I am in pharmacy school, and we just learned about endocrinology - and I had known that Yasmin made my BP go up and what not, and I was starting to notice other things, and then as we learned about different endocrine topics, OCP always is mentioned as something that throws stuff out of whack...So that day (something like 5 days into a pack) I just stopped taking them - I was like "I can't do this to myself another day!" and stopped. How ridiculous - I needed a second period within ~2 weeks like I need a hole in my head, precious precious iron lost (I don't eat beef)...so now, I feel my heart racing, I'm betting my BP is still high, I've got a headache kind of constantly and I feel like I could burp all the time, but when I do, it is not satisfying as I would hope...I just feel kind of half-nauseous all the time and SO anxious - I have tried to turn symptoms into really alarming medical problems and can hardly fall asleep...I've been drinking water like it's going out of style in some sort of effort to flush the crap (both meanings - yasmin and poo) out of my system...In an anxious fit I searched just about every medical source I can think of, in every way I can think of, for symptoms associated with stopping birth control, and I can't find much about it anywhere! Arrggh...male-centered medicine strikes again!
Anyway, glad to have found you ladies - I don't feel so worried or alone...
For those of you who said they had bloating when they stopped - did you feel like you had to burp and couldn't, and how long did that last?

The way that all of you are feeling is not in your head I promise. I was on Yasmin for several months. I had heart palpitations, numbness of the toes and cramps in legs. These are only a few of my symptoms. I have had two children and never even had post partum depression, but while on Yasmin I was short with my children and husband and even didnt want to be around my kids. I was depressed while on Yasmin, at least I thought I was, I even went as far as to call the Dr. and get medicine for depression, I stepped back and took a look at my symptoms and how they only occured since my Yasmin use. I decided not to take one pill for depression to make up for another pill (birth control) I stopped the Yasmin and within a couple of weeks felt better. I wasnt clinicaly depressed, I was Yasmin depressed, big difference. Me personally, I am thinking about stopping birth control pills all together and using other barrier methods, I dont like the thought of putting extra hormones on my body. To all the women who are feeling the awful side effects of Yasmin, I urge you to please step back and compare the before and after you while on Yasmin, it is the pill I promise, they need to discontinue this drug before someone has a stroke or worse.

I started taking Yasmine in 2005 and almost imeemdiatley I started to have severe anxiety, depression, no sex drive at all and worse of all extremely bad migranes especially a few days before getting my period and during. My life had to be put on hold when I had my period because of the migranes. I stopped taking the Yasmine 3 weeks ago because I just couldn't take the migranes anymore. I have noticed I have gained some weight, my skin and hair feels alot oilier, and my hair has been falling out more than usual which is kind of freaking me out, don't have mood swings. My sex drive has gotten better which is a relief. I still don't know if my migranes will have gone away during my period. I'm just curious can anyone tell me if these side effects (hair loss, weight gain, oily skin) will go away after a few months.
