Wow! I just read many of the messages posted here and I am amazed. This is my second month on Femcon FE and it has been great so far. I tried Loestrin 24 and it was terrible. I bled ALL the time!. With Femcon FE, I don't have breakthrough spotting. Well, the first month I did, but it was VERY light. Now it is completely gone. Also, I've LOST weight since I've started this BC. I'm very pleased with Femcon FE, but I wanted to read more about it. I do believe that drug companies have doctors in their back pockets. Doctors push certain drugs for profit and disregard or minimize the signficance of negative side effects so I wanted to do my own research. In reading these posts, I'm almost terrified to keep taking Femcon Fe. But it's performing very well for me, so I'm going to continue it. Best of luck to everyone in finding a BC that suits you.

Just an update about the class action suit discussed previously, and Aamaya had provided us with the Florida attorney, Justin Wikin: I got a letter in the mail yesterday stating that they would not be pursuing suit against them. They said that they deal mainly with wrongful death cases and it does not mean that the case does not have merit, just that it is not their specialty. I will be doing some research here locally in Ohio to see if I can locate a practice to pursue this. If anyone comes up with something, please let us all know.

I am 3 weeks post removal and I am still experiencing aches and pains throughout my body, still have the 10lb weight gain, some mood swings and extreme tiredness and some periodic bloating...I am fed up! I have 2 questions: Has anyone found anything about this hormone levonorgestrel and how long it takes to get out of your system? Second, if anyone knows of any suits against these people, let me know because this is really interfering with my life and with my children and my boyfriend!! This is ridiculous, I didn't know about all of this crap prior to getting the Mirena and wouldn't have gotten it if I did know, and I am still paying for it after removal! Please let me know...thanks!! : )

I think all of you folks with side affects are are blaming your ills on Lipitor rather than putting the blame where it belongs: on your own mental health. I am a 65 YO male and I have been on Lipitor for more than six years now. I have no side affects, I work out four days per week with cardio and weights and feel that Lipitor should be added to the public water supply. My total cholesterol has gone from the high two hundreds to under one-forty on a single daily dose of 10mg. All of you hypochondriacs get a grip.

I was doing just fine taking 50 mg of Topamax but I was still having minor headaches. My doctor said to go to a neurologist because there may be a tumor to worry about. He doubled my morning dosage and added an evening dosage so now I am taking 200 mg. a day. I started the insanity on Friday. By Monday i went grocery shopping and couldn't remember what I was shopping for. Thank God i brought my husband with me...when I could remember that he was with me. And then when I remembered to ask him what we came for I needed to remember where it was. Upon returning home I offered to help my 7 year old grand daughter with her spelling homework. Do you how embarrassing it is to not remember how to spell first grade spelling words? Tuesday was Mardi Gras and we went to the movies so I was saved any further mind questions. Then along comes Wednesday and I returned to work. Well, I tried to get to work. I got lost. Here I was at Walgreen's trying to figure out what I was doing out at 6:00 in the morning. What day was it? The looks on other's faces when you ask them these question is not something funny. So, I get back in my car and aim in the direction I hope is work. Luckily, I remember where I habitually stop for breakfast. My memory comes back again and I make it to work. I am on time and all is well. Now, the day begins.
I haven't had a period since December. Here it is February. And no, I am NOT pregnant. I can't concentrate. I ate 2 chicken nuggets for lunch and am full (now that is a healthy lunch, huh?). I was addicted to Dr. Pepper and now can't even stand the smell of it. I can't walk and chew gum at the same time. I found a note that I wrote sometime yesterday that really scares me because I don't remember writing it. It says, " Headache @ 1:55 no known trigger jut sudden movement to pick up papers from bin over desk. Nausea as well. Need to go to sleep forever." Good feeling to have? Depression is kicking in.
I just called my doctor and he says decrease the medication down to 100 mg. Ummmm...How about I decrease it down to 0 mg and I take a Imitrex or 2 and a hot bath with a nap when I get home and live to see my grandchildren grow old! I think living with a migraine or 50 is far better than what I have been feeling this past week.
If anyone can tell me that it gets better in less than 2 weeks I will stay with it but 1 more week of this and I will be a patient in a mental hospital. I can't even play Nintendo with my grandson...NOW THAT IS DEPRESSING!

I was on Lisinopril/HCTZ 20/25 for about 8 months. A few days ago, I noticed my tongue felt swollen and I couldn't really sleep cause I felt like i was smothering. So this morning, I went to the ER, and thankfully I did. The doctor looked at my pill bottle and asked how long I had been on the drug, and I told him. He then said that it can cause swelling of the tongue even if you've been on it for a long time. He said that some ppl had been on it for over 20 years and suddenly had an attack of swelling in the throat and tongue. I looked at him and nearly cried. If anybody notices this do not hesitate to call your doctor or just go to the hospital. I'm so thankful that I listened to my instincts on this, and he has discontinued the drug until I can get to my doctor.

I started taking Yaz in January or this year, I was on it for 2 months when I called my doctor and said that my appetite changed so much I had practically stopped eating. I couldn't finish a meal and sometimes I'd have the feeling of being really hungry, but then when I sat down to eat, I'd become so nauseated I was afraid I'd get sick right at the table. My doctor then switched me to Yasmin and it was a world of difference. My only side effects would be interrupted sleep (very minimal), periods of tiredness, leg cramps and strangest of all, an increase in sex drive. I can probably right off the side effects as being contributed to my mild case of sleep apnea, working 40+ hours a week and being young and in love. They aren't bothersome enough to stop taking the medication. As like all medicines, its not for everyone. I think the benefits I'm receiving far out weight the small amounts of side effects I do experience, my skin has cleared up, my periods are now regulated and not so severe and best of all.. I'm not pregnant. Hopefully the other women here will find a BCP that suits them and new hopefuls looking for answers wont be too afraid to try Yasmin. Its changed my life for the better... like all medicine, its trail and error, don't rule it out before you try it. Good luck.

May want to consider contacting Daniel Levinson, Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, because he oversees FDA, CDC, and NIH. FDA approved the drug Kenalog, so not sure if there will be a problem filing a class action suit against Bristol-Meyers, but still may be able to sue. Definitely check into individual suits against the doctors because they should be liable for not informing patients of the serious side effects of this and any drug before writing prescriptions or (especially) administering drugs in their offices. I don't think most people ask about or research side effects--we put too much trust and faith in the medical establishment.

I have been using the ring for about 9 months. I have used it both as directed - 3 wk in, 1 wk out - and continuously for 3 months at a time. My 'side' effects have been: (1) vaginal discharge, which took a little getting used to but is actually an improvement over the extreme dryness I had with Orthotricyclin pills. (2) noticibly fuller breasts with occasional tenderness, mostly in the 3rd week. (3) Finally, my periods are so light on the ring, it's almost spooky - I'm glad to read here that this is not uncommon. Overall, I'd say the ring suits me well. Notably, I haven't experienced any changes in mood. Good luck to all of you out there who are trying to find the right BC!

My doctor failed to mention these side effects when he prescribed me with Yasmin nearly 3 months ago as my first ever BCP. Since taking Yasmin I have become extremely irratic and depressed. Nothing has ever made me feel like this before. I just feel like crying all the time and nothing has changed within the past 3 months. I still have an adoring boyfriend who worships the ground I walk on, I am surrounded by fantastic friends and my family have been so supportive. I have also found that the migraines I used to suffer from have returned more painful than ever. I had 2 last weekend.
I don't want to come off this kind of birth control as it suits me well, but the mood swings and depression are starting to take over my relationships and work life.

Lawsuits Filed Over Lipitor Side Effects
By DAVID B. CARUSO
The Associated Press
Thursday, June 8, 2006; 9:33 PM
NEW YORK -- Two men who believe they suffered lasting muscle damage
from taking the popular anti-cholesterol drug Lipitor are suing
medication's maker, Pfizer Inc., claiming the company didn't issue
loud enough warnings about potential side effects.
Charles M. Wilson, a former insurance executive from Atlanta, and
Michael Mazzariello, an attorney from New York City, said in separate
lawsuits that they began experiencing debilitating pain, weakness and
memory problems after taking the drug.
"It ruined my life," said Mazzariello, 47. He said that within weeks
of going on the medication, he couldn't walk without a cane, tend his
garden or lift his 1-year-old child.
The symptoms subsided once Mazzariello stopped taking the medication _
he stood under his own power at a news conference Thursday at a
Manhattan hotel _ but he said he still suffers from pain, fatigue and
a tingling sensation in his hands and feet.
Pfizer called the two suits "baseless" and vowed to fight them in
court. A spokesman for the company, Bryant Haskins, said all potential
side effects of the drug are included on its labeling and often
mentioned in advertising.
Haskins said the number of Lipitor users experiencing those symptoms
is "very, very small ... well under 1 percent," and that they are far
outnumbered by the millions of people who have taken it safely.
Mark Krum, the lawyer handling the suits filed by Wilson and
Mazzariello, acknowledged that the medication may be safe for most
people, but he said that didn't absolve the company of its duty to
market it responsibly and adequately disclose side effects.

i recieved a kenalog shot in my left buttox about 14 months ago. About three months after recieving the shot I noticed a deep divit in my left butt cheek where the kenalog was administered. It took me months to put it all together and figure out where the dent came from, but i am now in a lawsuit against my doctor. is anyone else filing similar suits? if so, is it worth it? i will keep you posted on how my suit goes.
This dent wouldnt be that big of a deal since it is on my butt, but i am an 18 year-old girl with a nice body- except for the disturbing dent in my butt cheek. What if i was planning on being a strippper or thong model, all because of this dent my career would be ruined!!!

-- By helen4692 | Reply | (2) replies | Private Message memy doctor has also told me he is fully supportive if i want it out as he isn't a fan, he also said very few doctors would admit to it causing any of the side effects, but he whole heartedly believes it does. i also have period pain that radiates out to in my hip, very weird! there are lots of ladies the mirena suits but i am definitely not one of them.
