I am a perfectly healthy, 24-year old young lady in excellent mental and physical health. I eat right, exercise regularly and I have no history of any health problems. In August of 2007 I started taking Yaz, it was prescribed by my gynecologist and I always got free samples, so I began taking it. In November of 2007 (almost 4-months after starting Yaz) I began having severely painful and scary gallbladder attacks. After multiple tests, I found out that at 22 years of age, my gallbladder was functioning at 0% and had to be removed immediately. I always thought that it was odd and my family did too because there is no history of gallbladder disease in my family at all and I was way too young and healthy to have my gallbladder fail. During the first few months of taking Yaz, I noticed that I was moody and tired beyond belief. I lost a few pounds though. For the first couple of months, my acne got worse, but then around the same time that I had my gallbladder removed, my acne started to improve pretty rapidly. A couple of months later I was diagnosed with IBS and have suffered digestive problems since.
I was in a relationship when I started taking Yaz and for no reason at all I lost all interest in sex and developed anxiety and an aversion to touch and in January of 2008 I broke things off with my boyfriend for no reason at all. In March of 2008 I started having severe anxiety and panic attacks. At times I even had thoughts of dying and thought that "at least I won't feel this way anymore."
To soothe those feelings I began drinking and partying and found that I felt better with the calming effects of alcohol. I drank at least 4 nights a week for about two months until I started gaining weight from the drinking. I don't have an addictive personality at all and so I just quit drinking cold turkey. It tasted horrible anyways.
In May 2008 I met the most wonderful man in the world, and yet, I was unable to ever really "feel" anything for him and I always felt emotionless and empty. My anxiety and panic attacks continued and I absolutely had no sex drive. We would have sex, but eventually my aversion to it took over and we began fighting for no reason at all and I became panicky and depressed again. In July 2008 I developed a severe allergic reaction to peanuts and had to be taken to the emergency room. I have never had any allergies and have enjoyed peanuts all throughout my life. In August of 2008 I developed an allergy to penicillin and broke out in hives. I had never been allergic to anything in my life, and all of a sudden, I had two allergies!!!
In September of 2008 my immune system went down the drain and I developed a severe and life-threatening MRSA infection. I was in and out of the emergency room for a week straight and didn't get better from it for over 3 weeks. The doctors thought I had to have some sort of AIDS or Cancer to be getting MRSA at such a young age....but all tests came back negative multiple times and they just shrugged me off as an exception to the rule.
In October of 2008 I got a severe intestinal infection called c. diff.
This took two weeks for me to get over and was absolutely horrible!!
What was happening to my body??
What was happening to my immune system??
In November I started having problems with my blood sugar and I always felt like I was on the verge of passing out unless I ate on a constant basis.
It was horrible!!!
By this time, my acne was gone, my periods were shorter...thanks Yaz.

But, I had
Migraines/Severe Headaches
Fluctuating Appetite with weird cravings for salty and sweet foods
Low Blood Sugar with light-headedness and weakness
Blurry Vision (even though my eye doctor has told me repeatedly that I have perfect vision)
Brain Fog
Severe Anxiety
Panic Attacks
Nervousness and Restlessness
Inability to pay attention
Moodiness/Snappiness
Depression
Long episodes of ataraxia where I just couldn't feel any kind of emotion
NO SEX DRIVE
An aversion to touch
Hot flashes
Body aches
Thinning hair
My gallbladder quit functioning
I had a very weak immune system
and I had developed allergies to things I had been in contact with all my life...
I had back aches and neck pains
And I had severe Insomnia in spite of the fact that I was exhausted all the time! And when I did sleep it was worth nothing....
In January of 2009 I quit my job and dumped my 'perfect' boyfriend.
In February I was unable to get a hold of any Yaz bc and therefore since I wasn't having sex, I skipped February. I felt better in February and never made any connection and so I got back on in March and since then I have never felt worse in my life!!!! I've been doing research on the effects that Yaz and other bc hormones have on our bodies and it is astonishing how much it can psychologically and physically damage our bodies. I have felt like I am going crazy and slowly dying for NO REASON AT ALL>
Yaz is a nightmare!!!
I have been off of it now for 2 days and even though I still have some of the same symptoms, I can slowly feel myself getting back to normal. I've been told that it can take up to 2-3 months to get bc completely out of your system and for your body to adjust so I'm coping and being hopeful.
During the last month or so, I have even considered taking anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medications because my life is a nightmare, luckily I looked deeper into my situation and discovered the culprit b4 I put something else in my body...
Yaz is not worth it.
I will never recommend it to anyone.
The pharmaceutical companies don't give a crap about us!!!
They just want our money and don't give a shit what their chemicals do to our bodies!!!
When I have little girls of my own someday, I will never let them take b.c.
I have been letting all of my friends and family know.
I would love to participate in a class action suite or an anti-Yaz campaign....
Anything. If you know let me know because I don't ever want anyone to have to go through what I have gone through with Yaz.
Ladies....Please do significant research before you ever put anything into your bodies.

Summary of Side Effects: subcutaneous stomach soreness, temporary blurry vision (for 10 minutes after injection), intermittent headache, moderate to severe joint pain.

I started using Byetta 5 mcg about 3 month ago. Prescribed dose is 2 injections per day. I’m gradually working up to a consistent 2 per day compliance. I have experienced intermittent headaches, and I never used to get headaches. I have had moderate intermittent joint pain over last month in both elbows. Yesterday evening I experienced severe debilitating joint pain in my left elbow. The surrounding muscle was not even tender. It has subsided today, but is still limiting motion of that arm. Byetta may not be for me.

I believe that immune response to this drug may vary widely. I have not felt particularly nauseated. Just mild stomach discomfort, and now the severe joint pain.

My husband was recovering well from hepatitis A. He's been bothered by some GERD-related digestive problems so he tried OTC Omeprazole because he didn't find any contraindications for liver conditions on it. He took 20 mg daily for 3 days, suddenly felt too full and had no appetite, stopped it but tried again 3 days later when he started having stomach discomfort again. On the 4th day he complained of stabbing pain in his stomach. The next day he was exhausted, bloated, and had a tickling irritation in his throat, and swelling in his feet. He'd had none of these symptoms before taking Omeprazole. I did some research on the Web (at physician's sites) and learned that it is very bad for people with liver problems -- it suppresses key liver enzymes and remains in the body for a very long time. That's been 10 days ago now and his symptoms continue -- mostly fatigue, bloating and swelling in the feet. He never experienced ANY of these things before taking Omeprazole! I see by postings that many people do experience these symptoms for a very long time.

I was on the ring for 5 years with no problems. Toward the end I was having major mood swings; I would get angry or upset very easily. I also would experience occasional stomach discomfort, but not 100% sure that it was as a result of using the ring. It has been 10 months since I stopped using the ring. About two weeks after I quit using the ring I started having periods that would last anywhere from 14-20 days, and stop for 5-10 days. I've had blood tests and an ultra sound just a couple of months ago which came out negative. I've also tried Provera to help regulate my cycle, but that hasn't had much of an effect. I'm still experiencing extremely long periods (averaging 14-16 days long), and short lengths of time (averaging 7-10 days) of not having a period. I wish I never would have taken the NuvaRing.

Started on Metoprolol about two months ago for a sudden onset of heart irregularity, mostly skipped beats. I'm already experiencing some of same problems described on this site. Because of that, I was looking for information and ended up on this site. My symptoms include daily headaches, inertia and lack of motivation, feel like sleeping all day long, wt gain, foggy headed, bloating and stomach discomfort. These symptoms have either started or intensified since I started on this medication. I plan to wean off this as soon as possible, with or without the doctor's cooperation. I've had a cardiac workup since I started the medication and no problems were detected.

mY 11 year old son has a history of reflux, which he had taken Prevacid for in the past. He broke his arm and is taking NSAIDS, flaring up the reflux. Company's new insurance plan requires we have documented 2 week trial of zantac prior to approving Prevacid for use. He has been on Zantac now for four days and has had increasingly frequent watery diarrhea, stomach discomfort, nausea, difficulty sleeping, and loss of appetite. This is an unacceptable side effect profile for a medication for a child. Per the insurance company, he has to suffer with this for two weeks in order to get a medicine that we know works approved for payment. Insane. I will be taking him off Zantac as he is worse now than when he started taking it.

I'm on day 22 of taking this darn pill. I haven't been on bc for almost 3 years and the only reason I am taking it now is because my doctor has me trying it for 2 months because of ovarian cysts causing stomach discomfort. For the past week and a half I've have intolerable headaches that seem to be increasingly worse. For the past 4 days I have started to have horrible lower back pain and I have been told this weekend that I have been biting everyones heads off for no reason. I still have stomach pain. I snap at everyone just out of the blue. I started spotting brown discharge in day 21 and I am so not feeling right. I'm glad I finally decided to look up this pill and read everyones comments. First thing tomorrow morning I will be making a phone call to my doctor.

I have been on nuvaring for two months and have had numerous side effects never thinking to attribute them to the ring. I have complained to all my friends that there is something weird going on with me and I didn't feel right. I thought maybe my thyroid levels were off. I am 43 and started using it at the recommendation of my gyn for pms symptoms. I have gained weight around my middle despite being very active and eating well. I have always had a flat stomach until recently. all my clothes are tight and I feel bloated all the time. I have also had terrible pelvic pain, decreased libido, vaginal dryness, difficulty with orgasms, depression, irritability, stomach discomfort and headaches. I just took it out and am looking forward to being myself again.

I just started taking Strattera (40mg) and haven't had a positive experience yet. Nausea and stomach discomfort are my biggest side affect, along with feeling like I'm in a daze. Maybe my dosage is too high, maybe too low. I don't know, but I don't see the benefit and I'm feeling pretty uncomfortable.

My son was recently prescribed Singulair and I refuse to start him on anything that I don't research on the internet first. Thank god I did. I read everyone's symptoms on here and couldn't believe what I was reading. After discussing my research with his doctor, she of course tried to brush it off saying that the internet is not a place where I should be getting my information. That people make things up etc. We all have to understand that Doctors get paid to SELL the product to you ( the human lab rat). Please make sure to research any meds a.k.a. chemicals they want you to put into your body. Take care of your body, eat the right food and take your vitamins/supplements. I can't believe the news today..I'm sooo happy I did not put my son on this EVIL drug! Take care of yourselves and god bless you all.

I am a 66 year old female with mild hypertension successfully treated with 25 mg HCTZ for over 10 years. In January 2008 I developed sinusitis and ended up in the hospital for a week exceedingly high BP and an electrolyte imbalance. Initially the MD wanted to give me Lisinopril, but I told him that there is a hx of family sensitivity to the drug. Both my mother and brother had developed a severe cough and had to stop Lisinopril. He prescribed something else. It's now 2 months since my acute illness and they can't get my BP under control. I told my MD that I would be willing to try Lisinopril since the cough from my sinus infection is now gone. I didn't want to rule out using it just because of a family hx. Maybe I would react differently? I am already on 2 BP meds and Lisinopril made it #3. I took 2.5 mg Lisinopril and for 3 days felt wonderful. My BP was terrific. I suddenly developed severe acid indigestion which kept me awake all night. The next day I had a dry cough which would make me me gag. Then I developed non-stop belching, nonspecific stomach discomfort, and loose stools. I felt "not quite all there". My BP has been terrific. I just called my MD and she will prescribe something else. I asked her, taking only 2.5 mg, if it's possible to develop side effects in only 3 days and she said yes. Wish me luck as I try my new 3rd BP medicine.

OMG! I just cannot believe it! My almost 3 year old has been on Singulair since the fall and was on it last year as well and she has been suffering with chronic otitis media, she was diagnosed with idiopathic hives, she has developed a patch of eczema on her leg, c/o stomach discomfort -- Needless to say I have discontinued this med. I am really upset over this! She has an ear recheck in 2 weeks because we are at the point where we are considering put tubes in her ears. I just cannot believe this!

Male, age 39, bp at worst 148/88 in Dr.'s office, 137/78 at worst at home, both parents had history of heart disease before passing away at age 67, 20 mg. of lisinopril.

Side effects experienced during the 9 months on this stuff: Anxiety, CHEST PAIN!, tingling in hands and feet, pounding heartbeat at night, drowsiness, stomach discomfort.

First, let me say that the medication worked in keeping my blood pressure down. I was in the 115/65 range at best, 130/80 at worst (rarely).

BUT, this stuff made me feel like absolute crap and led to many sleepless night due to anxiety. I would have chest pains along my rib cage. The pain wasn't usually in the same spot, but moved around. These sharp, stabbing pain episodes lasted anywhere from 2 minutes (pain coming every 30 seconds or so) to the entire afternoon (resulting in two trips to the ER where the EKG was normal).

With a history of heart disease in my family, I'm very aware of chest pain of any kind, and this drove me nuts until I found this website. I thought I was having heart attacks! My doctor had no idea that chest pain could be a side effect of this drug and when I told him it was #4 on the list of most side effect complaints, he was shocked. He thought it was well tolerated.

I went off the 20 mgs for about a month and then the doctor talked me into going back on 10 mgs after a doctor.'s visit and a 148/88 reading. I was fine for the first day, then the anxiety and chest pains returned along with the drowsiness (couldn't make it past 7 PM without falling asleep in the lazy-boy). Enough of this crap! I threw out the bottle. No more.

Tips while taking this medication:

1. Sit up for at least an hour after taking doxycycline. And always with at least 8oz of water, 16oz is better. This will help with the majority of stomach discomfort. Take on an empty stomach. If you have any nausea, consult with your doctor or pharmacist BEFORE you opt to take this medication with food. DO NOT TAKE WITH MILK (See item 4.)
2. Suncreen is suggested, minimum of SPF 50, your pharmacologist can assist you with the selection during your consult. If they don't voluntarily consult you on this drug, find a new pharmacy. You can get sunburn even in your house depending on the sun's direction. Any stinging on the skin is a good clue to apply sunscreen and move out of the sunlight.
3. Do not take any form of antacid or vitamin within four hours unless directed otherwise.
4. Doxycycline is a tetracycline, therefore avoid dairy products. This includes cheese and yogurt. You can render the medication totally inactive by cosuming dairy. This can result in your infection not being cleared, superinfection or resistant organisms.
5. If you have recently taking a *cillin type antibiotic, be sure to tell your doctor or pharmacist. Do not take concurrently with these type of antibiotics unless your doctor tells you to do so.

If you develop hives, swelling of the face or throat, shortness of breath contact your doctor or pharmacist right away. These side effects are very rare, but can be serious.

Most side effects from this drug can be avoided by following these simple steps.

is it the syntroid? i used to be very energenic and a doer. now i have spurts of activity in the morning , but then i just can't get motivated. help me any suggestions?

After having sinus surgery (lasted more than 3 hrs) my ent dr placed me on singulair. once i recovered from the sugery, it was incredible. i had been sick for a year. my pf was down to 30%, i was on a rescue inhalaer, nebulizer, advair, and sometimes oral prednisone. the efffect was immediate. i felt good for the first time in more than a year. i weighed about 135 lbs - at 5'6, i was slim. After a year, i had gained about 15 pounds, and had urination at night every 1-2 hrs, then i started having stomach discomfort - consistant indigestion. i went to the dr who ordered lab, and gave me prevacid and told me to come back in a week. the next a.m. i took the prevacid and when i started to eat breakfast, i started vomitting and did not stop. i experienced muscle spasms starting in my neck, down my back, leg that were non-stop for 3 hrs. i went to the er, had all kind of tests, mri, etc. the drs never gave me a dianosis, but my daughter thought it was the singular so i refused it while in the hospital. after recovering at home for a few days i went back to work. no more muscle spasm, no more frequent urination, stomach discomfort is only about 20% of what it was, but i am about 30 pounds heavier than when i started the drug. i eat only 1,200 - 1,500 calories a day, but cannot lose the weight. i have an active job, walk a lot, but cannot lose the weight. i am on asmanex and have not been to my allergist in about 6 months. doing very well!!!

The first time I got on singulair, the effects were practically magical. My once severe allergies and asthma seemed to completely diminish, and in the springtime, I regained my sense of smell, which had always been compromised by severe nasal congestion. However, I did suffer some serious and frustrating side effects. I was unable to digest foods for the first few months, and had diarrhea nearly every day.

I am not starting it again this spring, and have noticed constant bloating and stomach discomfort, and have had some difficulty falling asleep in the last week or so. I'm not sure if I'll stay on it, since I've been feeling pretty sick with the side effects.

My doctors checked when complaining about abdominal ache and found out that my lipaze and amylaze were elevated.I made some research and found out that Lisinopril can cause the elevations.I read it somewhere but forgot.Anyone with this problem?I have GERD and took almost half a dozen different meds. at different times.I still have the problem.Could the abdominal ache be from Lisinopril 40mg once a day for over 4years now.My doctor also told me that I have tiny noddules about 2mm on my left lung.I really don't know where this one came from.I never smoked my entire life never exposed to any kind of infections. The only thing that I can tell is that my mantox on my arm for TB test with positive.A lot my country folks have those problems on their arms but no noddules on their lungs. Please, help if anyone has any feedbacks or experience on GERD.I have tried other suppliments like Digestinol which is made of Aloe Vera plant. It didn't work for me or maybe I quit too early because of some stomach discomfort.THANK YOU!

Stomach discomfort (bloating), indigestion even after taking it with food, Heart racing, irritable, nervousness, headache, Thank god you all have written in. I found myself a little short of breath but come to find out that it is the biaxin. I think the bronchitis by itself would have gone away faster without the biaxin.

I started taking Fosamax the morning of the 13th of April and this is the evening of the 15th. I have been having bouts of nausea and stomach discomfort since yesterday afternoon that are becoming more frequent and now accompanied by flatulence. My appetite has changed because I feel so yucky.
I was prescribed it because of a bone density exam that says I have severe bone loss in my femurs and moderate in my spine. I am an otherwise healthy 55 year old woman, very active and energetic, daily dog-walker at moderately brisk speed.
After reading this site I am even less keen to take it than I was....I have always bruised easily and I was born with thin hair.
