I began taking 10mg per day of Crestor on 19th May this year. I received the documentation regarding side effects and read it. After two days I had tingling pains in my legs and I was checked for further cardiovascular problems, and cleared. I enquired if Crestor may be the problem but I was assured it was not.
I had a CT scan and then subsequently an MRI of my lower back looking for restricted blood flow but after seeing a neurosurgeon this was ruled out as the cause of the tingling. There was some degeneration of the back but not serious blood flow restriction. At about this time the Crestor dosage was increased to 20mg. At this stage I had back pain but it was not thought to be related. I enquired again if it might be Crestor but was assured it most unlikely.
Pain in my back increased dramatically one night shortly after and was so intense not only could I not sleep, I simply could not get myself to think of anything else despite intense mental energy to try to do so. I was on the verge of calling an ambulance, but walking around and applying heat seemed to relieve it slightly and I lasted until morning. Doctor thought it was a locked facet joint and sent me to a physio. She helped considerably and I assumed this was the problem. However, the next day it returned. Upper body strength was fine but from the middle down was just plain sore. The physio worked on my back again, and suggested I get a back brace which I did and I struggled on with that as a help.
The pain shifted from my back to the top of my hip and I went back to the doctor to check my hip. He assured me the pain was on the top of the hip, not the groin area and was unlikely to be my hip. I began taking over the counter pain killers for the pain which was hitting about 8 out of 10 spasmodically. The physio was mystified and suggested it may be kidney stones, and so I went back to the doctor to check that out. He had already taken a urine sample which had no blood at all. The pain shifted to the hip and upper right leg. By the time I was able to see him, the pain was quite severe and I was sure it was my hip. He was not sure, but prescribed Panadine Forte for the pain and sent me for an Xray of the hips.
I was very distressed about this, as it appeared I would not be able to continue working. The hip Xray showed perfectly normal hips but the pain was even worse, by this stage in the right thigh. In desparation I saw the doctor again and agreed to try and “tough it out for a few days” using pain killers, another round with the physio, and as much rest as possible. The physio was so convinced it was not muscular but rather a possible kidney stone she sent me back to the doctor. While waiting to get to see him I began looking at the side effects of Crestor on the internet and after checking with the doctor I stopped taking it on Aug 1st to see what happened. Within a day I began to improve but I still thought it might be kidney stones (possibly a big one blocking a tube completely and therefore no blood) and my doctor ordered a CT scan of the bladder area which confirmed that both kidneys were working just fine.
Slowly over a week and a half the pain is completely gone, the back is fine, the hips are fine, the groin is fine and I feel so much more like living. I am now absolutely certain it is Crestor that has caused the whole problem. The docotrs have now prescribed Lipitor in it’s place, and I have the tablets but as yet I have not begun taking them. I am a bit fearful of doing so, but I will begin in a few days time. However, if I get any repeat of the muscular problems I have had I will stop immediately.
I decided to document this as I realise this is important feedback concerning a relatively new drug. I don’t know how this is conveyed to a national data base, but it seems to me this is a serious side effect that has very nasty consequences. Was it that my kidneys were objecting violently to the drug? I don’t know. But it caused me great distress and this is surely a concern.

I am a paediatrician in private practice. I recently put an 8yr old boy with moderte to severe asthma on singulair. He is also epileptic and is on lamictin. After starting the singulair he experienced intense headaches, dizziness and blurred vision.
The headches were associated with vomiting. I have subsequently stopped the singulair but was really surprised by these side effects. Could it be related to his epilepsy? I have been using singulair for many years but this is the first case that I have seen with these side effects.

After sitting or lying down getting up have passed out falling like a tree in the forrest. Broken ribs, internal damages, life threatning situation. All three times hospitalized. Every test imaginable was done no blockages in arteries. Conclusion reached was drug conflicts. My doctor believes strongly that Flowmax was the cause. He has received information that many other men have also passed into unconcious state, subsequently falling backwards no ability to stop the fall.

I have a keloid scar on the back of my left chest wall. It is tender and painful to touch and itchat time.
I start receiving kenalog injection in March, April and June 2005. About 2 mins post injection, I began to nauseating with a bitterness feeling at the throat. With my eyes closed, I see blackness with flashes and spots of lights. My whole body was feeling very uneasy, can't differentiate whether am I being suck in or am I being lifted and had the feeling in incontinence. At the initate time, I still feel conscious responding to my friend command, than I guessed I'm might had lapsed into unsconiusness. 5 minutes later I woke up feeling nausea and dizzy. Feeling much better after 10 minutes or resting, I return to work.
Thinking that I might be sensitive to the pain that cause me to faint, I decided to go for the subsequently injection in April and June to desensitise the pain. But it happened again both times after the procedure except that I'm conscious of the surrounding but I keep my eyes closed. But in yesterday episode, I expercience additional side effect after about 30 minutes later such as acute pain at the injection site and surrounding area that almost cause me to faint again and associated with sharp abdominal pain that I need to relief myself. Last night I slept at 7 p.m., this moring I work up with a slight heachace which clear off after a short duration. Now I'm perfectly alright with occasional shooting of sharp pain form the keloid.
The doctor is aware of my fainting spell but still advise me to return for regular injection as the keloid scar is hardening.
I'm wondering should I continue to go for the keloid treatment???? It quite torturing during the syncope attack. Any one care to advise????

Took it for 30 days for prostate infection. Fixed it, but then like an idiot I took Nyquil for a cold/flu which caused enlargement of prostate and subsequently backwash of urine which infected prostate again. Then took Cipro for two weeks, then Flomax to shrink prostate for 1 month. Infection came back. Starting on Bactrim for another 30 days.
When taking Bactrim for first two weeks only had dry-mouth. When I refilled at different Walgreens (this one in Marietta, GA) I immediately got bad headaches. These only lasted a day or two, then back to dry mouth.
Please note: was taking sulfameth/trimethoprim, the GENERIC form of Bactrim.

SUSPECTED ADVERSE REACTION TO LIPITOR 10mg TABLETS.
Wed 02 March 2005.
I have Type 2 Diabetes and live in the UK. In Dec 2003 I had my annual medical at the local Diabetes And Endocrine Clinic. Consequently, my Doctor (GP) had been advised by the Clinic to prescribe a Statin to reduce my cholesterol level that had been measured as '5.2 borderline raised'. Subsequently my GP had prescribed ATORVASTATIN CALCIUM (LIPITOR), 10mg tablets, 1 per day that I have taken at night.
Just over a year later, during the week commencing 7 Feb 2005, I had begun to experience fairly severe muscle pains in my chest, back, ribs and forearms. The chest pains were similar to angina pains of which I have had previous experience and because of which I take a 10mg Adalat Retard tablet twice daily plus a 75 mg Aspirin tablet once daily. However, these pains did not manifest themselves through exertion, were not abated by rest and warmth and I did not lose mobility. From the outset the bouts of pains had occurred at regular intervals and could be temporarily abated by sitting still. Because I had been carrying out an extensive DIY task that had involved twisting various tools in cramped conditions I believed that I had strained muscles in my chest, back and forearms. I began self-medication with Paracetamol and Ibuprofen. There was no apparent improvement in my condition and the bouts of pain were becoming more longer lasting, more frequent and more severe.
One week later on Wed 16 Feb 05 I had visited my GP and reported the pains. He took my blood pressure and examined my chest. His opined that the cause of the pains could be a stomach acid reflux and prescribed 1 x 20mg Omerprazole capsule nightly. I had begun this medication on the night of 16 Feb 05. It had had no noticeable effect on my condition.
The following day, Thur 17 Feb 05 I had travelled to and from the Diabetes Clinic for my 'annual' check up. During the examinations it was commented on that my pulse rate was unusually high; no comment had been made regarding my blood pressure. On that day the pains had recurred in various intensities from about 9.30am onwards and increased in severity until they had become excruciating by the time I had returned home at midday. I was able to relieve the pains by sitting immobile for about 30 minutes. There had been a lengthy recurrence in the evening.
This sequence of pain onset had been repeated daily, and the occurrences had become more frequent, until Mon 21 Feb 05 when the pains had woken me at 4.45am and had not abated until late afternoon. The pains had recurred in the late evening and continued through the night into following morning of Tue 22 Feb 05. I had not been able to fully control the pains with the analgesics that I had been using and the pains continued throughout the day.
It was at this stage the I had recalled that I had read items in the 'Diabetes UK' magazine concerning adverse reactions to statins, which I now re-read. Subsequently, I researched various Internet web sites (including this one) dealing with the same subject. What I discovered led me to decide not to take the prescribed Lipitor tablet at 11 pm on the night of Tue 22 Feb 05.
The severe pains continued throughout the evening of Tue 22 Feb 05 and into the night, preventing me from sleeping. However, by 7.30am on Wed 23 Feb 05 the pains had begun to abate and by 2pm I was pain free except for a feeling of soreness or bruising in the upper chest and back regions. During the period that I had suspected an adverse reaction to Lipitor I had frequently drunk glasses of water in half pint quantities. I did not experience any severe pains during the rest of Wed 23 Feb 05 and I was able to sleep normally during the night.
On Thurs 24 Feb 05 I had walked from my house to shop and it was a very cold day. After I had walked for about half a mile I began to experience moderate muscle pains at the right side of my upper chest, right underarm area and rear shoulder area. They did not appear to me to be angina pains, which I have experienced. These pains had abated after I had returned home. I attributed the pains to upper chest and shoulder muscle movement when I walked and moved my arms.
On Fri 25 Feb 05 after getting up from bed I felt a dull ache\stiffness in my upper chest and back muscles, which was uncomfortable but did not require analgesic relief.
Sat 26 Feb I had again walked for about a mile from my house when I began to experience muscle pains at the right side of my upper chest, right underarm area and rear right shoulder area. These pains felt less intense than on Thursday and had abated when I had returned home.
On Mon 27 and Tue 28 under the same circumstances, the pains had further diminished. On Tue morning I had some restricted movement when I turned my head fully to the right and later the same day I carried out a task that required some physical effort involving both arms and shoulders, over a couple of hours. I was able to complete the task with no ill effect.
The following day I consulted my GP and gave him a more detailed version of this report. He seemed too busy to read it and appeared sceptical of my claim that Lipitor might be the cause of the recurring pains. His revised opinion was that the pains could be attributed to angina. He wanted me to continue taking Lipitor but I advised him that I had lost confidence in statins and that I was fairly confident that I did not have angina pain (I hope that I am not proved wrong!). He asked me to discuss the matter further with the Practice Nurse, which I did.
I advised the nurse that I did not want to continue taking statins of any type and would prefer to try control by diet if necessary. The nurse was sympathetic to my point of view and advised me that she would research a possible alternative to statins. She has arranged for me to have a pre-breakfast blood test to determine my present cholesterol levels. I have not resumed taking Lipitor and I am determined not to do so.

August 2002 went to doctors suffering leg strain through cycling. Found in general check up to have moderately high blood pressure (age 54 male, slim, almost non meat eater, based England). Was put onto 10mg. Zestril (which is produced near to my home in England). Incredible almost instant reduction in blood pressure. Only side effect a slight dry cough, and a general 'laid back' feeling. Was subsequently re-prescribed various other makes of Lisinopril. Started to upset my stomach and made worse an existing tendancy to ulcers (for which I take Zantac 75). Went back to doctors and asked for reduced dosage - 5mg. - Zestril brand. Reduced dosage is controlling bp but I still feel a side effect is a slight feeling of apprehension or unrest, which is not helping my stomach at all.

I was put on Effexor following a hysterectomy in March 2002. I was not depressed, but suffered hot flashes. The low dose of Effexor did not seem to have much effect on my hot flashes, so I attempted to get off it. Had severe upset stomach, weakness, pain of withdrawal after missing only ONE. Tried this 2x and both times had same reaction. Subsequently my doctor tripled my dose and it seemed to help hot flashes for a while, then stopped helping. I now would like to get off this med, but withdrawal is HORRIBLE! I am trying to reduce gradually, but it's still difficult.

I am not sure if this is what I had today at the dentists office but many of the side effects are very similar and I am not sure if i will go back to have any work done.
I went to the dentist to have two small fillings done. After the first shot I experienced a "panic" feeling. heart was racing and feeling light headed. I sat up in the chair and hung my head down when the asst. came in. She asked if I was OK and I told her that I felt very weird and uncomfortable. When he began drilling I could feel the pain still and so he gave me another dose of numbing meds. Well....after about five min my heart was pounding so hard I placed the dentists hand on my chest and he could feel my heart pounding out of my chest. He took my pulse and said it was over 140. Finally the heart racing began to subside but all day I feel like I have been put through the ringer. I couldn't drive myself home, and have been freezing ever since. My right ear is hurting and finally the numbness in my face is wearing off. I think that was the scariest day in my life. Never again!
