Sperm symptoms and conditions

On May 11th, Monday, I started feeling lower abdomen pain and though it was gas. When I went to the doctor the next day, she took a urine test and told me I had a bladder infection. She prescribed Sulfa for 5 days, 2x a day. This is my last day and I have one more pill to go. The first day I took it, I woke up with a stiff neck. I thought I was getting better until this morning when, for the first time, it actually burned to pee and there was some blood spots. In addition, my stomach has gotten much larger than it ever has even when I gain weight. I feel like I might be pregnant because a few weeks back I was intimate with a guy and he placed his penis firmly on the opening of my vagina and was there for a while. He did not penetrate because I am still a virgin but could it be that sperm from his pre-cum might have entered my birth canal? But if my doctor took a urine test 10 days after that incident and nothing showed up to show I was pregnant, could it be because the pregnancy hormone wasn't at a detectable level yet? I have no idea. I just know that I am usually a very healthy and clean person and this has just thrown my body off track and I'm freaking out~

Although this isn't a side effect I wasn't quite sure where to post it... But my question is: Do you know anyone or did you get pregnant while using the Yasmin birth control pill? I know that these pills make your body think it's pregnant but I think I may actually be pregnant. Although I don't "feel" pregnant my body sure is acting like it is, I.E. sore breasts, weird cravings and aversions to food, headaches, very tired, very hungry etc. Has anyone had these side effects too and you weren't pregnant? Thanks!

I think it's terrible how some doctor's give some info and others give different info, it is hideous - they should all be trained to fully inform their patients. After my Mirena fell out I did some research on all IUD's and bc pills and was shocked at what I found. I did find a lot more info about the IUD's and the BC pill causing abortions. For those who are against abortion, all of these IUD's cause abortions that the woman is not even aware of if a fertilized egg happens to make it through. This was explained by my doc and I did do further research on on the net. All you have to do it google "do iuds cause abortion or do bc pills cause abortion" and you will get more info on it. Here is a summary - Mirena and all bc pills have 3 mechanisms- 1) inhibiting ovulation 2)thickening the cervix mucous making it hard for sperm to travel to the egg, and 3)thinning and shriveling of the uterus to the point that it is unable or less able to facilitate the implantation of the fertilized egg. The first 2 mechanisms are contraceptive, the last is abortive. The Paraguard is only slightly different in that the copper disables the sperm, but again if one should make it past and fertilize an egg, the copper creates such a hostile environment that the egg can not attach. It does depend on your opinion on when life begins - whether it is at the moment of conception or when the fertilized egg attaches to the wall of the uterus. Only when all 3 mechanisms fail will you get pregnant, that is why they have such a high success rate of 99%. So again, google this if you want to know more because if you take any of these methods, you could potentially have an abortion and not even know it. Some Dr.'s will not even insert the IUD's for ethical reasons because they know it causes unknown abortions. You could end up having one once a month, once a year or luck out and never, but the risk is there. If you need proof of this you can call Dr. in Federal Way, WA at ****** and ask if he does the Mirena or the Paraguard and you will be told he doesn't do either for ethical reasons. If you are serious about getting more information, I can forward it to you. I urge everyone looking for a good birth control to not only look up the name of the product, but check out negative side effects and ask if it could potentially cause abortions. I am sitting on the fence to whether life begins at conception or begins when it attaches to the wall of the uterus, all I know is that I am sick of all the hormones messing me up, changing my moods, and ruing my sex drive among other things. I had my Mirena removed a month and a half ago and I feel GREAT. I am a MOM again. My kids aren't afraid of me anymore which was the worst part of the side effects. I am starting a new job this week as a nurse (I got my license 2 weeks ago) and am GLAD that the Mirena will not affect my attitude at work.

I have noticed a huge difference at home. The sex drive is still non existent but it wasn't there very much even before Mirena. I am more willing to do more and be there more often. Things are so good, that I don't plop my kids in front of the TV so I can go off to my room or the table to be online. Tomorrow, I am calling Verizon so that they can shut off our TV, Internet, and Phone services. We have cell phones, the library has computers with internet access, and we have a DVD player attached to the TV.

I had Mirena inserted Nov. 2007 after the birth of my baby girl. I went from an extremely high sex drive to NO DRIVE at all. I had unexpected brain surgery 3 weeks after my daughter was born to remove a tumor, so I thought that I wasn't ready mentally or it was all the medications I was taking, I was never informed on any of these side effects (shame on me for not checking into it more- trust me I paid for my mistake by having my sex drive abolished). Two days ago, I noticed something poking me, upon investigation - The Mirena had completely come out. I discovered this about an hour after having sex!! My husband and I are not ready for a third child so I pray that I am not pregnant. I have yet to read another story where one has actually fallen out, so it must not happen that much. I hope I get my sex drive back and make my husband feel wanted again after a year as I will not be replacing it with another Mirena, I would have never had this inserted had I known there were sexual side effects because a high sex drive or any at all is now very important to me. I am now researching Paraguard, and aside from a regular to heavy period it sounds good to me because it is hormone-free. Aside from no sex drive and it falling out, I did not have any other issues like others have had with hair loss, cramping, etc. We did have the issue of my husband feeling it during sex every once in a while because there is a limit to how short they can cut it. In the beginning I had light spotting every 3 or 4 weeks for several months and then at about 1 year, no period at all. I have had more depression than usual, but we have had a lot going on in the last year so I can not blame the Mirena for that. Aside from the sex drive issues it worked very well for me and had it not fallen out I would never have been reading all these forums and educating myself.

I wish I never had the mirena put in at all. I've had it for almost 2 years now after the birth of my third child. I let the doctors talk me out of tubal ligation. Boy am I sorry for that. It seemed ok for about a year. My periods slowed down, everything seemed kind of normal. But now I have irregular bleeding, like one woman described as old, stringy blood. My hair is SO thin I had to go out and get extensions, again, like another woman. I cannot lose weight no matter what I try, and I've always been very active and do some hard core work outs. Still, I'm not losing anything. I'm bloated. Headaches seem to be more present. I called my primary care and am making an appt for tubal ligation and removal of this horrible device. Perhaps some women like it. I cannot stand it and can't wait to have it removed. I just hope my hair grows back ok:( Good luck ladies!

Hi, I'm a 24 year old mom of one. I got the Mirena in December of 08. Which was about two weeks ago. I haven't felt the same since. No Joke I have gained 7-8lbs since then. I also haven't stopped bleeding. And a foul oder has been added to it. I'm also having some serious chest pain, Feels like heartburn. But I know its not. I recently moved from the state that I had it put in. And now have to wait till my medical kicks in. I was told that this was the best birth control out there.. But found out thats its just an abortion over and over again. I'm a Christian women and have my beliefs on that subject. I feel sick all the time. Not like being pregnant.. Just flu like. And my poor child. I don't think I have ever lashed out on her the way I have been. Can anyone explain to me why my body is changing so much so fast. I was also told that there was NO hormone in this. Its just an unsafe place for sperm to be.

okay ladies, I'm not sure what you all are experiencing since I'm not a doctor. But I will tell you that a huge amount of your symptoms can either be age related or post baby related. I have four children ages 15, 6, 5, 3.
The beginning stages of the Mirena granted are not pretty and can last for months. I was having a terrible time with my periods and was out of commission for the first three days of every cycle each month. I have had my Mirena for almost 2 years now and am going on 41. I had to wait it out for about 6 months before seeing any huge improvements. I will tell you this, over eating and NOT eating a healthy diet of fruits and veggies will aggravate bloating and mood swings. You could have these with or without the IUD. I never lost my hair unless I was 3-6 months post partum.
A diet rich in potato chips, bread, meats and cheesy pizza will show on your hair skin and nails. The typical American diet will leave even your special guy moody. As we age the expectation is that we will always feel 18 and I have had to come to grips with how my body ages and how I take care of it. A new baby whether it is your 1st or 4th will cause unwanted fatigue. I still struggle with fatigue because not everyone sleeps thru the night including my hubby so my sleep gets disrupted a lot. There are several things you can do to help your Mirena work for you and not scare you. I NEVER lose my sex drive unless I fail to exercise even a little each week and have fought back with a super charged diet. I'm not perfect at it but boy does it ever help. Sugar has a HUGE impact on your hormones and fatigue level. Limit it. Got to bed as early as you can and avoid late night TV. Don't give your precious zzz's to some silly show that won't help you be a better person any way. Get moving and add a little (or a lot) of weight training to your days- your sex drive will soar and your body will thank you. Pray for wisdom. God will help. Sometimes he uses fatigue to slow me down and focus on what is really important. Granted not everyone can handle an IUD. But if you try a little self care and be patient you might find that it works for you. I had heavy bleeding and at my age the doc said I got it just in time because from 40-50 I could expect more of the same. I am grateful for it because I felt like I was dying every time I had a period. A little fatigue is worth the benefits. Keep in mind that even your little ones get tired. They need naps and they are kids. We need rest in the afternoons too. It's okay to stay off the phone and rest a little if you can. My energy drainers are TV, negative people, talking on the phone too much, eating too much especially when I'm not really hungry, the wrong foods when I do eat, and not getting sleep or exercise. Start small and see if over time it doesn't make a big difference before you throw in the towel. Blessings to all and especially the new mommies.

i've been taking flomax for about 7 years due to neurogenic bladder. also back problems. i have had no problem with this medication, and it makes or allows me me rather to urinate very well. i have had no loss in reduction of sperm or erection. this pill is a godsend for me. my age is 41.

mirena DOES NOT prevent ovulation!! meaning you will still ovulate, but the sperm and egg cannot implant themselves which in turn will cause a miscarriage!! This is the same for all iud's, For some unknown reason docs will not tell you this, but my doctor did and strongly advises not to use iuds!! You will get pregnant! You may think your having a heavy period but really you could be passing a dead fetus! Sorry to be so blunt, please do research before you choose this method of birth control

I agree with everyones comments on here. I have had all of the side effects associated with Kenelog except for the tissue deterioration in the buttocks. However I have found I new side effect that I can only contribute to Kenelog. I am a father or a wonderful little girl who is now 7. I have stayed active my entire life and at 31 I have never been on any other medications other then kenolog for the last 7 years. My wife and I have been trying to have a baby for over two years and have been unable to. After going to the fertility specialist I have found out that I know suffer from azoospermia, which is basically that I do not have any sperm what so ever being created. I will keep you updated as I get more testing done, but I may never be able to conceive a child again because of Kenalog.

I'm 46 and been on the Mirena IUD for 5 yrs this Oct'08! It's been great for past the 1st couple of months of extreme headaches and hit-or-miss flow.

I've enjoyed 4.5 yrs. of either no period or slight bleeding each month.

I worked better than the Depo because I didn't have to go get a shot every 3 months (or whatever the procedure is) and more convenient than the Sponge!

I was able to attend Grad School, work and be a single mom w/o PMS, cramps or heavy bleeding. I very rarely used tampons---just slim maxi pads.

However, now that I'm ready to take it out sometime b4 the Oct'08 deadline I'm starting to have a lot of those annoying symptoms I experienced when I 1st got the Mirena inserted: extreme headaches, body aches, slight nausea.

I don't think I'm pregnant because my beau is "fixed" but I have to be realistic in keeping in mind that anything is possible---he may have one good sperm left and I may be in that .01% risk of pregnancy.

I plan to go to the doctor next week to find out what's happening now that my 5 yr. Mirena is about to expire.

I have been taking Flomax for 5 days. My urine flow was about the same for the first day or so, and I believe I have been getting up as many times as normal. The urge to go seems like it is less, however.

The first day, I noticed no sperm (only clear liquid) after ejaculation. this happened twice. the rest of the days were normal.

I do notice that I get dizzy sometimes after standing and feel like I have sortness of breath.

I took saw palmetto for a year and it is worthless (one pill per day), as my doctor told me it would be..

My sexual activity has deteriorate after taking Levoxyl. There has been data posted on the internet that negative fertility impact is a side effect of Levoxyl. I have not taken other medication since I noticed the change is the sperm amount, sexual duration, and erectile loss quickly during sexual intercourse. I am not sure if this is because of Levoxyl or age, but I am 36 years old and excercise once in a while. I am going to excercise more often, but am not sure if this will change the sexual dysfunctions I am experiencing. Be careful and talk to your doctor if you take Levoxyl.

I have been taking Levoxyl for several years now. I am not taking other medications for the last several years that I have not taken before Levoxyl. I have noticed less sperm produced and lower sexual endurance during sexual intercourse. Although my free testosterone appears in the normal range and my sperm seems to be fertile, I have concerns that Levoxyl may impact my sexual activity and potentially impact my reproduction capabilties in the future.

im 25y/o pretty athletic guy (always exercising and lifting weights) but turned out to have slightly high blood pressure (doc said prolly from drinking energy drinks every day for 7 years) anyways i was prescribed 12.5mg tablets of lisinopril and my first side effects were deep beating heart.. like I can feel it at times just out of no where.. light headedness at times, stomach cramping and most importantly I got retograde ejactulation (which means sperm goes into bladder instead of out through penis). Im also not interested in sexual activity anymore... Its horrible to think I might have to take this medicine for ever.. I dont know im thinking maybee not takin it would give me a better way of life than living with these side effects.. Im not even myself anymore, im all calm, slowed reflexes.. People are joking around and im like drugged up just listening not really joining into conversations... this is stupid that this medicine aimed to help us seems to actually hurt us as well.. I cut my pills in half with a pill cutter in hopes maybee the lower dosage will net me less side effects and still healthy BP.. we will see..

Hello Everyone! I am so happy that I found this site. I was considering getting off yasmin, for about 2 months, but my fiance begged me not to. I used to have a very high metabolism. I was actually struggling to maintain my weight, but now, after gaining about 25 pounds over the course of 2 years, I decided that it could be related to Yasmin. I was happy with my new curves, but sadly, they just keep growing. I have also been prone to depression, which I link to my wonder pill. I have been off for about 2 weeks and have never felt better. I've read that many of you are having problems with your heart beats, and honestly, it scares me to death. I've experience leg cramps, which subsided after about 1 1/2 years on the pill, weight gain, increased acne, and rapid mood swings, which doubled during the week leading to my period. I also used to get pains during that week, after sexual intercourse, that is when I was in the mood, which was never. As long as I didn't climax, I would have no pain, but who wants to have sex when you are huddled over in pain, on the toilet, and throwing up. It felt like I was in labor. I hated having sex. Every time I enjoyed it, I was punished, by my own body. I told my OB/GYN about this and he said that he had never heard of that reaction during intercourse. He said that I could be allergic to my fiance's sperm. What is that? It must have been my sperm, because he had no issues climaxing. I thought that there was something mentally wrong with me, but I guess not, right? And, as an addition to my problems, as if there was not enough, I went to my Gynecologist about a year after I started takin Yasmin, and I was surprised to to find that I had, within 1 year of a healthy pap, been diagnosed with cervical displasia, which was only 1 stage away from full blown cervical cancer, yeah for me! I have never had any issues with my paps. I have a 5 year old daughter and was on a low dose hormone pill, until I stopped nursing. I had break through bledding, so they recommended Yasim, because, as I understaood, it was the Fort Knox, of all BC's. Funny, Right? 2 weeks post yasmin, I felt an increase in my libido, and I fell less puffy, if you know what I mean. I know that I am probably missing something, but these are the most detrimental issues. If anyone has had an issue with pain and nausea related to climaxing, please let me know, and please, everyone reading this, stay away from Yasmin. I have a friend that just starting taking it, and I plan on having her read all of the posts on this site, so keep them coming.

I have a side effect of a sexual nature. It is very uncomfortable when having sex and my husbands sperm burns me. My doctor said that he didn't think that it was the cause but I know when I lower the dose or get off it stops. Also my Iron level has drop.

Not sure, but strong suspicion. I am 33 yrs old, have been on singulair for five years and found out last year that the majority of my sperm are either dead or close to it..
I don't know if singulair is the cause but I have heard that it affects the motility of the sperm. Luckily, with the help of ivf, my wife and I were able to conceive..this drug was prescribed to me for hives and now that i am on it I can't seem to get off. Every time I stop taking it, I feel like I can't breathe and that my chest is closing up. I have never had allergies or asthma, but now it seems I am dependent on this drug..
If anyone has heard or read anything about the effects of singulair on reproduction, please post it here to let me and others know...thanks...

After the 3rd 500ml dose of this med. I felt like it was all over for me. I had just finished my period about two weeks before taking, but after taking Levaquin I was BLEEDING all over the place. I was so scared, the Blood was bright with cloggy lumps, my stomach felt as if it was about to fall out (I couldn't bare the Pain. I may have gotten pregnant while on the 2nd dose. If so did it damage the egg or sperm, will it affect the unborn born child?
If you are on this med. Please, PLEASE STOP!!!!

well i took doxyclcline becouse the doctor told me my sperm have some in fection, as matter of fact i i never go to see any whore, plz tell me, asctally iam going to have artifical insemination, so my wife can have a child, i dont understand why i should take doxyclcline. i have to take for 3 wks,plz advice me
