I am Jessica, an 11 year old. I received my 2nd shot last week, and since then I have had severe abdominal pains. I have the urge to vomit, but never do. I then looked up the side effects of Gardasil on Google and only nausea was there, not stomach pains in general. I blamed it on my antibiotics for strep I had taken last month, think it was just kicking in. I am 100% sure that Gardasil caused my stomach pains.

Since I've gotten my Mirena Implant I've been diagnosed with 2 different STD's and an infection which after the blood tests came back negative! So far I have taken meds for HPV, Herpes, and a UTI. Each time I go in for my pap smear and check up to make sure the IUD is still in place I inform the doctors (have visited 6: 3 for the first pap, 3 for the second opinion) that one of the biggest side effects of the implant is abnormal pap smears, even hand them the same pamphlet that the inserting doctor gave me when I first got it (which clearly states abnormal pap smears as a side effect) however I still end up with some horrible disease/infection!

So far, in the one year I have had this thing in me, I have taken 20 different meds for these STD's that I NEVER HAD!!!! These meds have made me horribly sick and the UTI meds almost killed me.

Also, like many women on here, I have bad hair loss, headaches, horrible back pains, and crippling stomach pains. Constantly attempting to get my doctor to give me an ultra sound to make sure that the impant didnt tear me but she refuses! Go to the hospital to ask them for the same and they refuse also "Thats not likely with the implant."

This is my one year check up coming up, I want this thing out! If they do not take it out I'm threatening with a lawsuit. This is NOT a life saving device and they should have NO say in whether or not this stays in!

I get very sick when I get my period, they are long and heavy, and I have digestion problems and intense stomach pains for at least 1-2 weeks before and the week of. These symptoms disappeared for a while when I was on Apri (desogen) but after a few months, they came back, and on top of it, I became severely depressed and had such bad stomach pains, I went to the emergency room (and you pretty much have to drag me to hospitals).

This last period was so bad though that I finally decided to take the sample pack of Loestrin that my doctor gave me a month or two ago. Just a day after I started taking it, my period ended and the pain and bloating was gone. This is day 6 and I'm fine so far. On Ortho Tri-Cyclen (my first pill) I had bad side effects the first few days and gained ten pounds in two weeks.

I'm glad these forums exist, because they helped me realize that all of the depression (including suicidal thoughts), stomach pain, hair loss, etc. etc. were side effects of desogen. All of those things that contributed to the worst summer of my life disappeared as soon as I stopped taking it.

On the other hand, I have to point out that there is no "good" pill or "bad" pill. The side effects will be different for everyone. Some women need more estrogen, some need less. Some need fluctuating amounts of hormones and some need the same dosage all month. Unfortunately the only way to figure out what is right for you is to try them, note your reactions, and research the differences between pills. I realized quickly that I needed a low, stable dose of estrogen, which led me to try Loestrin. Not saying things can't go wrong from here, but now I am aware that if I fall into some depression, anxiety, weight gain, or other weird side effects, it *may* be caused by the pill I'm taking.

Is the pill worth it? Again, answers will vary depending on your lifestyle. Are your periods manageable or do they cause you not to be able to get out of bed in the morning? Are they consistent or are you praying you're no pregnant every month? Are condoms working for you or aren't they, and is the 2% chance of still becoming pregnant worth the risk?

While I've had bad experiences with some pills, I'm just grateful for this BC option in general. Until they figure out how to make birth control pills for men (pshh.. that'll be the day) then it's up to us to research and maek the best decisions for ourselves.

Hi, i just wanted to say that very many people use Yasmin with little or no side effects whatsoever, i sympathies so much with everyone who has had bad side effects, and i completely agree that every person is different, some birth controls work for people, some don't. I find that most people who look up forums are the ones who have problems with a tablet, and thats why the majority of posts are all negative. To everyone who has had bad side effects i sympathies so much and would recommend trying a different pill, however very many people use this pill with little or absolutely no side effects (i know of some people with no side effects at all on Yasmin). I just don't want people to be worried unnecessarily. It is meant to be one of the pills with the least side effects and don't rule out using it because of some negative posts.

Hi,
I'm a 38 year old woman who went on Singulair in September of 2006. By December of that year I started experiencing heart palpitations, dizziness, and nightmares that stayed with me in my waking hours. By January of 2007 I was having full blown anxiety attacks. My doctor ran every test under the sun and I went to several therapists. By the end of January my doctor had me on Effexor, and several other short term aids such as atavan. The summer of 2007 I started experiencing stomach pains and sever diarrhea. As much as I loved my 20 pound weight loss, it was not a lot of fun. Again every test under the sun showed nothing. This spring I heard of the concerns of Singulair and immediately went off of it. Within a few weeks I felt like my old self. I am still weaning off of the Effexor and my asthma is not as good as it was on the Singular, but it is worth having my health and my life back. I feel that Singular almost ruined 2 years of my life. It should be taken off of the market.

overall, great! It greatly reduced my appetite and I no longer snack endlessly. However, if I take it early in the morning without eating a fairly substantial breakfast I do get quite a bit of nausea. I have also experienced minor(and I mean MINOR) stomach pains.

My son, who is 8, has just been prescribed Lexapro. He's only been on it for 2 weeks and is taking only 5mgs. He was diagnosed with depression. The first four days were wonderful. I had my sweet, loving boy back. Since then, a lot of "crap" we have been dealing with is back, but at least the sadness/aggression/temper have not been as bad as before. He is having horrible stomach pains, but could be caused by allergy drainage or possible intestinal problems that have yet to be diagnosed. Anybody out there with a child going through the same thing?

My son was also taking Singular for 8 months last fall and that was a NIGHTMARE! Don't ever allow your child to be prescribed this medicine, especially if they already have behavior issues.

Wow. i thought i was the only one. I began my period 3 weeks ago...i began the pill the first Sunday after my period as the doctor prescribed. My period stopped after 5/ 6 days as normal. Then after taking the pill daily i began to spot exactly a week after me period stopped. Im just beginning the first brown pill today and im still bleeding! A few days ago i noticed these strange dark clumps that i found to be pretty weird. Other than that i haven't had any nausea. But i did have some horrible stomach pains the next day after some good night's sex with my boyfriend. It was very intense pains.I also been very emotional as well, crying and don't even know why im srying most of the time. I have been bleeding for about two weeks non stop now. and me and my boyfriend doesn't like it, especially since we are very sexually active. I haven't taken the pill for a month yet, but im waiting to see what happens after a month or two.....

My son is 5 years old and has been on Sigulair since he was probably 2 years old. I never really thought anything of his behavior until recently. I took him to the doctor because he would not stop sniffing and said his nose felt stuffed up. The Dr. said his nose was completely clear. I asked her about the Singulair and she said I was the 2nd one this week whose child had recently developed a tic and that the other child was also on Singulair. She said she would call the Drug Rep. and let me know. By the time I got home she had called and I called her back. She said that tics occurred in a very small percentage of children taking singulair and to go ahead a stop taking it. I have also experienced severe behavioral problems ( tantrums unlike anything I have ever seen, telling myself and and my husband that he hates us, he tells us that he is stupid and that he doesn't love himself, he says he will cut his Dad's head off and that he wants us to go to jail.) There is more but just talking about for the first time, I am so upset that I never put 2&2 together. He has also had the leg pains and stomach pains. Everything I have read, fits my 5 year old to a"T". I am in awe over all of this. Today is his first day not taking it and I am looking forward to seeing some changes in him. Does anybody know if there are any long-term affects? Thank you to everyone who is open enough to talk about things and get information out there for people like me . I will never give my child Singulair again. Thank you so much

Hello all! for everyone considering getting off of yaz because of the side effects, from experience i say DO IT!! I took it for about a year and definitely became a different person. I've never been really emotional, i've always been active, and never had many heath problems (fortunately!) - It took me a long time to associate my changes with yaz, because they didn't come suddenly, but became gradually worse after a few months. I started getting worried about everything, and acting irrationally...especially in my relationship. I got insecure, needy and moody, and that obviously didn't help, especially when he was used to being with someone laid back and easy going!! things mattered to me that would never have before. i hate drama, and i just seemed to be causing it! i also gained some weight, but didn't notice that right away either. at one point i began having sharp pains that my doctor said were at my bladder, and i only felt them during sex. I went to two doctors and they couldn't figure out what they were so i just had to deal. they were horribly painful, and i've never had anything like it before, or since. i ended up getting off the pill by accident when i didn't realize my prescription had run out. at this point my boyfriend and i had broken up, and i now know a big part of it was how emotional and irrational i had become. i decided to stay off of it, because i don't medication anyway unless its truly necessary.

I didn't start feeling any different for about three months. i didn't know there would be a completely different set of side effects for coming off of it either!! so about 3 months later i started having these awful stomach pains. i had no idea what it was, i had never felt anything close to it. a friend suggested it was gas but i knew better...it was very odd and lasted almost 2 weeks. i felt nauseous almost every day. i didn't know what was wrong with me! i couldn't find anything exact online, so i planned on seeing a doctor shortly. i lost weight suddenly, and another friend asked me about it. i hadn't changed my diet or activities so i was confused! then i thought....maybe i lost this weight bc of my birth control, and we continued to look up symptoms online. WOW. everything i felt was described perfectly, and many sources said it took about 3 months to get out of your system!

i noticed i felt emotionally stable again too. it was me again! i figured it was relationship probs that made me feel crazy before, but at this point i was able to sit back and think about everything rationally. i think my craziness caused a good amount of them...i cant believe all of the changes i had, and didn't even know it.

anyway, ive been off of yaz for almost a year now and its great. i have a new boyfriend, and everything is great- i'm no emotional wreck, i don't make issues out of nothing, and when we do have an issue we're able to discuss it like normal people. life is much more simple. and its nice knowing the decisions and acts i make are all just bc thats how i am...not because of some medication!!

i know that was long, but hopefully it was helpful :)

I am 20 years old and I had no fear about the Gardasil shot until I received my second shot. I had my first shot July 7, 2008 after my sister-in-law convinced me to have to. She swore by it. After I received the shot I immediately noticed that I was having headaches and nausea. I figured it was just a small side effect so I put it out of my mind. I was known for having migraines also. This was on my mother's birthday, I couldn't enjoy it with her. Later in the week I started becoming very ill and I thought it was due to stress and lack of sleep. I was working a night time job as a manager so the stress was normal for me. On Sunday, July 20, 2008 I went over to a friends house because I was depressed and needed to be with some on when I noticed the I had been getting dizzy. My friends boyfriend was giving me a ride home while he was smoking a cigarette and the smell made me feel very nauseated. I thought I was pregnant because my boyfriend and I had recently broken up not even a month before. After I got home all hell broke loose. I started vomiting. For the next 2 weeks I had been vomiting and I was not able to hold anything down. I couldn't eat and I couldn't drink anything. I was working full time while being sick. I had no energy at all. Finally, July 31, 2008 I was admitted into the hospital. I was complaining of stomach pains and a late period along with the nausea, severe heartburn, and exhaustion. After doing x-rays, blood work, and urine tests they came back and said I was not pregnant, but I was dehidrated. I was on a drip for 4 hours making me late to work. I finally was released from the hospital after lying to them telling them that I was feeling better. I felt worse than before. I went to work that night completely out of my mind because my boss refused to work for me. In weeks to come I started feeling better. I got my second shot September 12, 2008. Once again I immediately noticed a headache and nausea and this time I knew it was from the shot. I still didn't think much of it even after I heard about what the shot was doing to people. I noticed a red mark where the injection site was but I figured it was normal. I went through my weekend without a care in the world when I noticed on Sunday that I wasn't feeling well at all and I was starting to get another headache. This was on my brother's 23rd birthday so I put on a brave face and went through the night. I went to bed early. Last night I was sitting on the couch watching my favoraite show when I noticed I was getting another headache. I didn't want to say anything to my parents because there was nothing they could do about it. Later in the night I noticed my headache was getting worse with a sudden sore throat with no cold symptoms. I once again went to bed early. I woke up this morning with the same sore throat and headache only they were both worse following nausea. I was supposed to take a college placement test, but I had to cancel it for the second time due to being sick from the Gardasil shot. After I did that I came online and looked at possible side effects vs. side effects people are really having. Panicing I called a line called "My Nurse" and spoke with a nurse at my local hospital. She told me that since I am on birth control to try to regulate my period that it might have something to do with my headache. I told her about the times before when I was not on birth control and my hospitalization with the dehydration and headaches and she told me that I was the second person today calling and complaining about a headache after receiving the second shot. She informed me to try to take ibuprofin and if my headache was not gone within the next hour or two to go see my family doctor and ask him about the Gardasil and if I should receive my 3rd shot in January. So far it's been an hour and every time I swallow I feel like I'm going to vomit and my headaches only gotten worse since taking something for it. I will not be receiving my 3rd shot and I suggest to anyone who is getting the Gardasil to carefully consider it before getting it. I was perfectly healthy before receiving the shot and now I'm a mess.

I thought the nr was the best think since sliced bread. I'm 22 years old and I've been on nuvaring for 3 or 4 months now and I haven't experienced any change in my mood swings or anything as far as depression goes. I can say that for the past two and half almost 3 weeks I've been breaking out in hives really bad like clockwork every night. I've gotten crushing chest pains 3 or 4 times last month and this month. A couple of days ago after I took out my nr for my nf free week I was doubled over with stomach pains. My abdomen was so swollen I looked as If I was 5 months prego. I have no idea what to do now

My daughter was on Advair, Singulair, and Zyrtec to control her severe asthma and allergies. We were so thankful that these medications kept her from having to be hospitalized 2-3 times a year for uncontrollable asthma attacks. About six months after she began taking these medications she began to have headaches, she had difficulty sleeping, she was irritable, she had stomach pains, leg cramps, and eventually depression and social withdrawal. She went from an outgoing and happy teenager to a bitter and angry person. In 2003 she committed suicide. Six months after her death reports started to surface about the link between singulair and depression and suicide. Perhaps for my daughter it was a combination of the three drugs. Whatever you do be cautious and do your research before taking any allergy or asthma medication. Go to the Singulair website and you will be astounded by what you read. Please try to get the word out about these medications.

I went to an on-campus health center and was prescribed Biaxin for a sinus infection. I had never taken it before, but the doctor said that it was the best thing because I might be immune to other antibiotics. That made no sense to me, but I didn't really question it. I just wanted the infection cleared, so I ran to the pharmacy as soon as possible and got the medicine.

First day: Took Biaxin at 9 in the morning. In a hurry, I read the directions wrong and only took one pill. I did fine until 3 pm, when I read the directions and took another pill. I didn't notice any side effects, and nothing really happened. My boyfriend was complaining that I was being irritable though, which I hardly ever am, but I didn't really pay attention to him. I had some stomach pains, which really hurt, but I didn't mark them off as being caused by Biaxin.

Second day (yesterday): Took Biaxin at 9 am, 2 pills this time. I was unable to concentrate all day, but I thought it was probably just the congested head and stuffiness. I went to bed around 12, and could not fall asleep. I was having racing thoughts about stuff that wasn't even real... I felt like I was in another world, like I was a different person. I finally fell asleep around 1, but I kept waking up. I woke up at 3:30 am today, and that's when the real ridiculousness started. I seriously just started crying my eyes out for no reason at all. I am not at all an emotional person. I rarely cry, even when something typically cry-worthy happens. This spell went on for over an hour. I had no idea what was going on, so I looked up "Biaxin depression" on Google, and sure enough there are tons of cases of this happening. How is this drug still on the market?!?!

I was feeling totally out of it, but I had enough coherence to head to the emergency room. I was crying my brains out while walking across campus to my car. For some reason I called my boyfriend, thinking that was smart. I couldn't even talk to him because I was crying so much. He was really confused I'm sure. I got to the ER around 5 am. I couldn't even talk to the receptionist without crying. I don't think I was even understandable. She felt really bad for me though, and when I couldn't find my health insurance card, she said not to worry about it. I only had to pay a ten dollar copay. I was the only patient there, so I got in right away. The doctor was really surprised when I told him about the Biaxin/depression ordeal, so he randomly pulled out his iPhone and looked it up. Weird, but hey... whatever. So he started talking all of this medical stuff, and was really amazed when I knew the name of the bacteria that Biaxin was supposed to kill that I had (plus of looking things up online). He didn't really question anything, probably because I was sobbing randomly... He gave me a prescription for my Augmentin, so maybe that won't be as horrible as this awful Biaxin. Doctors need to know about these very serious side effects. I went to Walgreen's to get my prescription filled, but the system was down, and they couldn't do anything. So, of course I started crying again. I didn't lash out on anyone. I just started flowing randomly. I am still crying at strange intervals...

So, I hope this was long enough to get my point across. Anyone who is prescribed Biaxin, please be aware of the depression you may face, and the severe stomach aches. I have never had any reaction to an antibiotic before, and I have definitely taken my fair share of them. Nothing like this has ever happened. Please take with caution.

Hi
I have had mirena for over 1 year and 10 months and completely changed my life Im 22 I feel always bloaded, gaing incredible weight, feel depress, stomach pains all the time n sometimes i feel like there's something wrong with me down there internally cant really explain it I have an average period flow well its completely disappear to just one lil miserable period with mirena, yes I miss my period (and no Im not kidding) let me explain why I feel like all that bleeding that i used to have now its the bloading the stomach pain like something it not leting by body work the way it supposed too n lots of headaches weird huh I know but honest . At first I thought it was me over reacting but now I see like many of you we are feeling the same I know Im crazy for waiting this long and personally would never ever recommend it my sister just had her lil baby grl she ask me like many of my friends and told her not to get mirena i don't want her to go trough with all those horrible symptoms I first thought I was over reacting and seriously going nuts but now Im proud to say my next visit for the removal is on the 18 of sept YES finally why wait so long i was AFRAID of getting pregnant again since im in college. And also because at the doctor they kept saying lil symptoms like that occur but they will decrease but they haven't they gotten worst I talk with my husband we are going to clases for natural birth control yes I know who has the time but trust me is the best choice for your body, not putting up with a bunch of crazy hormones. My mother was right she told women now women don't want to take the time to do the count for natural birth control but yet don't know is the best choice I honestly now know what she talking about are body is a precious temple and should not put it trough horrible thing we are going to regret As for me I just regret not taking this stupid thing before

My mother was given this drug, Lisinopril, because the doctor decided she had high blood pressure after she went in for a bladder infection (she's had these all her life, every now & then). The doctor also prescribed Nitrofur (please avoid THAT one like the plague - she was on the couch for a week in stomach agony). We didn't put 2 and 2 together on what was really going on until yesterday. She was on Lisinpril for 3 months and every 2-3 weeks had an episode of extreme stomach spasms, bloating and fatigue. These episodes have lasted 3-5 days each, keeping her on the couch in agony. I researched the internet and found out that Lisinopril is made from SNAKE VENOM, can you believe? Turns out lots of people have reactions from this, including coughing. There was one woman who had the exact same things as my mom and wouldn't you know it, stopped using Lisinopril and the episodes went away. Turns out this is an allergic reaction, something they say is rare, BUT I think it depends how long you take it and how sensitive you are. So my mom immediately stopped taking it. What's happening inside is something they call gastrointestinal angioedema (in layman's terms, internal hives). If you experience coughing, the hives are in your throat. If you experience the stomach pains, the hives are all in your intestinal tract and very possible more areas internally. So then I looked up and found an excerpt from "One Earth Herbal Sourcebook" on Google and found the author had experienced something similar, using ayervedic (indian) herbs to fix the problem. I couldn't find where to buy ayervedic herbs, calling Whole Foods Market with no success. Well, all over the world there are healing herbs that do similar things. So I did find 2 that would work. Marshmallow (the herb, not the campfire kind) will help relieve swelling internally. There is another herb called Goldenseal (don't use it if you have very high blood pressure as it can cause a spike) that has antibiotic and anti-inflammatory properties. Anyway, now you know what is going on inside - hives you can't see from snake venom. Take that to the doctors and see what they say. Maybe your just better off like we are to research yourself and find a natural answer from nature. I hope this can help others avoid the hell we've been through.

i had a cortisone epidural in my L3/L4 lumbar about 2.5 months ago.
30 seconds after procedure, i had severe dizziness and then fainted. Got up about 15 seconds later, i had no idea what had happened. My heart was racing and I felt out of it. I had the procedure in major hospital in Winston-Salem, NC, and they kept me for observation. I immediately felt different, i felt very anxious, nervous. Blood pressure was high. They admitted me to ER and they observed me for several hours. I had several bad 'panic attacks' where my heart unexplainedly increased to 130-150 bpm standing still. I felt extremely dizzy and light headed. They released me from the hospital and said i had a vasal vago reaction. I thought it was strange as i have had shots before with no problems. (doctor did hit a nerve with needle during procedure, very painful so i thought maybe that contributed to the fainting). For two weeks after the procedure i had trouble sleeping, irritability, nasaeu, stomach pains, bloating, chest pains, heart pounding, headaches, depression, dizziness and light headedness- thought i was dying at times. doctor's put me on a beta blocker to keep my heart rhythms under control. The meds made it even worse. Stayed on for about a month and a half then weened off. Nearly three months later, i still have extreme nervousness ,bloating. All the while doctor's all along said that it couldn't be the cortisone. I have not had any of these issues ever in my life, i knew it was the cortisone shot. This has been one of the most frustrating experiences of my life. Glad to see other people with similar experiences from this drug. I have seen neurologists, and cardiac surgeons, general md's about this and they all couldn't connect the shot to my symptoms. Cardiologist wanted to put me on a calcium channel blocker when i was off beta blockers, if it were there choice they would throw more drugs at it. I don't wish this effect of cortisone on anyone!!!!!!!!!!

i have been taking wellbutrin to help me deal with anxiety for a little more than a week. i thought it would take more time to have an effect, but i feel very calm. i even stopped smoking right off, which i didn't intend to do. The side effects are worse that i thought they would be. i have lost the ability to spell, my short-term memory is noticeably impaired, and i have trouble paying attention in class/at work. i feel very foggy and disconnected. i've also been having headaches, night sweats, and stomach pains, but they are mild.

I have been using NuvaRing since Aug. 4th and i have had very, very bad cramping and stomach pains that take my breath away. I have been experiencing discharge and just constantly tired. And my cramps hurt even worse when i have to go to the restroom. I cannot hold it for more than about five minutes because i really start to hurt. My sex drive has really changed. I went from wanting it everyday to "No lets wait til the weekend " but then i'm too tired. I have been so thirsty, it just seems like my mouth stays dry. I have even been getting tension headaches and that mouth watering nausea feeling. After two miscarriages I was really hoping to have found something that will work for me, but i don't think i can take this anymore.

I took avelox one time, about an hour after I took it I felt like I was having a horrible asthma attack, I couldn't breathe, I tried my inhaler but it was no help. Then I became so incredibly hot and started having these horrible stomach pains. I had to lay down on the bathroom floor they were so bad. I called my mom who rushed over to take me to the Emergency room which is a good thing because by the time we got there I was covered in hives and could not breath and this all started about an hour to an hour and a half after taking avelox.. This stuff is toxic and should be removed from the market immediately if not sooner.

I had Mirena inserted one week ago and there was some minimal cramping directly after the insertion but I have had nothing ever since and I am hoping it remains that way. I am so sorry to hear of all the negative side effects that Mirena is causing some women but I am interested in hearing some of the more positive feedback.

I was given Doxycycline to prevent infection from an HSG procedure. I took one the night before the procedure, two the day of and one the morning after. So total of 4 capsules of 100mg each. I'm supposed to take the full course, which is 6 capsules, but I'm going to stop now. After the 4th capsule I started having bad stomach cramps, a bit of nausea and severe diarrhea. I know the risks of not completing the course but I'm not going through these stomach pains again. No more Doxy for me! I have a similar bad reaction years ago to an antibiotic called Augmentin. I guess I have to avoid those 2 kinds of antibiotics in the future. After reading all the posts, I can't believe they still prescribe Doxy to people. It seems horrible.

I'm on my 3rd month of Yaz and I couldn't be happier. I was on ortho-tricyclen for a year and a half but my PMS was getting horrible and I was retaining water like you wouldn't believe (I was actually gaining 10 pounds of water!). Once I switched I get no PMS at all. No aches, no soreness (my boobs would get unbelievably sore and would sting if touched or bumped even in the slightest way), no mood swings. I didn't have any breakthrough bleeding (I'm wondering if it's because I finished my last pack of ortho and went on to yaz on schedule?) and haven't had any side effects EXCEPT for stomach pains the day before I get my period, but it's not so bad that I can't go on with my day (and truthfully, prior to yaz, my stomach gave me problems the whole week before my period -- and that has ceased.). I know some people experience bad things while on yaz, but I have to say, it's working really well for me. Everyone reacts differently to medicines. Read the sheet and report anything to your doctor.
