I've been on Biaxin for bronchitis for four days now, following a trip to the ER for breathing problems. I thought it was allergies. The first two days weren't too bad except for the extreme thirst and not being able to sleep (and the gas). If I happened to go to sleep I would have weird dreams and wake up again. I don't know if was the Biaxin or the hydrocodone cough syrup. With the third day, I couldn't think straight and I couldn't remember words. Could be lack of sleep, I guess. Conversations were difficult. I felt spacey. At the same time, I felt like I was on fast-forward: hurry up, hurry up, gotta go, gotta go, gotta get it done, faster, faster! This is the fourth day. I'm still on fast-forward and still dizzy and spacey. My blood pressure is up and my heart rate is down. My pulse is 55. It's time for another dose, but I'm not taking it. In fact, I'm going off all my meds except the blood pressure pills in case it's a drug interaction that's not mentioned. I'll call my own doctor in the morning and talk to him. I trust him more than the anonymous ER doc.

I started with 25 mg for migraines and upped dosage by 25mg pweek for 4 weeks till I reached 100 mg per day. Right away this didnt work because you cant half the pills because the taste will kill you. but once I adjusted to the 50 mg it was ok. There are side effects. I have cured my life long addiction to coca cola. I can no longer drink soda, it tastes gross, really vile, and I have lost almost twenty pounds sfter one month. The no soda gave me incentive, so I have been dieting, but the topamax only seems to help. I have only had one migraine this month, on the monring of my periods arrival. This hasnt happened in twenty years. Ive been on all sorts of meds throughout the years. I love topamax. I have had some other side effects. I am diagnosed as bipolar, and do not take medicine because the depakote made me a zombie. Life has been much easier, although on the days I up my dosage I was a bit hyperemotional. Nothing too bad though. I was, however, unable to drink two glasses of wine on this medication. I did have some spacey moments, and tingly fingers as well. Like I said before, nothing compared to Depakote, and nothing that I wouldnt trade for ONe hormonal migraine a month. I love this stuff.

My 6 year old daughter started taking Singulair because the doctor said it would help with her allergies thus would help with her asthma. It seems to help her some with this yet the side effects she begin soon out weighed the benefits. She complained of severe leg pains, stomach aches and trouble thinking. Her teacher begin to express concern that she seemed more spacey, tired all the time and not staying on task. Her memory seemed worse and her grades went from As and Bs to Cs and Ds. Her nose bleed more often and she was more moody. She was very sluggish in the morning and at night could not sleep. We took her off and these symptoms seem to have gone away so we have keep her off the drug Singulair.

my 5 year old son has been taking singulair for reactive airway disease for just over a year. since he began taking the medicine, he has slowly become more and more distracted, irritable, moody, aggressive, anxiety ridden and clingy. the anxiety has been especially noticeable-he's developed odd phobias and fear of things like semi trucks and spiders and riding in the car. (things he never had a problem with before, and things that seem odd for a 5 year old to be worrying about) he also has had regular complaints of stomach pains (especially first thing in the morning), headaches and pain in his ears (which he has seen the doctor for on more than once occasion, and each time i've been told that there was no ear infection). he recently started kindergarten and his teacher has also noticed that he seems spacey and inattentive, as well as restless and "lost in his own world". due to the fact that there are several people on my husband's side of the family who have been diagnosed with ADD, we were beginning to feel that perhaps our son had it, too. we've been doing research and have spoken with his teacher and the school counselor about possible ADD, and just tonight we were sitting down and filling out an ADD checkpoint questionnaire for the school. i happened to glance at some of the reference material the school counselor sent to us along with the questionnaire, and i noticed that one of the points of reference for ADD diagnosis is that the person in question isn't on any "highly stimulating medications." it was right at that moment when i put two and two together and realized that our son's symptoms began right after he began taking singulair, so i came online to do a side effect web search, which is how i found this site. i can not believe how shocked i am to read all these other people's experiences with this medication!! i feel terrible that i've been making my son take something so questionable for so long, and i feel just as bad that i was about to seriously consider putting him on ADD medication!! now i am definitely going to try taking him off the singulair first and see if that changes his behavior! thank you all so much for sharing your stories. they really do help!

I really, really regret ever having started Lamictal to begin with. Even though lamictal has greatly helped me with my social anxiety/ocd/gad/whatever it is I have (lol), it has caused too many damn side effects.
I started taking it sometime July and now it's September 21st, so it's been in my system for a couple of months now. When I first started on the starter pack, the 25 mg didn't have any effect on me- and then it started making me really, really anxious. I'd have super big physiological reactions to stress, but then I was advised to take it at night. Of course that started insomnia, and when I increased it to 50 mg I was really sensitive to light. It also caused my eyes to twitch and not stay closed when I tried to sleep- which was really, really annoying.
When I was first doing the 100 mg, at one point I became manic (I couldn't stop talking, I had racing thoughts, energetic- felt like I was on top of the world) and then I crashed. It was really hard going from being manic to really depressed, but that's the shit that happens on lamictal lol.(for me at least)
Anyways, so finally the 100 mg started to level me out- but I still have the rapid mood swings. I also feel incredibly spacey all the time and have trouble focusing/concentrating. Oh yeah, and my short term memory is shot. And my libido- which is really important to me. I hate having freakin' vaginal dryness and not really wanting sex- so irksome.
My advice to anyone reading this: don't ever try lamictal- it's not worth it.

I had a grand-mal in October of '06, so I was first prescribed on Dilating. And then in December of '06 they also had me on Lamictal, but 50mg daily along with 300mg Dilantin. I was totally off Dilantin as of March '07 and was taking 200mg Lamictal daily. I had no side effects from Lamictal until I started noticing in May that I had staring spells. I didnt pay attention to it at first, and then I noticed that my staring spells were happening way more frequently. And if that wasnt bad enough, as time progressed, I started feeling spacey, had shortness of breath every once in a while, and a bit of anxiety. Now it is up to the point where Ive just about had it, since I've been spacing out wayyyy too much, and I sometimes feel SO fatigued for no reason...like the lifes been drained out of me. My vision has also been getting blurry which is another big annoyance. What Im wondering is that why would they give you medicine if it wasnt out for too long or even officially approved? Im hoping I can get off this medicine! I wanna drive and actually be able to pay attention to normal things instead of spacing out.

Hi everyone –
I read this entire thread (wow, but good read)! I will start with the positives and end with the negatives (and yes, I’m going OFF Yaz).
Positives I lost weight (flat stomach due to the diuretic) and spontaneous sex (but the tricky thing is, it takes away your libido or at least mine) – lost about 5 LBs and decreased appetite. 120 to 115 lbs and sometimes 112 – flexuates between 112-115.
Negatives
First month I felt VERY nauseous – took the pills at night but didn’t help. I had some stomach cramps which went away. I had severe migraines (one that made me vomit and I could not move & I was in such unbearable pain I thought I was going to die – seriously (stuck in bed all night – and yes the headaches did stop after 4 months). I felt “spacey” all the time (this was early on, went away) – Best way to describe this would be like drinking a glass or two of wine, I felt a bit numb. I would get as one poster described these brain spurts that zapped me with this dizzy thing that lasted seconds and would go away (nice to read that as I know I’m not alone). Another common side effect I still got up until the 6 month was my ears plugging up (usually in the morning) and it happened a lot and it was from the pill. I also had troubles sleeping and anxiety out of nowhere (all of a sudden I felt too nervous to walk in my bosses office, very bizarre). I had to go in the bathroom and breathe then felt ok.
The week before my period I am MOODY and ANGRY inside and it’s made me feel more withdrawn from my boyfriend. I was never a depressed person before or moody minus occasional crabbiness from lack of sleep or stress. I never had severe PMS to start to it did the reverse for me, made my PMS worse. I have only been on this pill for 6 months to by the way! Curious if it is true about the serotonin in this pill – if there is serotonin isn’t it supposed to make you happy, LOL so I don’t know how much that part is true. Guess I do better a la natural!
My libido is gone but only comes back during aunt flow when I’m taking NO PILLS and I feel happy during my period (and sexual) and my old self (go figure?). the thought of sex doesn’t cross my mind and trust me prior I was like a cat on a hot tin roof (in my 30’s afterall)!
I used to do Ortho for years with headaches but no loss of sex drive or anything then stopped cold turkey for a year. Prior to that I did seasonal and had some hair loss and a brown spot on my face due to the BC.
It’s really hard to find a specialist who really gets in the ins and outs of birth control pills. They should have a dr that works only on BC’s (sorry but most gyno’s don’t really know as they say “everyone is different which is true but c’mon, you guys are way more educated of the pro’s and con’s then they are). I went to see an OBGYN that said “that’s what happens in relationships, you’re libido drops” when I told her, I thought “huh” what kind of DR are you? My regular DR was way better informed but not a specialist (waste of my time and money)! She told me to stop having a period and to take Yaz continuously and gave me more free samples. Wonder how much the manufacturer is paying her? Makes me wonder. I prefer to have a period, that’s when I felt like myself again, ha!
I want lists and stats of all pills same with side effects and percentages of women who experience the same. I wish Oprah would do a show on this – anyone have any connections??? It should be called “Birth Control, what he manufacturers don’t want to tell you” basically you can have condomless sex but the catch is “ you don’t want sex” LOL
Thanks.
Peanut
PS The straw was last Saturday – I was so moody (5 days before aunt flow) and my BF thought I wasn’t into him anymore and I couldn’t shake the withdrawn feeling and today I miss him so much and can’t wait to see him Saturday and I will not be starting my new pack of pills on Sunday –we’re putting Latex back into business until I research other methods, possibly nuva ring but who knows? Next 2-3 months I don’t want anything in my body besides food and weekend drinks, ha!

I have been taking Lamictal for just over a year. Some of the side effects have been noticable for a few months, but others seem to just be appearing and getting worse. I have loss of balance and coordination, my vision is gettng worse, I have a hard time concentrating and finding the right words, I forget how to spell common words, I have short-term memory loss and feel spacey. I can always figure it out, but it takes longer. I began doing Pilates every day about 3 months ago and still cannot get the routine down and it is just as hard for my muscles as it was in the beginning. I can't seem to lose weight and have horrible acne on my face. I had 2 seizures before beginning Lamictal and am suppose to be on it for 2 years before trying to go off. Without insurance though, I am unable to do follow-ups w/ my neurologist and she seems unconcerned and unsypathetic to my situation, not giving me the time of day. She never even told me all of these side effects could develop, much less that they might begin long after I started taking Lamictal. Has anyone had these side effects after having taken the Lamictal for so long then stopped taking the Lamictal? Will these side effects go away after I stop taking it??

I sttarted taking yasmin for skin reasons and take it at night around 8pm. Every morning i have been NAUSEOUS until around lunch time. I'm incredibly THIRTSY, and am super LETHARGIC at 24! I have been on it for 11 days but after taking tonights pill and suffering from BLOATEDNESS, and my breats are SWOLLEN and TENDER! I feel SPACEY but not spacey enough to chuck the packet out immediately! I'd never say don't try it but be vigilent. I read the precautions before taking it, but was lulled into a false sense of security by it being low oestrogen doses. The onbly good thing is I am too nauseous to smoke, but also to function.

I switched from celexa to wellbutrin...celexa made me gain 40lbs!!! Losing weight was so hard and for me thats unusual...My doctor thought if that was my concern i should try wellbutrin. I have only been on Wellbutrin for 4 days. Im spacey and moody and energetic. But at the same time I want to sleep. Its weird. Do these side effects go away? I hate feeling the first two. Also-very weird...I know you arent supposed to drink on it but I figured what the heck...so I went out with some friends. I drank seven drinks in the course of like 6 hours and did not feel anything but a remote buzz. Very strange. Usually that would get me drunk. What a waste of alcohol and money! :>

I was on Celexa for a year and a half and gained 40lbs!!! Has anyone else experienced this? It was a great anti-depressant but did make one somewhat lethargic. I also kept having small fits of depression here and there despite the meds. I just switched to Wellbuterin and its making me alternately spacey and moody, but i've only been on it four days. Does it get better?

After my second dose of inhaled Advair for Bronchitis I started feeling spacey and unable to concentrate. I had to keep laying down to "collect myself". As an hour went by I began trembling and feeling weak. Also, my windpipe felt like a big loose bruised bag in my throat. Went to the hospital because I was feeling anxious about my symptoms.
When they tested me I had a low heart rate, 58. All my blood work was good. I never took another dose and 36 hours late I'm almost 100%.

I have not taken any medication in many years as I am generally healthy. After taken these large nasty pills, I feel very dizzy, spacey and sleepy. I have been prescribed 500 mg. for 7 days and since day one I've felt this way. This is day 4 and I feel very sleepy. The taste is HORRIBLE and everything I've eaten since than has a metallic taste.

I started taking Topomax three weeks ago and have been feeling spacey, dopey and drowsy since. My sleep is interupted, my feet and legs are numb and tingely much of the time and I have a hrad time concentrating. My skin is very itchy, too. But, what disturbes me most are the postings about hair loss. My hair is thin and fine to begin with -- I can't stand to lose any hair. My doctor didn't warn me about this. Also, I've not lost any weight on the drug, although I did give up drinking sparkeling mineral water as the taste changed dramatically. I am about ready to ask to be taken off the drug, although I haven't had a single migraine since I started, and before I was getting 4 - 5 a week and they'd last 1 - 3 days (and some up to 8 days), so this is a big improvement.

I was put on 1 gram of solumedral a day for 3 days and I am now doing the whole taper down thing for the next 18 days starting at 80 mg a day of prednisone. My knees and lower back were extremely painful the first 4 days. I'm now at 50 mg and the joint pain isnt too bad anymore but i did catch a cold, pink eye, and I feel very spacey. I am taking natural supplements along with the pred, I think they are helping a little. I'm also drinking ALOT of fluid and really fighting the cravings to eat. I hope there are no serious side effects as the doses get lower. I hope everyone that doesnt NEED to take this medicine can some how flush their system of it or for those who must take it, hopefully you can counter balance the negative side effects...Good luck and please share any knowledge you may have...we all need it!

Started taking this a month ago for severe dog/cat/dust mite allergy. At first, no side effects and no improvement. 30 days later some improvement - but doesn't last very long into the day - now headaches, abdominal pain, can't sleep at night, lethargic during the day, feel the urge to urinate all day - no uti doctor said, water weight gain / yet less appetite, possible constipation, dizzy, spacey, forgetful, tingling in lips/hands and feel extremely aggressive / irritable at times during the day. SO - tonight, I'm stopping this medicine! The only thing it seemed to do was improve my allergies slightly (I'm severely allergic) - and that only lasted the morning...by evening, it was like I never took the pill (I took it 10pm every night). Oh yeah, nightmares...and I wouldn't mind ALL of the side effects / IF - it had worked great...but NO. I had high hopes for this medication which my allergist suggested/did not insist on...but am disappointed with the effects and the side effects. I read here that in 2 days off it I'll be like new...can't wait. NEVER had a migraine before I took this drug, was always a SOUND sleeper...not irritable - I'm 41 female and in otherwise excellent health. I did gain weight/but it is water weight (I can tell) and I assume it will go as soon as it came...within a week or so of taking the first NASTY pill. I welcome back my allergies with open arms...good bye Singulair.

I take 150mg all at one, at night. I've been taking it for over a year but just recently have started experiencing all the effects I just listed

My 13 year old was put on Singulair 1 year ago for asthma/allergys and it has helped tremendously with those symptoms. However, with the start of school several teachers have mentioned that he is often spacey, seems disinterested, non-responsive. He has also been extremely moody these past 6 months, angry alot, irritable, always tired. Since reading this site I took him off of the Singulair 3 days ago and his allergies have been horrific. I also started him on the Quercetin. Am wondering how long I should give the Quercetin to take affect? Anyone had experience with this? Also, should I stop the Singulair all at once or take him off slowly??

Went to doctor because of burning in throat and chest and nausea. Friend had the flu and I was starting to feel the same.
Doc diagnosed fluid on ear and swollen lymph nodes. First two days os zpak diarhea set in; next day chest in severe pain; next day feeling weak and spacey; today nauseous all day - breathing bad and throat tight and headachey.
This has done nothing for the nauseousness which doc said was due to sinus drainage. Sinus got worse with white yeast material getting spit out. Yeast of course is fungus----so appears that the zpak has created yeast in the upper respiratory area rather than curing the fluid it is now congealed into white stuff.
One more pill to take. Do I take or not?
Also, told ht edoc I was allergic to erythymycin----so she prescribed zpak---------is this not the same as erythromycin?
If this is the same then I am not surprised that I am feeling bad on this medication.
Never again on z pak.

I'm on day three. I've been on inhailers most of my life I'm 30 6'1 and 145 lbs. Good news and bad news on my report so far. I immediatly noticed that it made me spacey. I play a musical instrament as a hobby and I think it's a good solid judgement of change. More then anything my ability to think and due had somehow been offset. Thoughs didn't quite make it to my hands in time. I have heavy jitters, and my memory is lapsing. On the other hand I haven't felt like I had to use the inhailers at all, and it seems to be better when I'm around things that normally agravate me. I guess it's a trade off.... will report more later...

My three year old is stoned out of his head on this stuff. It has not effected his cough at all, but he now falls asleep or "passes out" without notice. His eyes are dialated, he is "spacey" and is having nightmares and when awake, what I think are hallucinations. He has trouble with motor skills- even the simple things. We have stopped using it now and after 24 hours he is started to become a little normal. VERY unsettling.

After I underwent the procedure for preparations for a dental crown, I experieinced bad headaches, earache and my many teeth would ache bably out of the blue. I took ultracet last night and my pain went away. However, about an hour after taking it, I felt dizzy, spacey, and then felt extreme sleepiness. Here it is, the next morning, I am at work, and I still feel a bit out of it. Glad it can relieve my pain but not sure if I want to experienced these side effects again.

I was taking Toprol and HCTZ for high blood pressure. I had additional symptoms of head ache and dizziness and lethargy. To be sure that the meds weren't causing the problems, my doctor put me on Lisinopril 20 mg. I started doing research on the web when the first day I took it I actually feel even more lethargic and spacey. Imagine my surprise when I found this site that lists all the side effects for which I already have most !! Time to speak with my doctor again!! There has to be a better medication out there for BP than this.

I took Doxy for 1 month to treat Lyme disease. It was awful. I can't imagine taking this long-term. I had many of the side-effects already mentioned but two I haven't seen are dandruff and metallic taste in my mouth which totally ruined drinking water. Both of these effects eventually went away after abx stopped. The fuzzy-thinking was dangerous. One evening, about an hour after taking it, when this symptom was the worst, I was climbing off my boat and somehow tripped myself and fell onto the dock. I still don't understand what I did to make myself fall. Just very spacey. I sprained some ribs. So be careful right after taking this drug. Now I'm trying a long-term use of the Peruvian herb Samento, as I believe the Lyme bacteria is gone but can't prove it. So this is my safeguard approach. Best wishes to all.
