I am a 56 year old woman and have used Advair over the past two years, off and on. I started consistently again 1 1/2 months ago to prepare for a trip to Chicago. It didn't seem to help and in fact my heart raced at night so bad that I had to take something to sleep while on my trip. About two weeks after returning from Chicago I felt a choking feeling and looked in the mirror to find a rather large pocket of neck swelling about four fingers big and felt like fluid filled, not air. I went to emergency and the doctors did x-rays, two scans and found nothing. The swelling decreased the next day but I was unable to take a deep breath without excruciating pain. All this time I was still on Advair and Singulair. The emergency doctor was stumped and said to quit Singulair. When the breathing pain continued and was felt in the front below my ribcage and in the back I returned to emergency and they did new tests found nothing said Singulair was probably not the problem and attributed the swelling to a cyst that burst causing the fluid build up. I then had a x-ray while swallowing a barriam (sp)? solution saw nothing. Then an MRI that showed up normal and a ENT Dr performed a scope to find nothing in my throat. To this day I still feel a choking feeling especially when I try to sleep at night. I stopped taking Advair three nights ago and hope to find some relief soon. Doctors are stumped and have said "just watch the neck and make sure you come in to emergency right away if the swelling returns to the neck and blocks breathing." I hope this elimination of Advair helps my constant feeling of strain and choking in and around my esophogus.

My experience with Yasmin was awful!!! I had been on BCPs before with no problems(both were Ortho-something). I'd had no problems with depression, I was never one to cry much and I was very active. Well, I had a little spotting so my doctor switched me over to Yasmin thinking it might help and the spotting between periods did stop. For me, everything was fine at first. The depression came on slowly, but once it did it just got worse and worse. I was always exhausted, I never wanted to do anything, I felt out of shape and my heart would race when I tried to go hiking. I was suddenly crying all of the time and getting terribly upset about nothing, instantly. I began to seriously dislike myself and I was watching what had seemed to be the perfect relationship fall apart before my eyes due to the strain that had been put on it. I FINALLY realized that something was terribly wrong when I was standing in the middle of a beautiful forest on vacation at a resort with the love of my life and I was screaming at him for a reason I could no longer remember. Then I broke down into a hysterical fit of tears. I dug out the pamphlet I got with my pills and somewhere in the back it finally listed depression as a possible side effect. I rushed down to the computer and found so many women with experiences just like mine. I called my doctor to switch my perscription back to the pill I'd been on previously; she wouldn't do it. I finished my pack and haven't gone near the stuff since. That was in April/May. After a month I was feeling better--like a fog was starting to clear from my mind. By three months the mood swings were mostly gone and I was concentrating better and smiling a lot more. Now, I'm finally me again and my boyfriend and I managed to save our relationship (thanks primarily to his patience and understanding) and I'm excited about living again. Yasmin may work for some people but in my opinion it's just not worth the risk.

Hi,
A cardiologist prescribed Lisnopril 10mg for me three days ago because my BP was above 160/90 even though I was taking HCTZ. All day yestersday, I was extremely energyless. I went to the gym to see my trainer, but could not lift a finger to exercise. I feel like I have a fever, but I do not have one. I've had headache since yesterday. I slept 10 hours last night, but woke up still extremely tired and unable to function properly. I have dizziness, uneasiness, shortness of breath, tightness in the chest area, and I feel strain around my eyes. Today, I went to the emergency room, because I knew something was seriously wrong with my heart or that my blood count was low. There was nothing. After reviewing several postings on this site, I realize these are side effects of Lisinopril. As of today, I am off this. I wil see my physician on Monday. Hopefully, she will understand.

I took Omnicef because my doctor was not sure what kind of infection I had and he said Omnicef was a "well-rounded" drug. Meaning it deals w/all types of infections.
I had HORRIBLE headaches with this medicine. Completely opposite of everyone I've read on this site, I had constipation (where everyone else had diarrhea.) I also ended-up getting an intestinal yeast infection...Awful! My constipation & yeast infection eventually got so bad (no matter what I took for it) that I ended-up with (how embarrassing) a fischer. For those of you that do not know, that is a tear in the hole of your rear-end. It was severely painful and despite what I have taken to loosen my stool, I continue to have the awful tear to this day. (1 year after taking the medicine.) I went to gastro-entronologist and he said the only way to fix it (if not by laxitives) is by surgery. I'm hoping my injury will eventually heal by taking various laxitive stimulants.
I would not reccomend this drug to ANYONE!
Sorry for the gross details, but they need to be told to explain the extent of the injuries...

I am amazed to read these side effects. I have been on the nuvaring for a little over a year now. The things I was experiencing I never associated with the ring. I have gained weight, feel so overly tired everyday, and have noticed that I get more headaches, and that I get pain in my chest that feels like the muscles are tightening making it hard to take deep breaths sometime. Then to top it all off I have been having pain in my gland in my neck and the gland gets rock hard. My boyfriend also tells me that I seem overly paranoid and stressed which has put a strain on our relationship. He is the one that suggested I look at the side effects people are experiencing.
My only problem is I cannot take the pill, as that made me sooo depressed that I could not stand my self. I need to be on some kind of low dose hormone, and the last time I took myself off the pills I got pregnant and almost died.

I WAS ON LUPRON FOR 6 MONTHS. IT WORKED GREAT FOR MY ENDO SYMPTOMS BUT IT CAUSED SO MANY OTHER PROBLEMS. THE HOT FLASHES WERE UNREAL. I WAS NOT MYSELF,MOODY,CRYING ALL THE TIME. IT PUT A HUGE STRAIN ON MY MARRIAGE, FAMILY,AND FRIENDS. I GAINED WEIGHT 10 LB. THE FIRST MONTH.AND ANOTHER 10 THE SECOND SHOT AND STILL COUNTING.LEG PAIN,BREAST LUMPS,DRY SKIN. IT HAS BEEN ALMOST A YEAR SINCE MY LAST SHOT. I HAVE ALL MY ENDO PAIN BACK, IT CAME BACK ALMOST AS SOON AS THE LAST SHOT WORE OFF. MY DR. WANTS ME TO DO IT AGAIN. BUT I WOULD RATHER SUFFER FROM THE ENDO. I STILL HAVE WEIGHT ISSUES, TERRIBLE MIGRAINS, SADNESS. I DON'T FEEL LIKE I AM THE SAME PERSON FROM BEFOR THE SHOT. I AM 30 YEARS OLD AND FEEL LIKE AN OLD LADY. I CAN BE FINE ONE MIN. AND THE NEXT IN SO MUCH PAIN I CAN HARDLY WALK OR SIT. I DON'T WORK BECAUSE I ONLY FEEL "GOOD" A FEW DAYS A MONTH. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY DR.'S WON'T LISTEN TO THE LADIES WHO HAVE TAKEN THIS DRUG. DO NOT TAKE LUPRON.

I just got married a few weeks ago and I didn't want to have sex with my husband on our wedding night!! I did for him, but I had no interest whatsoever. I couldn't understand why until I came to this site. I came here because last night was the final straw. I thought that maybe my sex drive was gone because of something of him, so I decided to make myself ready for him. I couldn't even get me "ready". Dry as could be. For me, this med is a strain on my new marriage!

I have had many different reactions from this drug. I was given the prescription for osteomylitis from a compound toe fracture. I had 2 infection strains and after the Augmentin only cured one strain, this drug was a last resort to kill the other strain. It works, but I am getting boils in the genital areas, having abdominal cramps, extreme joint pain and weakness even after 2 weeks of being cured. My alimentary canal will be in pain much like mild cholitis for months but the toe appears to be saved, and that is definitely a miracle in itself. I am a 7 day a week exerciser, and my life has been altered emotionally and physically after taking this nasty drug. I recomend not using this for any reason.

I have been on Advair for about 1 month. It has helped my asthma but I am concerned about my throat. Sometimes it is such a strain to speak. At first I thought I was getting laryngitis but then I came to the conclusion that it was a side effect of the Advair. I do not get soar throat symptoms but I am really concerned about the possible damage this drug may have on vocal cords, larynx or the throat in the long term. I just assume go back on an albuterol inhaler which helped my asthma just as well. I have used singulair (the directions say to take at night) but I have to make sure that I'm practically asleep, otheriwise, it makes me sick to my stomach and horrible acid reflux.

I am 20 years old and have been on Advair 250/50 for 5 days. Already I am experiencing extreme fatigue, a sort of spacy, hypnotic feeling, anxiety, depression, mood swings, dry mouth, thick phlegm, constant throat clearing and it is ruining my life. I'm in a tap dance company and have not been able to perform even simple rountines. It has also placed a strain on my relationship with my boyfriend due to the mood swings, depression and increased irritability. I am harder to be around and he doesn't understand why. I am so glad I checked this site. I thought I was going crazy.

I had quite a battle to be put on low dose Prednisone. I had to have pain relief so taking Prednisone was like making a "pact with the devil". I couldn't take Nsaids because of Urinary infection and the other drugs raise blood pressure or are addictive. (My father's family were all alcoholics)!
As far as side effects go, I may be experiencing an increase in tendon and ligiment strain and muscle spasm. However, I was experiencing some extremes of that for years.
Thank God for Prednisone, even if I expire from using it. No one should be in the pain I was in. My fp dr. told me "My license is more important then your pain". A Mayo Clinic dr. is treating me. JH

I was on the Ortho tryclen for 6mo and I gained 15 lbs...I switched to Yasmin which made me lose weight 2lbs immediately and i was fooled into thinking that it was better. Slowly the weight started creaping on...I have been the same size(2) for four years...I have now jumped up a full size and am a size 4. I was always considered to be thin...and now, even my mother has mentioned my that I have gained significant weight and that i should stop eating and exercise more...the thing is, my diet has not changed at all. On top of it all my libido is non-existent and it has caused a strain on my relationship. Today will be my first day off of the pill...

I am 24 years old and was on Yasmin for two months. I have had negative experiences with BCPs in the past (tried Mircette, Alesse, Ortho-Tri, Desogen) but nothing was as bad as my experience with Yasmin. I stopped taking Yasmin almost two months ago d/t experiencing the listed side effects:
-severe anxiety attacks
-depression
-crazy mood swings (I cry for no reason at all sometimes)
-joint aches
-weight gain
-blurred vision
-diarrhea
-nausea/dry heaving
-paranoia
-dizzy spells
-constant worrying and self doubt
-headaches
and there's more...
After being off Yasmin for almost two months, I expected things to be back to normal, but I'm not quite there yet. I still experience anxiety attacks, depression, mood swings, nausea, and this strange sense of self doubt. I have never felt this bad in my entire life and I totally regret taking this pill. I want to be my old self again and feel normal because this sucks and it has caused a strain on my ability to do my job as well as a strain on my personal relationships with my boyfriend and friends. E-mail me if any of you are experiencing the same side effects (especially the anxiey, depression, and mood swings) so I know I'm not just going crazy for no reason. Best wishes to you all.

I am 65 years old and started taking Lipitor (10mg) in November of 2003. Within days I strained my back doing something that should not have had this kind of impact. It took months to recover which was unusual for me. I should note that my lower back has given me problems in the past but this one was the worst and took the longest to heal. I also had the knee pain that many others have reported but that subsided within a few months.
In August of 2004 I had the worst lower back muscle spasms of my life and actually ended up in hospital for two days as I could not move without my back going into spasms. Muscle relaxants and anti-inflamatories solved the spasms in a few days. Since then I have not been able to get back to full strength in spite of physical therapy and religiously following an exercise regimen. It seems that if I do anything to put any strain on my back, it cannot handle it. I am/have been, very active all my life and still play tennis and golf regularly although I now question whether my back can stand up to golf.
I assume that lipitor is the main culprit here as my back has not responded to the exercise program.
I see many other similar cases on this web site but would be interested if anyone has had this same experience.

VERY STRANGE SIDE EFFECT. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF ANYTHING SIMILAR HAS HAPPENED TO YOU. I cannot find anything like it in the available literature.

I had forgotten to take my paxil the night before. I had about 3 cups of coffee about 5:30am. This side effect occurred about 10:00am. I was driving in bright sunlight into the sun. Suddenly, there was a strain in my brain and a loud snap or pop in my brain and sudden flashes of light like a strobe or lightning. It went away as soon as it was over (.25 seconds) and did not occur again.

I think my psychiatrist thinks I am crazy. She is asking now if I am hearing voices.

Where can I get some confirmation on this side effect?

PLEASE HELP!

James

After taking amoxicillin, inevitably I get a yeast infection. but there's only one way I've found to get around that. I know it sounds yucky, but it's better than spending $15 and many days with that stuff in you than this. Get nonfat, plain, low sugar if you can find it, yogurt. Mix equal parts water and yogurt (about a cup) into a hot water bottle/douche (get them at pharmacies). Douche anytime there is the slightest twinge of a yeast infection. It will give you back your life again. I promise. p.s. acidophilis pills don't work for me, i think the strain is too strong by now.

I am an active 33 year old male. I was prescribed seven days of 500mg levo for a persistent cough. I continued to commute to work by bicycle but otherwise did not strain myself. I drank lots of water as well. I experienced no side effects at all. Still had the cough though after seven days of the drug. The only problem I experienced was reading this message board after the first dose and feeling really scared. But nothing bad happened to me. Good luck!

My husband is on this for bipolar disorder and I don't know if it's the medication working or the fact that I was about to leave him that made him act more stable...but either way, he's doing a lot better. He's also on paxil for depression. His job requires a lot of physical work and strain, so when he's at home in the evening relaxing or laying down-he's out! In other words, it can make you feel tired and lathargic. I was on this medication before too and it not only made me tired, but I was hungry all the time...not starving, but I just wanted to eat all the time. My advice: get checked regularly because this drug is hard on your liver...or is it your kidneys? One of those:) and exercise because you'll need the energy boost that working out gives a person. Hope this helps.

I began taking levaguin on Wednesday. Thursday morning, upon awaking, I noticed tht my achilles tendons seem tight and sore, Friday moring, 10 minutes into my typical 3 mile jog, I pulled up with pain in the back of my thigh that was a either a strain, pull, tear or cramp. At any rate I could not continue to run. Saturday afternoon, getting off the couch, I felt the same sensations in the back of my leg, behind the right knee. Today, Sunday, these pains have now extended to my right calf.

After reading the experiences of other Levquin users, I believe that these muscle and tendon problems stem from taking the drug. Because I must cure the condition for which the drug is perscribed, I will continue with the recommended dosage for a while and hope that the side effects go away.

However, I would caution others, particularly those who are acustom to regular, stenous exercise, that this medicine may lead to damage of their muscles and tendons.
