My six year old son has been taking Singulair for almost three years for asthma and allergies. We have had such a hard time with him and it all started around the time he was prescribed this drug. He became very irritable, angry, hard to satisfy and generally unhappy. Now that he is six, the last two years have been the absolute worst with him saying he hates himself and just wants to die. He has stomach pain all the time and has had alternating daily diarrhea for over a year. Our pediatrician has done all sorts of tests and has referred us to a specialist. He has bad dreams every night and also complains of leg pain. He has been so depressed lately that he does not even want to go out and play after school and on weekends (not like him at all) and the teacher calls me several times a week to pick him up early because of stomach pain. I am so upset to think all this has been caused by this drug and he has suffered because of it! He also takes Zyrtec, as do all three of my sons, but the older two do not have asthma, just allergies. I gave him his last dose night before last because I just found out about the Singulair investigation. If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated.

I started taking Singulair for moderate to severe nasal allergies about 2 to 3 weeks ago. I found this site because I googled "Singulair" and "dreams." For the past week or so, I've been having some of the most bizaare dreams I've ever had. I wouldn't really call them nightmares, though. Also, last night, I felt odd all night, couldn't sleep well - atea half a bagel in the middle of the night, reminding myself to really chew and swallow (since I was half a sleep) so I wouldn't choke- felt like I'd taken Sudafed or a lot of caffeine or some amphetamine or other mind-altering drug...or like I was in the middle of a high fever and not myself....

So far, I haven't seen any effect with the allergies, but I've heard it could take a month. I take Zyrtec daily, but it makes me drowsy, so I was looking for something else. Did the shots for years and years...last time was probably 5 or 6 years ago. Probably helped, but now I need antihistamine every day again...The nasal steroid sprays make my nose bleed...

I think all these central nervous system affects mentioned on this site are really scary....Anything that messes with my head like that..I don't want...Thanks for posting, everyone.

all the people closely examining their symptoms and trying to figure the cause just check if they have used any setroid sprays for their nose(allergic rhintis)/cause an inhaled spray causes much greater side effects than a inhaled advair puff.its ironical that docs say advair doesnt enter ur system but what wud they say when they prescribe steroid sprays for nasal allergies?ok i am happy that i did find a way out of steroids and steroid side effects.i am using homeopath and its been 8 months now/i am not reacting to dust at all/the remed for dust allergy is bromine 1M in homeopahty/to the disbeleivers just tr the remedy/of course one shud alwas be under expert guidance/but there r no side effects here.
