There seems to be similar increases in nausea and dosage size of Diovan. Dosage has gone in two years from 40 to 80 and now 160. I am pursuing the idea that the nausea is caused by gastroparesis, which is slow emptying of the stomach, and there is some indication on websites that Diovan can indeed cause gastroparesis. I am now backing off the Diovan dosage slowly, by chopping pills and taking the 80 pill plus about 20 or 30's worth 12 hours later. As the pill is coated a bit, I wonder at what rate the exposed, chopped pill piece dispenses itself.
I had an endoscopy a few days ago and it was mostly negative, no cancer, no esophageal damage, no Barrett's, a little redness in the stomach lining which the surgeon is testing for H. pylori.
I have lost about 14 lbs due to being careful with all the nausea, and it is time to work outside on my vegetable crops, so I hope to get the BP down the right way and get rid of most or all of the Diovan.
The nausea happens about 12 hours after eating.
Anybody else having nausea?

Is this normal, I have been on Doxycycline for 5 days for a urinary tract infection and from day one i had a sore throat with swollen glands, extreme anxiety and feeling pretty ill, yes it has helped my infection a lot but I have now developed very bad pains in my chest like extreme indigestion and finding it hard to swallow anything, even water, without it hurting??

Im thinking about talking to the Doctor Im feeling pretty rough at the moment and not too sure whether this is normal or not!!

Two days ago I took out my third molars (wisdom teeth), afterwards I took a prescription strength 600mg Ibuprofen with no side effects. I took another pill 6 hours later, and I have been having the worst upper stomach pain, much worse than the tooth ache ever was since then. I have been waking up with agonizing pain every hour for the past two nights, and I can't even take Tylenol for my tooth pain now since my stomach is so messed up (I tried and it cause horrible stomach pain).

So on top of having to treat the stomach problem, I can't take any pain medication for my teeth and I'm just miserable. I'm 25 years old and have never had stomach problems before, the first night I thought I was poisoned or something and I was dieing. I think the small label on the bottle that says "if it causes upset stomach, take it with crackers or bread" needs to be replaced with "it doesn't matter what you take it with, it can cause much more pain that you have ever imagined." Because it actually doesn't matter if you take it with bread, or inject it to yourself, the function of ruining the stomach lining is because of it's anti-inflammatory chemicals, not direct contact with stomach.

I read about it now, and apparently the deaths from Ibuprofen and Aspirin (anti-inflammatory pain medications) caused by gastrointestinal problems is about as many as deaths by HIV-Aids in USA*. I don't see any Ibuprofen awareness rallies though. I wish I had time to sue someone because I really really want to.

Hi, I am still taking Prednisone. I have been trying to get off of it since September and am now down to 2.5 mg. a day. Yes, I agree with you it does NOT take massive quantities of Prednisone to do internal organ damage. I can no longer eat normally anymore since September 14th, 2007. (I can drink all the water I want, however) I am slowly starving to death, I think. IF I don't completely lose my brain functioning first?! If I eat anything like dairy or any carbs like pastas or breads of any kind or simple sugars, juices of any kind, or candies or cookies, crisps or the like, I go into massive withdrawals and brain fog!! Any holiday foods I must stay away from. I can no longer eat tomatoes or Mexican, Chinese, Italian, pies, ice cream, coffee, tea with sugar or milk, etc etc....The list of 'no no's are endless!! And this thing won't let me cheat! It knows if I eat the so-called 'wrong foods'. My Neuropathology doctor says I now have "Leaky Gut Syndrome"!! What the he** is THAT?!
I feel like my brain power is melting away to nothing and I am going through daily life in a haze. This is a very real and frightening feeling for me to experience!! I tried "jumping off" the 2.5 mg Prednisone on Tuesday the 11th and was in full horrible withdrawals by Thursday afternoon! I cannot even begin to tell you what horrible symptoms I experienced!! I had to reinstate the 2.5 and my Doctor said I just could. NOT 'COLD TURKEY what I had left, but must taper the final 2.5 over a period of the next several weeks!! I don't know whether I'll have a brain LEFT by that point or I may be a dithering, slobbering idiot by that time?! When I go to sleep and then wake up, I notice that I have MORE brain-fog than ever!!! Not to mention I have constant diarrhoea all day from drinking magnesium (Natural Calm) in the mornings to keep from pacing and being a nervous wreck?!
HELP ANYONE?! Am I ever going to get my brain back to normal?! And be able to eat normally again?!

I've had horrid luck with hormonal birth control. all other methods i tried made my breasts grow, made me sick to my stomach or made me spot constantly. i have been trying to find a method that will let me regulate my disabling cramps so i can avoid missing work every month or disolving my stomach lining with pain killers. i went on Yasmin a few years ago and at first thought i had finally found the answer: no more cramps, and no gross hormonal side effects. i stayed on Yasmin for three years until i realized that my libido was gone. absolutely gone. i was in a happy relationship, i exercise regularly, eat well and am not depressed. i talked to a NP coworker (i work at a reproductive health clinic) and she told me about Yasmin's anti-androgenic effects. no androgens, thus no libido. i quit Yasmin that day. now i have my beloved sex drive back but still haven't found a cure for my cramps.

"Stuck Between a Rock and a Hard Place" 04/04/07
Thank you for all of your shares! Has anyone experienced Diarrhea as a result of taking Yasmin 28? I have been on it for 4/5 years. I started taking it because my GYN diagnosed me with endometriosis and my periods were heavy and sooo very painful. So, at first it was a relief; my periods didn't last as long, were not as heavy and the cramps were lessened. HOWEVER, ever since I have been on the Yasmin, I have been certainly very moody, and I have had moderate to severe tummy pains a lot of the time, and spontaneous bowel movements including diarrhea! I have tried every medication from anti-spasmadic meds to anti-anxiety meds to homeopathic remedies and probiotics. I was diagnosed with IBS many years ago but the symptoms grew soooo much worse ever since I started the Yasmin!! After being on Yasmin, it was as if my whole gastro system broke down; I have seeked help & testing from gastroenterologists since I developed ulcers due to h-pylori bacteria, diverticulosis of the intestines, gastritis (inflammation of the stomach lining)and I even developed a hiatal hernia and have to take prevacid daily ever since I started taking Yasmin! I eat healthy, I am 33 years old, I don't drink or do drugs and I don't smoke. I swear I am beginning to think all of this may have been caused by the Yasmin since none of it was occurring before I started taking the Yasmin 4.5 years ago!? I think I want to get off of it now, but I am afraid to take any other birth control due to suffering from more side effects. Although I do want to have children with my boyfriend when we get married in a few years, I am in fear of getting pregnant now if I get off the Yasmin. I don't even know if the rythym method truly works. Help?!

I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT DRUG INTERACTIONS WITH METHYLPRED. I AM TAKING HYDROCODONE/APAP 5/500M FOR PAIN AND MELOXICAM 15MG FOR OSTEOARTHRITIS. I ALSO TAKE PROTONIX WITH THE MELOXICAM TO PROTECT THE STOMACH LINING. SHOULD I STOP THESE DRUGS WHILE I AM ON THIS DOSE PAK? SINCE I WILL BE STARTING THE DRUG FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE MORNING, I DON'T YET HAVE A SIDE EFFECT TO REPORT. THANK YOU.

I have been taking Lipitor for the last year. Recently I started to have stomach pains on the right side. An ultra sound revealed that I had developed cysts on my liver.
I had a CT scan this week which confirmed the cysts, and also a thickening of my stomach walls.
I had a colonoscopy and upper GI, and everything checked out ok but they took a biopsy of my stomach lining.
Even though I had low cholesterol my doctor prescribed Lipitor as a preventative drug. I strongly urge people to discontinue its use. I exercise daily, am a vegetarian, and have a low stress job. I have always been very healthy. This is the first time I have a problem.

I have been on lisinipril for over 10 years.

Side Effects from Advair: Guest #4309

So far, according to both myself and my alternative med. Dr. it has damaged/destroyed/harmed/ nervous system, thyroid, hormones, hydrochloric acid, digestive enzymes, ability for my body to intake supplements, joint pains, muscle pains, inability to sleep comfortably, chills, introduced my leaky gut syndrome, etc. My Doctor did a test on me for digestive enzymes. Apparently I don't have hardly anything to break down food from my mouth all the way to my stomach.Nor is there hydrochloric acid. I'm really in bad shape and I've been since I have taken advair. First it started with weight gain due to constipation, heart palpitations, then weight loss because of the fungal problems, etc.

Advair works wonders for asthma but may DESTROY the rest of your body and mind (because of what your body goes through). Advair seems to work well because I believe advair takes mucus away so your lungs can function better But I think it also takes mucus out of your stomach lining which is to lubricate food so it can go thru your digestive tract more easily. It also may damage the production of hydrochloric acid which is important for chemical digestion. From there foods do not start to digest properly and sits in your stomach longer to FERMENT!!! It starts its process of destroying cells/tissues/organs, etc. Leaky gut systems assists in this process. The food allergy rashes don't help whatsoever. From reading the complaints on this website, there really doesn't seem to be much of a cure or help after the advair is taken, even months, years later.

I still wish my asthma was back and in bad shape vs. what I've been and am still going through.

I was given Ultracet to manage severe pain from sciatica. I was told that Ultracet was 'less addictive' than Percocet, which I'd been taking. What a disaster. The Ultracet faded out on me in less than three hours, leaving me in pain, and I developed severe stomach problems: acute, spasmadic cramps, inflamation of my stomach lining, and ultimately, gastritis. The doctor stopped the Ultracet as soon as I complained of the pain--by then, I could barely stand upright.

The gastritis is still a serious problem, months after stopping the Ultracet. I now have to take prescription medication for gastritis, and cannot take any pain reliever except acetomenophin. (For folks outside the U.S., even paracetamol aggravates the stomach.) This drug ruined my life. Everything, from my diet, to how I manage my pain, to how I perform my daily activities has had to be changed.

Please, please, PLEASE, discuss this option with your doctor before agreeing to take the 'less addictive' Ultracet.

i took doxycycline daily for several months as an anti-malarial prophylactic and had disastrous health problems as a result. the worst part is that i didn't think all of my sudden health problems were due to the doxycycline, so i continued to take it daily, even when i could no longer eat because i could not swallow anything!!!

it hurt to swallow spit, let alone water or food, but i thought the doxycycline was a crucial thing to continue taking to avoid malaria risk, so i made myself continue it despite the excruciating pain i was experiencing every day. none of the doctors i consulted could understand what was going on, but none of them thought it was due to the prolonged taking of doxycycline either. but it was.

i was one of the people who developed esophageal ulcers, which initially felt like a lump in my throat (like if you were to eat a hunk of french bread and swallowed without chewing well enough) and later was so painful that i stopped eating altogether. this was 8 years ago, i don't remember if i was experiencing headaches or the other common side effects, aside from nausea, digestive problems, and sun-sensitivity, which i did experience.

eventually i was unable to leave my bed, no energy at all, in severe pain, feeling like i was ready to give up and die (it was that alarming and scary; i actually remember that thought) and finally i was seen by an ayurvedic doctor (indian traditional system of medicine). she was shocked that americans are prescribed such a strong drug for anti-malarial prophylaxis. she said in india they will take it at that dosage for three days max, but i had been taking it for months at my doctor's recommendation! she insisted that i stop taking the doxycycline IMMEDIATELY and eat custard and vanilla pudding, which counteracted the burning effects of the ulcerations of my esophagus and stomach lining (and also didn't hurt as much as solid food would have).

i started feeling better immediately and decided i'd rather deal with getting malaria than ever subject myself to taking antibiotics for anything other than an acute serious infection that could not be addressed by any other means. i certainly will never take doxycylcine again. i am someone who reads about potential side effects of all medications and prefers to take none; however, back then, the esophageal ulcers weren't even mentioned in the side effect literature that i received.

i hope this helps someone who may be going through similar issues now. antibiotics are stronger drugs than we realize, and i'm amazed at how regularly and almost carelessly they are prescribed. but i put more blame on the fact that we as consumers don't have access to adequate information provided to educate ourselves about the possible risks of the drugs we take. the drug industry wouldn't be such a moneymaking machine if we were well informed.

My mother was put on this medication to build up her blood plateletes. This does not made any sense to us since this was prescribed for my daughter who had severe asthma years ago. It was too severe on my daughter's stomach lining and other than that, did not have any other side effects that we knew of beside some weight gain, which truth to tell, is a family trait anyway. But my mother, who is in her early 70's, has experienced severe cramping, sleeplessness, her hands tremble, her legs tend to curl up, and she becomes nauseous and is losing weight she can't afford to lose. Why everyone else seems to gain weight and she is LOSING weight is wierd. Why she was told to take this medication is something I will find out on her next visit since it has NOTHING to do with building up her blood! My brother has a friend who was on put on this medication back in the 70's and stayed on it for decades. He got the moon face effect and gained 60 pounds; it ate away his hip bone. He has a limp to this day.
