I need some help. I have been on Yasmin for almost 4 years. Previously I was on ortho and was taken off of it due to an alarming weight gain and emotional side effects. Yasmin seemed GREAT until now... I am experiencing severe anxiety, shaking, headaches, blurred vision, hair loss, low sex drive and depression. I assumed this was all due to stress from graduating and entering the working world, but I have nothing to be upset or stressed about... I have such nervous thoughts and can sometimes say things that are just so unlike me.. I just don't feel myself. I am afraid to go off Yasmin and onto another pill in fear that things could get even worse... My previous experience with ortho was short but definitely not sweet. I am scared and afraid because I am only 22... Has anyone experienced anything like this that can give me some piece of mind?

I've been on the NR for about 6 months now.
Now that I'm reading all the comments, I see that my migraines, lack of sex drive (NR kills your sex drive, therefore it is doing a good job of preventing pregnancy :-), bloated feeling, sharp abdominal pain - like someone stabbed me from inside, pain during sex (so we can only do certain positions) ... can all be attributed to NR. I also experienced that my natural D cup breast feel like DD because they are constantly swollen. I'm off the NR for about a month, strangely my migraines disappeared entirely and I do not have to take Excedrin migraine every other day. I'm going to my doc to check out my ovaries since I think that the sharp pain is related to perhaps some cyst.
I'm not sure what will I use in the future as BC... I'll probably try this new minipill called Cerazette, it is a pill without oestrogen.

I am so happy to have found this website. I started taking Yasmin 2 months ago and was only on it for 1 month. I began a round of Prednisone at the same time due to hurting my back. Well, while tapering off of the pred (going into my 3rd week of Yasmin) I had one night of NO SLEEP. In the morning my muscles were so tight and painful I could barely walk. My heart was racing, I was so dehydrated I could barely speak, my vision was blurry, I couldn't form sentences clearly my head was in such a fog and I had lost 5lbs literally overnight ( I am already extremely thin naturally, so this is not a good thing for me) I was skin and bones. My normally thick, shiny hair became dry, thin and brittle and my skin broke out horribly and I had painful diarrhea. This is just the physical symptoms. The mental symptoms were out of control. I was crying all the time, yelling at everyone and just being completely irrational. I truly thought I was dying. My doctor thought maybe I was having withdrawal from the pred. This continued for a week until I started researching about Yasmin. I immediately stopped taking it after reading the side effects people were having as they were the same as mine. Strangely, they were also the same as prednisone withdrawal, the only problem was that I was off the pred and still having symptoms. Over the following 2 weeks, they slowly got better. Then, it all started again for my next cycle just to a much lesser degree since I was off the BCP. This makes me certain that my symptoms were absolutely from the BCP and not the Pred. I am reaching the end of my period today and my weight has gone back up and I am again starting to feel better. I just hope next month will be normal again. The thing that makes me the most angry is that my doctor refuses to believe that any of it had to due with the BCP. I have been on plenty of BCP's and NEVER experienced anything like this. This stuff needs to be pulled from the shelves or doctors need to be more aware of it's potential side effects and quit discounting our intelligence. Thank you everyone for your posts.

I have had episodes of arrythmia for the past 20 years. I had my second cardio conversion about 10 weeks ago. My doctor prescribed Toprol to control the arrythmia before (25mg) and after my cardio conversion (12.5mg). For the past six weeks I've been experiencing extreme discomfort in my chest from what I though was heartburn or some form of GERD. After reading these posts, I'm convinced it was caused by the Toprol. I've been taking it in the morning and strangely this was when the heartburn was the worst. Reading these posts allowed to put two and two together. Today I skipped the Toprol--and no more heartburn today. I've had no problems with the arrythmia since my cardio conversion. (I also take a low dose (50mg) of flecainide daily.)

My four year old son has been on singulair for 6 weeks. He has started complaining about nightmares, wetting the bed and has become irritable and easily agitated. In addition, he seems to go into these wierd episodes of not being able to control his body...like someone high on drugs. Has anyone had a similar experience?
I will be calling his dr. in the am.

I was originally on ovcon 25 and was raised to ovcon 50 two weeks ago because I have bad problems with ovarian cysts. My doctor raised my dosage hoping to arrest the cysts and ever since I have felt very bad. I have been bloating up a lot, eating and having strange cravings, and horrible cramps but not near my ovaries..its strange....it can only be described as around my cervix. I did have a leep last january that strangely is not healed and it was really not hurting in that area until my doctor raised my ovcon dosage. I dont know..it is very confusing. If anyone else has strange side effects or has any info for who this may be doing this or have the same thing going on...please email me. thanks ya'll! hope this helps. By the way..I have stopped taking the pills and have no pain now. Interesting!

Day 11:
I did a full hour of extreme physical exercise. I thought I was gonna get a heart attack, but hey, haven't worked out since Aug, it's my own fault.
I think it's all going away.
Have not had any migraines, just chest pain today but that was for a reason. I also feel strangely aware of having a vagina. I know this sounds weird, but I think I had totally lost my libido (and lubrication) before. OK, too much info.
Hope it's going well for everyone else as well.
I'm also getting a grip on my life, don't feel so unable to do anything anymore :))!
I've been taking vitamin supplements and frozen fruit, yogurt, and wheat bran (can sub with flax seed, has omega acids) smoothies every day. Can't hurt to help out my bod a lil bit, right?

Several years ago, I was prescribed prednisone for bronchial asthma. I have since suffered a back injury and have been prescribed it again to reduce severe swelling in my lower back. I noticed that each time I began taking the drug, my desire for sexual relations, strength of erections, and orgasms have actually INCREASED substantially. Strangely, it seems that most people complain of an opposite effect. Does anyone have any ideas on why I am affected in such a way by this drug? Thanks in advance and not complaining.

I was on celexa for a while (not anymore) and I had something related to the "tremors" and "jerking" that I think people are describing. I found out that what I was dealing with was akathisia. Akathisia is a condition where you can't stop moving and be comfortable at the same time. For me it was constant squirming and flexing my legs. If I wasn't doing either of these thing I felt strangely distressed and it took effort. When I came off the Celexa, the akathisia didn't go away. It is at least a year later at this point and it still affects me slightly. It was about 4 to 6 months before I felt comfortable when trying to go to sleep. My doctor said that beta-blockers might do the trick, but I never took that option for some reason.
Other than the akathisia, I took a very long time to orgasm. It often came to the point where my girlfriend would have to tell me to stop because she had climaxed so many times and couldn't go anymore. However, when I did orgasm it felt amazing and was incomparable to how it feels right now.

This is my fourth day on Celexa now. First day I felt very tired (yawning all the time), kind of spacey/slow, jaw hurt, nauseous yet strangely hungry, headache, lathargic and had a cramp in my leg that night. Day two I felt great except for another leg cramp that night and sleeping longer than normal. Day 3 I felt very tired, nauseated which calmed down a bit once I ate something and again very tired and slept longer than normal. Day four, so far I feel great with no side effects other than sleeping longer than normal, I feel alert and the spaceyness/lethargy is totally gone now along with the nausea which are the symptoms that bothered me the most. My depression has lifted substantially.

I was prescribed Levaquin for bronchitis, which I get about once a year. It cleared up my yellow phlegm within a day, and I felt great--for a day. Then I started feeling utterly exhausted and generally sore, but strangely full of energy. My stomach wasn't very happy (nothing major, but irritating). I feel lightheaded all the time as if I haven't had anything to eat in days and get dizzy if I stand up or move too quickly. I normally have tinnitus in my left ear (I only hear it if it's very quiet), but now I have occasional bouts of tinnitus in both ears--pretty loud, randomly, with different tones and duration.
I was also prescribed Histussin, a cough syrup with hydrocodone in it. Normally, codeine knocks me out. I didn't feel remotely tired after taking the Histussin, which is odd since I've had it before (in conjunction with Augmentin--which I have had very nominal side effects with).
I feel *worse* after taking the Levaquin than before. I am having my doctor stop this med.

I have been off of Yasmin for almost three weeks and am happy to report most of my strange and scary symptoms are gone. I am feeling like myself again instead of feeling like something was severly wrong with me! Most important to me is my energy level has returned and that awful anxiety is greatly reduced. I still experience dizziness on occasion and strangely it seems to be again related to what I eat, but these symptoms are slowly beginning to subside also. I hope others have the same success.

Thank the Lord for this site. I took 1 pill of this stuff.... just one 10mg pill, and I spent the day trying to stay awake, dizzy, confused, and strangely depressed and emotionally distrought. (and I do not have any history of depression nor have any traumatic or emotional events occured in my life.)
At first I thought I was losing my mind, but then I had a friend tell me about Lisinopril and boy am I glad. I stopped taking the stuff today and I hope the symptoms go away quickly. I know it's personal, but I've also been unable to get an errection since I started the stuff and even now that I've quit.
How Ironic, the medical profession has moved from the cruedality of selling snake-oil to the more advanced effects of selling snake-venom. I think I'll stick with aspirin and exercise.
Thanks everyone for your comments.
