Ok so I have been taking lisinopril since July 20th, against the advice of my husband who is an RN. He said the side effects were hell and had long term effects. I however was convinced that my physician new better. I have had the weird dreams, night sweats, nausea, horible abdominal cramps. This mornig I woke up with a swollen face, severely swollen tounge to the point I could not swollow and was drooling. My lymph nodes and neck swollen as well. Needless to say we went right to the hospital before I stopped breathing. When I told the doctor what I was taking he said to immediately stop it, as it was a rare side effect of the lisinopril. GREAT Something to cure me almost killed me. After a cortisone shot and a week of prednisone I should be back to normal. Im going to listen to my husband now, eat less salt and excercise more. My mother, who is 86, was switched from hydrochlorothiazide to lisinopril on October 6. On October 15, her tongue started to swell. The pill's information said if this happened, to go to hospital immediately, so we did. She could have stopped breathing if the tongue had swelled much more! Her lips also swelled. This condition is called angioedema and can also affect the intestinal tract. She got Benadryl, but as of today, October 20, although the swelling has decreased, it is not gone. Now she is back on hctz.

My one year old daughter was prescribed Omnicef as a "last effort" before sending her to an ENT doc when 4 other antibiotics tried over a 2 1/2 month period refused to drain her right ear. She's only been on it one day, and was up SCREAMING twice last night (about 12 hours after taking the meds), acting like she was having HORRIBLE dreams. Once in the middle of the night it appeared that she temporarily stopped breathing, and when regaining her breath wasn't herself, acting all floppy-like. I was up with her all night. Once up, she appeared fine. But after her nap, she had a MAJOR bowel movement...1/2 of which seemed REALLY purplish/red--almost as if it MIGHT be blood, but not sure. After reading what everyone else has written, think I'll be calling her pediatrician. Her second dose of this antibiotic has her SCREAMING again--almost as if she's having serious intestinal discomfort. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ANTIBIOTIC!!!!!

I took Ambien for about 8 months and in the beginning it was great. I would sleep for 3 to 4 hours at a time uninterrupted (unheard of for me). However after a while I noticed some very unpleasant and embarrassing side effects that include: amnesia, sleep walking, apnea (felt oxygen deprived), headaches, would sometimes wake after sleeping for a while and try to make telephone calls and fall asleep while talking to my son (I can only imagine what he thought), I would have sex with my husband while hallucinating that he was wearing purple capes and had multiple sex organs, I didn't remember these events, I was told the next morning. I only kept taking it 3/4's of a 10 mg. tablet, because I needed to sleep but since I woke up feeling anything but rested I wondered how much I really slept. The most serious side effect happened 2 weeks ago. I woke to use the restroom 3 hours after taking & fell asleep on the toilet for almost an hour. I don't remember getting up but when I did I walked a few feet and collapsed, hit my nose & went into what appeared to my husband to be a seizure when it was most likely brought on by low oxygen intake due to AMBIEN. He thought I stopped breathing and called 911. I know that Ambien caused this and I destroyed all of my prescription and will never take it again. I had no problem stopping it as it almost killed me. I am back to my old self, not sleeping but that's better than permanent sleep. The makers of Ambien must know that this is happening to people but don't disclose it or they feel that advertising 7-10 days of treatment is recommended gets them off the hook. Long term Ambien use is extremely dangerous and may build up toxic levels in your blood but why aren't we told that. I had no addiction to this drug and all of you can stop too. Your just addicted to sleep and I don't blame you. Sleeps a problem for me too now but I will be too scared to ever take anything for it again. Good luck to you all!
