I have been taking Lisinopril for years. Also I've taken numerous tests to find out why I'm so fatigued, sleep all day and more tired afer sleeping even,severe knee pain at night when laying down only... I had also put on a huge amount of weight in a month or two when I started taking it now that I come to think of it. Oh my gosh. As I continued reading everyone's posts I wanted to cry. Has this been my problem after all these years? I sleep my life away for the last few years and I'm only 40. Before I started taking it, I worked out extreme 36 hours a week and worked 50 to 60 hours a week. Now my day is trying to get up to make it to work on time for 8 or 9 hours! I've already sent an email to my endocrinologist to request a different prescription and I am not using Lisinopril anymore!! Are there any class action suits for this? This has really taken a lot from me. I only hope this is my answer, which it sounds like it is! Thank you so much for sharing your stories. I will return after time to reveal my results!

Known Side Effects of Doxycycline: (source: drugs.com)

•severe headache, dizziness, blurred vision;
•fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms;
•severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash;
•urinating less than usual or not at all;
•pale or yellowed skin, dark colored urine, fever, confusion or weakness;
•severe pain in your upper stomach spreading to your back, nausea and vomiting, fast heart rate;
•loss of appetite, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes); or
•easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness.

Less serious side effects may include:
swollen tongue, trouble swallowing;
•mild nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or stomach upset;
•white patches or sores inside your mouth or on your lips;
•sores or swelling in your rectal or genital area; or
•vaginal itching or discharge.

Comparative Research Results:
SOURCE: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3684731 -- Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston 77550

“Results from both monitoring methods consistently indicated at least a 3-fold higher frequency of nausea or vomiting with doxycycline relative to the other antibiotics. Complaints of skin rash also were at least 4 times more frequent with doxycycline, depending on the particular sample.”

More: ******

There are all sorts of verified reported side effects, most of which were on the packing slip that came with my prescription. However, not all side effects are listed on the insert. I’ve come across depression and anxiety listed as side effects on other drug profiles for Doxycycline, so if they are among the symptoms you're experiencing, they very well may be due to the drug. My experience has served as a greaet reminder to research any pharmaceutical I put in my body so that I may make informed decisions.

Like many of you, apart from my current breakout from Doxy, I too experienced stomach upset, and, to a lesser degree, cranial pressure.

Be well. Cheers.

I'm so glad I found this site. I was prescribed doxy for a rash I got in the Dominican that they thought lead to some sort of infection. The first couple days were fine but one night I took the medication before bed and was up all night with the worst chest pains. I have been nervous ever since that when ever I take the pills I'm going to get the same reaction. I have had chest pains the past couple days and I've been really careful with what I take them with and have been making sure I drink at least two bottles of water with each pill. But today I feel so weak. The last week on the medication I've been so tired I want to take naps when I get home from work which is unusual for me. Today my head feels heavy and my leg feels like it's about to twitch but it doesn't. I've felt some tingling in my left leg and my left arm. I thought this was from whatever infection I had since the rash was on my left ankle, but I think it's from the doxy instead. I've also been feeling a dull pain in my thigh every once in a while. I normally have some anxiety but a couple days after I started the doxy I put myself into a panic and spent the entire day at work researching tropical diseases on the internet because I thought I had one from the rash. I've also had some shortness of breath. I have asthma but it feels nothing like that. Also the doxy made my birth control stop working and I started my period. I thought I just had bad cramps but I'm starting to think they were more stomach aches from the doxy. I've had diarrhea also. And I feel so light headed that I'm going to pass out but I don't. I'm definitely calling my doctor today to get a different antibiotic. Thanks everyone for your posts!

I returned to the doctor today to get a different antibiotic because Avelox made me worse off than the sinus infection I had. I stopped taking it about two weeks ago and still have side effects from the drug. My doctor had given it to me about two other times. The last time I recall was in November. I didn't finish taking my prescription then either.
I thought maybe I was having flu symptoms also, but it was the drug making me more ill. RASH, HIVES, RED HANDS, SWOLLEN TONGUE THRUSH, BUMPS ON MY TONGUE, TINGLING IN MY BACK, VOMITING,HEADACHES, PAIN IN MY STOMACH NOT LONG AFTER TAKING A DOSAGE. FREEZING HANDS, THROAT FEELS LIKE IT'S CLOSING UP AND DIFFICULTY SWALLOWING, COULDN'T GET OUT OF BED, MUSCLE FATIGUE, ACHES WEAKNESS, JOINTS HURT, TINGLING IN HANDS, ANXIETY,CRYING SPELLS, NIGHTMARES, SKIN SENSITIVITY, INSOMNIA, THEN EXTREME FATIGUE, DIZZINESS AND LIGHT HEADED UPON STANDING AND/OR GETTING UP FROM A SITTING OR SQUATING POSITION. EVERYTHING HURTS ALL THE TIME IN EVERY MUSCLE...... I BASICALLY FEEL LIKE I AM DYING.
My fiance thought I was totally losing my mind. I was moody, aggressive, irritable, depressed etc... I felt like like a different person.. My fiance of course got sick also and his doctor prescribed it to him. His side effects included muscle aches and pains and extreme fatigue and mood swings. I looked up some side effects when I was started taking it a few weeks ago, but didn't pursue the research until the side effects got worse. I took it for 7 days this time. My fiance took it for three days. I called him at work after seeing this website and told him to stop taking the medication immediately. I am still sick with a sinus infection, and a whole slew of other crap going on. I called the doctors office and went in right away to get a different medication. To no avail, when I went to my doctors office there was a rep from Avelox there. I said don't give that Avelox to anyone sarcastically. I then saw his tag on his shirt and his bag full of Avelox samples. He asked what type of symptoms I had and I told him.. He said he would report it to the company.... What do you think they will do about it? MOST LIKELY NOTHING. I am an educated person with the capability and time to research anything I need to and I will do my best to dig up the most dirt I possibly can about this horrible medication. They need to stop pushing these meds on doctors to give us and make us more ill than we were to begin with. I JUST HOPE MY AILMENTS AREN'T PERMANENT. People try to make light of the situation because they don't want to be sued. I think the FDA needs to be revamped and the Government should stop letting these pharmaceutical companies poison us. I AM NOT EXAGGERATING EITHER! DO NOT TAKE IT.
I have been going to my doctor for about fifteen years and she never gave me any medication that had made me this ill. I get samples a lot because I have no insurance. Sometimes she gives me scripts. Today I got Zithromax which always worked well for me in the past. Very little side effects. I realize that everyone reacts differently to certain meds, but come on now! It isn't just a coincidence that all of us commenting and complaining here are imagining these horrible side effects! Today I got Zithromax which always worked well for me in the past. (Very little side effects).Then why did I ever have to take Avelox if there are other antibiotics that will make me better not worse. They push these meds on doctors to give to us that's why! I always trusted and admired my doctor. She always treats me well and does right by me. What is going on with these medical companies?! SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS!

I've had all these same symptoms at one point during the two years I've been taking Advair. I've had exercise induced asthma since I was 18 but I can still work out at age 38 regularly with the help of Albuterol/Proventil. I stopped taking Advair after I completed my last disk in Sept, 08. It all makes sense now after the fact from reading here. Firstly, I cant tell you how severe the muscle cramps were. No words can describe upper body cramping in every muscle that I endured for weeks (it felt like knives all over)!!! The same happened with my legs...the muscles became so tight they contorted! My Dr. gave me an m.r.i. took x-rays and several blood tests...even gave me an h.i.v. test because he had no idea what would cause all these symptoms. He said it was "complicated". The test results found nothing. All lof my symptoms are gone now that I've stopped taking it (mouth sores, bleeding gums, strange skin lumps, hair loss, dry eyes, swollen tongue feeling, lump in throat feeling, severe cramping all over my body for 3 weeks). The Dr. noted that I had gained 10lbs since my last visit. I told him, "I've barely been able to MOVE with this cramping much less exercise with my regular weekly routine!" "It even hurts to breath deeply!" I still have a dry cough that hasn't gone away and normally I clear up after the seasonal rag weed season is over. We have had two hard frosts already...that usually clears my allergies.

I have been on Lisinopril for almost 10 years now for minor HTN. A few months after beginning Lisinopril, I began having swelling in my lips and slight swelling in my tongue. I figured I was probably allergic to something but did not give the medication a thought. Approx 1 year after taking it, I had a severe allergic reaction that caused my tongue to swell to the point my tongue was sticking out of my mouth and I was having difficulty breathing. I drove myself to my family doctor and was treated with epinephrine and steroids. The doctor had the crash cart ready in case I "punched out." After about 3 hours the swelling subsided. My doctor and I tried for several weeks to determine the trigger for the episode. There didn't seem to be any specific reason for it.

Fast forward almost 9 years to last week. I have been battling severe sinus conditions for about 10 years or so. I have now had 5 sinus surgeries to remove severe polyp growth in my sinuses. My ENT finally decided I needed to see an allergist. After going over my history and my medications with my young doctor, I told him about the swollen tongue episode. He immediately told me that it was due to the Lisinopril. He told me ACE Inhibitors are notorious for those types of reactions and it could happen again at any time, even thought it has been over 9 years since the only episode. He told me he would contact my GP and advise him to take me off the Lisinopril and prescribe something else.

Like many others on this site I too have experienced many symptoms that have not been properly explained. I am just wondering how many could be attributed to Lisinopril. Based on many of the side effects I have read here, some or all can be attributed to the Lisinopril, including the sinus conditions I have been battling for the last 10 years. My GP and I will be having a very serious talk at my next visit.

It all began with LISINOPRIL: Constant involuntary pulsating, twitching, spasming toungue, swollen tongue, difficulty speaking, extremely dry mouth...

As directed by my new internal med doctor, I had recently begun taking one 5 mg lisinopril one time per day for my hypertension. I also take one 5 mg Ziac daily. I am a 40 yo female. I took the lisinopril for 6 days before feeling too frightened and anxious to continue the medication. I have now been off of the lisinopril for a week, and my involuntary tongue movements are still present 24 hrs/day. This is a very disturbing sensation over which I am powerless to control or stop. I am preoccupied with it and full of worry. It is very obvious that my speech sounds thick and impaired, and I am embarrassed to speak around anyone now. I know that "other people's opinion of me is none of my business" because I know the real truth, but I hate for others to assume I am intoxicated or impaired in any way.

Anyone else have the twitching, pulsating, throbbing tongue movements? If so, how long did this last?

Thanks, MAC

My dad had an anaphylactic reaction to avelox. Twenty minutes after taking the medication he became flushed and itchy. His face swelled. My dad is a physician and knew that he was having a reaction to the drug but did not know how severe it was. He had a nurse administer a depo medrol shot when in fact it should have been epinepherine. He ended up turning blue and passing out several times until oxygen could be administered. These events took place in his office. When he was in this state of shock, his collegues gave him an EKG and evidence of heart ischemia was recorded. His blood pressure dropped drastically. He was rushed to a hospital where they gave him benedryl and steroids. Thankfully he has recovered without any tissue damage to his heart or brain. Even though he had this reaction, he still feels that avelox is a great drug and that his reaction although extremely life threatening is rare. 1 in 30,000 people will develop this adverse reaction to avelox.

I have been on Advair for almost 2 months. The first month I was on lowest dose and the second month on 500/50. I am prone to severe coughing mainly as a part of a cold or flu. I do cough ALOT with extreme emotions, when I get overheated and when I lie down. I went to the doctor and she stongly suspected Asthma. Even though I do smoke, my history of coughing as a child and my severe GERD is what made her lean towards Asthma. While in the process of getting referrals, x-rays, bloodwork she put me on Advair. With constant follows-ups,(every 2 wks) nothing was working and to make things worse I came down with some kind of flu. On the smallest dose of Advair the only thing that happened was a dry throat. After my flu was almost gone she increased my Advair.Amost immediatly I got the worst sore throat! My throat was on fire,my tastebuds on the back of my toungue were HUGE. My throat was so dry, I thought I was gonna choke on my own tongue. Then, within a day after that I was so hoarse I could hardly talk and the area where my voice box is, hurt and I was about to cough up a lung. At the same time I had a few small white dot's in the back of my mouth.....by the uvula. So I went back to my doctor. She tested me for strep and yeast both were negative! I left the office more puzzled and fustrated than ever. I continued for several days and then it came to me...."Could my asthma medicine be causing my problem?" The very next morning I quit all asthma medicine. It wasn't working anyway! Within 24 hrs I was 75% better! My voice box was still sore and my voice wasn't back all the way but loads better. By day three my voice was about 90% back and I could actually talk on the phone and yell at my five kids! LOLOL I think in my case Advair is not the answer and caused way more problems. I am do to visit the doc soon to see where I go from here. Has anyone had the same experience?

I began taking lisinopril approx 4 months ago. They first thing I noticed was erectile disfunction, within a weel or so. I am also on diazide and alegra 180 for Meniers disease.
My BP came down from a high of 180/120 to 118/90 area.
So, I was willing to put up with a few side effects. After 2 months thing went bad. I began to suffer from depression, I have never had any problem wth it before.
New side effects began to show up:
1) chest Pain.
2) shortness of breath.
3) Increase in alergic reactions.
4) blurred vision in left eye.
5) feeling of a lump in my throat all the time.
I talk with my doc, He does not seem to worried to till I get to the last one. Then he got concerned, I was having an allergic reaction.

BE AWARE....IF YOU GET PUFFY LIPS, SWOLLEN TONGUE OR A LUMP IN YOUR THROAT CALL THE DOC NOW!!!!!

THIS STUFF IS POISON IN MY OPINION

Do not take this medication! I ended up in the ER with a bad rash, swollen joints , hands, dizziness, insominia, vomiting, elevated blood pressure, and swollen tongue. These side effects took three days to totally manisfest. I discontinued the meds myself . Took benedryl to offset the itching.
It is now on my list of drugs NOT TO EVER TAKE AGAIN!

My husband had a 102 degree fever after taking Zithromax for 5 days. We went to an immediate care facility where the young medic sent us to the emergency room for a chest X-ray. He prescribed this awful drug. The side affects include the nasty metal taste, extreme exhaustion, trembling, nightmares, cold sweats and now, on day 10, thrush with swollen tongue and feeling just plain horrible. It is outrageous that drug companies are allowed to promote their new products without regard to the consequences. My husband has other really significant health problems and 1 year ago finished radiation therapy. He did not need this exposure to a toxic drug! Plus it has not cleared up his respiratory infection. If his symptoms from this drug remain long term, I will certainly persue this legally.

I agree with the statement that another poster listed below: "Pharmaceutical companies are out of control, pushing new and expensive medications on doctors and then onto unsuspecting patients."

A curse on the drug companies!
