PLEASE REPLY! ok i wrote on this board about a month ago, and i was complaining about all the horrible side effects i was having.....however things have gotten much much worse since then, and i must admit that i have been bad. very bad. i am secretly winging myself off of the steroids b/c I cannot handle the depression and not being myself anymore... I've been on Prednisone for a year now and started winging myself from 15mg when I last wrote on here to now 10 mg... my hair is falling out in HUGE clumps, and I am NOT overexaggerating when I say I am going bald... does anyone know if this could be from tapering the drug, or would you say it is probably because of my condition possibly returning from tapering the drug too low???? I just want to know if IMMENSE hair loss is affiliated with steroids...I have not seen anyone else mention anything.

I had a Mirena coil fitted about 3 years ago. It was brilliant. I had it fitted because I suffered terribly with painful periods. Not heavy though. I had it for about a year, then had it removed to try for a baby with my partner. I already have a 19 year old son. I didn't get pregnant, now, I believe a good thing, and I had a second Mirena fitted. Let's put it this way, it's not acting like the first one did. I get headaches, hot flushes, bloating, depression, crying, muscle ache, especially arms and hands. I have dizzy spells, and can't stand around for a while as I feel faint. I am overweight, and always intend to do some exercise, and control eating habits a bit, but when your mind isn't right, how can you? It's a vicious circle. Obviously I appreciate that some of how I feel is my weight issue, but as I said, it's hard to do anything about it when you can't get the incentive because your mind is working overtime! The bleeding though, is basically the same as the first coil. It stopped near enough straight away, but at this moment I am having what isn't really a period, but is stranger and little heavier than spotting! I also get sharp pains now and again at the moment, and am very bloated. Doctor said about a month ago, that the coil could still be settling! We will see! Any replies would be great, I hope I haven't rambled on!!! Ha.. Pauline, Gloucestershire

I was proscribed Yasmin for acne problems but straight away, I experienced nausea. I didn't take a liking to it at all because it constantly made me want to vomit all the time. But still, I was willing to trial it to treat my acne. After about a month of using it, the vomiting sensation didn't go away. Does anyone else experience the same problem? Finally, I gave it up altogether and switched to Diane35. I found Diane35 a much better treatment for acne without the vomiting side affects.

hello Flowerbabies, thank you for getting back to me and for your words of kindness. Its so good to hear that its just a hormonal issue and not a mental one. Im stronger this month and I am trying to focus on positives in my life and not the negative that is in the past, thats how Yasmin effected me with anxiety, around the time of my period I seem to keep thinking of silly stuff that happened in the past and completly blow them out of proportion in my mind, the rest of the month I wouldnt even give it a second thought and I would be as happy as ever. My doctor said it was brought on by the Yasmin, so he took me off it straight away and suggested I give my body time off birth controll as he said it doesnt agree with everyone, I have to say he was very understanding. Im on Vitamin Bcomplex and a Vit B6 can you recommend anything else to help. Flowerbabies thank you so much for your words of encouragement it really means alot, look forward to chatting to you again soon

I took 10mg of Lisinopril for one year without problems. Then I had a flu with bronchitis. The bronchitis subsided but I frequently felt fatigued and had panic attacks. Also my feet started tingling when walking for more than 5 minutes. I stopped taking Lisinopril 4 weeks ago - the fatigue and panic attacks stopped straight away , the tingling hasn't stopped yet. Funnily enough my blood pressure has stayed down at 120 - 130 as well.

Hi Everyone,

Am I glad to have found this page! I've been on Yasmin for just over a month now and I am always absolutely exhausted. No matter how much sleep I have I cannot wake up in the morning am tired all day and I fall asleep almost as soon as I get in from work! I'm like an old woman and I'm only 21! I also feel really depressed, I'm not really a depressive person but I spent most of last night crying for absolutely no reason! I thought I was going mad but it looks like it may all be linked to this pill. I know this is a bit personal but I'm also experiencing major soreness after sex and it isn't due to dryness (if you know what I mean!) Has anyone else experienced this? I had this same problem when I was on Mycrogynon a few years ago but that took a while to kick in but with Yasmin it was almost straight away, I didn't have the depression and fatigue then though. Also, does anyone have any ideas as to what would be a better form of contraception other than just going back to condoms? Any advice would be very much appreciated! Thanks all x

i've been taking yasmin for a week now, and suddenly feel anxious, ill at ease, i've been irrational, moody and not wanted to see my friends.
i'm pretty in touch with my body but took yasmin as a measure to control my adult acne which was making me depressed, but not as depressed as this.
does anyone know of any side effects of stopping taking yasmin straight away?

Dear flower babies.
i have only onepiece of advice GET OFF THIS POISON NOW before it kills you. i wsa going through everything you have said and more and it got worse and worse. I was on ysamin for 3 years only experiencing like you did after a while not straight away. I have been off yasmin now since nov 05 and its been a low haul and many times i just wanted to lay down and die and yet i came back to this site each and very day and got encouragement from those around here who had been there. Get off now and start regaining your life again. I would get on a good mulitvitamin immediately and some magnesium to help rebuild all htat has been deplete. Its not going to be easy but start now and in time you will be able to cope with your children again i know i have 3 and it was so hard in the beginning and now its getting better even though i still have those bad days but more good than bad.

I had a heart attack in April 04 during a squash match. My business had been on the slide for about two years and two days earlier it had ceased trading. It was the two years of stress dealing with this situation that was the cause of the attack. There was a 90% blockage of the main right artery and a stent was inserted to open it up. Straight away the doctors proscribed a cocktail of drugs including Lipitor. After a three months I was only taking the lipitor. At the same time I was determined to get back to full fitness. I am 56 years old and very fit from the squash and I also used to race a bike at a high level 20 years ago so I started to train in earnest with a view to race again in 2005. It was frustrating as I seemed to fatigue easily. I naturally put this down to the after effects of the heart attack. Anyway I persevered with the training and got fitter. At the same time a pain started to develop in my upper left arm and my neck became very sore and stiff. I ended up going to see osteopaths and physiotherapists for teatment but nothing worked. On a spur of the moment decision I decided to stop the lipitor and rely on my diet to reduce my cholestrol. Out training with the guys I was getting back to my old self and was at the front on training spins and leaving them behind on the climbs. About four weeks later I was still suffering from the neck pains then I got my check up at the doctors. They told me that my cholestrol was elevated from the last readings and that I should definitely be taking the lipitor 40mg a day. I told him about the symptoms which he said were nothing to do with lipitor. Like a brainless idiot I took him at his word and started to take the 40mg a day. That was in February this year. There was no immediate change in my fitness levels. I raced a few events and did quite well but nothing like the standard I had been used to. Other muscle problems started to appear. My right foot on the pedal was now at a funny angle. My libido was now non-existent. At night in bed I was getting palpitations and my heart rate rhythym was very irregular with the heart stopping for about two/three seconds about six times a minute. My performances on the bike were getting steadily worse. In May I raced a 25 mile time trial and barely finished the distance totally exhausted. It was then that I researched Lipitor on the internet. I am very very angry to think that the medical profession can proscribe a drug with these side effects. Of course I stopped taking Lipitor immediately. That was 41 days ago. My heart rhythym is now normal, the palpitations stopped and libido back to normal, the soreness and stiffness in my neck almost gone. When riding my bike the foot on the pedal is now OK. My bike training is still suffering as my recovery is not very good though so it is unlikely that I will race agin this year. I am taking CoQ10 120mg L-Carnitine 500mg Lysine 1000mg Vitamin C 2000Mg plus Vitamin B supplements daily.
Please please do not take Lipitor as it is poison. It will proabaly take me anything up to six months to fully recover.

I had been on yasmin for about 8 months. During that time i was unusually moody and grumpy. There was a general lack of motivation and energy levels were pretty low. I stumbled across this forum after trying to find an explanation to my change of behaviour and decided to stop yasmin straight away. Its been 6 weeks now and i have to admit things are much better, I have started excersing, lost weight and hardly ever have a "crappy day".

I guess I'm lucky - I suffer periodically from "pimples" under the arms that turn to abscesses. I've had one drained surgically, two nearly at that stage and a few luckily gone away. I also had one on my leg that was surgically drained.
I was prescribed Doxyclcine and have been on it for a month.
I noticed sensitivity to temperatures - particularly sun. I would step outside and almost straight away feel my arms burning (I've never worn sun block on my arms, legs before). The burning leaves quite different reddedened areas - like blood spots.

My condition is very periodical and comparatively minor so I've chucked the doxy out today. Fingers crossed it doesn't recur again soon.

p.s. my skin condition only started after having children.

I only added this just in case someone else suffered in the same way - there don't seem to be any reports of it - only moer serious side affects.

I took Yasmin for about a year with no side effects at all then after a six month break I started on Yasmin again last week. I had headaches and nausea straight away and for the last couple of days I have been seriously depressed and had a panic attack last night (never had one before). I cant stop crying on and off without warning.

Has anyone else had this experience after having no symptoms the first time round? I feel like Im going mad.

Have stopped taking the pill, couldnt face going to work today.
