I found this message board last night and until then, I thought my daughter was just bad. She is almost 3 and has been on Singulair for a little over a year. I have said on many occasions, "What happened to my sweet girl?" After the suicide and Singulair connection, my husband would joke and say that's why why our daughter is out of control. I finally decided to check into it and was amazed at the number of kids out there like my daughter. She is an emotional wreck! Her mood swings are something else. I have to walk on egg shells around her so not to upset her. For example, she will walk up to me smiling and give me a hug. When I hug her back, she screams at me and tells me to let her go or to stop touching her. When her brothers talk to her, she screams at them to stop talking to her. She has meltdowns numerous times a day. I am going to stop giving her Singulair as of today and hope that she will improve.

My 7 year old has been on SINGULAIR for more than two years. Since then we have been to the doctor’s office for numerous issues – over time I began to question her mental state. I thought it was an excuse not to go to school. Although I knew that she loved her teaches and school friends. She has complained about stomach aches (Although in 2007 I concluded that she was Lactose intolerant) leg cramps, fevers, headaches, neck aches and also a pain in her back. I have noticed an awful onion smell from time to time. Over the past few months she has become more emotional and moody. She has had an inability to focus and said that she felt “crazy and wanted to mess things up”! She is a sweet girl and loved by all so this does not make sense.

My 8 year old daughter has been taking Singulair for 4 years. She immediately began having sleeping problems. I never connected it to Singulair. When she was 5, she had a check-up with her Asthma/Allergy doctor. I received a new prescription and had it filled at Costco. She became more irritable and the sleeping problems persisted. After I had the second refill and had the information sheet Costco had given me, I decided to read the about side effects. That was when I realized she was taking the 10mg dose for ages 15 and up at 5 years old. I knew she was taking a different dose but it was new script because she had been at the doctors and I thought the doctor had just increased the dosage. I called Costco and had them check the original prescription and sure enough they had entered it wrong in their system and was given an OVERDOSE. They did pay for any tests for Physical damage (blood work and liver), and gave me free pills that were dispensed incorrectly. I assumed everything was ok now that she was back on the 5mg. dose again. She has still continued to have sleeping issues and her aggressive behavior has gotten worse. She has consistently had stomach problems, daily! A month ago I had an evaluation done for academic purposes, When the Psychologist was done he was saying she was a sweet girl. I proceeded to tell him about her violent outbursts. Just that morning her brother, 6yrs.old, was walking by her and out of the blue she took the pencil in her hand and slashed across his chest. I told him these were typical of the behavior at home and I had tried all type of discipline to no avail. HE WAS SHOCKED. He said that wasn't her personality at all. After talking to him a second time, He said it was probably a combination of her age, hormones starting to kick in and sibling rivalry! I knew it was more than that but still never connected it to Singulair! Well, as of today she is off the Singulair. I can't wait to see if her behavior changes. I see these posting go all the way back to 2003! If only I had thought to look online first!

OMG I am so happy I found this post. I was just telling my co-workers and my friend that for the past 4 days I get so mad at work. I get really annoyed, angry and super bitchy.... which is so not me. I mean everyone is always saying what a sweet girl I am blah blah blah."Well I have felt a total 180 and I have only been on Yasmin for a week! Is it possible for it to kick in so quickly. I mean I get really angry so angry that it had me trying to figure out the root of this "new found evil" side of me lol. But I am going to call my GYN tomorrow and demand a new medication. It's making my life unbearable and hits me worse the minute I step into my office... (granted going to work isn't fun) Now I also notice I have been very sleep. I have been sleeping fine at night but no matter how much sleep I get I am sleepy. Has anyone felt this? I used to use some other BC I think something called lo overal and i was fine, I loved it. Anyway I am very grateful to have read these posts.

My daughter will be 4 in a few weeks. In the last year, we have tried albuterol and advair for her asthma. The last 5 days she has been on singulair and her behavior is worse than I have ever seen (as bad as when she was on the other medications). She is usually a very sweet girl but her behavior is uncontrollable. I will not give her another pill. The doctor assured me that this would not happen on Singulair. I feel guilty because I have given her the medicine that makes her this way. A parent knows when medicine is not working for their child. This did not work for mine.

My daughter was taking a deadly cocktail of Zyrtec, Advair, and Singulair. She was on these medications for three years. At the time we thought that it was fantastic that her severe asthma and allergies were finally under control. After about six months of being on the medications we saw her slowly decline into a state of depression and withdrawal, she had constant headaches, she couldn't sleep, she was no longer interested in any of her friends or activities. She went from a loving and sweet girl to an angry and bitter person. In 2003 she committed suicide. Six months after her death reports started to come out about the links to Singulair and depression and suicide. Perhaps it was the combination of the three drugs in her case. If we would have had any idea what the effects of these drugs were we would have taken her off of them immediately! Please spread the word about the dangers of Singulair, Zyrtec, and Advair. Go on to the other sites and read what people have been posting and you will be shocked. The Singulair survivors are banning together to try and get this medication pulled. Do what you can to spread the word!
