My allergies caused nearly constant painful sinus pressure, drippy nose (I should have bought stock in Kleenex to profit from my box-a-day use), asthma, getting gradually worse all the time--it was as though I'd had the flu for 10 years (I'm 54). I was taking Claritin in the morning and Zyrtec at night, which only toned down the most severe symptoms. I was on Prilosec as well, as one doctor though acid-reflux might exacerbate the asthma. My family and I are avid hikers, but I haven't been able to breathe well enough to join them for years, even with daily Ventolin and Flovent. I've only been taking Singulair for two weeks, but it has made all the difference. I feel "normal" instead of sick for the first time in a long time. So, for me, it does work. But my stomach's been killing me--like a bleeding ulcer (which I had 25 years ago). I'm hoping that will subside or going back on Prilosec (expensive!) will counteract it. I've also had the weirdest dreams--very vivid and disturbing. Because I did research online before taking Singulair (Doctor uttered not one syllable about side effects), I recognize the dreams are from the Singulair. Because I understand what is causing them, I can easily set them aside when I wake up. I think anyone who's had mental or emotion problems could be sent over the edge by the dreams unless they had a clear understanding and acceptance that the allergy drug caused them. I would be easy to think something was wrong with you to dream such bizarre, violent stuff. (I'd give examples, but I've truly trained myself to forget all about the dreams as soon as I wake us, so I don't remember the dream events now.) I'm quite concerned about children taking this drug. Maybe not everyone has this disturbing-dream side effect, but how could you explain them away to a four-year old? How would you even know if a younger child was having them? Even children old enough to comprehend shouldn't be subjected to horrific mental images, like the 16 year old above. A tip for people who Singulair helps, but they have the weird dreams--try Melatonin (over-the-counter supplement) at bedtime. I've used it to help me sleep in the past when life events kept my mind too active to sleep for several days at a time. Unlike sleeping pills, it doesn't make your tired the next day, you can wake up easily, and it's not habit-forming--it just lets you drift off on days you otherwise can't. Since I'm concerned about the long-term effects of anything taken frequently, I don't take Melatonin very often, but I did try it after the fourth day of Singulair dreams. I had no memory of weird dreams when I woke up, so it seemed to work, and I didn't remember dreaming the next night either. I only tried it that one day because, as I said, I've trained myself to not be bothered by the dreams.

For the past few days I have been getting extremely bad headaches, to the point that it makes me cry! So I took 2 excedrin migraines and a few hrs. later I began to get extremely nauseous, shacky, disorientated, and my heart started to beat really fast. Before I knew it I was slouched over the toilet vomiting! I then recalled the same thing happening to me a few months ago when i took excedrin migraines for a very intense migraine i had. I am never going to take those pills again. I dont want to push my luck andend up worse then I already have!

I'm feeling the same as many of you ladies on here- it's certainly breaking my heart for all of you too. If we had known then what we knew now....
I got my Mirena about 6 months after the birth of my daughter and then spiraled into some serious depression. I'm so horrified now thinking back about how angry and ungrateful I was to my husband- I returned everything he gave me for Christmas in an angry huff. My behavior was awful AND it wasn't me. Over the next two years I had serious mood issues felt pregnant all the time (I even took to buying those dollar store tests so I could relieve my suspicions each time but not spend a fortune). And then there were the headaches. I had always had hormone related headaches (a few a month) so they weren't really new to me, but it got to a point where I was having so many I went to a neurologist for help - he asked me to chart them, I fund I was having 14 to 16 days a month with pain. I think the "off" days were just off because I was still under the influence of the pain drugs from the day before. My husband and I were planning on a third anyway- and suddenly I really wanted this thing out! I took it out, here I am, 9 months later- headache free!!! 9 months of no headaches and the "freedom" came within days of removal. I have now been trying to get pregnant for 9 months too- my period returned immediately after removal (the one perk I loved of the Mirena was no period) unfortunately, I can't seem to get pregnant. This, from a woman who seemingly got pregnant just by her husband looking at her. Literally, 3 cycles pre-mirena, meant 3 pregnancies for me. We had to be seriously careful- I'm terrified that this thing has now caused me to be infertile. I have been tracking my cycles watching for my ovulation and I can't find it despite having a regular 28 day cycle. Don't get Mirena- it's just not worth it

I had the Mirena put in Oct 08 I just had it removed July 9th,2009.It is the worst BC out there.I do have post partum but this thing made everything worse.I woke up every morning with a headache,I wanted to throw up all the time but never did,I didn't want to eat most of the time I couldn't stay awake to take care of my kids no matter how hard I would try someone always had to be around to do it for me,my moods were so bad most days I hated everyone I would get mad for no reason cry all the time even over stupid stuff,I had so much pain in my pelvic area in my stomach and abdomen and my back.Right before I got it taken out I spent 4 days in the hospital with them doing tests trying to figure out what was wrong.I have had it out for 5 days now and I have started a period (which I haven't had one in months) and now I have clots coming out I still have some back pain but nothing like to what I had and my moods are getting so much better. My husband might even be able to go to work now because I'm not as tired as I normally am.I hope they have one of those Class A suites so we can get so money for the pain and suffering that we all went through and what our kids and husbands had to go through.

I am a 32 female and on my third day of taking Avelox and its driving me crazy. I haven't slept nearly two days. I am so tired and I haven't been able to eat anything as well because as soon as I put food in my stomach it doesn't want to stay long. I am also so bloated and very jittery and have very bad mood swings and very irritated with things. I haven't been able to do anything I have no energy and as soon as I would stand up I have to sit back down because I get so dizzy and light headed and ready to faint and then vomit. I have been doing that as well. Ive called my doctor and told me to continue to take the med and they are just side effects that will go away in time. Well I can say that these pills made there way into the toilet and are washed away somewhere. And I cant believe that I would spend the amount of money on these pills $120.00 to feel the way that I do. My eyes burn and also cant stand the sunlight. Its summer time and I love being outside and cant. I haven't experienced depression yet and don't plan on it. I guess I will just let this runs its course and eat plenty of chicken noodle soup. I know the next time the doctor wants to prescribe this med for me I am just going to come out and say I AM ALLERGIC to it.. Does it count that since ive been on it that my nose has been itchy and my hair feels like its crawling and I always bite my lip now..I wouldn't advice anyone to take this medicine. Its not worth being more sick then you already are and I am right there with everyone else if there is a lawy suite against this drug I am right there with it

I'm a 36 years old with now real history of bp prob. but my family do. I had a few occasion with an evalted bp ove a 8 month period. I was recommend by the ER doctor to start taking amphenol first then the cardiologist recommend this one. I should have stayed skeptical about taking any meds. I just start taking the lisinopril med at10/12.5mg for 1 week now and everything I am reading i am having most of those side effects. I wished i would have checked this site out first. I sleep most of the day, stomach aches dizziness etc.

I've been taking Microgestin 1.5/30 since February of 2009 and I just recently started feeling side effects yesterday. I get pounding headaches, feel nauseous and tired. Is is possible to feel side effects now even though you've already taken it for some time. I recently missed a pill because i usually take it in the evening after dinner but forgot to. So I took my the pill as soon as I remembered. I usually don't eat breakfast, can eating the pill at a different time on an empty stomach cause me to have side effects. After the side effects go away, should I start the pill again or switch to a different pill.

I an 34 and have one child, 7 years old. These are the changes I have experienced since I started the Mirena in December 2008. Each is something that wasn't the case before.
Until now, May 2009, I have gained 15 pounds. My stomach is bloated, my hair oily, no sex drive, and depressed and tired all the time. I get a lot of infections, and a yellow-brown discharge all the time. Spend a fortune in pads/pantiliners. I get joint pains on my legs and hips, and my nails have become brittle. I itch a lot like something bit me. My period is lighter.

Hi all! Well I got my mirena taken out on Wednesday. The Dr. was very sweet I told her my symptoms and she said lets take this out then! While she was down there she said " Hmm I'm going to look at a swab under the scope." She came back in and said that the mirena gave me a bad infection! I had to take some strong one time antibiotic that killed my stomach! I can't wait to start to feel better. I did notice I can see a lot better then I did, no more blurry eyes. The last 3 1/2 years have been utter hell for me. I've been in and out of different Dr. offices not finding anything. I was dizzy all the time, I started out small after I delivered my baby and gained 60 lbs since it was put in. I had a shooting pain on my right side, horrible anxiety attacks, blurred vision, fuzzy mind, head aches, ovarian cysts, lower back pain and bloated belly. I am so relieved I got this disgusting thing out of my body!!! I hope my life will go back to normal now.

I'm 22 and have had my Mirena since April of 2006. At first I thought it was the best thing ever to have because I didn't have to worry about taking the pill on time, the patch that never stayed or having a shot that i don't like. My periods stopped completely within a month and I haven't had any since. I have recently felt like i am pregnant again due to the fluttering feelings in my stomach the tenderness of my breasts and the sensitive smell. My stomach cramps during certain positions of sex. Within in the last year i have noticed that i'm losing hair, my moods vary from day to day. I feel a constant pain in my back and fear that it has punctured through my uterus. I am planning on having it removed as soon as I can get a doctors appointment. I am ready to have the pain go away but the periods not to come back.

am a 61 year old male and after a heart attack 7 years ago they put me on Lisinopril. I gained 20 pounds and look pregnant with 8 months of starting it. My stomach looks like I am pregnant.
My mother called the other night and said she had symptoms of a stroke.
I took her to the emergency room and the doctor looked over her medications and immediately diagnosed Lisinopril as the culprit and it was not a stroke. She stopped taking Lisinopril and immediately the symptoms disappeared and her stomach bloating disappeared.
I went to my doctor today and insisted he take me off this poison . Over the last 7 years I have gained over 40 pounds, all in my stomach.
I am hoping this does me good.

I had open heart surgery August 23rd 2006 for a conginital heart defeat (Aortic Valve replaced with mechanical St Jude valve). I wanted a bio valve but Drs insisted I should have the mechanical valve because of my age (45 at the time).
Prior to my heart surgery I was a performer, singer/songwriter/actress/comedianne and I loved what I did. It was my life. Now, after 2+ years post-op and on Warfarin (7.5 mg daily for life) I feel like life has ended and I'm just a walking dead person. The effects I feel daily are as follows...
Dizziness
Severe Headaches
Blurred vision
Memory Loss
Fatigue
Weight Gain
Trouble concentating
Fluttering effect in my head/ears- Hard to explain
Hair loss
Unexplained pains in chest & left side of my body
Unable to sleep well
Tiredness- even when I've done nothing to be tired for
Nausea
Gas & Diarrhea off and on
teeth pain- Like I've drank something very cold
feeling in my head similar to a brain freeze- like you ate ice cream too fast
Night bleeds in my month- wake up with a mouth full of blood daily
What do think, is that enough??
I'm going in tomorrow for a cat scan because the headaches have been so bad they feel I need to be checked for brain tumor and/or internal bleeding. When I tell the Drs I think this is due to Wafarin they pratically laugh in my face as if to say, "Silly silly woman, don't be foolish! We know whats best for you. Remember, we saved your life!" Really? Did you?!
I want nothing more than to get off this rat poison and regain my life, but to do so could mean a stroke or heart attack. I would go under the knife again to have the mechanical valve removed and replaced with a biological valve, but do you think my insurance company (Kieser) would pay for a "silly" thing like that? Right!
Welcome to the greatest country in the world!

I am a 22 year old stay at home mom and have had the mirena for about a year and five months. I have bad mood swings, I feel like I am depressed every day about something. I have no sex drive what so ever. It makes me feel awful because my fiance thinks I am not attracted to him anymore. We are lucky if we have sex three-four times a month! And after we do, I feel sick to my stomach, like I could throw up at any time. I am irritable all the time. My hair falls out more than the normal. I lose my cool way too easily. I am in the process of getting it taken out, but the health department has not returned my phone calls to set up an appointment. Mirena may work for a few, but if you feel not like yourself anymore please do not get mirena or have it removed! I was never like this until I had it put in. I hope I haven't waited too late! It has helped my periods, but that is the only thing! I would rather my fiance to use condoms than having to go through this anymore! I feel exhausted every morning when I wake up and every night when I go to bed. I hate feeling like this, it is not worth it to me!

I was prescribed Cipro for 2 surgeries I had last week. When I picked it up from the pharmacy, the pharmacist told me to drink a lot of water as much as possible because it has a dehydrating effect and he told me it makes you more sensitive to the sun so if I have to be outdoors, to limit my time and apply sunscreen with a high spf as often as possible. I didn't go outdoors because of that, but Cipro made me very thirsty, but I expected it and drank plenty of fluids. Other than than, I did not have any problems. I never got constipated, it didn't bother my stomach but I always eat something when taking medications because I can't take them on an empty stomach. I didn't have any allergy problems, diarrhea, breathing problems or anything else. In fact, I liked this antibiotic much better than any other one I've ever been on.

I started Levaquin 500 MG on Thursday Aug. 29, 2008. I did not have any problem the first night. But the second day at about 3:00 PM I was working on my computer when my finger joints started to get stiff and my hands and arms started to shake. I just thought I was tired and forgot about it. At 1:30 AM August 30, I was awakened by someone shouting in my ear , You are going to die. I woke up in a sweat and my heart pounding. My hand were stiff and my knee joints were very tight. I also was in a very bad panic attack.
I went to my desk and wrote my wife a letter telling her how much I loved her and my dog Abby. I then proceeded to give her funeral instructions as to which funeral home church and buriel plot.. This writing was 3 pages long. I called my doctor and they as much told me this could not happen. My blood pressure was 240 over 120 when I took it. I took a valium and this calmed me down in 10 minutes. They gave me a new antibiotic for my Bronchitis. So I thought the nightmares and pain was over. Not so quick last night at 2:20 AM I was awake by the screaming in my ears you are going to die. I tried to call my wife but I could not get the word out for help. I tried to move my hands and fingers they would not move. Finally I rolled off the bed and yelled my wifes name she did not hear me.
This drug has set back my recovery from my panic attacks. This drug should be badded by the FDA. But as usual the government does nothing to help the public only big business.

I have posted my symptoms for about a week, I am HAPPY to say that I have only been off of YAZ 12 days and have already experienced some improvements. Im am sleeping again, and eating normally, the emotions have calmed down a little, I am still experiencing the cloudiness in the head, and a lil anxiety, and my stomach is still messed up occasionally. however I am able to get through the day without feeling like I am a completely Crazy person. I was only on it for a month, and I have never felt this way in my life, I heard that it will take about two months to completely leave your system, so everyone experiencing the effects of this EVIL drug, hang in there it will get better with time, you all are in my prayers. God Bless

I had the Mirena placed in on July 27, 2008 - as the weeks went on, I started to get dizzy a lot, BLURRY vision - I did not connect the two. I've been bleeding now for almost three weeks and I called the doctor because of that and she wants to see me on Friday. What also is happening is my stomach is VERY bloated that I feel like I am 4 months pregnant (and I have 2 kids - so I know what that feels like), I have terrible acne all of a sudden and oily skin and itchy scalp that I just want to scratch my head so hard.... is it me getting older or is it this thing??!!!?!?!?
