Was on Prednisone for 11 days for an injury to my neck. I knew nothing about the drug except what my doctor told me that it would reduce inflammation in my neck and help with pain.

Well, it did nothing for the injury and pain in my neck. BUT.... I had HORRIBLE menstrual cramps and got my period 8 days early. I've had my period for 9 days now AND terrible pain in my upper left leg. I thought the pain was related to my leg and as the days went by I realized it was in my left hip! It's so bad I can't lift my leg without extreme pain. I KNOW IT'S FROM this awful drug.

I've been off of it for 4 days and the pain is still with me. I called my family dr. and was told Prednisone doesn't do that. BULL!! The paperwork I got with it from the pharmacy show "Changes in menstrual periods" "muscle/joint pain" "bone pain".

I wish I knew this BEFORE I ever took it.

Does anyone know if these symptoms and problems will go away after stopping it? I called the pharmacy and was told it will take 2-3 weeks for it to get out of my system!!

Has anyone had problems that eventually went away after stopping the drug?

Thanks and I hope everyone else is okay soon! This drug should be off the market. I received no help for my neck pain at all!!

Okay, you might think I was the THE spokesperson for Mirena when I previously posted. What I was trying to convey was that we can have similar symptoms even without the IUD if our eating habits and lifestyle are not healthy and if we have our hands full with raising little ones. I didn't want to mislead anyone into thinking that I was symptom free myself. I had many, many good days of feeling great once the 6 month of unpredictable spotting/bleeding was over. However, I have a laundry list of things that were not right and recently had the Mirena removed. The things I'm reading on the site are pretty right on: Fatigue, no to little sex drive, weight gain (expect 7-10 pounds), pain at times during sex, did I mention FATIGUE?, bloated (looking 4-5 months prego at times). After 2 years, I had one whole week of cramping no period and was starting to get sharp pains. I had had enough and had it removed. I need to say that I have never felt better. I had a big period the moment it was removed. I think it's bogus that it thins the lining of the uterus. If that were true, I would not have had a period for a while. It was just the opposite. I had a real heavy one. But boy was it a relief. I don't know what to expect in the coming months with PMS and so forth. I am banking on eating right and exercise and limiting caffeine, sugar and any thing that would affect my emotions and weight.
I'll post again later and let everyone know how the weight loss is going. I did lose 3 pounds after a couple of days. Whew! I had gained 10 with it in the first year. Blessings to all! John 3:16

To jules777(for the last time)
Time to stop the personal attacks on both sides
Anyway, I hope for u, Jules, that everything goes well for u, no matter whick way u choose to get better. Pred. or not, life is too short to argue. No, I am not the spokesperson here, just one who has gone thru such an ordeal that I sometimes overstep someone . I feel for everyone who is on pred. or coming off of it, like I am. I apologize to u , jules. I don't want to visit "your planet" Just hope everyone can see what a sensitive issue pred. is. We really need to be educated on the dangers, and yes, benefits of pred. Being off it now is worse than being on it. The side effects are slowing down in some areas and not in others. I have to wait this out. God Bless Everyone who reads this website.

Guest, #12402 says;
"Although jules, sounds like u need to go back to the other planet u were on before We r not your friends"

Are you the spokesperson here????
Your the very reason I corrected my typo. Friends? No thank you. I'm far from being an conformist and for your personal benefit and pleasure, I won't be back.
Although Guest #12402, you are welcome to visit 'my planet' anytime.

One final note here on Guest 12402's planet:

Again, I apologize to everyone here. It was never my intention to criticize, insult, or come across uncompassionate. I certainly never expected to envoke an personal attack such as the one happening now.
Sincere best wishes to everyone. I hope you find relief from your suffering however it might be.

For bronchitis27: Your post didn't go unnoticed.
Best wishes!!! I'm a huge advocate for natural medical resources and homeopathy. We use it as a complimentary approach with all our standard medical therapy's.
