Was given iv levaquin in hospital for pneumonia (sat night). Oral the next day. The following day (monday) all the joints in my body started to ache. Hard to move. Especially ankle. Dr said stop antibiotic. Ankle and joints sore all week. Friday I had a huge pop in my ankle. Large bruise and swelling. Turned out to be a second degree sprain with ruptured blood vessel. Caused by levoguin. It has been 13 days since the pop, ankle still popping, swelling will not go down. Does anyone know how long this drug lasts in your body?

I was taking lisinopril for about a month until the side effects hit me. I woke up at 430am with severe pain in my ankle. I went to the hospital and they told me is was a sprain. The pain continued for another day ..even got worse. I finally went to my foot doctor as soon as a could. He examined me and told me it was the gout. The next thing he asked me if I was taking b\p medication.I told him yes and I have never taken it again and my blood pressure has lowered. I exercise and diet to keep it down

I have taken Ovcon for the past year. I do not smoke or drink. I have normal blood pressure, cholesterol. I am 27 years old. I do have a low iron count. About three to four weeks ago I woke up with a Charly horse in my calf. The pain slowly grew until I was limping. I went to ER and they said it was probally a sprain. A week later the pain was so bad I was could barely walk. I went again into the ER and they found a blood clot (deep vein thrombosis) in my thigh. Dr's said it is possible the pill is related since I had no pre-existing factors. The only birth control I will ever use again is condoms.

I had a stubborn sinus infection and received a prescription for Levaquin after two other antibiotics failed. In my doctor's defense, she used it as a 3rd line defense.
Still, after taking 7 days of a a 10-day, 500 mg course, I woke up with severe pain in my left ankle, as if I had turned it and sprained it playing basketball or soccer or something. The topside of my foot just under the ankle was swollen. I could hardly walk from the pain. I also had a duller, non-specific pain in my lower back. I had not been particularly active for about a week, so I could not imagine what was wrong.
Because of the lingering sinus infection, I decided to see the doctor, who identified the possibility that Levaquin might have caused the pain. He recommended I stop taking the Levaquin and treat the ankle like a sprain. He also said that if the pain continued for more than a few days, I should get an MRI to investigate the possibility of tendon or ligament damage.
This is the most bizarre medical thing that has ever happened to me. I usually investigate the drugs I am prescribed, but I could not have imagined the prevalence of side effects to Levaquin. The main web sites just include "joint pain" as a possible side effect, but that doesn't come close to describing what has happened to me. I just hope the symptoms do not linger as they have for so many others.

I took ortho-tricycline low for 6 years with no problems whatsoever. At 18 my doctor switched me to Yasmin, by my 28th day on Yasmin I had a intense dull pain in my left hip/groin area and the of my knee and calf area. After two weeks of putting it off as a sprain, it had only gotten worse, my entire left leg was swollen to about twice the normal size and had purplish discoloration and I was could barely walk or sit. I was taken to the ER where they diagnosed me with a DVT the size of a softball in my left thigh. I spent two weeks in the hospital on narcotic painkillers and IV Coumadin before they would let me go home. I spent an additional 6 weeks at home on light duty and bed rest. I stayed on Coumadin for a year before it almost killed me as well. Today I am 23 years old and still feel the effects of the clot I had 5 years ago. My leg a calf are still swollen, though not nearly as bad and anytime I'm on my feet or have to sit in a chair all day I have to deal with moderate pain. I wasn't on Yasmin on Yasmin long enough to experience any other side effects but I would strongly advise you do your research before taking this medication.
