I am a 33 yr old mother of a 5 yr old. I have not been on birth control for about 7 yrs now. After meeting someone after my divorce, I decided I needed b-control. I liked the idea of the Mirena so thought I'd give it a try. My Dr. left the strings long so they could loop back up around the cervix and not bother my partner. YEAH RIGHT -- They've now come down from that position and even though I've put them back up there, my partner feels them every time now. It has literally scratched him (and he's scared of it now). After about two weeks I immediately noticed a decrease in the intensity & frequency of my orgasms and a decrease in my sex drive. Which blew my mind! It's basically killing my sex life. My breasts are also extremely swollen and tender for a 2 week period prior to my period. It's lightened my periods, but the amount of blood has increased and they last for 5+ days now (instead of tapering off around 3-4 days without b-control). I am also extremely bloated (looks like I'm 4-6 mo pregnant) for about 2 weeks prior to my period. I have noticed 4 more lbs on the scale since having this inserted 2 months ago (that I can't seem to get off with dieting & exercise). It's coming out in less than a week and I can't wait. Bad idea. I'm switching back to the NuvaRing I tried for 3 months before the Mirena. It made my tummy upset around month two but then everything seemed to balance out. I didn't have any problems with it other than that for 3 months (except with insurance it's still $50 a month).

I've had symptoms for about two months now without knowing they were coming from taking doxy. First, I couldn't sleep at night b/c my feet felt like they were on fire! and my hands had the same tingly feeling esp. after a change in temperature. Then my toes became red and swolen around the nail. After about a month, the feelings never really went away but always got worse when I was in the sun. A rash began to develop on the tops of my toes. Each bump looked like a tiny water blister. After more sunlight, the rash spread to my hands and arms. More fire. I also got the terrible feeling in my thumbs and index fingers that felt like I banged them with a hammer. Now that the rash is going away (still bad on my toes), my fingernails are terribly brittle, discolored, and are coming off the nail bed on a few fingers. I've also gotten a fever blister and terrible sunburn on my nose, ugh. I was presecribed this medicine for acne, but that seems as though it hasn't even been treated. I've also noticed blurred vision and back pain, but I think that is just b/c I hate my job. LOL.

Not sure if it's a side effect but after being on the drug Biaxin XL - 1,000 mg / day (single dose) for 2 days my feet hurt, my right forearm is very sore, my right wrist is swolen and the left-center part of my lip is really swollen. Can't sleep. My couch is productive however.

I have been using the ring for two months now. I'm not sure if I like it yet or not. The most noticable thing to me is my breasts. They are so sore and so swolen. I do have mood swings but do with every birth control. So far it's not too bad but still kinda scares me.

I was diagnosed with a kidney disease when I was 14, and was put on prednisone on and off for a few years. After being free and clear for four years, my kidney problem is back, and I am back on the prednisone, 60 mg a day for the past month. My doctor said I can wean myself off and go to about 40 mg a day for the next two weeks, but this is when I used to have relapses in my condition. I am looking for ward to getting off of the prednisone though, my face is so swolen, and I feel like I look like a bobble-head. My cheeks are so full, and I have the worst double-chin. At first, the prednisone gave me so much energy, which was fine with two kids at home, but now I am just irritable and tired. I am starting to gain weight in my stomach now too. This time of year is the worst too, because the prednisone reall effects my immune system. I have to worst cold, and I had to get a flu and pneumonia shot.

The worst part of the prednisone is the swollen face though. There is no way to hide your face. The weight gain in m stomach can be hidden with a bigger shirt, but I can't seem to hide the ound cheeks. I wish I knew how to apply my make-up to hide it, but I can't It's awful!

I sat down tonight to look up the side effects of Prednisone and an hour later am sitting her feeling both reassured and in disbelief. What a crazy drug! I have a side effect that no one else mentioned - maybe it's not the Prednisone? I had a sever respiratory infection that caused my Asthma to spin out of control. By the time I saw the doctor I was pretty sick and once again, he doled out the Pred. I've only been on it (this time) for 6 days and the taste in my mouth is unbearable. My tongue feels swolen (along with the rest of my body) and hairy! What's that? No one else mentioned this. My mouth constantly tastes like "morning breath" or like I've been eating trash. What do I do to try to get rid of it? I EAT and EAT and EAT!

This drug is so powerful. I'd rather use an inhaler every 3 hours than feel this FAT and have this taste in my mouth. Will the swolen weight gain feeling go away on it's own or will I have to turn into a workout freak? Someone let me know!

i had been taking prednisone for a couple months for migraines before i told my doctor i didnt want to take it anymore. i had terrible mood swings, from depression to extreme joy. i would take it out on even my closest loved ones. my sexdrive also started to swing violently. i also had a swolen face and i bruised a lot easier. my blood was also a lot thinner. even when i cut myself shaving it would bleed for a half hour. i also became very tired and i couldnt concentrate. it helped my headaches though

I just ran across this site and WOW! I am not the only one experiencing these crazy syptoms. I hav been on Wellbutrin for 3 weeks now and noticed lack of concentration, extreme forgetfulness, lack of creativity ( I produce videos so this is a bad one) and just two days ago broke out in hives. The hives are like big welts, 1-4inches in size and very red. They itch like crazy and byt day two it progressed to swelling of my joints. The bottom of my foot swelled, then my wrists with aweful aching pains in the wrists, and then the next day I woke up with my left eyelid swollen almost completely shut! I got up today, day 3, to find trhat my left eyelid is better but is transferred to my right eyelid and now my lips are very swolen and uncomfortable. Syptoms seem to be flu like with lost of aching in my joints. Very frustrating. I was prescribed to take it to help with quiting of smoking and sure never expected this. I have never had any reaction to any medication my whole life and I am almost 40 years old. The only medication I took while on wellbutrin was loratab for back pain. I just read somewhere else taht the two shouldn't be mixed. I told my Doctor I was taking loratabs occaisionally and she made no comment about it.

I just was prescribed predisone for the hives/rash. Hope it helps. Have stopped taking the wellbutrin.

Glad I found this site.

Mary
