ok so i had my mirena put in back in aug. of 07! i have had no sex drive, mood swings, and uncontrollable sweating! a lot of the symptoms of menopause but i am only 24! so wtf? then tonight i was checking for my string and im sorry if this is graphic but im scared and need answers! i realized a almost black looking blood like kind of liquid but i am sure it was not blood! it did not smell like blood! it smelled almost like death! ewww! i am freaking out! so if anyone knows wtf is going on please write me back!

I had a hysterectomy about 10 months ago, so that was last June, a few weeks ago I started having symptoms of menopause, so I went to my doctor. She said that even though I am not in menopause my estrogen level was really low so she put me on Aviane. So far so good I have not had any of the serious side effects that you other women had. Before I was put on Aviane I was the nastiest person to be around. Now I am really happy and not as strebssed out, I have more energy, and I am glad that my doc put me on it. The only side effect that | am getting is feeling full and bloated even after a few bites of food.. I ordered a poutine and I was full after eating just 4 bites

I had Mirena inserted in March of 2006. It was a painful insertion but only because the doctor pinched my cervix with the forcepts. I was quite happy with the Mirena for the first two years. I had only light spotting a mild cramping the first month. Then I never had a period again. I loved that part!

However, for some reason these past 6 or so months have really began to be more difficult. I began to have symptoms of menopause at only age 35! My symptoms included vaginal dryness to the point of irritation, loss of sex drive, occasional hot flashes, fatigue, difficulty sleeping, mental confusion, memory loss, weight gain--(gained 8 pounds and then had to exercise daily just to keep weight off--never had to do that before, and occasional headaches. I knew I was too young to experience menopause so I decided to do some research and see if Mirena could be causing these problems.

I was happy to find this sight last night. After reading everyone's comments I actually removed the Mirena myself around 8 p.m. last night. It didn't hurt at all, it was just hard to get a hold of that darn string. Took about five minutes but all went well.

Since removing it I have had a slight headache, I was already having cramping before removing it but the cramping did go away this afternoon. I did have a surge of energy last night so I had difficulty sleeping. I am quite tired now though so hopefully tonight will go better. My vaginal dryness is already returning to normal thank goodness as I couldn't stand that side effect.

Look forward to reading more about how people respond once it is removed and how long it takes to get back to normal.

This is a great site for learning more on this subject where we can get the real facts from real experiences.( Vs. the deception from drug companies who are in the business for profit.)

Lipitor is pure poison, and Dr.'s hand it out like candy. All cholesterol reducing drugs that contain statins can trigger dangerous side effects. Not many of us are informed about the real danger of statins when we are handed the perscription. Inappropriate prescribing of medications will continue to be one of the leading causes of death. And we, the patients,do not always receive enough info. from our Dr.'s about the dangers and side effects from prescription drugs.

I'm 48 yrs. young. Female, small build, (was) healthy and active, happy, and an empty nester! My husband and I had moved to another province and hence had to find a new Dr.

I was prescribed lipitor 10 mg. daily after a routine check up by my Dr. because my cholesterol was a little high.

I started taking it in the winter 2005. I stopped taking it in mid June 2007... My side effects were progressive , drug induced, and it escalated to near disabling.

I knew something was terribly wrong. Was it A.L.S., M.S., West Nile, Lupis, Alzhiemers Disease, or a new designer disease? I did not suspect that the drug lipitor was the cause until much later.

At first, my Dr. said it was menopause. I should mention; since I've quit taking the drug 3 months ago, I have no symptoms of menopause !
At least my Dr. has acknowledged and diagnosed the cause of these profound symptoms." Myopathy as a result of statins."

Signs & symptoms I experienced are as follows;

Severe stomach pain.
Muscle pain, aching , weakness, stiffness, tenderness esp.to the lower extremities. Eventually, I could only shuffle to walk.
Pain in the palms of hands.
Stiff neck, shoulders, arms and lower back.
Trouble getting up from a seated position, and climbing stairs.
Extreme fatigue.
Hot and cold sweats
Night sweats
Fevers. High and low grade fevers.
Ringing in the ears.
Difficulty swallowing, and fear of choking.
Pain in the esophagus.
Memory loss, difficulty concentrating, forgetfulness.
NO appetite, yet a lot of weight gained around the abdomen area.Bloated.
NO taste buds.
Speech affected, slurring words and mispronouncing. Tongue felt swollen.
Trouble breathing at night, would wake up coughing ( and I was not smoking then).
Trouble sleeping.
Loss of balance and coordination.
Blurred vision esp. in the morning.
Sharp shooting pains in the Rt. thigh.

Most of the symptoms have now subsided. I still have some foot pain and leg cramps and muscle stiffness... and poor concentration. Putting this together has been done with great difficulty, as I seem to pause a great deal and forget what I was trying to say. The recovery process is slow but at least it's progress. My Dr. has not prescribed any more medication. I've done my own research, after the fact, and started taking coQ10. and I've noticed a big difference!

Quality of life? Well, I'd rather have high cholesterol and die from that, than be poisoned again by statins. What quality is there, to live an extremely painful, useless and unfulfilling life? We were all guinea pigs, and we paid a terrible price for this! I hope we all can recover from this with no long term side effects.
If you are considering taking cholesterol lowering drugs do some careful research on statin drugs before you take them, and read the testimonies from those effected by them.

Am a 56 year old female. Have been on Lipitor 10mg, for about 1 year. Was having, leg cramps, hot flashes, insomnia, bladder incontinence, anxiety attacks (which I have never had before) Thought they were all symptoms of menopause. Until I quit Lipitor for 1 week. All symptons disappeared. Went back on Lipitor for 2 days and all symptoms started to come back! Dr. said stay off and have some blood work done in one month. Have been off now for 3 weeks straight and absolutely no more symptoms. No hot flashes or anxiety!

HERBAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR HORMONAL BALANCE AND HEALING COMING OFF OF YASMIN:

Hi Ladies-to Anyone who has been on Yasmin/Yaz, if you haven't made it to the UK site Sarah/Flowerbabies set up, I am re-posting here some recent posts I've made in what has helped me enormously after coming off of Yasmin.

After being on Yasmin from 12/2005-8/2006 here is a list of the side effects I experienced: Hiatal hernia, vision changes, congestion ears, chest pains, heart murmur, palps and bracycardia, ectopic (abnormally slow and skips beats), melasma, bronchitis, fatigue. B12/Folic Acid Deficiency. Elevated potassium.

New Chapter Organices
The best I found for bio-availability (one that your body can easily assimilate/integrate) is New Chapter Organics. This is also extrmely low on potassium, which was very important for me because I am one of the women who ended up with 5.7 on my potassium when normal ranges are: 3.6-5.2. So I discovered I am in a range that is considered unsafe/mild hyperkalemia and working to lower it.

Organic Evening Primrose Oil:
contains specialized nutriet gamma linolenic acid (GLA) which has been show in scientific studies to support hormonal health and address symptoms of PMS and menopause.

Lignans:
highly studied and researched class of phytonutrient found in flaxseed studied by the National Cancer Institute and shown to possess impressive preventative properties-in addition to supporting hormone and breast health

Soy Isoflavones:

There is nothing without health and from my experience, I will not be taking any pharmaceutical medications for the rest of my life if I can manage to do so. I've never been big on medications to begin with, but after this experience with Yasmin, and all the learning I am doing about the pharmaceutical industries and their partnerships with Doctors/Nurses, all the horrible symptoms and other problems that come with taking so many of these drugs , no thank you.

To be honest, sometimes, the lessons I am learning from having been on Yasmin, all the horrible side effects after being and having such good health has put me on a course to take personal responsibility for my own health and ways in which I can care for it without Doctors, prescriptions, un-healthy drugs that treat symptoms instead of cause. It is very empowering.

As I referenced above, I've been on two herbal supplements recommended to me by a Naturopath I am seeing. I've only been taking them for a little over a week and seeing great improvements. If you see the herbs above, many of them are contained in the Fem Rebalance and Phase I support products by Vitanica that I am taking. I was struck by the fact that they were out of the Fem Rebalance initially and I had to ask that they hold 2 for me becuase when their order came in, they were out again as there were so many women who created a back-order:

Some herbs that are helpful with mentruation are:

BLACK COHOSH:
Antispasmodic and antirheumatic. Isoflavones ("phytoestrogens") bind to estrogen receptors and have mild estrogen like activity. Estrogen take a big dip during our menstrual cycle. Good for dull aching muslce pains (especially rheumatic and myalgic pains)-Low estrogen conditions like PMS.

BLUE COHOSH**:
Antispasmodic and antirheumatic. Uterine tonic. Used well for menstrual cramps and discomfort (especially "heavy legs"); excessive flow**

BUTCHER BROOM:
Antiinflammatory* tonic for veins. Reduces capillary fragility and permeability and tones sluggish venous system. Useful for Vein disorders related to oral contracptive pills, PMS**, certain menstrual disorders.

DONG QUAI:

I've learned and am learning so much about my body, about homeopathic and natural herb remedies that its actually exciting. I avoided anti-biotics recently given another month of bronchial problems (5 months of bronchitis every month at the onset of my period after going off of Yasmin) with Pulsatilla Nigricans, which is a homeopathic remedy. In one day, my chest stopped hurting and the cough is subsiding! And I've done it without wiping out all the good bacteria in my body with anti-biotics. To be honest, sometimes, the lessons I am learning from having been on Yasmin, all the horrible side effects, has put me on a course to take personal responsibility for my own health and ways in which I can care for it without Doctors, prescriptions, un-healthy drugs that treat symptoms instead of cause. I started taking Yasmin last Monday (it's Thursday today) I was perscribed the drug for the beginning symptoms of menopause (I am beginning to have 21 day periods and severe mood swings) My ob gave this to me and sarafem, which I have been on before, but have had no reaction too. So anyway, Tuesday I did not feel like eating. Furthermore, it has just gotten worse. I have severe indegestion and almost vomited last night. I also have had a pretty bad panic attack and shortness of breath last night, which is a sympton that I have never experienced AFTER starting sarafem. I wokeup this a. m. and decided to look for possible side effects on the web and found this site. Wow, am I shocked to see others with the same result as me. And very thankful that I put the 2 together before taking this pill for an extended period of time. So gals, if you feel ill, it might not be the flu. Call your OB! I'd rather have mood swings and bleed every 21 days than feel like this...YUK!

No side effects. I just wanted to reassure all these people that are unsure about taking Synthroid, that it is the best medicine I've ever had to take. Two years ago, my hair was falling out in big clumps, I had all the symptoms of menopause-night sweats, mood swings, sleeplessness, etc. and my doctor tested my thyroid and found that I have hypothyroidism. It took a few months to get the dosage correct, but I have felt wonderful ever since and I also have all my hair back!
