i had mirena inserted at my 6 week check up after my son was born in march 2008... i only kept it in for 2 months. i was constantly bleeding and had more clots in my blood than i had ever had before. my doctor tried to talk me into keeping it in but i told him i just couldnt tolerate the bleeding. i never had any problems with any of my female specific doctor visits before or during my pregnancy. i've always been on the heavy side so my weight hasnt been a factor in the issue. since having the iud removed it seems like my problems have increased, i skipped periods all the time with no cause, no pregnancy, when i did bleed it was heavy and for weeks at a time with horrific sized clots (golf ball). every time i would go to the doctor they would tell me nothing was wrong, until march of this year when to my suprise... the doctors told me i had poly-cystic ovaries. they gave me loestrine 24 fe to help my periods and keep away the cysts but it didnt work, i still have unpredictable periods and still get cysts. they told me a 4cm cyst was nothing to worry about... HA! all my tests are still "normal" so i'm at square one still, but i'm almost positive all my problems were caused by that stupid mistake of an iud Mirena.

I had the Mirena inserted six months ago. Since then I have noticed a huge change in myself. I am very moody and irritated all the time. I feel depressed most days and want to lie around all day. I have no motivation or real care for the important things (ie, laundry, dishes, housework). I feel like I'm on really bad hormonal rampage 24/7. I wake every morning with a headache. I have no interest in sex. I don't feel turned on and could care less if I ever got it. I have not experienced any weight gain, thank goodness. I am easily overwhelmed by the tiniest things. I have three children and it's all I can do to tolerate them each day, which is so unlike me. I do not have ringing in my ears, but I am very sensitive to loud noises and get easily aggravated by toys that make noise and loud laughter. (Not good for a stay at home Mom) I have thoughts of throwing and breaking stuff due to my frustration and I have no idea what I'm really frustrated at. I am definitely a different person since the Mirena was put in. Also, I have been having really bad pain in my wrists. They almost feel sprained. I am having it removed ASAP. I miss the old me. It's been so long, I've forgotten how to be happy and have a wonderful sex life with my husband and have fun with my children. I will be having a tubal. Bad periods, to me, is way better than a chemical imbalance due to hormones. The headaches alone are enough to make me go insane. I have done lots of reading on Wild Yam. For all you ladies that have bad periods and are using the Mirena to fix it... look into Wild Yam. It's suppose to lighten the flow and symptoms of a period and boost your natural sex drive. Most importantly it's NOT a drug.
Good Luck to you all!

Hello I'm a 41 year old female, and I took Lipitor 20 mgs for 6 months about two years ago. When I called my doctor's office to complain about side effects they told me it couldn't be the Lipitor because I had been taking it for a month already, and would have had problems before that. I eventually took myself off of the drug 5 months later. Here are some of the side effects I experienced:
Itchy fingertips, increased blood pressure, 30lb weight gain, shaky hand writing, acne, poor driving skills, poor memory, hair loss, "frozen joints", IBS, incontinence, low grade fever, itchy feet, numb toes, numb hands, foggy brain, joint pain, muscle pain, foot pain, plantar pain, dizzy, jaw pain, back and neck pain, week ankles and wrists, nasal allergies, skin rashes, migraines, heartburn, Increase in Astham, heart palpitations, knee pain, difficulty standing up from sitting position, difficulty climbing stairs, water retention alternating in feet, hands, arms and legs, almost constant taste of bile in my mouth.
These are only the ones I can remember. Two years down the road everything but the muscle and joint pain and weakness is gone. even those have improved a lot. I stopped taking the Lipitor and lost all 30lbs I had gained on it, without dieting, in a months time. I still have two toes on each foot that are partially numb. I have trouble climbing stairs, and getting up from a sitting position. I can do both, but I move slowly while doing them. The pain in my muscles and joints drives me crazy, but I'm grateful that the rest of the symptoms have cleared up. My doctor never believed me about my symptoms, and neither does my new doctor really. Went to the emergency room for asthma that was not responding to my inhaler, and they were about to let me go home when I mentioned to the doctor that I had been on Lipitor. Suddenly a huge battery of tests were ordered including a CT scan and a stress test. When I asked the doctor why he said that they just wanted to be sure that it wasn't something other than asthma. Why did they do that after hearing about the Lipitor? Do they know something? Are there doctors who believe that statins are killing and seriously injuring people? I'm so angry. Even as I sit here typing I know when I stand up I will have massive amounts of pain that I will have to "walk off". My quadriceps have not recovered, and remain ridiculously weak.
If I can stop one other person from going through this I will be happy. Thanks everyone for taking the time to list your symptoms. It makes me feel better to know that someone believes me, and knows what I am going through.

My son was born March 2007, when he was 8wks old, to much of my surprise I found out that I was pregnant again. Mirena sounded perfect!!!! I had it placed 7 weeks after my 2nd son was born in Jan 2008. I had what I still assume is normal with any type of birth control method, irregular bleeding, cramping, some slight mood swings. That all seems normal to me when you mess with you body like that. Aug 1, 2008 I woke up at4am with awful abdominal pain sooo bad that I turned to my husband and said that I think I have to go to the hospital. I decided that if I could fall back asleep then its probably nothing major. I fell back asleep (or passed out, I don't know) The next morning I was hurting so bad I couldn't lift anything, couldn't stand up straight, felt weak and felt as though I had rocks in my stomach but had an empty feeling at the same time. The pain was all over my abdomen, stabbing, shooting, pinching. I also had pain aroung my belly button and a noticeable discomfort about my pevic bone. Finally I called my husband to come home, went to the hospital, they took blood, cultures, did an exam and did a ctscan. All normal! WHAT!! Aug 11th still having pain and now having MAJOR HOT FLASHES. I find myself getting so hot and irritated that I cant be around the babies because I am afraid I will yell at them. If I get in a little disagreement with my husband it will most likely end with me saying I want a divorce (I noticed another lady with that same problem) Today I had a ultra sound done and it came back what my (new) doctor says is normal. The problem with that is that one of my ovaries is split and is NOW shaped like a horse-shoe. I was pregnant for almost 2yrs straight and had lots of ultrasounds NOT ONE TIME did anyone say anything about a odd ovary. I'm just going to make a educated guess that it wasn't deformed till after the Mirena. Now I am wanting to remove it but feel like I should get every test known to man first to rule out any other possibility. I really don't want to remove it. I am afraid of getting it removed and even more of getting pregnant when I already have two 10 months apart and still in diapers.
My biggest question is wanting to know if hot flashes are related or if I might be having something else going on. Am I the only one with he hot flashes? I have them all day long!!!!!!!!
Also I noticed after reading other post that some other things may be related like, piercing headaches, itchy flaky oily scalp, weight gain, ear drainage, lower back pain, oily skin, increased smoking, in-grown hairs in inner thigh area, joint pain, fatigue, decrease sex drive.

Just an update about the class action suit discussed previously, and Aamaya had provided us with the Florida attorney, Justin Wikin: I got a letter in the mail yesterday stating that they would not be pursuing suit against them. They said that they deal mainly with wrongful death cases and it does not mean that the case does not have merit, just that it is not their specialty. I will be doing some research here locally in Ohio to see if I can locate a practice to pursue this. If anyone comes up with something, please let us all know.

I have been taking Singulair for at least 10 years, most of which on a daily basis. I had severe stomach pains and nausea for a period of time, went through a lot of testing and other medications all of which did not help and was at times limited to eating saltines. I also experienced anxiety attacks and depression. The depression would be on and off for periods of time. I attempted suicide several times. Only within the past 3 years, 3 years in which I was not taking my Singulair regularly (limited the Singulair to a few days at a time when I had asthma attacks or respiratory colds), was I no longer suicidal. I am not blaming these symptoms on Singulair but it is no surprise to me if it was the cause, as it was the only medication I took daily in that time period.

Hey there ladies, I just started taking Loestrin 24. I am 41 yrs old. I have a history of endometriosis, with bleeding lasting for 10-12 days a month. I was at my wits end with the monthly pain. I was on the pill for many, many years. I went off it 6 years ago, I went through chemo for Hodgkins lymphoma, and wanted my body to run naturally no hormones no nothing. So here I am taking the pill again, and to my surprise, I have severe PMS!!! I never had it before, but the rage I have is just terrible. I know it is not me, but it scares me. I have breast tenderness, brown spotting too, sharp pains in my side, dull headache, acne, and yes the rage. My poor husband was chewing food next to me, I wanted to beat him,the noise errrrr. Cybil (lol)

I posted a question to anyone who used Tri-Sprintec before, but now it's been several months & I'd like to let everyone else know how it's worked for me! Tri-Sprintec has been the best birth control I've ever taken. I have been on other birth controls over the years, and up to this point Yasmin was good but I still had some side effects. I've just started my fourth month on Tri-Sprintec, and I feel more like myself again. I don't have any crazy mood swings, my skin has cleared up, my periods are regular again & my appetite has gone back to normal. I recommend Tri-Sprintec to anyone who is looking for an affordable & reliable birth control (it's offered at the Wal-Mart pharmacy for $9 a month if you don't have insurance.)

I have been on Lipitor for several years after experiencing a mild heart attack at age 54. Considering I roller blade and bike and use weight training to stay in shape it was quite a surprise. From the onset of taking Lipitor I complained of nausea every day but became more depressed as the months went by. Every thing seemed to be going wrong with my body. The weakness and numbness in my legs and knees to hardly being able to get out of bed in the morning with back pain. I am tired of doctors appointments and getting no where. I was finally directed to this site and every thing fell into place. As of today I am off Lipitor. I will keep you up to date in two weeks from now and let every one know.

I have been on Loestrin 24 since April 07. I am surprised at all the negative feedback here. I was in LOVE with this pill. I lost weight, my skin seemed better and I was overall happier! My doctor TOLD ME BEFORE HAND that I may stop having my period all together. And I did! I stopped having it about 4 months or so in. Well here it is Dec. 13th. I went off the pill around November 19th (due to the outrageous cost!) and have been waiting for my period so I can start another set of pills. Well like I said I stopped having my period at all on this pill so it was no surprise when in the first week of stopping the pill I did not start my period... well now its been 3 weeks and I still haven't started. Thats what I'm worried about.... WHEN will I start again???

I've been on Yasmin for about a year now and over the last 6 months I noticed small brown patches forming on my face. I though they were age spots cause I'll be 30 in a few weeks. I always wear makeup and it has SPF in it so I know it's not from the sun. I just spent a week at the shore and though maybe when I get tan the spots will belnd in. To my suprise my face is destroyed. I look as if I had a very dark tan and now my face haswhere the spots are and nothing on the rest of my face. I am so upset cause I take really good care of my skin and Yasmin has stopped my face from breaking out completely. I do have 4 children that are 10 years, 8 years (twins) and 5 my mom though my hormones were messed up from having them so close at a young age. I also have experience severe headaches but they have been something I had before the Yasmin. I just don't know what to do or what to change to.

I've been off yasmin for nearly 2 weeks now, and have discovered that my once inverted nipple has suddenly decided to not be inverted anymore!

It's been inverting for years (maybe 8-10) , and permanently inverted for the last 5 or so years. But in the last week, it's not inverted once!

I can only put it down to stopping the birth control medication. What a nice suprise!

DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE IF YOU DONT HAVE TO. I too have experinenced all the negative side effects of lupron. Ladies!! We must stick together. If you have Endo, join a local support group. There are some in almost every town. Search the internet. You will find them. I just want to bring up alternative options that have helped me. Maybe they can help you too. Dont want to sound too new age but yoga has really helped my back pain. Also looking into Acupunture which has helped me before but unfortunitly is not covered by my insurance. (Even though its proven to help). My chiropracter is covered so she is trying to incorporate acupuncture and massage therapy. Evening primrose oil can help. For severe pain, I take Naproxin which helps me much more than than Ibuprofen. There is a convention every year on Endo, Im going to try to go. We must communicate and be vocal to our insurance companies and to the public. There is just not enough press about this female disease. I also found out that I have Hypothyroid, dont know if its
all related. Its all hormonal and would not suprise me.
