Hi everyone. I am a medical professional and former user of the nuvaring. It is true, birth control as well as most medicines does affect everyone differently. However, I was an absolute emotional disaster (frequently contemplating self-harm) while I was on this medication. I initially attributed the mood swings to my then current stressful situation. When I finally graduated from NP school and my stressors were alleviated, my depression persisted. Within a week of stopping the NuvaRing, I was back to my old self and have not had any of those symptoms since. It is a rather large dose of hormones so if you're feeling these symptoms as well, perhaps you should contact your provider about a more appropriate method of bc.

In January of 2009 I had a Kenalog injection between the L4 L5 in the lower lumber spine area to help with pain. It began to work for me about 5 days after the shot and my back felt better. I was due to return to work, and then I had a panic attack. Never in my life has this happened to me. I was just laying on the couch and all the sudden I felt sick to my stomach, got a terrible headache, had trouble breathing and was experiencing numbness in my hands and feet. I was taken to the ER and tests all came back negative. Was given Klonapin to help me relax, and returned to work a few days later. On Feb. 1st, while at work, I had another panic attack, only after this one, my speech was stuttered and I had neck spasms so bad that I almost couldn't stand it. I also had the night sweats, nausea, depression, headaches, lack of appetite, so I went to see a neurologist. Several tests were done and all came back normal. Then I was referred to Univ. of MD Neurologist that told me it was stress related. However, during both panic attacks there was no stressful situation. After an increase in Effexor I returned to work after being off for four weeks. Then just two nights ago I experienced a terrible immediate migraine that resulted in another panic attack. My speech is still stuttering, I have constant neck pain, and I feel like it's never going to go away. My doctor wants to do another set of Kenalog injections in my neck this week. I think after reading this site, I am going to refuse and get a second opinion.

I wrote about a year ago. My 17 year old daughter was suicidal and horribly depressed during the year she was on Singular. Her asthma doctor had seen this is girls her age and took her off it immediately. Turns out it was not even helping the asthma as she improved on only Asthmanex.
She got better after being off Singluar 2 weeks but was never the happy, outgoing girl she had been before she started. She is now suffering again form an episode of major depression.
Are the effects of this drug permanent? She got so much better after she stopped it, it was like I had her back, almost. She never made ti back the whole way.
I filed a post-marketing MedWatch adverse drug report form one year ago. It is the only way we can prove what is going on. I used to be a certified clinical research co-oridinator. The FDA can't know unless we tell them. Please let them know what a dangerous drug this can be.

I had muscle aces and pains most of that time but near the end of the 3 weeks I would loose the use of my left arm for periods. I would feel faint and very weak. I have had restless leg since I was a child but my legs got much worse during the 3 weeks. Finally I remembered that if you had muscle weakness you were to stop Zocor so I did. The daily muscle weakness gradually went away but I developed severe restless leg and had to go on Requip. I also started having face spasms and “turrett” type spasms in my legs that would travel up into my arms and hands. My hands would clench and I couldn't talk plain. My head would jerk and my body would shake inwardly as if I were freezing. These symptoms were worse when I was stressed or got too hot. Eventually I had to quit my job, it was very high stress. Five years have past. I now stay home and garden and paint. I very seldom leave my home and my stress level is low but when I do get into a stressful situation I still have to deal with the “loss of control” over my body. My sleep is a nightmare every night. My restless leg syndrome is getting worse and I've had to increase my Requip and will probably have to do so again soon.
My cholesterol is very high and my doctor keeps trying to get me to go on some meds for that but I would rather die than add to the painful, exhausting struggle I go through now because of what Zocor did to me.

I have been on Loestrin 24 for 2 years!! And I am finally getting off... and so happy to find this site! I have had to be put on Topamax because my migraines became so bad, which helped my weight gain (that I attributed to my own depression that I thought was my own fault!) I didn't even realize bc could cause depression but it all makes sense! I came on here to find out if Loestrin has been the cause of my SEVERE HAIR LOSS over the past year and a half! When I started taking it, I was also going through a stressful situation and thought that was the cause, but have now realized that my life is back to normal that something else must be causing it. I tried to get my Dr. to take me off of Loestrin about a year ago due to the EXTREME nausea, dizziness, headaches and fatigue that it was causing and he decided that I should just be put on Topamax because I was just a Migraine sufferer! What a nightmare. I can't wait to switch tomorrow!!

I'm a 21 year old mother of one 4-year old. I recently got my Mirena put in on March 11, 2008. Insertion was painful but the cramps went away pretty quick when i left the doctors office I tried to feel for the string but i never felt it so i assumed that my fingers were to small to reach so i just forgot about it. My boyfriend and i had sex the next week and it felt much much different. It felt as if his penis had doubled in size or something. I just know that it HURT a little more but it was still somewhat enjoyable. Since then I got my period last monday March, 26th and I'm still bleeding 9 days later! It's very frustrating. My head is spinning all of the time, I black out, and i twitch like something is wrong. I've gained weight, I have intense migraines, and i'm scared!!!!! Today is the 4th of April and i want it removed so badly. I just left the doctors office for my follow up, so that he could make sure my Mirena is in place. GUESS WHAT.... HE COULDN'T FIND THE STRING to the Mirena....so now i've got an ultrasound appointment on Tuesday. I'm terrified that this thing is floating around somewhere in my body doing damage. My significant other is devestated because he is in fear that we can't have children together and he has already made himself distant. It's a very stressful situation. I'll keep you updated....

Help me please! I was on Yasmin for only three months but it has changed my life dramatically. I realized it all when a cop stopped me and my driver's licence was taken away. I reacted by crying hysterically, for over two weeks, vomitting everything I ate (I lost 10 pounds in two weeks) and feeling drepressed. I went off the pill right away and now almost three months later, it happened again. This time it is job/career related and I am at work and all of a sudden I burst out crying and my chest hurts and I feel such a failure and extremely depressed. After being off the pills for almost three months, is this normal? or am i officially going crazy? Will I react to every stressful situation with extreme anxiety attacks? Please help!

I have had fibromyalgia for 17 years. I was in remission (symptom free) for about 10 years but a very stressful situation brought me out of remission and I began experiencing joint weakness and pain. My doctor recommended Celebrex. For the last several years Celebrex relieved my pain well and I can function almost normally. I tried Vioxx when it came but experienced chest pain if I took it more than twice per week. I take Celebrex every 2-3 days, 200 mg. I also tried Bextra and it had no effect on my pain at all. I believe if it were not for Celebrex my mobility would be in jeapardyt.

Hi,
I'm glad I found this board! My doctor was real adament about me not going off of Advair, which was a total change in the normal doctor she has been. I told her I didn't have a problem when I was on Flovent and Serevent, which another doctor had prescribed years earlier. I thought the stressful situation I was going through caused my high blood pressure, but after hearing Advair could cause this I began to question whether or not it was for me. My doctor's attitude has me wondering if they get some kind of kickback for putting patients on it.
Does anyone know if the side-effects can be reversed? I've had the raspy throat, bumps in my mouth that she said were stress related and to avoid acidy food to help get rid of it, my blood pressure is up and I've gained weight where my weight was stabalizing for awhile. Again, I attributed it to stress. Now...I'm wondering!
I tried Asthmacort years ago and it didn't work for me. I'm going to ask her to try Pulmacort next. Singulair helped until I went around a stray we'd taken in for a week and it has gotten my asthma out of control now. I took the Advair again, but want to go to the doctors with info to take her to back my reasoning for changing meds. If she continues to have an attitude...I may change doctors. I'm not going to stay on something not good for me. As is, I have to go to a sleep doctor next week. Now I'm wondering if some of those problems are Advair too and I do have the frequent urination.
Thanks to all of you for posting your problems! It helps others know they're not alone and we can tell our doctors just that!!!
Susette

I have been taking welbutrin for about 4 years now. I am going to tell my exact dose and type since I am trying to figure out from other peoples comments if there is a difference in side effect in SR vs XL . I have taken 150 XL and the went down to 75 mg Sr because i was trying to decrease the dosage and come off entirely eventually. I have suffered with acne all the four years but thought it was stress (Daughter became type i diabetic and can't ever get her blood sugar stable and the my son developed a bone tumor not long after she was diagnosed). Anyway we finally got his problem resolved with good results but hers is a blood sugar nightmare everyday. So you can see why I thought the acne was from stress . Never even crossed my mind it could be wellbutrin. I noticed my skin was better for a while when my dose was just 75 mg sr. But alas the bone tumor came back again for my son and had to go back to 150xl. Skin has hundreds of little white tiny tiny white heads. Is this the type of acne other people are experiencing?
