Need anyone say anymore!!! I am baffled at the comments made and relieved I felt the need to research this. My daughter is 4 years old and was prescribed Singulair a year ago for allergies and chronic respiratory problems due to undiagnosed (for a month) RSV at 6 mos. old. I put her on it (age 3) and something just wasn't right, cranky, crying, moody when normally she was not that way, so I took her off of it. 7 days ago she was having trouble breathing and at our urgent care visit the Doctor told us to start taking the Singulair again. I explained to him then that I felt it made her moody and depressed. He told me it doesn't take effect for at least a month. Stupid me, the Doctor knows better right?! WRONG!!!! Who knows our children better than we do?! She has taken 5 pills and I have a child that is all of the sudden having nightmares, acid reflux, DEPRESSION, crying spouts that she can't stop. WARNING....do not give your child this medicine...I am sick I gave it to her again and grateful it has only been a week. Hopefully these symptoms will disappear quickly.

I have been having the same problems for about two months. Heart palpitations, chest pain, left arm numbness, spouts of rapid heart beat (up to 150 beats a minute) while laying in bed. Other things that I have started putting with this is I broke out in hives several months ago, I had yeast infections every month for a year, I have had dark hair pop up on my face that was never there before. I have been to the ER many times, I have had an EKG, the whole blood work done, chest x-ray, stress test, and a holter monitor. They did catch PVCs and a few other irregular heat beats on the monitor and EKG but no one seems concerned about. I have been at my wits in and like you felt like a horrible mom and wife. Not hardly any to function. I finally thought to look up IUD and heart palpitations and BOOM....there was pages and pages of women talking about this. I am relieved in some ways but still not convinced! I just don't know if it could actually cause PVCs or other irregular heart beats but I guess it could. I hope this was the problem. I got the IUD out last Friday and I seem to feel a little better each day, although last night I did have another attack of racing heart-147 bpm. I'm 27 years old, with not family history of heart problems, I am thin, I have low resting pulse and have always had low blood pressure. I guess the IUD makes more sense than a heart problem. It's just very scary when you have two small children at home and you're afraid you might not wake up the next day! I have never been a fearful person, I am very laid back so when the docs kept throwing the anxiety and stress thing at me, it REALLY didn't make sense! I have been under way more stress several years ago than I am now and this has never happened. I have had the IUD for two years. I have researched hormone imbalance and it does add up to the same. I think it's possible for the IUD to malfunction and instead of squirting out a small amount of the hormone daily it could be giving way to much which gives us a hormone imbalance. Let me know how you are doing and if your symptoms have gotten better with time and thanks for sharing your story.

After a month of being on the NR I have noticed crazy mood swings, spouts of crying at the drop of a hat and nausea, big time. I thought this was because I was new to the birth control. Oh no, now due for my second month dose, about 8 hours after insertion, I got horribly sick (vomiting, cramping, cold sweat). I took it out. I am not putting it back in.

Depo, although I gained weight, was better than this.

Hi Ladies,

I was so grateful to find this posting site last night. I was searching for side effects for I began to realize that my feelings and other things may have Yasmin to blame.

Last night as I was brushing my teeth, I took a good look at my hair in the mirror and noticed that something just hasn't been right the past several months with it. I used to have so much thick hair that I couldn't pull my sides back in a barrett. Now it's SO simple, it's scary! When I take a bath and wash my hair, it's like I can make a wig out of the hair collected in the water floating around me. Also, I have to clean my white bathroom tile floor from the stray hairs every day!

Another big side effect I've had is off-and-on spouts of depression & random negative thoughts. Also, I've had a couple of panic attacks but never went to the doctor for them. I've had loss of breath, sharp, unusual chest pains, feelings of high anxiety for no reason, etc.

My main concern is - the hair loss and mental instability - will they be "stabalized" once I'm off the pill for several months, or has this medication become a life-long trigger of imbalanced hormones?!
