I started on 40mg of simvistatin 3 and a half months ago,after being on them for a week i started to get bad headaches and felt really fatigued,so when i told my gp she said its just a matter of your body getting used to them,so i continued taking the pills i seemed ok for a while but 5 weeks ago i started with palpitations,then i got indigestion, and general discomfort in my chest,weakness in my arms and legs, headaches and the fatigue came back worse than ever,i haven't been back to see the doctor,i stopped the pills yesterday,the indigestion has gone already,i want to lose about a stone and try to lower my cholesterol myself ,but how can you exercise when you feel so weak and tired,my cholesterol level is 5 but because i suffer high blood pressure the doc said it needs to be 4.3,does anyone else suffer from the same and is on this medication?

I started using the ring exactly two weeks ago. I started taking naps almost every day. Sleep during the day has NEVER been an option for me let alone a necessity. I decided to research the ring today when I noticed that my belly was extremely bloated. After reading some of the side effects, I can recall a strange feeling of hopelessness and sadness that I've had these last couple of weeks. (I've never been depressed in the past). I've also had very strange dreams. I should have known that an easy BC fix was too good to be true. I was on Depo before I had my daughter 5 years ago and it caused serious bone loss. I loved it because of the convenience and never had an indication that it was causing bone loss (thankfully a new GYN decided to take a bone scan as a precaution since I had been getting shots for 5 years. Luckily I was young enough that my bones are now normal.) Needless to day, I pulled the ring today!

Thank goodness for this site!

Doctor prescribed 10 mg. Lisinopril four months ago for borderline HBP. Since then I have suffered from an itchy rash, chest and shoulder pain , extreme fatigue , low concentration and memory loss , a dry cough so annoying that I live on cough drops and a strange feeling in my throat like a lump is always there , and most recently I have developed pain and swelling in the lymph nodes under my armpits. I also have dizzy spells so bad that I have almost fainted a couple of times. Once it was so bad that I could not even get out of bed. I am convinced that it is the Lisinopril because I did not have these problems before I started taking it. I am going to stop taking this poison and see a Naturopathic Practitioner. I have recently read that fish peptides also called bonito peptides have been used successfully in treating HBP and is a safe and natural alternative to those Pharma drugs that cause so much misery. I will keep you posted.

Hi all! I have recently started to have a very strange feeling and thought I would post here to see if anyone else can elaborate on it.

I switched from private healthcare to the VA system in March 2008 and the MD at the VA immediately switched me from Toprol XL 100mg per day to Norvasc ( Amlodipine Besylate) 5mg, a generic version and from Zetia 10mg to Zocor. This is mainly due to the fact that the VA does not have the Toprol XL or the Zetia in their pharmacy.

I am a very active person, work out 3 times per week, play tournament level racquetball and generally stay very active. I was feeling fine on this medication for almost 3 years with the only side effect being a little light-headed feeling with hard physical activity. Approximately 2-3 weeks after changing meds I started to get this lumpy feeling in my chest and then it started to progress into an air hunger feeling which felt like my breath was being taken away for a split second. I called the MD at the VA and requested to go back on metoprolol tartrate, which is what the VA has in place of the metoprolol succinate (Toprol XL). The air gasp feeling has only gotten worse and with any excertion I become tired now and start to get the gaspy feeling. Very scary. When it started to get real bad one evening I called 911 and went to the emergency room. Tests came back "ridiculously normal" the ER MD stated. Went back to the VA and the same MD, who doesn't listen, says I am under stress and prescribed me Paxil. I am completely lost as to what to do. I am going in to have another EKG and a holter monitor put on as well as a stress test.

Does anyone have any advice for me? I am desperate to get this resolved as fast as I can. Feel terrible lately and the MD doesn't seem to be listening to me.

Help!

Today I decided that I am not taking Lisinopril anymore. I was sick with flu like symptoms about 2 months ago. I went to my doctor and and was treated for a bronchial infection. I was prescribed and antibiotic and also a blood pressure medicine. My blood pressure was high and had been for some time. The illness did leave but now I have new problems. For some reason the first bottle was a white pill, then changed pharmacy, and now a small peach colored pill. The side effects were worse on the white pill, less but still life altering on the peach pill. Since taking the medicine here are some of the things I have experienced.
- severe coughing, so bad that my neck back and head where killing me;
- loss of bladder (not sure if from coughing or additional side effect);
- hair falling out;
- tightness in my chest;
- difficulty breathing (using inhaler multiply times a day vs. when sick or 2 or 3 times a year);
- muscle pain;
- memory loss (small black out periods with no recovery of the memory for that time);
- feelings of dread; some intermittent periods of severe, some mild confusion;
- sleeping so soundly did not hear people in my home all night, loud music, doors opening and closing, in my room standing next to me talking (normally a very light sleeper);
- confusion for 15 to 20 minutes upon waking, did not know what time it was, where I was, what day;
- falling asleep at desk of if parked in my car;
- digestive issues, severe gas, intermittent watery stool and constipation;
- short tempered, inability to cope with my normal ability to function in high stress level on job (I actually left my job of 8 years on a week ago);
- strange feeling in the middle of forehead and intensifying to almost a muscle kind of pain just in the center.
- the worst was the yesterday, I felt like I did not want to live...just like quitting, thank GOD my children love me so much that they kept trying to keep me engaged in conversation and stayed with me all afternoon until it finally passed. I did not take the medicine yesterday or today. I called my Dr. to have my chart updated today that I will NOT be taking this medicine anymore. I will walk everyday and get on a diet that is fat and salt restrictive, I want to live and do it sanely.

Having just had my 3rd baby 7 months ago i thought my side effects were just part of being a busy mother. However i have been suffering severe headaches for the past 5 months and they got the better of me. I had brain scans and MRI's that all turned out to be normal and the doctor said it must be something else causing the headaches. I never thought it could be the Mirena but i just had this strange feeling that should get it removed. The doctor did it yesterday and i feel clear headed and better already!
I also felt fatigued, had terrible acne, broke out in rashes on my thighs, my husband hated it as it would probe him in certain positions and i was bleeding for weeks on end!!!!!!

I started taking two 160mg tablets of sulfameth a day about a week ago in conjunction with prednisone and hydroxyzine for a bad case of contact dermititis. Yesterday I woke up with a crazy fever, pressure in my sinuses and headache. I got off work and went to sleep at 5:30pm. Around 9pm I woke up covered in hives. The fever had broke, but this was a new beast. The hives started out all over, but there were not many. Over the next 24 hrs they spread so that now I am mostly a giant red splotch. It itches like hell and for some damn reason I feel wired. I can't get to sleep. I keep pacing around.

I went to the ER and they said it was probably the sulfameth. They told me to discontinue use and put me on a higher dose of prednisone, zantac and diphenhydramine.

I am almost sure it was the sulfameth. I have been on prednisone before without anything like this happening. I have never taken the sulfameth before this and I rarely took the hydroxyzine they gave me so I doubt it caused it.

The reaction to the sulfameth is seriously 100 times worse then what they gave it to me for. I would rather have just not gone to the doctor and suffered through what I had before than deal with this. It's a sleepless, itching hell. I will never take a sulfa drug again.

I can only wonder how bad it would have been had I not already been on prednisone when the allergic reaction hit. So 24 hrs into it and the hives are getting worse. Hopefully the prednisone and benadryl will end it soon.

Let me just start off by saying that I have not had any allergic reactions to medications before. I don't have allergies to any foods or external stimuli like dust or pollen. But literally two minutes after taking Avelox, I started sneezing uncontrollably. Then my nose filled with mucus and I started itching all over my body, most notably on my arms, legs, and scalp. Then I felt that my skin was burning. I looked in the mirror and my face and body were bright pink. I called the pharmacist and she told me to take Benadryl and if my throat started to close up I should go to the hospital. Well, I didn't have any Benadryl, because I don't have any allergies, so I had to drive three blocks to the CVS. At this point, my face is starting to swell up: my eyelids, my nose, my lips and my ears are twice their normal size. I have hives all over my arms and legs. I'm shaking because I feel so cold--my body temperature was only 94 degrees. I took two Benadryl but it didn't really work until I took the 2nd dose four hours later. I ended up at the hospital because I felt like there was something stuck in my throat and was unsure whether that meant that my throat was closing up, but they were so busy that I never made it past triage, where my blood pressure was only 80/40 and my heart rate was 120. We waited in the waiting room until I was able to take the second dose of Benadryl and left. All this after only one dose. I would advise extreme caution with Avelox.

I took Effexor XR for 6 months. The first week I couldn't sleep but that was the only side-effect, that is, until I quit. I decided to quit when I noticed that there was no difference in my mood and when I missed a day I would get a strange feeling. "Brain-shivers" is what they're described as. Almost like a drunk and wobbly feeling. After I stopped taking it the "shivers" lasted about 2 weeks and the first few days were the WORST! I went to the Dr. to get gradually get off but after taking the first one (37.5mg) and still felt the same - cold turkey is was! I wouldn't take it again. It didn't help and the withdrawal was terrible.

I have been taking this for 3 days and I am a little worried. My legs feel kind of tingly and sore (started about an hour after i took the 1st pill). I am not swollen or anything...this is pretty much my only side effect, but I can't get a hold of my obgyn to ask her about it, since I have to wait 2 months to get an appointment with her...I dunno. The leg cramps can't be a blood clot this soon? This site is really worrying me now.

It is not a shooting pain like they say in the pamphlet Warning Signs, just kind of a dull pain. I had a lot of leg cramps as a child and this feels just like it, but more mild.

I've been taking ultracet for a little more than a year, for chronic cramps that make me very ill and immobile. I was wondering if any of you itch constantly? I feel so self conscious about it, but I can't help it! Other than that I have this strange feeling of calmness and its as if I'm in a quiet bubble...though any light and sound is extremely intensified for me. Anyone else like this? And I have to ask people to talk very softly to me. I become very sleepy but the moment I close my eyes I have very strange images and thoughts, making sleep difficult. I really hate taking this medication, but its been the only one that helps in terms of pain.

I have never experienced a feeling like this before. I had vivid, unexplainable dreams. The first night taking it, I had a strange feeling in my throat and woke up almost choking(that was on the list of side effects, closing of the throat. I kept myself up all night and now I feel like yesterday and today was one big long day. Now I'm getting the feeling again while I'm awake and am afraid to go asleep. I also felt very, very weak and dizzy all day. This is not worth it, I want my old self back already and this is only my second dose. I read up on Shen Min DHT blocker and want to give that a try. I'm 20 years old, have long hair and want to keep it, I love it like a child.

I have been in this rx for nearly 8mos. I have a very nagging cough which I though as allergy related, a bothersome something in the right side of my throath that comes and goes, but causes me to kep a bottle of water near by. I get this strange feeling of numbness, or fullness in my head as well, as if I need to ly down immediately or pass out, this last temporaraily, but comes and goes, in addition I get a tingling in my leg area maybe some 20 minutes or so after taking, and some numbness. The weirdness is I have to sleep within 2 hours of taking even if I awake, It will make me very sleepy, and thats on a half pill. I really need to see my doctor. Until, we must take care of ourselves and one another.

@twogirlsmum:

I'm very relieved to hear that you're not goin to take Mirena, because I really read of so many women suffering in a very similar way as we all do here from Yasmin...

<<<>>

Well, I had that feelings, too. Not in the tops of my arms, but in my feet and fingertips. Most of the time just ONE finger or one little point at my feet or such. Felt just like someone had dropped a little bit of warm water on it for a second... VEry strange feeling which always made me look at my finger or foot to reassure myself, that there isn't anything on it, that could have caused that warm feelings... Seems to be another nice Yasmin symptom...

Girls, better times are ahead. I'm so glad to see, that every day more and more women come around here and are finally able to put 2 and 2 together and get off that Yasmin poison as fast as possible!! well, not glad to hear, that most of you are going through the same or similar torture as many of us... But glad to see, that they all finally have a solution for their health problems and see a light at the end of the tunnel!!

I really thank god for this and other sites in the www helping us that way where doctors don't seem to be able to do anything for us, but tell us, that it's all just us!!! Here they could find so much evidence of their mistakes...

Greetings to all of you out there, especially chrissy, lisa,
and every other woman here, that is finally guiding others here on their way after being very anxious about the future and not believing that there will be better times after Yasmin!! :) I think of you all every day and pray for you!!

Big hugs go out to everyone!!

Silke

@guest 12935:

Definitely YES!! Your hormones have to get back in balance after getting off Yasmin, which can cause such problems as anxiety, depression and many many more!! I know what I'm talking about!!

Even the strange feeling in your head I experienced, too!! In my case (had been taking Yasmin for about 5 YEARS!) there are still some days where I have this strange feeling of fog in my head, but not as heavy as it was while Yasmin and shortly after getting off!!

So be sure, if you give your body time to recover, the anxiety and the other symptoms will get lighter ang lighter and someday go away as suddenly as it came up!! You just need time and patience (seems to depend on how long you've been taking this pill in some cases!)!!

Some women have got such problems after getting off a bcp. That's not just a Yasmin problem, but seems to come up more often under that pill than under others!

Did you have the anxiety already whilst taking Yasmin, too??

Best wishes and a big hug to you!! You'll get better again soon, I swear!!

First was diahrea
weakness
strange feeling
the worst was the extream high then the extream low,
I would laugh then I would cry then paranoia this seem to last for hours altho I am sure it didn't. I would say stupid things. I would ask people if they wanted to dance. I had a cigarette and I asked if I smoked.

I was very aware of what I was saying and doing but had no control over it.
I told my husband to call the drug store and tell them I had a reaction the the cough medicine, they gave him a number to call and and ambulance was sent to my home, I was taken to the hospital and injected with adavan and and came down immediatley. I slept from 5pm to 5 30 am and fine the next day

After 5 days taking levaquin that have been prescribed for a sinus condition my daughter started having strange feeling, being afraid of people. She when to the eR and they told her to stop taking them immediately. 2 days later she tried to kill herself.

When brought to another hospital they did not beleive the other doctor diagnosis and thought she was depress. After she recovered a day or two later, they realized she was not depress at all and that the cause was the Levaquin.

This is a very dangerous medication and I do not understand that nobody is doing something for it to be retired from the market.

How many of you have a strange feeling every time you swallow? And if so, do you think it could be because of a fungal growth that is not visible in the throat but growth in the stomach and behind the throat? This has caused thyroid problems, joint pain, muscle pain, hormone problems, body temperature problems, etc. Yet Doctors and allergists can not find a problem. IT IS A FUNGAL PROBLEM. THIS MEDICATION SHOULD NOT HAVE EVER BEEN APPROVED. It seem that even after taking an anti-fungal med., this still may not correct the problem. It destroyed my system so bad that malnutrition set in. No matter what I eat, it's not helping. I can't tolerate dairy, it gives me a rash. I don't have much acids in my stomach so food don't break down as well (time for food to ferment and destroy)
If anyone know someone who was either prescribed this drug or is thinking about taking this drug and you feel the same as I do, PLEASE DO NOT LET THEM TAKE IT. My father was just prescribed this so called miracle drug and I WILL DO EVERYTHING I CAN TO MAKE SURE HE DOES NOT TAKE IT.
If people don't believe you, give them this website and let them read it themselves.

Best of luck.

I'm from Germany and have taken Fosamax, 70 mg once a week, for 4 weeks two month ago. I suffer from persistent muscle pain and a strange feeling of "electric movement" all over the body. Also troubles sleeping and arms getting asleep nearly every night. Before, I had only pain in my left arm broken last year in an accident. Dr. say my problems can't be due to medication, but don't have any other convincing solution. Is anyone of you is getting forward with his researches on (non recognized) Fosamax side effects? I would be glad about any help or suggestion.

I'm a 64 year-old retired pilot. I've had a form of rheumatoid arthritis for years. Recently I had chest pains & breathlessness when walking the dog & going uphill. Cholesterol was 6.8 so, prior to an Angiogram next month, I was put on 20 mg of Simvastatin about 5 weeks ago. The Cholesterol went down to 4.4 but I gradually began to feel quite ill with dreadful tiredness & lethargy, feeling low & depressed, not wanting to do anything, With chest pains & breathlessness worse than before. Joint & muscle pains were now really bad and I felt tender all over. Yesterday I felt very nauseous, with stomach tightness, dizzyness and a strange feeling of "unreality" and restlessness. I had lost interest in life, couldn't sleep & was quite ill. I could barely walk!

The last time I felt anything similar was 20 years ago when I got Shingles and the doctor (not the same one) prescribed Zovirax tablets. Boy, I was nearly suicidal then and "afraid" to hear the doorbell or the phone go. This was not good in an Airline pilot so I flushed the tablets away, saw my doctor (who only then read me the side-effects) and vowed to be very careful in future.

I saw my (excellent) doctor today; he immediately took me off Simvastatin, agreed that I was quite normal but probably just on one side of the bell-shaped curve of human responses to this drug. He took blood for a liver function test, checked blood pressure (normal) and listened to my heart and chest (all OK). He recommended a "Statin holiday" and said he may try me on another, different form (much fewer side effects) of the drug. I slept a lot all day today, couldn't eat at all except for an orange (still nauseous), felt the lower back pain still and was generally fairly ill. However, I think now (at nearly midnight and without taking my nightly pill) that I am beginning to feel a whole lot better!

I can live with the high Cholesterol (since all other factors in my life are good) but I cannot live with Simvastatin. Simple as that. You are not alone!
