to other factors.

Good Luck! At least everyone here was diagnosed as having a problem. There are millions out there that go undiagnosed who are suffering from much worse symptoms than us.
