I was prescribed Levaquin for a bacterial infection with symptoms of coughing and wheezing. I had never heard of it so I looked up some info on the internet. I am rarely effected by medications so I didn't pay much attention to the warning to stay out of the sun. I went to the coast for vacation and wanted to come back with a tan. The only side effects that I have noticed from Levaquin is that my skin turned really red instead of tan but it doesn't feel burnt. As far as the other side effects listed, I haven't noticed any.

I'm so glad to have come across this site! I've been feeling very weird sensations in my hands, feets and lips. I too have had the "pins and needles" feeling along with the "my foot fell asleep feeling, but it's not really asleep" ... Also I've been getting the same tingle in my lower lip. I was really glad to see someone said it felt like rain. Multiple times I've asked "are we getting wet?" I felt a misting feeling on my hands and cheeks. This is one weird medicine! I too have felt sick many times and even vomitted once. The best thing I found was to eat at least a little something before taking the pill rather then during or after. Also, have severe sun burn on fingers and toes even though I used 45 sun block. I'll agree stay out of the sun!

My gynocologist had to put me on Yaz because I had had a Kenalog Injection for a slipped disk and after being injected with Kenalog I kept having menstrual periods....4 in a month a half! So she gave me Yaz, it seems to work so far, but this drug gives me side effects too. Has anyone experienced extreme tiredness? I seem to be tired non-stop even after having a lot of sleep. This wasn't listed as side effect on my prescription, but I thought this may be causing it. Since I started taking this 3 weeks ago I began to feel real depressed and angry for no reason at all. I just get these weird bouts of depression.

I had a severe allergic reaction to a Sulfa drug that I was taking to prevent infection . I had a skin cancer removed from my nose. As a precaution I was given Sulfa. I became very ill. I ran a high fever ( 103) . The Doctor said it was not from the Sulfa drug. Advised to go to Primary Care Dr to check for a Virus ( flu) . I ended up in the Emergencey Room at the Hospital the same day . By then I had broken out in a red rash all over my body. They immediateky asked if I was on Sulfa drug. I was given a steroid shot for the rash & tylenol for fever ;also prescription for Methylpred. It worked great. Now, after 2 months, I believe I am having side effects from the Methylpred. The instructions were to stay out of the sun whild taking Methylpred and for a while after the 6 days. It has been 2 months . When I get in the sun I break out in a rash that feels, looks & acts like a sunburn. I even peeled. I am 78 yrs old. I do not normally take drugs, so I had no idea I would be allergic to anything. The Pharmacy Dr. does not believe this side effect could last 2 months. What do you think? Ed

GET MEDICAL HELP if you have a rash with this drug, it could be a severe allergic reaction. don't wait.

also

#2--
read the label on yr prescription bottle, it should say STAY OUT OF THE SUN!!! You are hyper-sensitive to sunlight/ artificial UV/ sunlamps while taking it.

do a internet search for: doxycycline "side effects"
seriously, there are specific instructions regarding these side effects. be sure to read instructions & listen to yr doctor/ pharmacist with any medication.

I was just given 750 mg 5 day pack of Levaquin over a week ago for acute bacterial sinusitis. I have have never taken this antibiotic before and since I am allergic to penicillin, the Dr. (who I have never met before) felt that it was a good option. Let me say that I am a physically fit woman with 3 small children and exercise everyday. I fortunately enjoy good health and rarely complain about anything.
Once I began taking this medication, I could barely function. The fatigue was incredible and I suffered from dizziness. The Dr. failed to tell me to stay out of the sun, and as a result I have blisters all over my legs due to the photosensitivity from the drug. I also had neck and jaw pain and still have knee pain. I do feel much better know, but still suffer from slight dizziness and fatigue. I would never take this medication again, and I hope that there will be no long term effects from such a short period of time. By the way, my Primary care physician who was not available the day I needed the antibiotics saw me for a follow up last week and told me that I am entirely too tiny for this drug, and it is generally prescribed to grown men. She also felt that all of my aches and pains were from a direct result of the Levaquin.

Yup, just as they say, stay out of the sun. I burn (and tan) much faster since I began taking Mobic one year ago. So much for going swimming without plastering myself with pore-clogging sunscreen! I was told my back pain would be cured, but it's sure hangin' on. It doesn't seem to go away. I'm doing the physical therapy exercises, too. (I don't have arhtritis, but had an injury in 1995 which has caused back pain since then.)
