LADIES.... PLEASE HELP!!!

I had my Mirena removed 6 weeks ago. Unlike most, I didn't bleed right away. It took me 3 weeks before I bleed and it wasn't heavy. I felt better knowing it was out of me but still was EXTREMELY TIRED, brain fogged, depressed. (The only side effects which have diminished were the irritability, greasy hair/skin, and acne.)

It's now been 6 weeks since it was removed and for the past 2 weeks I've been experiencing horrific anxiety and panic attacks. I'm afraid to leave the house... can't focus. Wake up anxious. Don't want to go anywhere or do anything. I'm also depressed about this. I'm still very very very tired all the time. AND THE MENSTRUAL MIGRAINES ARE STILL HERE.

IS THIS ANXIETY THE "CRASH"??? Can it happen so late? My body seems to be "behind" the norm by about 3 weeks. So really this is about the 2-3 week mark past my first withdrawal bleed.

I'M SOOOOOOOOO SCARED

My husband is a 64 year old relatively healthy man. His family doctor prescribed 20 mg. Lisinopril and 40 mg. Pravastatin to lower his blood pressure and cholesterol. He began taking both drugs on March 17, 2009 and since then has had nothing but problems. Dry hacking cough, lack of appetite, disorientation, dizziness, joint pain, leg cramps, stomach bloating and diarrhea, metallic taste in his mouth, sweating, numbness and tingling in his fingers, EXTREME fatigue (sleeping 18-20 hours a day), sore throat and swollen glands, frequent urination, itching rash on his forearms and head and just about every other bad symptom you can think of. Today I am going with him to his doctor to let her know that I took him off both drugs April 15th because I firmly believe they are toxic to his system. To date, there has been little improvement in his health, and I am wondering how long it will take for these medications to clear out of his system. In my opinion, Lisinopril is a VERY DANGEROUS DRUG and should be removed from the market. I am so angry that my energetic husband has been reduced to a state of the walking comatose. He cannot perform the simplest task without needing to rest or sleep. We can lower his cholesterol with diet and exercise, but now I'm wondering what we are going to do about his high blood pressure. It scares me to even think about adding another drug to his system without knowing what the consequences are going to be. Everything I have read in the blogs on his website indicate to me that someone is making a lot of money making people sicker. The question I'm going to ask my husband's doctor this morning is "would you give this drug to a member of your family" knowing the devastating side effects"? Then I'm going to tell her that I hope her malpractice insurance is paid up because if anything more happens to my husband, I'm going to own everything she has. And one more thing, after I hear what her response to my husband's symptoms is, I'm going to find another family doctor who takes a more conservative approach to the matter of high blood pressure and cholesterol.

I had my mirena inserted in July 2007, so we're working on two years. At first, I noticed some sharp pains in my abdomen. When i asked my doctor about it, he told me it could not be related to the mirena and I should try prilosec. I probably had indigestion. I thought...oh, ok. If you say so! But it didn't go away until about 2 months later.

I could list all the same things as everyone else - hair loss, sore breasts, metal taste in mouth, cravings of food just like when I was pregnant, omg, the weight gain and stomach bloating is what kills me the most. I seriously still look pregnant and I didn't even think much about it until I looked at photos of myself post-baby, but pre-mirena. I looked SO much thinner and so much better rested. I seriously don't even look like myself.

I complained to my doctor last May about being super anxious and having trouble sleeping. He prescribed Lexapro for me and told me I probably had some left over baby blues. I took Lexapro until Christmas of this year when I one day just decided not to refill the prescription. I just don't feel like me. The lexapro made me cloudy and I didn't feel anything. I couldn't cry. I'm a TOTAL SAP and I couldn't cry! I couldn't feel anything. So, I took myself off it, which was no picnic in the park. Dizzy beyond belief.

It's been tough because even my husband seems to think this all coincides with becoming a mom and that is what changed me. But, I don't buy it. I love being a mom. I am good at being a mom. I have no anxiety about being a mom and so on. My body is screaming at me to change my hhabits. I've increased exercise, gained weight. I can't stop eating....and I eeat crap.

OK, enough from me. I'm getting this thing out next Monday and I don't intend to tell the doctor why. I am going to suggest I may like to get pregnant again as my reason - because I know he'll honor that reason and take it out. I plan on taking a 6 month rest from inserting any kind of chemicals into my system and seeing what happens. At that point, if my body has changed and gone back to some normalcy, I will probably go back on the pill. (I just didn't want to go back on it after my child because I got pregnant on the pill in the first place!)

I got my Mirena about 1 and a half years ago and the thought of no period and limited side effects was what drew me to this option. Little did I know that I would be posting a message on a board like this to say thank you to all the women who have posted on here previously because this lets me know that I am not crazy and I am not the only one. I got my Mirena inserted in June of 2008 and at first it was okay and then the strange fuzzy headaches started about 1 month ago. My joints ache all the time and at 30 I should not feel 130. I have 2 children and need to be able to be a mom. More recently the mood swings and the lack of sleeping through the night started. I have little to no sex drive and am getting a period every 2 weeks for the last 3 months now. I called my OB/GYN and the response was that the doctor was not concerned with this. I have had headaches, anxiety, joint pain, sleep disturbance, stomach bloating and mood swings. I read the other postings and made my appointment to have the Mirena removed.

Hi All

I've been on Yasmin for a year. At first, it’s fine until there’s some side effect such as emotionally, leg cramp, headaches, breathless, chest pain, etc. since July ’08. Had stopped taking Yasmin on end Aug ’08. Since stopping it, I feel much better emotionally but was feeling so sick every day as had gained about 9 Lbs, stomach bloating, indigestion, abdominal pain, headaches, water retention (swelling on my finger & legs), having acne on my face, skin become very dry & skin allergy and the worst is that I’m losing lots of hair everyday (about 1/4 of my hair in the past few months and it’s still dropping & some portion already bald).
Could anyone give some advice how to get my hair back to normal through their experience?

Thanks

I ,too, have been taken Lisinopril(25mg) with Atenolol once a day for the past 11/2 years. I don't know if anyone has had a problem with hair loss, and would like to hear from someone who has had the same problem.

I started taking Lisinopril last March, and my monthly cycle went from a normal cycle to a debilitating three day pain fest.
The first month I had a uterine cramp like comparable to labor that lasts for three straight days. The second month I added a sharp pain in my stomach that compared to a severe food poisoning episode but the only symptom was the pain.

This continued through June, when I asked my physician to switch me to a different medication although he did not think the side effects I was describing was related to the Lisinopril. The next month the uterine cramp was less severe but I also was treating with Midol which may have been the reason.

Last month, at my six month check my blood pressure was still not where my doctor want to see it, so he put me back on Lisinopril and kept me on the Hydrochlorothiazide, now I am on two medications!

After reading this site, it occurs to me that my shoulder where I had surgery two years has also been acting up the last six months as well. I have been doing PT again after the pain increased and I asked my surgeon what to do. He made not connection to the medication I am taking as a possible source.

The only other thing is I have lost some weight, with relative easy (not usual for me). Which I had attributed to a change of eating pattern due to my new work schedule.

All things to consider now that I have read this website.

Thanks to all who share, this is the best way to understand that everyone does react differently and you have really pay attention to what is going on with your own body when you are taking any medication.

Well it's now 8 days since I had Mirena removed and I am feeling so much better. My knees no longer ache when i'm going up and down stairs, my breasts are no longer hurting and swollen, I don't have that sharp pain where the iud was located any more, my stomach bloating has gone down and so far during the week i've lost 3lbs in weight which is giving me the incentive to stick to my diet. The only thing that worries me at the moment is that I have been bleeding now for 7 days and it looks like I'm not finished yet. Does anyone else have this experience and how long did it last? I really wish i'd had it removed months ago!!

I had my Mirena device inserted in June 2008. It is now September (3 months later) & I am experiencing a few of the side effects as other users here have indicated.

Insertion was extremely painful & I had to rest in the doctor's office for about 45 min before I could go home. Really painful periods. Month 1 lasted over 2 weeks. I had to get pain pills from doctor because the cramps were so bad & were waking me up at night. The headaches started about a month or so ago, thought it was allergies but now I'm not so sure. My throat has been tightening with the headaches & no one has mentioned this particular side effect. One person mentioned dry throat. I feel as if I cannot swallow.

I definitely have stomach bloating, but no hair loss or decreased sex drive. I do have discharge everyday, not much but it is smelly & embarrassing. Sometimes I wear tampons a few days after my period has disappeared because I can smell myself. The guy I am dating won't go down on me, because we both know something is up. I was never this way before. Now the headaches are scaring me & so is this site.

I have just gone back onto Yasmin after an absolutely horrifying experience trying to come off it.

I have taken Yasmin for 3 years with minimal problems. My skin was fantastic - never a blemish. I actually LOST weight while on it and went up a up a breast cup size. I got lighter periods which was a godsend. I did get a few problems though - gas and stomach bloating as well as headaches sometimes shortly after taking it and occasionally break-through bleeding. But for me the pros outweighed the cons.

I came off it recently as I'm no longer in a long term relatonship and it was just awfull. My skin broke out, I got very oily hair and skin and felt like I was going through puberty again. The worst problem was that in just 3 weeks I blew up like a baloon. I literally stacked on weight every day and my family all made suggestive comments like "been enjoying the cake lately?" I was so angry since I'm such a healthy eater and excersize every single day!!!!! I have never had a problem wth my weight before and the only change I made in my lifestyle was coming of Yasmin. I was so upset with my appearance I have actually gone back on the Yasmin. However its ridiculus to stay on it for beauty's sake.

Has anyone ever experiecend this before??? If so what did you do????

I am very thankful that I followed my instincts to go to this website. I have had so many different side effects from the Mirena but, I did not put them all together until today. I am a mother of four children and was at a birthday party when another mother asked me what was I using for birth control. I responded to her and told her that I was using the "Mirena". She went on to tell me that she herself was once using "Mirena" but after losing almost all her hair she got off of it.

So tonight I can relate to many of you with the symptoms of Mood Changes, Tiredness, ******Hair Loss*****, Stomach Bloating, Heart Palpatations, Weight Loss, Headaches, depression, acne, *****Memory Loss*****. And, of course these symptoms are not symptoms that you will see if you do research on the Mireana as I myself have done. This week I am calling my Doctor to have this removed. One positive did come from this (I HAVE NOT GOTTEN PREGNANT) but I am ready to be back to normal with my body again. As another mom stated my husband needs his wife back and my children need their mommy back.

Thank You

I had Mirena for almost 2 years now... I loved it at first . I Thought it was the best contraceptive ever...About a year or so I started feeling some weird pain...Abdominal pain, Pain in my legs, Skin probleme , Pelvic, sever burping, stomach bloating and later I've being haing some severe chest pain! I went to the emergency room...Everything were ok they said. I never thought it was Mirena. I feel so bad , so weird . I even think sometimes that I'm going to die! Those feelings are weird believe me...I have all the Bodies pain in this world. I'm so scared. My hubby think i'm exagerating but I 'm not . I don't feel good! I wanted to have an appointment and have a general check up...And I just found this posting googling!
I'm kind of relief to see that Mirena might be the cause of these feelings...I will have it removed ASAP. I hope it does not cause any severe damage in my body . I hope I will be Ok . I 'm so scared because I have this going on for so long . ...

I have been taking Lisinopril/HCTZ now for approximately one month. Since then I have had several side effects very similar to those I have read on this website. Thank goodness my husband decided to check this drug out because I have not been myself lately.

First of all, I have been experiencing sporadic leg pain with the sensation of getting cramps on my left calf that have kept me up at night. I have not been able to get a good night's sleep because of it. This started about 1 1/2 weeks ago. I didn't understand why my leg was bothering me so much until I finally went to the doctor and he told me it was a side effect from the Lisinopril/HCTZ drug I was taking. He told me that the drug was a diuretic that acts like a water pill. It makes the kidneys work harder to get rid of the excess water in our body. When that happens, we lose minerals that cause the leg cramping. He suggested that I buy over the counter vitamins that had a lot of calcium and magnesium in it, as well as increase my levels of potassium. So, any of you that are having this problem, it is a side effect of this pill.

Other side effects that I have experienced are: stomach bloating and gas. Yesterday, my stomach bloated up so much I looked like I was six months pregnant carrying triplets! I have never looked this way before and it really depressed me. I looked absolutely awful! Furthermore, I noticed I am beginning to gain weight and inches. Although I am overweight, I was not putting on any weight or inches at all. I have been maintaining my same weight or less for years. Yet, since I have been on the drug for about one month, I have noticed the weight gain and my clothes are fitting tighter all over.

Finally, I have been more irritable and feel run down. Probably from the lack of sleep from the leg pain at night; but also from the hot flashes I have been experiencing within the last week or so. Although I am 50 years old, I have not experienced any hot flashes until now. They are so bad, I feel like I'm burning up inside. I have to open up the window or turn on the fan at night although it is cold in the room. This is also a new symptom I have never had before.

After reading other people's side effects on this website, I am convinced that I am going to stop this drug cold turkey. I was fine before and why try and fix something that doesn't need fixing? Doctors tell me that it is a preventative measure to getting a stroke or heart attack. I believe many doctors scare us into believing that we can die someday if we don't take it and that is pretty scary. But check things out first.

Thank God my husband did some research on this drug and found this website. It convinced me that I wasn't alone and this drug is really bad for you. I plan to go back to normal and watch my weight, eat healthy, exercise, and monitor my blood pressure instead. Not to mention, my blood pressure is only borderline from being normal. So, why risk it?

41 years old, started NuvaRing 7 days ago and just removed it having been on it for just 1 week. I wasn't using it for birth control but rather to eliminate my period. (3 weeks in, then insert new one) I hope I removed it in time to avoid all the complications describe in your posts. I experienced stomach pain and nausea on the first day but that subsided. I'm a very active person working out daily burning at least 1200 calories per day. I gained 4 lbs in 5 days. Very unusual for me. By day 2 water retention, lethargy, stomach bloating, feeling pregnant, feeling irritable was overwhelming. Today, I got up to go to the gym something I do every morning and I could barely bring myself to put on my clothes, I was in a fog and by the time I got there I knew I would not be able to do the spin class. I have been in a funk all day, very blue (not quite depressed) and very tired.

Thanks so much for your advise on how to deal with the side effects of DOXY. I still have about 9 days to go for this drug and I really feel like want to stop it right now. The pill results my stomach bloating (which is why I was on this antibiotics at the first place) and fullness of my stomach, I was on and Somac at the same time, just finished Metrogyl treatment yesterday and still have about a month for Somac. I normally takes Doxy at least 3-5 hours before i sleep to prevent the upset stomach however it still affects my sleep, always wakes up very early in the morning, couldn't sleep well and feels like need to breath harder. I would like to take it in the morning but I can't because my first dose was at around evening and I can't miss that evening dose and take it the next morning instead. 9 days to go and now I am worrying about the continuous of side effects or causes other problem(upper back pain & reflux which I am experiencing now) after the treatment finished. Hopefully I m just worrying too much. God bless.

I have been using MiraLax for 3 months now. It has helped me tremendiously with my constipation however I have had horriable gas
and bloating I have gained 10 pounds. I am a regular exerciser and weight liftter (toning mostly) . I could not figure how I gained the extra weight. I hav'nt done or taken anything different except taking the MiraLax. I was told it did not make you gain weight or give you gas. Maybe all the studies are not out yet. I don't know but I need to get this weight off fast. Could it be water weight?? from miralax? Please if anyone who has used Miralax or a doctor who has had this problem help. I hate to quit taking Miralax because it really helps me. It has been the best thing I have used in years. I would love anyone to comment or offer advice.

I had extreme stomach bloating and was starting to think I had ovarian cancer or something. I could only eat a little at a time or I'd be so bloated and couldn't breathe. I had 2 lung infections, terrible feet and leg cramps and I also had neck and behind the ear pain, but thought something was out in my neck. I quit using Advair 2 months ago, and now that I come to think of it, my neck and ear pain is gone, and I'm sure I've lost at least 5 lbs. off of my stomach. I also had a very raspy throat and awful sores inside of my mouth for a few months, but attributed it to not gargling every time I used Advair. I started rinsing my mouth out better and the raspy throat did improve, but the mouth sores were always there no matter how much I rinsed. Another thing that has come to me lately is that I don't feel nearly as lethargic and depressed as I did, but never thought of it being the Advair. Reading everyone's side effects, it explains a lot of odd maladies I seemed to be suffering that I don't seem to be bothered by now. I used Advair for over 2 years every day. I will never use it again.

I have been on the ring for about a year. I have experienced panic attacks since April. I'm a stay at home mom and i live a stress free life. But I have no sex drive and my husband gets on my nerves. So, I called my doctor today. I have headaches, stomach bloating, panic attacks, mood swings, weight gain and fatigued. Yesterday, I was eating everything in sight. My husband asked me if I was pregnant. This is crazy! I took off from school to focus on my art work but all I can do is sleep. I hope after talking to my doctor, I can get my life back, not medicated. I haven't talk to anyone ( friends or family) because I don't want them to think I'm going crazy.

I took the ring out this morning after putting it in about a week ago. After suffering from manic depression for years, I've learned to watch very closely what happens with my body when I begin a new medication, and one week was more than enough for me.

The day after first put the ring in, I began feeling mildly nauseous, like morning sickness. I couldn't be around certain smells that I've always loved without wanting to throw up, (again like morning sickness,) and god help me if I skipped breakfast! Then the headaches started, like knives through my eyebrows and forehead. The second night I woke up wringing with sweat, and noticed a slight vaginal burning sensation. Stomach bloating became a problem slowly, and I noticed my ankles and feet swelling. None of these side effects went away as the days passed, and I was suddenly needing more and more sleep just to function for a few hours. I'm lucky that I'm currently on vacation from school, because I found myself sleeping up to 15 hours a day.

This morning, I'd finally had it. I woke up at 7 AM because the vaginal burning was too intense to be ignored. I pulled the ring out, grabbed a book, and ended up sitting on the toilet for about 3 hours. Twelve hours later, the inflammation has subsided just enough to be tolerable, and I can't wait for this stuff to get out of my system.

Never again. Never again, says I!

I've been on Seroquel for a month now. My dosage was progressively increased from 100mg to 400mg for severe chronic insomnia, a symptom of manic depression.

Within one month, I've gained 20 pounds and I look as if I'm six or seven months pregnant.

I am weaning myself off of it, because my doctor doesn't seem to care much about the weight gain, despite the fact that I eat less than 1000 calories a day.

A symptom of bipolar disorder is also depression, and the more I look at myself in the mirror, the more depressed I get.

I'd rather go without sleep than gain weight at the rate I've been gaining it. It's just not safe, and I can feel it taking its toll on me physically and psychologically.

It's just not worth it in my opinion. I'm giving Melatonin a try. Hopefully, that will work for me. It was suggested by one of my nurses.

It's not easy to go from a 4/5 to nearly a size 9 in a month. It really makes you feel terrible, especially when you exercise an hour and a half everyday and are on a low calorie diet.

Until I'm given something that can counteract the weight gain, I refuse to stay on Seroquel.

I admit I'm having some bouts of insomnia, but they're not nearly as bad as they were before I started the Seroquel. Perhaps that will change once the Seroquel is all out of my system.

I also notice I'm itching everywhere, from head to toe. I suppose that's a symptom of weaning yourself off of the drug.

Since May 1st, I was put on Prednisone for extreme physical inmobility. My first doctor (in emergency room of hospital)diagnosed me as having Polymyalgia Rheumatica. However, my specialist is still unsure as all test results have not come back. I was on a heavier dosage of prednisone and tapered off for 1 week when symptom reoccured. My specialist has me down to 2 pills a day and mobility has resumed. During this time, I have experienced skin rashes, tremendous hair loss, cramping in legs, pain in right arm, joint pains and stiffness. I look like I am pregnant at 68 yrs. old. What's with the stomach bloating? I hate the taste of the pills, the nervousness it creates. Can arthritis be this painful to the point I can't move at all? . As a woman... and vain....It makes me want to cry at the hair loss I go through every day.
There maybe more health issues with me than I am unware of at this moment. Is taking Prednisone a commonly prescribed medication for arthritis or other related issues?
There should be another drug with less side effects.
