The instructions that come with this medication clearly indicate that this medication , and is typed in caps USE OF THIS MEDICINE IS NOT RECOMMENDED IN CHILDREN under the age of 15. Please talk to the doctor about the risks and benefits before giving this to your child.

Now that is with the print out you get when you pick up this medicine from Kaiser, and other drug stores, so I am really shocked to read all these stories of people giving this drug to so many small children. Always research your medication BEFORE you give it to yourself or your child.
I have had many bad reactions, and had to learn the hard way for myself and mor my aging mom, she almost was rendered brain dead from a drug I did not research. Do your homework FIRST! I will never make this mistake again. Hope this helps someone.

Cipro turned my daughter into an invalid. These side effects can be permanent, or they can resolve quickly. they are not rare, and may come on at any time within the first year after use of cipro. It is likely the most dangerous drug on the market. there are many web pages on the side effects of cipro and its class of drugs. Specifically see http://www.fqresearch.org/ and http://www.fluoroquinolones.org/

My experiance on the ring has mostly been wonderful. Before the ring I had tried three types of oral birth control and all of them lead to odd mood disorders and severe nausea. The upsides are it is VERY easy to remember and it cut my nausea down to nothing. I have had headaches but I cannot contribute that specifically to the ring. Since I started on any birth control I have had no sex drive and the amount of sex drive I had while on the pill did not change when I switched to the nuvaring. Vagina discomfort is there to and sex does hurt on occasion but for the most part all the side effects from the pill were lessened when I began the ring. No birth control is perfect but the nuvaring is as close as I have come.

hey i am 19 yrs old and i have been on yasmin for 2 yrs. Never really thought i had any side effects till last week. I all of a sudden lost some of my sex drive. Since then i have not been myself at allllll. I feel like im crazy. Like i am here but my emotions arent. I feel different around my boyfriend of 2 and ahalf yrs and i feel different at work and at home. I'm just driving myself insane wondering if somethin is wrong with me. The only thing i can think of is my birth control. I also have rediculous anger problems now. I freak out over nothing..start yelling and screaming and crying. I have had heart palpatations and an upset stomach for a few days and it happens off and on..but mostly i just DO NOT FEELLIKE MYSELF ..Have any of you experienced any of that?

I’ve been taking Lisinopril for a few weeks and have some side effects, including night sweats, tired, achy and tenderness in the middle back (kidney area). I am an exercise nut including 150 miles a week of bike riding and I have noticed a decrease in my endurance and strength. Most notably this weekend I attempted the Seattle to Portland bike ride (204 miles) and was forced to quit after a 104 miles due to heat exhaustion like symptoms. I had been drinking and eating regularly during the ride as I had done many times in training, but as the temperature continued to rise above 80 deg at 11:00 am I was only getting worse. I realize this is an extreme case but I believe that Lisinopril had some effect on my ability to control my body temperature under long endurance efforts and higher ambient temperatures, is this possible?

So I'll refer to today as Hell Day, the day when all the horrible symptoms of my birth control pill attack me at once and I literally cannot take it. I had this exact same thing happen when I was on the nuvaring, and I stopped it immediately. I'm willing to sacrifice having 100% safe sex if it means I don't have to feel like I'd rather shove a knife through my brain than exist. It's only my second month of Yasmin, and I'm feeling more fatigued than ever before in my life. I feel so horribly depressed. It's beautiful outside and I was lying on the grass, thinking only about being DEAD. I'm not one to be depressed. The only other time I've felt this awful was my third month into the Nuvaring. I specifically asked my doctor for something that wouldn't make me depressed, nor gain weight. Well, I gained about 5 pounds that won't come off no matter how hard I try, and the depression is just getting worse and worse. I'm stopping this pill tomorrow.

Other symptoms included:
*Initially: a sharp breathing pain under my left lung
*Weird, small rash on my leg
*Would rather be in bed than do anything
*Overwhelming feeling of loneliness, questioning self-worth, etc.

It was nice to find this website, finally figuring out a reason why I get my yeast infections, headaches, naseau, pain on my left breast bone, fatigue, mood swings, etc... I always thought it was just me, but I'm now thinking that maybe it's not. I've had recurrent yeast infections ever since being on Yasmin (I've been on it for over 4 years) and my MD has never mentioned it could be the pill. I finally started seeing a connection between the two when I started tracking what happens to me when I miss taking the pill (ALWAYS a yeast infection). And it got me to thinking that maybe there are other women out there who suffer from the same thing. Also, at some points I actually thought I had serious mental/health problems b/c of my consistent headaches, fatigue, and mood swings. I used to be really active up until I was 19 when I started on Yasmin, and it went downhill from there. I guess I just thought that this was just my normal grown up self (I know sounds kinda lame). And I've totally experienced the lack of sex drive, it seems I'm only interested the week before I get my period or when I'm on it.

Well We"ll see. I did specifically google for toprol and weight gain. Would I have founkd the same if I googled weight loss and toprol? I thought the gain was causee by my back surgery; but I"ll now more in a few weeks now that I am exersizing. Am Ieating more, craving fat, more hungery, slower metabolism, bloated, more relaxed, lazy? I don't know?

To flowerbabies and all the ladies -

Please read the earlier posts a few pages back the ones that were lengthy-one specifically I posted is on Magnesium and what decreases in it does to the body and what having ample prevents-ie. the muscle spasms so many women were complaining of/muscle twitches. It has also been linked to heart murmurs/palpitations.......

while I know several people thought that the lengthy postings were just too much but reading through, identified sources and likely possible causes of teh symptoms and effects of Yasmin!

I'm not sure if these are from Yasmin...it's so hard to tell. And the weirdest thing, is that my problems have been lately--it is currently July and I started Yasmin in December.

GOOD THINGS:
1) birth control, worry free sex lol.
2) slightly bigger boobies
3) no weight gain
4) regular periods.
----------------------------------------------------
Problems as of last few months:

1) i dont get horny much...
2) sometimes it's hard for me to get wet, ESPECIALLY at first, which is probably the cause of the above.
3) occasional weird feeling during sex...not pain, but a mild dull, might be pain kind of thing.
4) didn't really improve acne...
-----------------------------------------------------

The last few days I've had really, really badlower abdominal cramping--not specifically one on side or the other.....anyone else have this (and it's been 6 months after starting pill ).

What the hell1!?!?! anyone having these same problems?
Thank you all so much for sharing....as someone said above, it's so nice to read some of that stuff, and be relieved to see that at least we might know the cause.

Congratulations, Angela 1082 for having no side effects.

In answer to your question, the eye is the most delicate system in the human body. The manufadturer lists eye problems as one of the side-effects. Additionally, blood clots (possibly causing arterial occlusion which causes visual impairment) is listed as a side effect. Arterial bleeding doesn't surprise me either. Blood clots may be caused by vascular bleeding. The manufacturer doesn't specify.

Now, if I may now ask a question or two of you? You specifically state that you have absolutely no side effects with Levaquin and it's not the first time you've taken it. I'm curious how a healthy 23 year old found herself here on a board and why you feel compelled to push forward your lack of symptoms and your dismissive attitude (specifically towards occular problems) to a group of people who are so obviously having pretty serious side effects?

Hello everyone,
I too have had problems on bcp (specifically coming off of it) and had a tough time with anxiety/insomnia/ depression due to the loss of hormones. I was never really quite sure how reproductive hormones affected all of these things and I couldn't get clear info from docs or from the web. I eventually read a book called, "Its My Ovaries Stupid" By Dr. Elizabeth Vliet. In it she talks about how changes in estrogen and progesterone affect anxiety, depression, hair loss, headaches, urinary problems..the list goes on and on. It was a HUGE relief for me to read this book and it made me feel SO much better about my situation. I highly recommend you look into it. She is also the author of, "Screaming to be Heard: Hormonal Connections Women Suspect but Doctors Ignore"
Good reading!

sickofbeingsick--
thanks for the response. I was having real high hopes about the ring since I thought it would be lower dose, more constant hormone levels => fewer and less severe side effects, but I guess not. Although, I don't think I could EVER get worse headaches than what I've been experiencing with Yasmin. Has anyone else tried another kind of BCP? It seems to me that Yasmin made everyone swear off hormonal tharapy forever? And to think I specifically requested it because I thought it'd help me with water retention?!? Blah.

I'm red. I mean my body has a redish tint to it. My face looks flushed, like I am extreming embarrassed and blushing!

I have taken prednisone a few times before and never noticed any side effects. However I am on a larger dose than I was on last time. I am currently on 40 MG a day for 3 days then 20MG a day for 3 days.

I asked the pharmacist specifically if there was any side effect with Prednisone and sunlight (direct and indirect) and she stated there was not!

I asked becuase I have been using a tannig bed in preperation for a trip to Hawaii next weekend. I am not sunburnt, there is no pain or heat involved with the skin. Has anyone else experienced redness? I am typing this Sunday night Jan 22. I am calling my doctor in the morning , just found this site and thought I would give it a shot

Thanks

Have had insomnia for 3 days on this med, after specifically telling the MD (not my regular doctor) that I had trouble with pseudoephedrine. My heart rate was very rapid and irregular. I am also an athelete, and drink tons of water. This medication wasn't in my PDR, so thanks to this web site I have found what the culpret is, and it isn't menapause!!!!

My son, who is now 10 started taking Singulair about a year ago for his chronic asthma. I started investigating this drug to see if i can change when i give it to him. He has horrible sleep patterns now and I thought If I started giving him his dose in the morning, it would help his nightmares. I come to find out that other people were experiencing nightmares as well. My son is also been extremely aggressive over this last year, but just thought it was behavioural. He's complained of stamach pains, but thought it was gas,, and has complained of leg cramps, but thought they were growing pains. I never thought these symtoms were linked at all the the meds and his asthmas has been wonderful. I now have an appointment for my child to test his liver enzymes because of what i've read on here. I'm horrified that i've subjected my little guy to all of this and unknowingly dismissed everything he was feeling. I'm angry because I specifically asked my doctor if there were any side effects, he said "NO!" Parents, please be aware,, I wish I had been.

Well to be honest, I think some of bad things that have been said are WAY exaggerated. I have been on this drug for 6 yrs and yes I have gained a little weight but it really doesn't bother me because I have never felt better. This is the best drug that I have ever been on for depression. ALOT of what people have experienced with this drug and with trying to get taken off of it is all in their MIND. If you keep telling youself something, you will actually start to believe it. I was also specifically told NOT to quit COLD turkey because it can actually cause death because of the withdrawls, they can be very harmful. So people who do that are STUPID. I feel nothing for those who have done that and complain about what happend for the first few days they were off of it because if they were serious about trying to fix their problem, they would have done it the RIGHT WAY.

A recent post stated that this site has been a "collecting pool for side effects", which begs the question is that not exactly what this site is for? If you notice the link states that sending a post here is for ADDING an additional adverse drug reaction to this never ending list [specifically "Add Side Effect"}. I do not believe it was intended for any "positive" reports as they would NOT be considered an adverse event. One would also have to question as to "WHY" someone who has had a positive experience to a drug would even bother to research it. It has been my eperience that only those who are suffering would be motivated to do so. Perhaps such post are being generated by those who would profit from the sale of such a toxic drug. Something to consider when reviewing this list of post marketing reports contained herein.
