While in the 1st month on the NuvaRing, I experienced small bumps on my stomach area (bellow breast & above the belly button). I thought it was heat rash. However, while in the 2nd month on the NuvaRing, I experienced sunburn/welting hives (range from 1/2 to 4 inches) all over my body, swollen fingers/hands, swollen lips, swollen left side of my face (including eyes), heartburn feeling in my chest. This landed me in the ER because I had a hard time breathing. The ER doctor immediately administered Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) via an IV. I was also given Prednisone (steroids) Famotidine (Pepcid). The next day--I still have hives that pop up of I don't take the Diphenhydramine & Prednisone pills on schedule. The chemical/NuvaRing has to get out of my system!!! Beware Ladies!!!

54 year old Male, Retired Marine, Very physically active, with Type II Diabetes; 5mg. Thanks for this Website. Started Lisinopril 3/25/09. Took it for 25 days, found this website and stopped taking it immediately. I had severe JOINT PAIN. It started in my hands, then feet, knees were next, then moved into my shoulders. The pain was the worst I've ever felt. Approximately 60 days after stopping the drug I went to see the Dr. after the Pharmacist told me Lisinopril should have been out of my system after 2 weeks. The Dr gave me Steroids (Prednisol) which completely eliminated ALL pain in 2 days . I was tested for Polymyalgia Rheumatica, however the my Sed Rate was normal. The blood tests did reveal that my RHEUMATIOD FACTOR is elevated (34.3 where the normal range is 0.0-20.1 IU/ML). Was told that if the pain returned, then I would be referred to a Rheumatologist. 3 Days after finishing the dosage pack of Prednisol, the pain/swelling in my hands and shoulder has returned. Going back to see the Dr today to discuss next steps.

Although the doctors don't agree, I believe Lisinopril caused this pain, and although out of my system now, triggered something that isn't going away.

The rest of this describes the roving pains I experienced.

Hand pain included swollen fingers, inability to make a fist or type on a keyboard. After light yard work on Sat., shooting burning pain up the inside of both arms. Trying to close your hands into a fist, you can feel the tendons up your arm burn with pain. Motrin did not alleviate the pain. Hot water did not help.

Pain in my knees each morning. The pain worsened over night and frequently causes you to wake up. The pain was like your knees were being squeezed in a vice. No position is comfortable. Motrin sometimes helped, but after awoken, getting back to sleep was impossible.

Feet swollen. Couldn't wear any shoes for extended periods. Loosening the laces helps, but still caused pressure which becomes unbearable and the shoes have to come off.

Shoulders; This is the strangest one. First pain was in the left shoulder, like I had impacted a brick wall at a full run (actually no trauma occurred). The pain felt like someone had stabbed it in my shoulder in the socket. At it's worst, no position is comfortable. Had to put my arm in a sling. 5 Days later, the same type pain moved to the right shoulder.

I don't know where to begin; I have a text box in front of me that says "add a new side effect of the Mirena" but all I see are the same side effects over and over. That, in itself, speakes volumes. As for myself, it's been depression, weight gain, exhaustion and yet unable to sleep, pain down to my knees - of course all of these symptoms can be explained by everything else in the world - who, these days doesn't have money problems, stress, employment fragility, etc.? But I know myself, and this is wrong.

I had mine put in March 2009 and after a month I told my doctor I wanted it out. She said I didn't give it enough time (apparently six months is the magic number).

It's now been three months and getting out of bed is an act of heroism for me. Sex is out of the question (well, we have given it a go a couple of times and he can indeed feel the strings, contrary to what I was told - perhaps it's because he's - er - oh, never mind.)

I bleed erratically and it stinks; if I hadn't lost my sex drive already I'd be put off just by that.

I got the thing not for birth control but for pain and bleeding (not that it makes a difference)- it has made the pain worse, so I don't understand why I'm so nervous about asking my doctor (tomorrow - Monday) to have it removed?

I had Mirena inserted on the September 2007. Friday I had it removed. I am 35 and a mother of 5 children and suffer from heavy periods and severe anemia so Mirena was supposes to be the cure. My husband kept complaining that he could feel it while we were having sex so I had it clipped shorter. He still complained about it. I felt more tired and my periods there were only a slight improvement(bleeding more days but not as heavy after the first two days). The cramping the week prior and during the first couple of days of my period was unbearable. I have gained 10pounds and had a mid section belly roll that I have never had before. I always felt bloated and woke up with swollen fingers(the only other times I can recall feeling this way was during pregnancy).
After a few days of having it removed, my mid section feels less bloated but I have had Flu like symptoms. Nausea, a little vomiting, constant headache and diarrhea.
I will keep you all posted. Best wishes everyone.

I have been on Wellbutrin for two weeks. About four days ago I began having joint pain and swelling in just my left hand, middle and ring finger knuckles. It is swollen and getting worse, not better. Has anyone experienced joint pain in just a specific area and not all over with Wellbutrin?

> 4. Swollen fingers and hands
> 5. Jittery
> 6. Nervous
> 7. Hungry all the time (way more than normal)
> 8. Sad/general feeling of depression
> 9. Don't like people much these days (feel like "snapping" at people)
> 10. Feeling "alien" - like nothing feels like "me" anymore
> 11. Climbing the walls/ anxiety
> 12. Hard to concentrate
> 13. Nasal passages constantly dripping
> 14. Varicose vein sore to touch the skin (this is apparently because the veins and arteries swell and are closer to the surface)
> 15. Back of right knee sore to touch the skin (apparently related to the vericose vein)
> 16. Sweating at night (waking up wet and having to change clothes multiple
> times)
> 17. Sweating and cold spells at odd times during the day and night
> 18. Heart racing (over 100 beats per minute at rest day and night)
> 19. Back of neck/head sore to the touch
> 20. General feeling of being uncomfortable all the time
> 21. Some insomnia - yet falling into coma-like sleep in evenings

Number 13 was the only one my doctor couldn't attribute directly to Prednisone.

Today I can add another to my list of side effects. My feet and ankles have swollen up huge.

A girl in the store yesterday said I looked very tired and unwell. People at work notice lots of the symptoms.

All this because of an acute asthma attack caused by other people smoking.

I've reduce the dosage by 5mg today and yesterday down from 50mg to 45mg and today I'm having a harder time breathing. Where does this all end?

It's all very depressing indeed.

I was on pred. for 4 yrs. I was only taking 5 mg. every other day but went through all the side effects as well. The weight gain and the insomnia was the worst. As of now, since I've been off of pred. i don't wake up with swollen fingers, haven't had any tremors in my hands, my temper needs some work but I deal with it when my husband is at work. He's very patient and understanding so I don't have to worry about him getting angry at me, he doesn't. Sometimes he just laughs because he says I keep things hopping. Maybe that will also go away sometime soon. I'll deal with trying to be patient while I wait this out and who knows how long that will take. I'm praying for "guest" who is having troubles at home and everyone else on this site Later.....................

I have been put on five different drugs for my cholesterol. I react within a week of taking these....... I wake at night with my hand cramped and loose the power of my hand temporiarily .. then my feet go ice cold .. then get great sharp pains in feet....... aches in neck and back.....I stop the statins right away and the Dr insist we try another. Now I have said NO MORE........... this has beenover a period of three years. I am shocked at the sudden and quick problems of the drugs. I have stiff joints and swollen fingers sice the last trial of two one week......... any cholesterol lowering drug affects me....I keep telling them I can not use statins and they say this is a new drug it will be different. Nothering is different.
I have not brought my cholesterol down to normal with diet and non flush niacin...... plush omega -3 oils.
I asked the Dr why they do not try the natural route first?? He said " patients do not like the side effects!!!!" I said have you not heard of NON FLUSH NIACIN. Have just had blood tests done for rhemoid factor......... all because of my swollen joints and aches .. as a result of statins.
DO NOT TAKE THESE DRUGS...... TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR HEALTH... DIET EXERCISE AND TAKE NATURAL PRODUCTS

WE ARE NOT EXPERIMENTIAL OBJECTS FOR THE PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES......

THEY DO NOT HAVE OUR HEALTH AT HEART .. IT IS ALL ABOUT PROFITS AND MORE AND MORE MONEY

My PCP switched me from norvasc to lotrel effective 12/10/02. Swollen fingers is the side effect. The hands and the fingers look pink also, especially the left-hand & fingers.
