I've been on and off of Yasmin for about a year now. It seems like every time I am on it and I have sex I develop irritation. I went to my OBGYN because I was scared out of my mind. I took every STD test you could think of and he finally told me it looked like I was having rough sex. I told him that my sex has not changed at all. I did an experiment and got off of it for a few months and didn't have any problems down there while I was off of it...but as soon as I got back on it I develop irritation after having sex. I also notice that my urine smells very different and I am thirsty all the time. I can never get enough water. I thought maybe this pill was causing me to have UTI's. Has anyone else had these problems?

All I can say is thank you ladies for posting all of this. I was on Nuva ring for almost 2 years. my boyfriend complained I was getting worse and worse in terms of my anger and mood swings. He called me a monster. Then days after my 20th birthday I experienced lots of itchiness and pain after sex so I thought it was a yeast infection. When I did not respond to over the counter meds I went to the hospital to get testing for STDS. When all the test came back negative I went back to my regular doctor two weeks later. Again, I was tested and a month later tested again. No one could figure out why I was having burning and itchiness with no other symptoms and all my STD test negative. Finally I gave up the ring and have been symptom free now for nearly 6 months. To this day the situation plagued me because the doctor swore I couldn't experience this from the Nuva ring. I spent a whole summer in pain because of this. Now I am birth control free but my boyfriend of three years and I would love to add to our family.

Wow! I'm glad I found this website. I've been on BC pills for the last 8yrs I started with Ortho but then changed to Yasmin bcause I was having problem on Othro. I've been on Yasmin for about 5yrs and since then I have had deppression, Mood swings etc. and never knew why. I've taken antidepressints but didn't like the way the made me feel so I stoped. Now I've just been dealing with it on my own. Anyway I now have been back and forth to the doctors and the are trying to figure out why i have pain deep in the vagina when inserting a tampon or having sex. They have given me and ultra sound, blood test, STD test, etc. and they still can't figure out why. Can anyone tell me if this might be because of Yasmin? Also, does anyone know the Side effects of taking BC for a Many years? Like, if it mess's you up so much that you can have kids? After reading this website I'm thinking of getting of BC for good.
Thank you.........

Wow...this is the first birth control that I've had since i've been out of high school.I've been on the ring for about 13 months. I really that my boyfriend had given me an STD, because of everything that was going on. I have NO SEX DRIVE AT ALL!! It hurt to have sex and to have a period. Headaches all the time, EXTREME dryness during sex, especially after i had an orgasm. And would walk around feeling no moisture down there at all. So after my STD test came back clear, that's when i realized it was the ring. After thinking about it now...none of these problems started until about 3 months after i started this BC. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS BIRTH CONTROL!!!!! IT MAY SEEM FINE AT FIRST BUT TRUST ME, THE SIDE EFFECTS WILL COME AND IT WILL NOT BE PRETTY!! I'm currently inquiring about a another form of birth control...
