Been on Wellbutrin for almost 6 weeks now. Last week I started having a really itchy scalp, no flakes, just itchy and then bumps would appear where I had itched. My vaginal area was also itchy and I treated myself for a yeast infection unknowingly. This past weekend I broke out in what I now know was hives (urticaria angioedema). First my left ankle swelled (3 inches) and looked like it was sprained, but instead it was super itchy and then became achy and painful. Within 24 hours that ankle went down but the other side swelled up so badly that I had pitting edema in my ankle and could leave dents in it. The third day, still with constant scalp and ear itching, i developed hives and large welts on my inner thighs as well as a large welt on my shoulder. I have been taking benadryl, which seems to help the itching for a little, but not for long enough. Yesterday I was at work and my butt started to itch so badly I had to leave. I had developed huge welts in the creases between my leg and butt right were one sits on a chair! Huge 3-4 inches. I was so uncomfortable. My thumb also had swelled up and I could not move my left hand without burning itch and pain. I finally called the doctor and set up an appointment.
I was told to take benadryl 25-50mg, zantac 150mg twice a day, and Zyrtec once a day to control the hives. This has helped a bit.
When I saw the doctor today and we went over everything, the ONLY change in months has been the addition of the Wellbutrin. I am going to stop taking it today and since my story sounds much like the ones below hopefully this will improve before my eyes or throat swell! Thanks for all your posts.

Within one hour after my first dose of Lisinopril I was having severe sinus congestion and mild dizziness. Since this seemed like a rather mild problem I naively continued to take my 10 mg dose every day. At first my blood pressure did drop a little, but within two weeks it had begun to climb back to the 150/90 range that I was having when it was prescribed. In addition I soon began to experience intermittent diarrhea, headache, vague moving pains in my abdomen, itching which interferred with my sleep, leg cramps, heart pain, anxiety and continuing increase in blood pressure. After calling my doctor's office and explaining all this to the nurse I received a return call telling me I was to DOUBLE my dose and assuring me that I had not been on the drug long enough for it to take effect. Especially concerning to me was the statement that the heart pain was because of my high blood pressure and that doubling the dose would resolve this. Foolishly, I did in fact double the dose for a week. During that time all of my symptoms worsened until I awoke one night with severe chest pain. My husband took my blood pressure and it was 220/120...............this as I was lying prone in bed after having just awakened from two hours sleep. At this point I was certain that my problem was more the drug than the original elevated blood pressure. I quit taking the drug immediately and within two days I was feeling better and my blood pressure was down the the original elevated level. I have now changed doctors, however I have little hope that the change will help as he has put me on a different medication ( which makes my ankles swell) and tells me that if the swelling continues he will put me on lisinopril with hydrochlorothiazide..............he does not believe that any of the symptoms I was having were related to that drug.

Have had skin excema most of my life on and off and just dealt with it with various ointments and such. To make a long story short I went to an emergency room one night about 9 months ago with a bad headache and instead of them dealing with just the headache they obsessed over my rash which is worse on my lower right leg. I was prescribed prednisone along with some antibiotic and not realizing what prednisone can do i took the 5 day plan. I knew immediately I was going to have problems as I was definitely on some kind of powerful stimulant. Anyway that was 9 months ago and I seem to have exchanged my excema for a permanent case of the type of hives that is worse at night before bed and is aggravated by any pressure on my skin. I do mechanical work and if I squeeze a screwdriver or bang on something with my hands they will swell and itch and my fingers will not bend very well. When I feel a slight itching in my hair or around my neck I also will have a slight headache. The hives can appear on my back or thighs or arms or belly at different times usually. Stress doesn't help either. By the way I am 60 and never had hives that I recall ever.

I have been on the NuvaRing for about 6 months or so and have not experienced any real significant symptoms until this week. Wednesday night I had pain that started in my left leg. It was sharp, tingling, radiating pain that ran up and down my leg. The pain then went to my chest. The pain was a burning, sharp pain and I felt a lot of pressure in my entire chest wall; the pain extended all the way to my back and it go worse when I breathed in. This chest pain lasted for about 15-20 minutes. Then, it sort of became intermittent--it would leave, and come back and then leave and come back. Eventually it completely went away, but I was scared so I went to the ER to be assessed. My admitting blood pressure was 173/110. I was SHOCKED! The thing is, I have been having high BP readings consistently for about a month, averaging about 145/85 ish. They did an EKG, Chest Xray, and lots of blood work and took a urine sample. Everything came back normal! My first thought before I went to the ER was that it could have been a blood clot, but my leg didn't swell at all. They told me it could have been an anxiety attack, but I've experienced those before and chest pains associated with it, and this pain was unlike any pain I have felt before. I was just wondering if anyone else had similar symptoms? I have an appointment with my doctor on Monday and I'm thinking I'm going to take the ring out.

sweats, fatigue, anxiety, major leg cramps, weight gain after getting of it! terrible sleep and insomnia! I am now using nuvaring...no trouble. any and everything seems to make my stomach swell after having used it...i also developed a golf ball sized cyst...and got gall bladder disease. major nausea for no apparent reason! I got off of it when i couldn't stand the idea of having another period after already have 5 in a 60day span. I am still not better after three months! Ugghhh! After being sick with gallbladder disease and these symptoms/side effects...I am feeling hopeless and terrible! Yasmin sucks! But it was taken in hopes of a clearer complexion...it's odd that it actually got worse.
God Bless all of the others who have and are going through what I am...

Well where to start. It started one Weds morning at work. Suddenly came over all dizzy and light headed and felt really really sick. Went home and started with a temperature. Parents say I was pretty spaced out for several days and didn’t really want to talk to anyone. It’s like I was there but I wasn’t. Went to doctor a couple of times and they diagnosed a virus. Problems with sleeping started. Ended up at the hospital out of hours as I was shaking, felt sick, thought I was going to pass out. Nothing found so sent back home. Saw doc again and was referred to a doctor at the hospital who had an interest in viruses. Saw doc and loads of blood was taken for testing. Went back after a couple of weeks and blood tests where clear. By that point I was feeling a bit better so they thought it was post viral fatigue. Went back to work part time and worked myself up to full time. Then it started again. Had to be fetched from work. Colleagues said it was more like I was having a panic attack. Broke down completely. Couldn’t stop crying and was in a right state. Went to docs and was diagnosed with depression and still post viral fatigue. My main symptoms have been, panic attacks, anxiety, faintness, dizziness, nausea, general feeling of unwell, blocked ears, palpitations. There are probably more but I can’t think of them at the minute (Oh yeah, brain fogginess as well !) More blood tests were done and that’s when they said my hormones were a bit low but they didn’t think it was anything to worry about. That’s when I started researching Low hormones and started to come across the problems with Yasmin. I cannot tell you what a relief it’s been. I honestly thought I was going mad and that there was nothing wrong with me and it was all in my head. I sat looking that the screen going ‘that’s me !’ Have stopped taking them straight away. Will see how we get on. Doctor didn’t know anything about the problems and has said he will be interested to know how I get on. I cannot believe they didn’t know. Main thing is I know now and can start getting better.

Hello, I was prescribed Avelox 400 mg by my doctor. I am a healthy male, 34 yrs old, athletic, work out regularly and in lean condition. I had a sinus infection, started using Avelox and on the second day, after a light tricep workout experience wicked pain/ultra rapid swelling in my left elbow approx. 30 mins after exercising. I could barely move the limb and the swelling went down after packing it with ice. I called TeleHealth and they told me not to stop taking it and see a doctor. I went to a walk in clinic, showed the injury to the doctor on shift and he told me I must of over exerted myself during exercising. I was told to continue taking Avelox. I decided it was in my best interest to stop any weight lifting exercises. I decided to do a light cardio workout on the fifth day, 20 minutes at a lower speed than usual ( 2.8 ) and after completing the work out experienced some stiffness in my left knee. Approx. 30 mins later, I experienced the same wicked pain/ultra rapid swelling in my knee. I could not walk and had to crawl to a phone to call for assistance. This was approx. one month ago, now I have pain in both elbows, knees, right shoulder, both forearms close to the elbows, and tennis elbow in the left forearm. I have not exercised since then and my doctor told me to discontinue the med. His advice was to take anti inflammatories and rest. The left knee and elbow swell when I walk or just hold the phone to my ear for an extended period of time. I would like to know what you found during R&D of this med. and how long I am expected to be like this. This is now affecting my social life and restricting me from doing what I enjoy in life and affecting my performance at work.

Was previously on Micardis HCT; dr. switched to generic Lisinopril HCTZ 12.5 in 11/07 when I went on Medicare & was concerned about cost of Micardis. Since that time I've put on 10 lbs. and had increased pain/muscle fatigue and general lethargy. Unusual, as I've exercised 4-5 days per wk. (incl. aerobics/strength trng/flexibility.) for 20+ yrs. Also, frequently, have problems swallowing pills due to feeling of obstruction in esaphogus tube. In July '08 I awakened to slight numbness/tingling in lips and my lips then proceeded to the swell to the point of pain and my lips (in profile) protruded further than my nose. I received steroid injection and prescription for steroid pack. Diagnosis was possible allergic reaction to new cosmetic product. Today (9/3/08) I woke up with the same symptoms and again had to go to the dr.for a steroid injection & meds. Diagnosis this time (different dr.) was possible side effects of "blood pressure meds." Has anyone else experienced edema of the lips, wt. gain, and problems swallowing?

I'm a physician. Usually Kenalog injections can be avoided and oral steroids used like prednisone. The local dimpling effect may occur if the injection is too shallow, actually there is a temporary "disolving" of the subcutaneous tissue, the muscle and joints are not damaged. It is usually viewed as a "cosmetic" adverse effect. The Kenalog injections was primarily designed for joint injection and the kenalog or similar depo form stays active in the joint for a few weeks. All steroid medications can cause irritability and this is usually temporary for a few days. Steroids can cause muscle weakness- this is usually associated with high doses for prolonged use like being on prednisone for 3 or 4 months. Steroids can have an adverse effect on menstruation, but this is usually associated with chronic use. The most serious problems with the steroids result in bone weakness(osteoporosis) and serious damage to joints like the back and hip. Steroids can also result in weight gain, diabetes, high blood pressure and cataract formation. I don't think Kenalog is any different than other steroids such as Medrol or Prednisone in terms of the side effect profile. These are dangerous medications that can also be very helpful in saving lives and diminishing pain.

I was put on Prednisone for my COPD. Right after starting a 30 day script (I don't remember the dosage) I started experiencing SEVERE muscle cramps. Legs, feet, hands, abdomen, ribs, back. It was the most terrible experience I have ever had and I refuse to take it again. I also gained 30 lbs in 30 days. Which I have had extreme difficulty taking back off. I am now, two years later, experiencing great difficulty with my knees. I believe that I will always suffer the side effects of this, yet another, wonder drug. The wonder is how many people's lives is it ruining...

I have been on prednisone since November 2007 for minimal change disease, 65 mg, in May I started to decrease the dosage (per Drs. orders) and by the time I got to 15 mg all my symptoms came back and I swelled up again. I was again put on a higher dosage of prednisone and put on Cytoxan 75 mg. I am now decreasing prednisone, back to 15 mg every other day and will be off Cytoxan next month. Hopefully this will work. Right now my main complaint of side effects is chest pressure, anything I eat or drink makes my stomach swell and I feel like I can never take a full breath. I recently had chest and abdoman xrays and an ultrasound, all negative. Does anyone have this symptom? I also have moon face, weight gain, hump on back, insomnia, headaches, digestive problems ,shakes, night sweats, vision problems, extreme tiredness and hair loss. How long before all this goes away?

I was on Lamictal for 4 years and after the first year I suddenly started having all kinds of teeth and gum problems for no discernible reason. But since Lamictal has the possible side effect of "sores or blisters on the inside of the mouth" I wondered if it could be related.
I did a Google search and am coming up with no experts yet, but lots and lots of posts connecting anticonvulsant meds, particularly Lamictal, Topamax, Neurontin, and Depakote, with dental problems. Dilantin is well known for causing gum disease and breaking down tooth enamel, loosening of teeth, and even breaking down of jawbone tissue.
I don't think the experts have connected the dots yet, but is anyone else having this problem?

I have had all of the creepy crawlies and I have had severe dizziness and
my face looks like the face of a pig and my throat looks like I have a severe thyroid problem. My feet swell, hands swell and I put my wedding ring on and I could not get it off but my husband who has stood by me the whole way told me to use soap and I got my ring off but I am afraid to put it back on. I will be off Prednisone-Steroids Friday will be two weeks. I wish I had never took them but I have a severe Diarrhea problem since before Thanksgiving of last year and my Dr. used Steroids and I am on 5-600 mg. pills of Sulfasalazine and he says-Dr. I may never be able to get off this drug. I am just now getting a regular bowel movement. I have nausea, headache, stomach pains, depression and I am going to stay off of them even though I have these withdrawals.

Within 2 weeks of my father taking Lipitor, he started suffering joint pains and achiness. It started in his pelvic area then would move to his knee, foot, wrist, elbow, shoulder. Sometimes his feet and hand swell up. It got so bad, that I had to take him to emergency to make sure that nothing was wrong. They ran blood tests on him, couldn't find anything, and told him to rest. My father used to be very active, even for his age of 74.
I couldn't believe that the doctor prescribed Lipitor even though my father's cholesterol was normal. My father had to prove to the doctor by taking another blood test which came back normal like before. He stopped taking Lipitor two weeks after he started, yet he still has these pains and has a difficult time being mobile. Usually after he does a little light exercise, he starts to feel better, but sometimes its so bad that he can't even think about moving around. Everyday there is a pain in different areas of his body. I hope that this will eventually go away.

I took one injection of Lupron for fibroids in Nov. 2001. It totally changed my life, I am no longer the same person I was before. It started with severe migraine headaches for 14 days straight and attacks of nausea, lack of appetite. I used to have a strong stomach - now I was very easily nauseated. I never went for the second shot. I began to have panic attacks regularly (I had not had them for over 20 yrs). I was tired all the time, and a person who used to work out at the gym 5 days a week - eventually I quit. Now I just walk. I feel about 65 yrs old (I am just 49). I look old, my face began to droop, my hair thinned. I had bouts of depression coupled with general anxiety. My migraines worsened. My sex drive dropped to zero, I feel almost "sexless". I used to be confident, now I was afraid of everything. I now suffer from irritable bowel syndrome - with bouts of diarrhea, bloating and severe gas pains. I have trouble eating sometimes.. I have had all the tests and no one can find anything wrong with me,and none of the doctors think all these problems are due to Lupron. But, I know - I was NOT like this before Lupron. It ruined my life. I just wish my doctor would have informed me of all the terrible side effects - she only told me about hot flashes. I looked into suing her for malpractice but the lawyers said they could not build a case with no real medical evidence that my symptoms are caused by Lupron. I just wish I had known then what I know now. I tell everyone - NEVER take Lupron. Six years later and I still feel like this. Oh what I wouldn't give to have not taken that drug.

Hi my 9 year old daughter was on singulair for about a month and her asthma and allergies were better than they had ever been. It was a miracle drug. Except for about two weeks in her hands began to swell and hurt
in the next two weeks she could barely use either hand. The doctor said no it could not be singulair and tested her for artheritis. The test came back negative and there wasnt much the doctor could say. My baby had hands like a 80 year old and I was deperate. I took her off singulair and almost immidiate relive was there. After another month she had full function of her hands and her pain was gone

My husband has been prescribed Lisinopril recently. It has caused his (blood pressure to drop too low) (always below 90/50). The Cardiologist lowered the dosage to once a day. However, I had to buy latex gloves in order to handle this drug because I would break out in (small bumbs which resembled fire ant bites). It also makes the inside of my (mouth tingle and swell). Strange drug!!! My husband's blood pressure is still too low. We see the Cardiologist tomorrow.

I was prescribed the medicine sulfameth/trimethoprim for a UTI and 1 hour after taking it, I began to itch and noticed red bruises appearing on my arm and back. I also had palpatations. My lips and face began to swell really bad with blisters on my lips and around them. My lips were burning and itching very badly.I also had sores in mouth. I had really bad abdominal pain and difficult breathing.. The next day, I had even more swelling on lips and face and more bruises, vaganal irratations, rashes, severe headache, itching all over body, tongue swelling, throat irratations, bruising continuing all over. I couldn't sleep and was very tired. It has been a week and I am still having some itching, my lips are peeling and still feel very tight as well as bumps on lips and around. The itching and burning on my lips lasted about 5 days as well as most other symptoms. with some lasting longer and all this with taking just 1 pill. After taking this I read so much on this drug and had I read it first, I would have never taken it. I had a reaction to SMZ once and told my doctor that I was allergic to sulfur type drugs and the doctor and pharmacy overlooked it and I was given this anyway. This reaction was much worse than the first. I read so many comments that really helped me and thought maybe I could help someone else. This site is very good.

OMG, I thought it was just me! I went to my doctor because of an ongoing infection and the worst cough I've ever had. I was given Levaquin 750mg and a steriod shot. Then it went down hill from there. My ankles began to swell, then my fingers and hands. I had a very hard time using my hands to open my back door and it even hurt to use my stapler at work! Then other joints began to hurt, like my neck and my knees. It was painful to get up or sit down. I tried to get up and get ready for work one morning, but I just stood in the shower crying because my entire body hurt. I went to an emergency clinic and asked them to start doing lab work to find out what's going on. I felt like I was 90 years old and had been suddenly stricken with menopause, lyme disease, fibromyalgia, arthritis and migraine. All the lab came back normal. I went back to the doctor that gave me the drug (handful of samples) and was referred to a pain and joint center. I am still trying to recover from this drug. .

I woke up this morning after taking Lisinopril for years and my tongue started swelling and continued to swell. My doctor sent me to the emergency room where they discovered that this was a possible side effect of the drug along with swelling of the entire face and throat - enough that it could cause you to smother to death. He said the side effects could just suddenly flare up as long as seven years after you stop taking this medicine. They put me on an IV for three hours to reduce the swelling and counteract the effect. It brought it almost back to normal but I have to take medication at home for a week to completely return to normal. I was told to never, ever take this stuff again. It makes a person wonder!

I had to take my husband to the ER yesterday due to the side effects of Lisinopril, which he has been taking for 15 years!! His lips were swollen as were his cheeks and he had a heavy rash over many parts of his body. The nurse I spoke to asked if he was having trouble swallowing. He was to call 911 if I didn't get home in time to get him to the ER. The Dr said he was having an allergic reaction to the medication and 20% of people taking it have the reaction of facial swelling which can affect the tongue and/or throat (which can actually close up) no matter how long they have been taking the medication. Until you can get on another bp medicine, have a 50 mg of Benadryl on hand at all times and head for the ER if your face starts to swell or swallowing is a problem.

I have been taking Omeprazole for about 2 months and since the start of taking it I have had stomach cramps that range from slight discomfort to buckling pain that is almost unbearable, my hands and feet swell weekly and it was substantial enough for my wife to notice without question, also I have been experiencing nausea more frequently and more severe the longer I continue to take the medicine, I have occasional joint pain most often at night making it sometimes impossible to sleep, I've struggled with depression before and am not sure if the medicine is causing it or not but my wife says she has noticed a change in my attitude since being on Omeprazole, As far as other side effects I have developed a rash on my inner thigh that seems to coincide with starting the medication, also I have had sharp headaches behind my eyes probably about twice a week lasting anywhere from ten minutes to half the day

I am a 23 yr old mother of one. I have severe endometriosis and I let my doctor talk me into taking the LUPRON injection, without researching it first. My first week on the shot I started shaking severely and was always sick to my stomach. I now am in the second month of my first dose and I have no appetite what-so-ever, I am losing my hair, I swell in my knees, ankles, and stomach, I have severe mood swings, I am forgetful, and I only get about 4 hours of sleep a night (if that). Most days I hurt in the bend of my legs at the groin area and am unable to get off of the couch to play with my 3 yr old little boy. I now have to buy my clothes a size larger than what I wear because of all the swelling. Sometimes I shake so bad that I can't hold anything in my hands or even walk straight.

Oh!!!! I thank God for finding this site. I have been so down and out for the last 4 to 5 months. I'm 48 years old and had my Mirena put in March 2009. It was very painful for me but I quickly got over that with minimal spotting. Since the insertion I have gained at least 10 pounds. I don't weigh myself but I go by how my clothes fit. I consider myself an athlete who is a decent runner. I've completed 12 marathons to date. I know how to work out and how to eat. But for the life of me I can't get rid of this. My breasts feel like they did when I was pregnant - tender and larger. Then I started having stomach problems. Terrible bloating and pain. I went back to my OB and they did a pregnancy test which of course came back negative. I went to my family practioner who put me on prescription Zantac for my stomach issues. With all this going on within a 7 month span, I knew something was wrong but until this morning I didn't know what. I called my OB and talked to the nurse and she said that the weight problem I'm having is just because I'm getting older. HOG WASH!!!! She can't tell me that what I'm feeling is normal. I can't live like this anymore. I will just have to use some other birth control.
