We took our 16 year old son to Urgent Care as he was very sick and a high fever. The Urgent Care doctor prescribed Levaquin 500 mg. After the 2nd pill my son could not speak clearly, his jaw was very strangely crooked and he could not hold it in place, his face muscles were twitching, I was so scared I thought he was having a stroke!!! I rushed him to ER and the doctor said they could not believe that a doctor prescribed this to a minor as that is illegal without a parent consent!!!! This drug is NOT to be give to minors and I cant believe that the Urgent Care doctor did not tell us that along with any side effects it may have. I know I should be informed myself, but when we rush our child to the Urgent Care because he is sick, we trust the doctor when he prescribes just an antibiotic!!!! I am wayyyyyyyy more upset and mad that the doctor did not mention AT ALL that this drug IS NOT TO BE GIVEN TO MINORS WITHOUT A PARENT CONSENT. If we had knows this we would not take a chance on it. I would want a normal antibiotic that my son has taken before. If it is harmful to kids, I don't recommend an adult take it. Children are not done gowning and all kinds of things could have happend to my son. I was never more scared of anything in my entire life, my son was crying cause all the SUDDEN he could not talk and his face was all distorted.... so scary. PRAISE GOD that my son is all better now except for a cold, still and he is very athletic and seems to be getting better with no aches or pains. The ER doctor did recommend Benadryl and when my son took this his symptoms went down and the drug was out of his system in 2 days. I know he will be great as that is what we PRAY for but I thought this was very good info to pass along. If anyone experiences these symptoms you now know someone who has been through it and what the ER doctor recommend for us. Take care, please be healthy....

PEOPLE, PLEASE DO NOT DISCONTINUE THIS MEDICATION SUDDENLY, IT CAN BE DANGEROUS!!!

I have been reading about this medication here for some time, and I feel concerned when I read about someone deciding to just quit taking it suddenly. I personally intend to quit as soon as I find a doctor with enough knowledge to help me wean off of it in a safe manner. I've been on it for two years, and the side effects have grown worse than my original health problem, so I understand wanting to just up and quit taking it, but after learning the hard way, I've found out it's not so easy.

Do your homework, read and learn about the potential 'rebound effect' and by all means, talk to your doctor before doing something that may cause you to be in danger ( as in having a heart attack)...if you don't believe me, learn for yourself, the information is easily researched.

Blessings, and good luck...

Ive been using NR since january. I got diagnosed with migranes about 2 years ago so when i started getting them frequently i figured id just go back to my doctor to find something else to help. Ive tried about 4 different pain killers inluding muscle relaxer shots, to try to ease muscle tension headaches. I love the ring because im horrible with remembering to take a pill every day! Ever since ive been on the ring ive been very upset i was really happy when i found this site. it showed me that i wasnt the only one feeling this. My migranes are so bad i cant keep my eyes open. I argue with my boyfriend more than ever because he tells me im too emotional and i cry too much. I dont know what to do because i want to be on something i dont have to remember to take everyday. I use to be on lo-overal.. it worked great but i have really good gag reflexes and the pill isnt coated so it would dissolve before you had time to swallow it! Now every time i take a pill i gag remembering what it was like to take lo-overal. It makes me sick thinking of it. Has any one ever tried the shot? Or does anyone else know of any other options besides pills? if so PLEASE let me know!

I have had 4 surgeries on heal over a 15 month period and everytime I have been given meprozine. I am not a pill popper so normally do not have a problem because I do not want to take a chance of taking something that will get me hooked on it. This surgery was different I decided what the heck I did not want to suffer the pain that I had previously if I did not have to. I have had a couple of instances that I had twitching, but the major side effect id this ungodly taste in my mouth that makes everything I eat or drink taste nasty. Other than that I have had no side effect. But will change to Propoxy which only seems to dull the pain but at least I can enjoy eating again.

I think guest @ 12832 must work for the makers of levaquin. To go so far as to call this "mob mentality" and "group think" is a real indication that the pharmaceutical companies watch these forums. You can't possibly think that we are that stupid that we couldn't figure that out. I'm sure there are many that have been helped by flouoquinolones, however, the adverse reactions are mostly irreversible. Why would anyone want to take a chance? There are safer drugs available.

I took levaquin(poison)for 10 days in Oct 2004 for pneumonia. I immediately had tinnitus. On day 2 I had pain under my ribs and thought I cracked a rib from coughing. I couldn't sleep and when I did I had nightmares. I was very depressed, had a mettalic taste in my mouth, my tongue was red and hurt terribly. The pain went from my ribs to my knee to my shoulders. I have had psycotic episodes where I've thrown things in my house and scared my husband and myself. After 5 months, I'm sleeping better and I've recently got most of my taste back. The pain moves from place to place and I have pain almost every day. The tinnitus is as bad as it was 5 months ago. I've been to a ent for the first time in my life and he said I had fluid in my ear. He tried togive me an antibiotic but I'm scared to take anything. I have some hearing loss in that ear. I'm depressed most of the time. I'm angry at my dr. who never warned me about this drug, the pharmacy who also didn't warn me. I was taking aspirin and advil and later found out that those drugs with the levaquin could damage my central nervous system. Of course by that time it was too late. I have filed with Med watch, contacted Ortho-McNeill. Ortho-McNeill sent me a registered letter asking me tosign a medical release form. I told them that the only thing I would sign is a check from them to help me pay my medical expenses (have no insurance). Of course, I haven't heard from them again. Tell everyone you know never to take a chance with this medicine. A reaction to this poison is not like any other. This stuff does damage. It doesn't go away when you stop taking it.

I am a 47 year old peri-menopausal woman who was put on this pill to regulate irregular and very heavy menstrual periods. I did not bargain for what I got in return.

I was on this pill for 2 years before my internist suggested that the problems that I was having might be related to this pill. I had had ulcerative colitis many years ago and then it calmed down for 10 years, until about 4 months after being on this pill, it came back with a vengeance, as did many other intestinal and issues with my digestive system.

In addition, about 1 1/2 years after being on this pill, I started having insomnia for about half the days in the month, and also feeling wired and paranoid about things that did not make any sense. Then the panic attacks started. I was told that I was anxious because of my colitis and prescribed anit-anxiety medications.

I did not realize all of this was from this pill, I thought maybe a change in life coming or maybe my colitis. Well, I decided to throw all the pills away mid-cyle anyway. Why take a chance?

It has been about 3 1/2 months since I stopped taking them and it has taken all this time for me to feel like my old self. I have not had a panic attack in quite awhile, and I have anxiety only occassionally. Also, many of my digestive issues have improved, but I am still not back to 100 percent. I think some of this IS related to a change in life coming, but definitely not all of it.

If you are a 40+ woman, and your doctor suggests a low dose pill, specifically, Yasmine, think again. Yes, it does control pre-mentstual bloating, and Yes, it was easy to keep my weight down on this pill. But in doing so, I did not feel well most days. Think about it. Taking it may be like making a deal with the devil.

Good luck to all who have been on this awful "medicine"

TO LARRYHOR,

Was wondering if you could clear up something. By saying you present to non believers was wondering if you are trying to sell anything from your home email. I'd like to write you to findout your methods but was wondering if when i do you will tell me to buy something from yourself. You say FREE of charge adn are common supplements on here so why not just list them then we decide on our own. Like some here who use Vitamin B with niacin or garlic and honey. Why not just say? Or just say if you are wanting to sell. Why sound like salespitch? Then I can decide if I want to take a chance to send out emails to strangers. I think you will be more successful this way.

Robert
