Hello,
I am following up with my father's case that I wrote about in January,(jb4boys). He is 77 and I took him off of Lipitor on my own on Feb. 4,2008. We have yet to tell his primary physician, but have told the arthritis specialist I took him to 3 weeks ago. The tingling going up his arms has stopped and he is sleeping better, hands still hurt, but are getting better. I have started him on fish oils- omega 3. Am told that the Omega 3 DHA and EPA totals need to be over 1000, and actual fish (sardine, anchovy, etc.). Bloodwork from arthritis doctor showed no arthritis, but x-rays did show swelling in hands and feet. He was on Lipitor for 7 years, so it will take a while for him to get rid of this drug in his system. Have heard that Lipitor attacks the muscles, joints and then the heart. I can honestly say that I have not heard of 1 person with a positive comment about this drug. Find another way to control your cholesterol, there are many natural supplements that have been proven to help - with no side effects. Have also heard that wellness doctors and acupuncture is another natural way to lower your diabetes, cholesterol, hbp - all natural.
Good luck and keep in touch with how you are progressing.

I am having tingling burning sensation in my feet, legs and hands and arms. My blood pressure was not improving on 5 mg so I upped it to 10 and those symptoms are much worse. The tingling sensation goes all the way up my left arm and up above my knees on my legs.
I have tried to take the Lisinipril before and stopped for these same reasons. My doctor does not seem to think that it is due to the Lisinipril. so I tried it again and the burning, burning sensation is driving me crazy and keeping me awake. I have to get up and stand in cold water for a while to get some relief.
I have not read about anyone with the same symptoms. Does anyone out there have these symptoms??

my father had fluid on his lungs and started levaquin for 12 days. He took himself off of it on the 12th day after severe swelling in his hands, feet and joints. He's been to every doctor in austin since and no one can seem to explain it to us. He is very depressed, has trouble moving, sleeps all the time, severe joint pain and swelling of his hands and feet. No one here seems to be saying anything about the side effects going away. Someone please tell me that this will get better. Is there any hope of it getting better? Has anyone recovered?

My 12 year old daughter went to the emergency room today with severe hives, joint inflamation, throat irritation, swelling in hands and feet. The doctors felt this was an adverse reaction to one dose of tessalon.

I've been taking 25mg toprol-xl since December 07, Went to Dr one day for something not heart related and he told me I have a heart murmur, after several test I found out my tricuspid valve was regurgitating. My BP has been a little high but nothing out of control. I have gained over 20lbs since Dec, I ve been extremely tired, swelling in hands and feet. Aches and pains in joints and muscles. I just recently stopped taking zocor thinking that was the culprit and probably was, but now I think it could be the combination of the two. I am going to take myself off of the toprol (monitoring my BP of course) and was wondering how. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
